The United States within nearly a century of its founding became the wealthiest nation in the history of mankind. It accomplished this without an income tax, free university tuition, universal health care, or even Social Security. In Bernie Sanders’ lifetime, he witnessed the fall of National Socialists, Soviet Socialists, and more benign iterations of the collectivist ideology. But he imagines the command economy, rather than the free market, as our savior.

    — Daniel J. Flynn in Socialism, The Nightmare That Never Dies

  • Jester

I’m enjoying the irony of American Sanders supporters lecturing me, a former Soviet citizen, on the glories of Socialism and what it really means! Socialism sounds great in speech soundbites and on Facebook, but please keep it there. In practice, it corrodes not only the economy but the human spirit itself, and the ambition and achievement that made modern capitalism possible and brought billions of people out of poverty. Talking about Socialism is a huge luxury, a luxury that was paid for by the successes of capitalism. Income inequality is a huge problem, absolutely. But the idea that the solution is more government, more regulation, more debt, and less risk is dangerously absurd.

    — Garry Kasparov

Arabs have no more creative force. Islam does not contribute to intellectual life, it suggests no discussion. It is no longer thought. It produces no thinking, no art, no science, no vision that could change the world. This repetition is the sign of its end. The Arabs will continue to exist, but they will not make the world better.

The feminist girls all were laughing at me and giving me the middle finger on the street, guys were screaming at me that ‘maybe that washed the scum off you,'” she recounted. “Despite their professed feminism, they don’t care about women if they have the wrong opinions. And despite their professed concern for ‘violence against women,’ they don’t care if women who disagree with them are physically attacked.

  • Mr. Freemarket

“Income inequality is a huge problem, absolutely.”

Several responses seem appropriate. 1) Why? 2)What makes it a huge problem? 3) Is the problem that you are blinded by greed for that which you didn’t earn? 4) What if I showed you how you, too, could be rich. And in the process I made more money, so I would still have more than you. Is income equality still a problem?

  • Momster

    Yup–the devil’s in the details.

  • The thing is socialism works… on paper. When you don’t account for reality, for human nature, it is a workable system. But as soon as you add human nature and the real world it fails miserably. The simple fact is there are those who will respond to socialism by becoming nothing but takers. And they will bring the system down every time as more and more people decide they won’t work for a system that makes their decisions for them and steals what they’ve worked to create to redistribute to those who have done nothing to deserve it. It is inevitable. Socialism depends on everyone pulling their own weight and more but in the real world that just doesn’t happen when it is implemented.

A recurring complaint about capitalism is that it causes TOO MUCH WEALTH, in the form of over-production. Imagine, wannabe socialists complain because capitalism is TOO GOOD at producing more than is actually needed, while we’ve all seen the results of socialism – too much misery for everyone but a select few who pretend to follow socialism but really are only interested in power and control. Empty shelves. Hardship and, when you speak up about it, you disappear.

  • One aspect of obamacare was it was designed to be slipped in less painfully, but in the end the ill effect is the same – a crushing cost. Taxpayers are learning this in increasing steps:

Halfway through tax season, uninsured filers are paying more than twice as much as they did last year to satisfy Obamacare’s penalty for lacking coverage, H&R Block said Tuesday, in an analysis that says other customers still cannot match their incomes to IRS subsidies they got on the law’s exchanges.

The tax-prep giant said its customers are paying an average penalty of $383 because of the Affordable Care Act’s “individual mandate,” compared to $172 last year.

That’s because the mandate, a lever designed to bring healthy people into the new marketplace, rose from $95 or 1 percent of qualified income — whichever is greater — in 2014 to $325 or 2 percent of income for 2015.

H&R Block also said three out of five customers who received advanced tax credits so they could afford private plans on web-based exchanges are paying back a portion to the IRS because they underestimated their actual income for 2015.

Starting in 2014, Obamacare’s subsidies were designed to lend a helping hand to low- and moderate-income Americans who do not hold insurance through jobs or a government program such as Medicaid, and cannot afford coverage on the individual market.

Yet by routing those subsidies through the tax system, filers were forced to reconcile the financial help they received up front with their actual income during the year. If the two don’t match, then filers will either cough up more to the IRS or get more money back.

  • Obama continues to ensure more terrorists will be back on the streets, looking for ways to attack America and Americans:

The number of former Guantánamo Bay detainees suspected of re-engaging in terrorism or insurgency after being released by President Obama doubled in the six months through January, according to data released Tuesday by the administration.

Critics of Obama’s plan to close the Guantánamo detention facility are certain to use the new totals to bolster their arguments that the recidivism rate is too high to continue releasing prisoners to foreign countries.

Overall, 118 of the prisoners released are confirmed to have participated in terrorism, while another 86 are suspected.

  • Obama’s strategy to destroy America in plain sight:

Record number of unaccompanied minors set to flood southern border.

Homeland Security officials are on track to apprehend a record number of unaccompanied minors trying to enter the U.S. from Mexico, the Senate Homeland Security chairman suggested on Tuesday.

From the beginning of the fiscal year, Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson told the committee, officials have apprehended 23,533 unaccompanied minors trying to cross the border.

“I think we’re possibly beyond crisis proportions here,” said Chairman Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis. “Four months and we’re up to 23,000 already… 2014 was a crisis, right now I think we’re running ahead of 2014 levels,” Johnson added.

“If we maintain this pace, we’ll have 77,000 in 2016,” he said. The record was set in 2014, when Customs and Border Protection reported a total of 68,541 were apprehended at the border.

There are 4 reasons why The Obama is flooding America with illegals’…

    1. They are not white…

OBAMA is doing two things that I want you to notice:

    1) Bringing in dangerous criminals from other countries, as dangerous as he can find, as many as possible

    2) Doing his best to disarm us.

He wants to start a race/ethnic war and his goal is to disadvantage us as best he can first.

An ‘extremely rare’ case of twins born with different fathers has been reported in Vietnam after a DNA test was ordered.

The bi-parental twins were taken for testing because of stark differences in their appearances, according to local reports.

Twins born with different fathers can happen if two eggs from the same mother are fertilised by sperm from two different men during separate acts of sexual intercourse within the same ovulation period, AFP reports.

A similar case was previously reported in 2009, with Mia Washington admitting she was having an affair when she conceived, with two eggs fertilised by the sperm of two men.

“I have twins, but they’re by different fathers,” Miss Washington told Fox News.

Miss Washington and her partner James Harrison took DNA tests after noticing twins 11-month-old Justin and Jordan, had different facial features.

“Out of all people in America and of all people in the world, it had to happen to me. I’m very shocked,” Miss Washington said.

    Here’s Mia Washington:

  • So how is Iran doing with complying with the agreement Obama forced down our throats?

“The reason we have designed these missiles with such a range — 2,000 kilometres — is to be able to hit our remote enemies, the Zionist regime,” Hajizadeh said, referring to Israel.

“But there is no need to fire missiles to destroy the Zionist regime as it will gradually collapse. Our main enemy is the US,” he said.

    Not so good.

In fact, from what I understand, gay relationships are typically violent, abusive.

    Which doesn’t surprise me.

Typically the one playing the role of the ‘wife’ resents it and responds with violence, as apparently happened here.

I guess that’s understandable – you guys, think about how you would feel if you were being raped that way. And you women too!

Retired Sgt. Mitchell Grobeson, 57, was arrested Friday after a nearly four-hour standoff inside a West Hollywood home before he surrendered to a sheriff’s SWAT team.

Grobeson is being held on $250,000 bail on suspicion of corporal injury to a spouse, according to a statement from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. He was charged with assault with a firearm and criminal threats stemming from a domestic dispute with his husband that led to Friday’s standoff.

Anyway, they’re keeping the details quiet.

  • Obama “handcuffed” border patrol:

Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu denounced the Obama administration Tuesday, accusing the White House of preventing border agents from enforcing immigration laws.

Babeu, flanked by Border Patrol agents and union leaders, said high-traffic smuggling routes are not appropriately staffed and laid into the administration for failed leadership.

The sheriff denounced the politicization of immigration enforcement at a news conference at PCSO’s Florence headquarters.

National Border Patrol Labor Council President Brandon Judd picked up on that theme, saying the agency is at a crossroads.

“We are either going to be a specialized law enforcement agency dedicated to enforcing our nation’s immigration laws or a political arm of the administration,” Judd said.

He said because the Obama administration failed to convince the American public to pass immigration reform, “the president is bypassing Congress by legislating through policy. These policies in essence are granting amnesty to thousands, if not millions, of persons who enter the country illegally.”

Judd alleged the administration has engaged in a campaign to mislead the American people to believe our borders are secure.

“He (Pres. Obama) has manipulated the data, had agents assigned to low traffic areas and attempted to quiet dissent by calling those who question his approach as misinformed without offering an evidence to support these allegations.”

According to figures Babeu released Tuesday, traffic of illegal immigrants in the first four months of this fiscal year is up by 25 percent. He said there’s been a 102 percent increase in unaccompanied juveniles. Babeu said.

Under the ideologically twisted banner of civil rights enforcement, the DOJ just launched a new initiative to “promote religious freedom” in the nation’s public schools by cracking down on discrimination and bullying, especially as it may affect Muslims.
Vanita Gupta, once Deputy Legal Director of the ACLU and attorney for the NAACP, and acting assistant attorney general for the Civil Rights Division of the DOJ, has now unofficially ratified Obama’s written promise, that “I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.”
When the winds blew ugly at Umpqua Community College in Southern Oregon and a professed Muslim sympathizer chose his victims on the basis of whether or not they admitted they were Christian – at which time he executed students with a bullet to the head if they admitted they were (and left non-Christian students alone), to Gupta and Obama it was as if that tragedy had never occurred, except as fodder for an anti-gun rant. Now unfortunately, our “Civil Rights” director has chosen to ignore this growing trend of Christian-bashing, and instead has chosen the same sick and backward government BLM approach – that is to protect the “peace loving” but un-assimilating Muslims and vilify our home grown American victims.

  • White House preparing to move against COMEY of FBI:

The aggressive posture of the FBI under Director James Comey is becoming a political problem for the White House.

Comey, meanwhile, has stirred tensions by linking rising violent crime rates to the Black Lives Matter movement’s focus on police violence

He also warned about “gaps” in the screening process for Syrian refugees.

His demand that Apple help unlock an iPhone used by one of the San Bernardino killers has outraged Silicon Valley, a significant source of political support for President Obama and Democrats.

The Obama INjustice department actually considered and discussed ways to attack people legally for their beliefs about CO2 and climate – actually considered prosecuting climate realists for telling the truth.

Attorney General Loretta Lynch testified Wednesday that the Justice Department has “discussed” taking civil legal action against the fossil fuel industry for “denying” the “threat of carbon emissions” when it comes to climate change.

During Lynch’s testimony at a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing, Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.) said that he believes there are similarities between the tobacco industry denying scientific studies showing the dangers of using tobacco and companies within the fossil fuel industry denying studies allegedly showing the threat of carbon emissions.

He went on to point out that under President Bill Clinton, the Justice Department brought and won a civil case against the tobacco industry, while the Obama administration has “done nothing” so far with regard to the fossil fuel industry.

Whitehouse concluded his comments by posing a question to the country’s top law enforcement officer.

“My question to you is, other than civil forfeitures and matters attendant to a criminal case, are there other circumstances in which a civil matter under the authority of the Department of Justice has been referred to the FBI?” he asked.

“This matter has been discussed. We have received information about it and have referred it to the FBI to consider whether or not it meets the criteria for which we could take action on,” Lynch answered. “I’m not aware of a civil referral at this time.”

  • Gun-Control Activist Posts ‘F*** Police Officers,’ ‘F*** the NRA’ Rant. One Week Later, She Gets Invited to Meet President Obama.

Be sure to read the response from gun-control activist Amanda Gailey regarding the uproar over her Facebook post at the bottom of the story.

A Facebook page belonging to Amanda Gailey lists her as director of Nebraskans Against Gun Violence and associate professor at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. On Dec. 28, the following was posted on the Facebook page

KETV-TV reported that the White House last week called Gailey to personally invite her to meet Obama as part of his speech in Lincoln Wednesday.

Other posts on her Facebook page strike a similar tone. One screenshot shows a November post — apparently removed Thursday — that pokes fun at “Christianists” who are described as “people we should distinguish from Christianity the way we distinguish Islamists from Islam.” It then turns attention to Ted Cruz and offers an image that underscores gun control:

A BizPac Review writer noted the following exchanges in an attempt to connect the dots:

On Wednesday evening, I personally posted on the Facebook page of Nebraskans Against Gun Violence to ask if Gailey had made derogatory statements against the police, to which page administrators quickly replied “No.”

Minutes later I posted a screenshot of the comments and asked if the writer of those comments and the woman who met the president were not, in fact, one in the same.

Rather than reply, the page administrator’s deleted all of our correspondence, including the picture, and blocked me from the page.

See the link for her response, which is full of lies.

Syndicated radio host Mark Levin endorsed Texas Sen. Ted Cruz for president during a broadcast late Wednesday.

“I support Ted Cruz for the president of the United States because I believe everything I’ve just discussed with you he appreciates, he embraces, he understands and he has fought for throughout his life as well,” Levin said. “That is the Constitution, the Republic, individual sovereignty, separation of powers, the Bill of Rights, family, faith, a secure border, our national security.”

Levin said he chose to make the announcement now because of the emotional response he has had in the days since former President Ronald Reagan’s wife Nancy died.

He pointed at the “whole picture” of Cruz’s life and career as a constitutional lawyer as evidence he was the Republican for the job.

“LAPD’s First Openly Gay Officer Charged In Domestic Violence Case” was their headline.

    They followed that up with

“The Los Angeles Police Department’s first openly gay officer will make his first court appearance Tuesday on domestic violence charges.”

I do sometimes make slight alterations to make the story funnier, but I usually ‘fess up when I do that.

The story does seem a bit confusing until you read it carefully – he WAS the LAPD’s first OPENLY gay officer but apparently as a result he spent a lot of time in court, perhaps as one of the first hate hoaxers – you might check the list here and see if he’s made it yet.

In fact he tied himself up in court for all but a very short period of his LAPD career so I can see why you question whether he was actually an LAPD officer or not, since apparently he never really did what they do, except the appearing in court part maybe.

Thanks for the link. Here’s my take The guy is 57 years-old at the time of this domestic violence. The first photo we saw was a guy seemingly in his 20’s in a uniform that is blue (not LAPD) – and not brown like the sheriff’s department. In the second photo we see a guy about 40 or so in an LAPD uniform with LAPD badge and he is a sergeant which means he served with them for awhile. The two photos are both outdated if he is 57 years-old but what I infer is that he served originally with a smaller police department somewhere (1st photo), then got accepted at the LAPD academy where he started a career with them (this is common in small police departments where they get their feet wet before moving up to a better trained and far busier department). West Hollywood is an LAPD Division but it is surrounded by areas under County Sheriff jurisdiction so the DV was obviously not perpetrated within city limits, hence the arrest by Sheriff SWAT, County incarceration, and County media reports.
IOW he had an original photo taken with some unknown department, he served with and retired from LAPD, and he was arrested and booked by L.A. County Sheriffs. Now I wanna know where was the Highway Patrol when all this was going on? Thanks

And here we have another case study of a Donner coming back again trying argue on long dead thread. One does get the distinct impression that they do not wish to have their arguments eviscerated if front of an audience.

Please note the lack of factual information and the repeated use of incendiary charges un-moored with reality or logic. As is typical of Donner they have the misguided idea that merely making an accusation is enough, no evidence of such charges have to be presented, and the repeated requests for something along the line of Real facts are ignored.

In most cases they have days if not weeks to actually back up their asseverations without any result.

They also have the tendency to go back to long dead threads in vain attempts at arguing such that has been shown to be false.

What is really curious is that these people have tried to revive these long dead arguments in the past 24 hours..

    My response is here:
Since I prefer to eviscerate those who cannot answer a basic question in a more public forum..

When Donald FAILS to attain the Presidency, you only have yourself to blame:

Trump Fans, If Hillary Becomes President You’ll Only Have Yourselves To Blame
First thing: Donald Trump will never be president. This fact may come as a relief to millions of people, including Trump himself, who, according to his own employees, never actually wanted to win. His campaign has been a publicity stunt that, much to Trump’s surprise, many people took seriously. This is how utterly foolish Trump’s fans are: They’re being duped by a guy who didn’t even want to dupe them.

Every poll I’ve seen since the start of the campaign has Trump losing by wide margins to Hillary. His unfavorable ratings are historically high. As in, no candidate in American political history, outside of his fan David Duke, has managed to plunge the depths of his unpopularity.

The second thing is this, and I’m speaking directly to Trump fans now: When Hillary wins the White House, it will be your fault. It will especially be the fault of his media lickspittles like Sean Hannity, but it will be the fault of his primary voters as well. You will have chosen to put a universally detested buffoon against Hillary, and the ugly results of that decision will fall on you. Whatever happens during Queen Hillary’s reign of terror, you will have yourselves to thank for it. You should get up every morning, turn on the news, catch up on the latest scandal or tyranny Hillary has visited upon us, and then go to the bathroom, look in the mirror, and say, “Thanks, genius.”
    Because it’s your fault.
Now, let me tell you who will not be to blame: Those of us who, for reasons both moral and logical, cannot and will not vote for Trump in the general election. I’ve heard this argument over and over again. Trump fans say the Never Trump crowd will be responsible for “giving us Hillary” or that we’re effectively “voting for Hillary” if we don’t vote for Trump. But it doesn’t work that way.
You don’t get to foist this contemptible clown on us and then blame us when he loses. We’ve been telling you for months “we will not vote for Trump, period, end of story.”
Nope. Sorry. This is on you, Trump fans. This is all on you. I wash my hands of it.

    My response is here:
Since I prefer to eviscerate those who cannot answer a basic question in a more public forum.

Go ahead, keep wasting your time.
You are continuing proving that you cannot debate someone in the light of day.

People can see that you don’t have the intellectual capacity to debate someone where you will be embarrassed when you lose.

Expect this posting to be repeated until it’s instruction are followed

I can repeat this as many times as necessary
If you want to waste your time in pointless pursuits knock yourself out

I can just repeat the same thing over and over again with little effort expended on my part.

While you waste your time showing that you are incapable of debating alike and adult

Don’t expect to hide in the dark forever.

    #To be answered later

Clearly the intent is to refer to Trump supporters in general, so once again you STILL have to answer the question:

Did Trump supporters try to intimidate people into supporting him?
    Yes or No?

You can expect this question to be repeated UNTIL you answer it.

What is a Straw Man Argument?
The straw man argument is regarded as a logical fallacy, because at its
core, the person using the device misrepresents the other person’s
argument. The person does this because it then becomes easier to knock
down the weaker version of the opposing argument.
The straw man argument deliberately misrepresents and weakens the argument of the opposing side.
