Breitbart Barely Objects to Its Reporter Michelle Fields Getting Manhandled by Trump Campaign Manager

Would one their own reporters being assaulted by Trump’s campaign manager be enough to wake up the Trump enablers at Breitbart to the alarmingly thuggish nature of his movement? Apparently not.

Michelle Fields explains what happened to her:

On Tuesday night, I went to cover Donald Trump’s press conference at the Trump National Golf Club in Jupiter, Florida. …

I wasn’t called upon to ask a question during the televised press conference, but afterwards Trump wandered around, stopping at every reporter to take their questions. When he approached me, I asked him about his view on an aspect of affirmative action.

Trump acknowledged the question, but before he could answer I was jolted backwards. Someone had grabbed me tightly by the arm and yanked me down. I almost fell to the ground, but was able to maintain my balance. Nonetheless, I was shaken.

The Washington Post’s Ben Terris immediately remarked that it was Trump’s campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski, who aggressively tried to pull me to the ground. I quickly turned around and saw Lewandowski and Trump exiting the building together. No apology. No explanation for why he did this.

Even if Trump was done taking questions, Lewandowski would be out of line. Campaign managers aren’t supposed to try to forcefully throw reporters to the ground, no matter the circumstance. But what made this especially jarring is that there was no hint Trump was done taking questions. No one was pushing him to get away. He seemed to have been happily answering queries from my fellow reporters just a moment before.

Trump has denounced Antonin Scalia for opposing Affirmative Action. Evidently this is a sensitive topic, probably because some of Trump’s most ardent supporters have been tricked into believing that he will defend the interests of whites.

As noted at Patterico’s Pontifications,

Lewandowski is no stranger to hostile behavior on the campaign trail, and Trump is no stranger to condoning it. And it’s not like Fields was a protester that Trump’s plainclothes private intelligence officers had ferreted out and sought to expel from the event.

A witness described the incident as Lewandowski “yanking her down toward the ground like a ragdoll.” Fields was left with a purple bruise the next day.

If an Obama campaign manager had manhandled Fields during the 2012 election, Breitbart would have gone ballistic, and with good reason. Let’s see how they react when the ruffian is a consigliere for the Donald:

The reality television billionaire might also be laying the groundwork for a not-so-brave new world in which a campaign manager can assault a female journalist, while her news organization—in this case the famously Trump-friendly Breitbart News—responds with a mild rebuke in a vague statement perceived by some to be designed to protect the perpetrator. …

“It’s obviously unacceptable that someone crossed a line and made physical contact with our reporter,” said the Breitbart statement, issued under the name of Larry Solov, the outlet’s CEO and president. “What Michelle has told us directly is that someone ‘grabbed her arm’ and while she did not see who it was, Ben Terris of The Washington Post told her that it was Corey Lewandowski. If that’s the case, Corey owes Michelle an immediate apology.”

The statement was issued in the wee hours of Wednesday morning but remains Breitbart’s official comment on the matter, hours after sources said Lewandowski acknowledged to Breitbart’s Washington political editor, Matthew Boyle, that he did manhandle Fields.

Lewandowski’s explanation to Boyle, said these sources, was that he and Fields had never met before and that he didn’t recognize her as a Breitbart reporter, instead mistaking her for an adversarial member of the mainstream media.

Oh, Lewandowski thought she was a mainstream journalist. That’s okay then. Lucky thing for Fields he didn’t use brass knuckles.

The Breitbart statement struck sources within Breitbart and outside the company as strangely inadequate, given that it blames an unidentified “someone,” uses the conditional phrase “if that’s the case,” and leaves open the possibility that Lewandowski didn’t lay hands on Fields.

Apparently Breitbart tipped off the Trump campaign as to the identity of the WaPo reporter, who was scheduled to meet with Lewandowski Wednesday and planned to confront him about the attack. Needless to say, the meeting was canceled.

Breitbart is positioning itself to become for Trump what MSNBC has been for Obama.

Trump’s supporters are becoming more like brow-shirts every day. What can you expect from all the anger he’s stroking and personal example he’s giving.

Here is a Trump supporter sucker punching a protester. You can almost see the “hero” almost shaking from excitement.

What difference at this point is between Trump and the fascist left? Only the letter ‘R’ at the end of the campaign title.

In many states, squeezing someones arm or just touching them in a way that leaves bruises constitutes assault battery. She should press charges, not because of grievous injury but to reign in these scumbags, to let them know that this isn’t going to tolerated.

There had to be a thousand cell phones recording in that room, the incident must be on video somewhere. She must have a boyfriend, he needs to put Lewandowski in the hospital.

78-Year-Old Trump Supporter Assaults Protester In Front of Police
In a shocking video taken at a North Carolina Trump rally, a 78-year-old white trash Trump supporter sucker-punched a protester who was being escorted out by at least two Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department officers. Side note: I sure am glad we’re getting rid of political correctness thanks to Trump, otherwise I’d have had to think of a nicer thing to call this guy than “white trash.”

Cheers and clapping can be heard on the video as the protester, 26-year-old Rakeem Jones, walks up the steps of the arena. He turns and gestures to the crowd with his hands, and appears to flash his middle finger to the crowd cheering his removal. As he turns back around to follow the officers, the Trump supporter punches him directly in the face.

And to add insult to (literal) injury, Jones can be seen at the top of the steps being tackled by officers and carried out, while the assailant remained at the event, not even questioned by police that day.
    https://youtu.be/AoA_mjVrvs4
Since this video surfaced, the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department worked quickly to save face, identifying the assailant as 78-year-old John McGraw and charging him with assault this afternoon.

Cruz was a DC insider long before he was a Senator.

He only went back to Texas to cover the fact that he started out as a Princeton/Harvard brat, then went straight to DC and was bumped to executive positions within 4 years of leaving college.

Cruz worked for GWB, then when Bush’s popularity took a dive, Cruz ran back to Texas and pretended to be a new face in politics.

Cruz’s biggest backers, the Tea Party Patriots group is just a bunch of 2nd-rate DC insiders who co-opted the movement to nullify it.

Cruz is Skull & Bones garbage, not Tea Party material.

FFS, read his bio before you vote.

WTF are you talking about? The only person that the DC establishment hates more than Trump is Cruz. There hasn’t been one single endorsement out of DC for Cruz. Making shit up and repeating it does not make it true.

You do realize that drinking the bong water is bad for you, right?

You don’t stop this kind of bullshit, assaulting women and the acceptance of that behavior by calling it distasteful, unacceptable, etc. You come for them in the night and teach them what real fear for their personal safety is like.

Bush people, as you say, and the DC establishment are certainly going after Trump but not with the intent of helping Cruz. That is the, enemy of my enemy is my friend, reasoning. It does not hold water.

They may not be going after Cruz right now but they would if he was the front runner. They don’t want either Trump OR Cruz because neither one is part of the cartel. If Trump decided tomorrow that he just isn’t interested for whatever reason and dropped out of the race, the DC Cartel would shift its sights to Cruz without skipping a beat.

Exactly. I do think they continue to hate Cruz. He’s been an establishment’s PITA since he got to DC. One of too few that kept their campaign promises.
And at the same time, that other big group of anti-establishment types are supporting that other guy the establishment hates.
I understand, if ‘anti-establishment’ groups were combined, we’d be already 70% of republican voters. United we stand at our strongest. I don’t have a clue how that would ever come about, but I pray.
Right now, the GOPligarch appears to fear Trump the most. If Ted was winning, it would be him, but that is not the reality right now. A year ago, I did not like Trump at all. It’s the Oligarch’s apparent fear of him that moves me most. I figured that he can not be all bad.

    NO, the Dems own it….
The term “affirmative action” was first used in the United States in “Executive Order No.10925”, signed by President John F. Kennedy on 6 March 1961, which included a provision that government contractors “take affirmative action to ensure that applicants are employed, and employees are treated
during employment, without regard to their race, creed, color, or
national origin.” In 1967, gender was added to the anti-discrimination list.

Keep this in perspective. We (Us…! Conservatives…!) didn’t create this mess, and neither did Dave. Obama has done a masterful job of dividing America in absolutely every way humanly possible and it has infected every facet of our lives.
    .
Obama started with the Gamaliel Foundation and began learning the art of pitting one side against the other so as to create a friction and a space to become the Solver in Chief. That’s how he climbed the f’n ladder without credentials. With Alinsky’s tactics of division and forcing your opponents weaknesses upon themselves, which he was taught and then implemented WITH his teacher Bill Ayers in the Chicago school system for a DECADE, the man is now a fucking genius at dividing everything he puts his hands on or anything he puts his mind to…!
    .
In my estimation this site has been infected by 10-15% Obamabots who argue as one or the other side of conservatism while hurling invectives and challenging supposed members of the same party as idiots and Progs, and laughing their ass off because we have become emotional and therefore gullible and self defeating. There are obviously MAJOR differences in the Republican party, BUT they are being handled just like we are following a generic Obama script on “How to Self-Destruct.”
    .
I am not willing to watch our party abandon our children and our families and our American way of life because of a childish fit of pride over who is, or who isn’t the nominee, And I am not for revolution in America, who some are calling for, because they don’t get their wish. Revolution means desolation in the streets, bloodshed everywhere, explosions by the minute, and death, disease, and destruction throughout the country. History – if there is one – will look back on the children who were supposed to be adults, but who failed their own children.
    .
It’s EIGHT FRICK’N MONTHS until the election and Obama and the Progs have us in such internal conflict and embarrassing childlike turmoil that the outcome is a foregone Prog conclusion and our wimpy need to be right amongst ourselves is writing our own puny epitaph.

Dave Blount, your heart has to be breaking at this point, reading these forum posts. Very few (or at least the loudest) want constitutional conservationism anymore; they just want revolution, damn be the results. Remember, those throwing around terms like “cuck”, to anyone that doesn’t fall prostrate at the feet of Trump, would have wanted to hang John Adams and Josiah Quincy for stepping up to be defense attorneys for the British soldiers during the Boston Massacre trials.

Listen, you and I have had some awfully good conversations in the past and I kinda’ know who you are in terms of principle and standing up for what you believe in, and I’m proud to call you a friend. We don’t have to agree on every single issue for me to respect you – it would be a shitty world if we had to. Some people here at MB may be calling you names right now, but I know that doesn’t matter to you and it shouldn’t. You and I still may have minor points of disagreement but I will never doubt that your opinions are always coming from a point of absolute honesty. If in fact the shit really does hit the fan, we’ll make contact later and share ammo.

Agreed. I respect anyone’s opinion to the point of them attacking me for mine. You’ve always been a stand up guy as far that’s concerned. I’ve just had it with those who attack Trump supporters but wash their hands when it comes to their candidate. It’s gotten pretty ugly, to the point where posts are being deleted and people banned merely for using the word Trump (RightScoop), and I’ve really seen the true nature of ‘conservatives’ when one doesn’t agree with them. I just hope this ends well for everyone in the end and we don’t get another four years of American destruction. Trump and Cruz are the top 2. If it’s stolen from either at the convention there will be hell to pay. Then I’m sure we’ll be sharing ammo at some point. Stay cool bro.

OK, but that is back to the enemy of my enemy is my friend reasoning. That almost never proves to be true.

During WWII, the Soviet Union was the enemy of our enemy and we allied with them to defeat the Axis. Did they turn out to be our friend? The ISIS dirtbags in the Middle East have been trained and equipped by America in many cases. They were people who were enemies of our enemy Al Qaeda, are they our friends?

There are tons of examples throughout history. What is important is WHY is that group or person the enemy of my enemy? The GOPee doesn’t dislike Trump because he isn’t a member of the club, they know he is a member, someone who has practice graft for decades. They also know that he will want a slice of their pie for himself, that is what they hate about Trump.

Conversely, they hate Cruz because he can’t be bought, if he could, he would have been bought by now.

Trump will make deals with the GOPee and the DNC and that is exactly what is wrong with DC now. Cruz won’t, he will represent the American people and uphold the Constitution. That is the best way to bust up the oligarchy in both parties.

  • IslandLifer

I agree. The alternative is Alinsky’s student the ever horrific Shrill. I’ll be damned if I have anything to do with getting her elected and sealing the doom the O has started. If those who think Trump is a vote for Shrill they’ve got another thing coming and it won’t be pretty.

The “positive” variable is always the hope that either (R)candidate will eventually do what is right for America and not fuck it up (which we’ll only find out AFTER one is in office) – the ugly undeniable constant is the witch and her wardrobe of gulag guards who will end individual expression and reduce us to compliant puppets. That’s why individual opinion and expression is so important and what many people are so rapt to ignore – it is the soul of America and our only hope. Keep up what you feel you need to keep up. From the article you posted

Fields was indeed hurt in the altercation, and published a photograph of her bruises. Yet the available evidence from WPTV and ABC suggests that it was unlikely that Lewandowski was the person who caused her injuries.

Given the similarity in appearance between Lewandowski and the security official, and given the fact that Lewandowski was walking on the other side of Trump from where Fields was at the time, the possibility of mistaken identity cannot be ruled out. Indeed, given Lewandowski’s adamant denials (coupled with statements inappropriately impugning Fields’s character), it is the likeliest explanation.

    fact#1 Fields was hurt.

Fact#2 Corey admitted to him being the person who assaulted Fields.

hours after sources said Lewandowski acknowledged to Breitbart’s Washington political editor, Matthew Boyle, that he did manhandle Fields. Lewandowski’s explanation to Boyle, said these sources, was that he and Fields had never met before and that he didn’t recognize her as a Breitbart reporter, instead mistaking her for an adversarial member of the mainstream media.

Fact#3 There is a first hand witness of the assault.

So in conclusion – you lie. And so does Trump who said,

#Break: Donald Trump just told me he thinks that the Michelle Fields incident didn’t happen. “I think they made it up.”

P.S.: BTW denials by a campaign are not factual either as there is an inherent conflict of interest.

The BB article you have posted admits the physical damage and the very event of the assault.

Audio confirms the First hand witness identifying the suspect right there and then. The sources only confirm it.

    So you lie.

Right, the political class you are referring to are called Progressives, they exist in both parties. ALL Democrats are Progressives but most Establishment Republicans are as well. Boehner, McConnell, Ryan, McCain, Graham, et al., are all Progressives. If Romney had won in 2012, the difference between where would be now vs. where we actually are today is distance, not direction.

They lose a little if Trump wins but only until they make deal with him, Trump is the deal maker, remember? What was the big knock on Boehner? Deal making with the democrats. Same with McConnell and now Ryan. Adding another deal maker to the mix will not change our direction, only our velocity or more correctly our apparent velocity.

People often characterize what is happening as going over cliff, that is inaccurate. In reality, we are approaching the event horizon of a black hole. Once in it’s gravity well, there is no escape, not even light can escape. As we approach it though, there is a time dilation effect due to gravity and the bending of space-time that causes us to appear to move more slowly across the event horizon toward the blackhole. That is visible to us but to an outside observer we are actually still moving at a space normal velocity.

We are caught in the space-time warp of these political entities which make it appear that we are moving more slowly toward our doom when a R is elected than a D. In reality, we are still moving toward the same black hole at the same speed because both R and D are really Progressives.

Trump is another Progressive, he has supported Progressive causes and agendas all his adult life.

Cruz is not a Progressive, his record is clearly one of standing against the Progressive agenda regardless of which party it emanated from.

LOL, oh ok.. so you have nothing to put up against facts, including the new video that now shows Corey was right next to her. and your response is ‘conversation is over’

Run and hide from reality if that’s the only way you can deal with the truth.

DC is acting as if they lose everything if Trump wins. Right now, it is he who they are fighting against. I agree they hate Cruz, and don’t want him to be president, but right now the establishment is siding with Cruz to stop Trump.
At the convention, they’ll fight Cruz too. But right now, he is the establishment’s tool to stop Trump. Personally, I wish there was a way to combine forces and unite all anti-establishment republicans.
I hope that the people saying bad things about Cruz’s intentions are wrong, AND the people saying bad things about Trump’s intentions are wrong. The more true patriot leaders at the national level the better.
But if you are right about Trump, our enemy doesn’t appear to think so.

What the establishment does may affect Cruz and his candidacy but that does not equal helping him. Shooting the coyotes killing your chickens helps the fox but you aren’t on his side either.

Meanwhile, Trump is out urging his supporters to violence, since when is that acceptable from a presidential candidate? Hurting the GOP establishment may help the country but breaking their leg is not the same thing as giving them anthrax. If the virus spreads and kills the entire nation, what good does hurting the GOP do? A Trump presidency is akin to curing the disease by killing the patient.

Requiring a loyalty pledge to a man who calls for violence is a lesson that should have learned long ago. Trump does both. I will not follow such a man.

When did you hear him call for violence?
I hear lots of lies about Ted and Donald. I’ve learned not to trust DC media. (FOX, MSNBC, CNN, etc.)

The war I see is: The DC estabishment (s?) vs Donald Trump.
Step 1 in restoring our Republic is ousting the GOPligarchy.
The Oligarchy fights Trump like none other.
He cannot be on their side.

I’m no BLM supporter but a presidential candidate should not be calling for people who disagree with them to be “roughed up”. That’s bullshit.

Just curious, what good will it do to oust the GOPee oligarchy if it means Hillary wins the White House? She beats Trump imn almost every poll because people know there is no difference between them, both are Progressives.

You have to do BOTH, oust the GOP establishment AND oust the Progressive democrats. Consider this, what can a president Trump or Cruz do if the Congress is still led by Ryan and McConnell? Rule by executive fiat like Obama? What does that accomplish?

i don’t want ANY fiat rule. If Cruz was going to do that I’d oppose him as well. If we don’t elect a President in 2016 who follows the Constitution, we are toast. Trump won’t, Cruz will.

I disagree about Trump not following the Constitution. Right now, it appears the DC Oligarchy thinks he will too. Else they wouldn’t be spending mega-millions for Anti-Trump groups making Anti-Trump ads. And they are supporting Cruz against him. At least at this time, they don’t fear Cruz.

Electing a R progressive like Bush or Rubio is worse than electing a D progressive. That keeps the R vs D ruse going, when the real battle for power, as always, is between DC and The People.

Right now, a vote for Cruz is a vote supporting what DC wants. Cruz didn’t ask for it. I wish he would reject their ‘help’. But that is the alignment at this time. A vote for Cruz has become a vote for DC. A vote for Trump is a vote for defeating the GOPligarchy, and to begin the restoration of our Republic.
