Despite having reportedly admitted that he manhandled reporter Michelle Fields at a Trump event in Florida Tuesday, Trump’s campaign manager Corey Lewandowski now proclaims that this never occurred, and that Fields is a liar:
@MichelleFields you are totally delusional. I never touched you. As a matter of fact, I have never even met you.

However, the incident was well documented. From the transcript of an audio recording:
[Reporter Ben] Terris: “He really just almost threw you down on the ground.”
Fields: “He literally went like this and was grabbing me down. I don’t even what to do [about] what he just did to me. Oh my God, that really spooked me that someone would do that.”
Terris: “What threat were you?”
Fields: “Nothing. I was asking about affirmative action.”
Terris: “And he probably knows you, right?”
Fields: “Yeah, I don’t understand. That looks horrible. You’re going after a Breitbart reporter, the people who are nicest to you?”
Terris gives his eye witness report of the incident at the Washington Post.
To put it mildly, Fields is correct that Breitbart (a.k.a. “Trumpbart”) is nice to Trump — so nice that at first they barely objected to his consigliere roughing up their female reporter. Now Breitbart is basically siding with Lewandowski against Fields and Terris.
Trump’s cultish followers have abandoned independent thought to such an extreme as to crow triumphantly that Lewandowski never touched Fields, as if it were an established fact simply because the Trump campaign says so.
Fortunately, this was the extent of the damage of the supposedly imaginary attack:

Fields has filed charges. My guess is that she will soon be working for someone other than Breitbart.
Andrew Breitbart, who warned that Trump “is not a conservative” and that we could end up with a “celebrity candidate,” rolls ’round and ’round in his grave.
