Trump Is Unelectable

Timothy Carney puts it mildly:

If Republicans nominate Donald Trump, they nearly cede the White House to Hillary Clinton.

Nearly? They completely cede it, along with control of the Senate. If Trump were the Democrat plant he comes off as by portraying himself as a crude caricature of a boorish right-wing demagogue, he could not do a better job of throwing the election.

It isn’t just the polls Trumpsters used to love to cite. There are any number of reasons, some of which are briefly summarized here:

Trump hasn’t raised any money not because he is funding his own campaign, but because the mainstream media has been funding it for him by providing $2 billion worth of free exposure. But the media will turn on him like a pack of rabid dogs the moment he secures the nomination. That’s when he will require the organizational skills that he does not have, as Ted Cruz has made obvious by running circles around him to secure delegates. The Republican “Establishment” that Trump and his minions endlessly decry will not be highly motivated to assist a hostile takeover of their party. If Trump gets the nomination, the GOP will keep its distance and plan ahead for 2020, when he will be nothing more than a bad memory.

On a tip from Torcer.

Trump Goons Now Giving Out HOME Addresses & Phone Numbers in Colorado
Roger Stone has been threatening to send angry mobs of rabid Trump fans to the hotel rooms of delegates in Cleveland to make sure they vote the way he wants them to. You know, intimidating them into voting for Trump by storming their personal space. This we already know. Many of us have predicted that this was just going to be the beginning of their brownshirt tactics. The floodgates would open because they were told it was OK, just like they started beating up dissenters as soon as Donald gave them the go-ahead. Trumpbots are nothing if not compliant and obedient to their King.
And that prediction was correct. Take a look at this reaction to the legal, duly executed Colorado caucus (we blurred out the personal date even though it is widely available now).

That is one of my personal favorites, since A) nobody is doing that and B) the “& more” is very telling indeed. Will Trump be asked if he supports this? Will Roger Stone? Will the “and more” be part of the question?

The answer is no. No one will ask them.
Roger Stone and Donald Trump and all their little cable news mouthpieces are the ones stoking this fire and inciting this activity. And it will only get worse. They are telling you they won’t accept the rules of the party, the convention, or even the laws of the United States. They don’t care about that. They have their messiah. They will see him crowned whatever the cost.

    Donald J. Trump@realDonaldTrump
The people of Colorado had their vote taken away from them by the phony politicians. Biggest story in politics. This will not be allowed!

“Will not be allowed.” They heard his whistle. They know what to do. And they’re doing it.

Cruz is about as conservative as Che. He got his start with the NWO Bush Empire, supported TPP and expanding HB-1 visas as well as amnesty for aliens (while giving out TEDdy bears at the border). His wife wrote the text for the North American Union and serves as an operative for Globalism through her positions with the Big Banks and Goldman Sachs. “D.C. Outsider” Ted gets his biggest donations from Club for Growth, Morgan Lewis LLP, and Goldman Sachs. Without the GOP elites masterminding his candidacy, he would be floundering around Texas trying to prove that somebody in the Senate loves working with him.

Moreover, there is something rotten about his eligibility to run for the office. Somebody here should read the The Constitution regarding TWO U.S. citizen parents, born on U.S. soil and just how he had Canadian citizenship until two years ago when that country didn’t allow dual citizenships until 1977, well after his birth. Transparency, my eye. This guy is more opaque than the present person seated in the Executive branch.

    Never Cruz.

Yes Donald, Colorado Did Vote…On March 1st
If you’ve been on the internet this morning, you’ve seen the scathing headlines: “Republicans cancel presidential election in CO…” and “Fury as Colorado has no Primary or Caucus,” among others. The problem is that this is not exactly true. Colorado only briefly flirted with a binding primary, but even then the delegates were selected by a caucus-convention system. From 1912 – 1988, and 2004 to the present the delegates were not bound by a preferential vote. This year was no different.

In Colorado, a caucus is held to elect delegates to county assemblies and the county assemblies elect delegates to state and district assemblies where the delegates to the RNC are chosen. That is how it has worked over the past four presidential cycles, and it is nothing new for this year.

    Trump’s Big Colorado Lie https://shar.es/1juEBj via @sharethis

    Trump’s Big Colorado Lie
Donald J. Trump got crushed at the Colorado Republican state convention, where Ted Cruz swept the national delegate selection.

This sweep happened not because the convention was rigged, but because Trump did a horrible job of working the caucus process that led to the convention. Trump all but ignored the electoral process leading up to the convention, and didn’t even bother to go make a pitch himself at the convention, unlike Cruz who gave a speech on stage as Trump surrogates were furiously working to convince delegates to vote for Trump.

Throughout the process, there was no discernible complaint by Trump and his supporters so long as they thought they had a shot at winning, or at least eating into Cruz’s likely win.

Only after it was over, and Colorado together with Wisconsin created momentum for Cruz, did Trump and his supporters start alleging fraud and deceit. This was a classic “change the narrative” Trump ploy, much as he would roll out high-profile endorsements that morning after a debate.

So if you could be so kind, Please postEXCERPTS and Links from authentic reference sites to back up everything you have claimed.

And be advised that we DO NOT go in for the “Wild Goose Chase” scam where you post some bare link or demand others prove your points for you.

Those are your claims, therefor it is incumbent on YOU to back them up with Factual data.

What first comes to mind here is the fact that the way the primary (caucus) was set up in Colorado, was known by most everyone in Colorado and by anyone who took five minutes to check it out.
    .
And, it’s certainly head-scratching to me that Trump, who is supposedly the master at details and getting the deal done, didn’t have people working for him who had the foresight, smarts, or the preparation to know the very simple rules in this matter. If he becomes president, what’s going to happen when he needs to understand a complex foreign issue where laws, traditions, treaties, etc., come into play?
    .
Trump was asked many times by Coloradoans to go to the state to make an appearance and speak but he chose not to. Then after the brouhaha he said he didn’t even get a chance to speak there – when it was his choice not to…rather disingenuous to blame others, or the rules, for your mistakes.

“The only reason for not tarring and feathering any government official for effrontery when they tell us what to do is that their power to do so is somehow legitimate. But that legitimacy comes from the exercise of constitutional power. If the Constitution doesn’t mean anything, well, then, maybe it’s time to go long on pitchforks. Because without the Constitution the angry mob is just as legitimate as the perfumed princes of the state.”

“A nation can survive its fools, even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves against those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear. The traitor is the plague.” –Ibid.

Now and then the workers are victorious, but only for a time. The real fruit of their battles lies, not in the immediate result, but in the ever-expanding union of the workers. This union is helped on by the improved means of communication that are created by modern industry and that place the workers of different localities in contact with one another. It was just this contact that was needed to centralise the numerous local struggles, all of the same character, into one national struggle between classes. But every class struggle is a political struggle. And that union, to attain which the burghers of the Middle Ages, with their miserable highways, required centuries, the modern proletarians, thanks to railways, achieve in a few years.

In this present crisis, government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem. From time to time we’ve been tempted to believe that society has become too complex to be managed by self-rule, that government by an elite group is superior to government for, by, and of the people. But if no one among us is capable of governing himself, then who among us has the capacity to govern someone else?

Radio Host Gives the Most Brutal Smackdown on Why He’s #NeverTrump
Conservative Wisconsin radio host Charlie Sykes rose to national prominence following a heated interview with Donald Trump in the days prior to the Wisconsin primary, an election won by Texas Senator Ted Cruz
Megyn Kelly asked how Charlie Sykes and others could be #NeverTrump when being so, according to Kelly, was the equivalent of a vote for Hillary Clinton.

“Well, Donald Trump is a serial liar, a con man who mocks the disabled and women. He’s a narcissist and a bully, a man with no fixed principles who has the vocabulary of an emotionally insecure nine-year-old.

So, no, I don’t want to give him control of the IRS, the FBI, and the nuclear codes — that’s just me.”

“I do see the rats swimming toward the sinking ship,” Sykes analogized, noting that his staunch opposition to Donald Trump is much more than ideological.

The reality is, if you support him to be president of the United States, that is who you are and you own it,” Sykes proclaimed.

Sykes predicted a blowout for Democrats in November but noted that he has been fighting hard the past six months to try to stop this unfortunate situation from happening.

Note to Trump supporters: Calling Cruz supporters ‘traitors’ won’t win the election

Dear Trump supporter for the last 14 months you have insulted me, my friends and my family. You have clogged my posts and comment threads with misspelled hate speech, hashtags and bad grammar,

For fourteen months you have accused me of being a liberal, a Hillary lover, an establishment hack, a phony conservative, and a traitor for supporting Ted Cruz.

You have left threatening, vile messages in my FB message inbox. You have put threats and vile comments about my children and my wife on the family photos I posted.

You have lied about and bad mouthed my candidate. You have attacked and beaten up, and sucker punched people peacefully protesting your rallies.

For the last 14 months – Trump has knowingly lied and falsely attacked the other candidates, women, handicapped people, and minorities. Trump has encouraged violence and meanspiritedness at his rallies and among his followers and you have been happy to disseminate it; colluding with democrats to hijack and corrupt our electoral process and lower the political dialog into the gutter.

Here’s a newsflash: Conservatives are not Ivanna Trump.

You don’t get to verbally abuse us, slap us around, tear out our hair and then turn around and act like everything is OK and we OWE you and your sleazy, scumbag, liberal statist fuehrer, Herr Trump our vote.

Trump hasn’t earned it – and you haven’t earned the right to insist we give it to him.

Trump is a boorish, entitled, constitutionally illiterate liberal windbag and his supporters are thugs.

I have a reality check for for Trump and his thug army:

The democrats who helped you nominate him against the will of the GOP majority are going to stab you in the back in November. So – If Trump can’t win without the votes of the people whose values he does not represent, and who his supporters have spent the last year verbally abusing – then Trump DESERVES to lose to Hillary, you all have another thing coming.

Screw Trump – I’m writing in Cruz. And if Hillary wins then you should have thought of that before acting like a bunch of thugs and extortionists for the last 14 months.

And Hillary thanks you for your unwitting cooperation.

This post seems to encapsulates the feelings many Cruz supporters have. While those who support Trump are certainly justified in trying to reach out to those who supported Cruz, they need to learn that threats and intimidation are not going to work.

If anything, they will only drive Cruz supporters farther from Trump.

    ======================

Note to Trump supporters: Calling Cruz supporters ‘traitors’ won’t win the election
I have noticed a very disturbing trend since Sen. Ted Cruz
    97%
, R-Texas, suspended his campaign for the White House. It seems that a number of Trump supporters have decided to intimidate, harass and threaten Cruz supporters for saying they will not vote for Donald Trump.

Some have even gone so far as to call Cruz supporters “traitors.”

Another person wrote: “Treason? Trump is NOT my king! My loyalty is to the U.S., the Constitution and freedom. I am therefore both #NEVERTRUMP and #NEVERHILLARY!

“Besides,” another person added, “Trump says he does not need our support.” Many others echoed those sentiments.

In a lengthy post addressed to Trump supporters in general, another person, identified as Chris Martineau, a person who, after posting this publicly in the group without any source or citation, complained that it was included in this article, wrote:

Dear Trump supporter for the last 14 months you have insulted me, my friends and my family. You have clogged my posts and comment threads with misspelled hate speech, hashtags and bad grammar,

Experts Revise Trump’s Tax Plan to Include Massive Tax Hikes

For people who are planning on voting for Trump in November, Trump has a message: he hopes you aren’t particularly attached to any of the specifics in any of his plans, because they are subject to major, massive revision without notice. And if you think that’s bad, wait until he gets to office and starts negotiating awesome deals with Democrats.

The latest Trump plan to undergo butchering and revision mid-campaign has been Trump’s tax plan. First came Trump’s own admission that the whole thing was really more of a negotiating position than an actual plan, combined with his bumbling over whether he planned to raise taxes on the wealthy. Now, Trump has asked some conservative economists to revise his tax plan to meet a certain deficit reduction target.

The result? Massive tax hikes as compared to his original plan:

Conservative economists Larry Kudlow and Steve Moore, tasked by Donald Trump’s campaign to revise his tax plan, have called their changes “tweaks” but what they submitted to the nonprofit Tax Foundation for a new deficit score amounts to a dramatic rewrite of Trump’s original plan.

The new plan, compared against Trump’s initial proposal, would increase tax rates across all income levels, dramatically reduce the number of people who would pay no income taxes at all and impose a new cap on charitable deductions for the wealthy.

Trump Backs Away from His Proposed ‘Muslim Ban’ http://natl.re/MqtLpM via @NRO

Trump Backs Away from His Proposed ‘Muslim Ban’
Since he locked up the Republican presidential nomination, Donald Trump has furiously backtracked on a number of key positions he took during the heated primary.

As my colleague Jim Geraghty has written: “Within 24 hours of becoming the presumptive Republican nominee, Donald Trump had reversed his positions on tax increases, paying down the debt, raising the minimum wage, and self-financing his campaign. It was a busy day.”

Now, Trump seems to be backing away from one of the three signature issues (renegotiating trade agreements and building the border wall are the other two) that added rocket fuel to his quixotic presidential campaign: the “temporary Muslim entry ban.”

Also on Wednesday, in response to a question from Fox News Radio’s Brian Kilmeade, Trump defended the proposed ban, while also appearing to hedge his bets. “We have a serious problem, and it’s a temporary ban — it hasn’t been called for yet, nobody’s done it, this is just a suggestion until we find out what’s going on,” Trump said.

But what interests me more is this: If Trump will back away on this, what won’t he backtrack on?

Trump’s enthusiasts have repeatedly said that Donald J. Trump is the only candidate in the race who won’t bow to pressure, political correctness, or political expediency. Maybe not.

‘Free Republic’ Now A Safe Space for Donald Trump Supporters
Apparently you have to stifle debate in order to protect freedom.
    May 12, 2016
On the right, we’ve grown to pride ourselves on our greater openness to debate and ideas, on having no need to toe a Politically Correct line or crawl into a “safe space” like pampered college kids who just can’t handle hearing from anyone who disagrees with them.

Yet somehow I wasn’t surprised to see Donald Trump supporters, those swaggering tough guys, turn one of their favorite Internet forums into a safe space where they no longer need to encounter criticism or opposition. Earlier today, Free Republic proprietor Jim Robinson announced that the discussion board would no longer tolerate opposition to Trump’s candidacy.

His rationale? Because Hillary Clinton is a communist, which gives you an idea of the degree of hyperbole that is normal on the site.

Incidentally, this comes a day after Robinson launched a fund-raising drive in which he declared that “We are beholden to no political party,” and that Freepers, as they call themselves, are “fiercely independent and enjoy our freedom to speak plainly.” Unless you’re skeptical about the Coiffed Avenger.

Thanks to a recent decision by the Supreme Tribunal (TSJ), I’ve been able to get in touch with that part of my psyche. And sort of come to terms with it. But we’ll get back to that.

Lately, I’ve been having the weirdest dream. I enter a house, probably in Prados del Este, Santa Mónica, or San Antonio. A woman receives me in the foyer, it’s Daniella Cabello. It’s a PG dream, sorry. She walks me in, serves me a rum and coke, and shows me to the living room. Sitting in a victorian chair, like a modern day Napoleon, is her father: Diosdado Cabello. I’m scared, but I sit down anyway. He raises a glass of rum and coke, ¡salud! And we start drinking, and chatting, and making jokes, and talking about life, the Universe, you know, everything. And you know what? I really liked him. He was such a good host, such a great guy.

Am I a closet chavista? Do I secretly admire them? Do I want to be their friend? Is my inner little Gollum winning this battle? The thought has troubled me for weeks.

Some days later I dreamt that Donald Trump joined us. And he was lovely too! And Diosdado and him toasted their billions away, and Donald made a pass at Daniella, and Diosdado didn’t care, and we were such a happy bunch. And this? What the hell could this mean? Well, probably that Donald will jump to the left once he gets the official nomination to grab all those disenfranchised Bernie Bros who hate Hillary, but we’re waaay off track now.

    Ted Nesi@TedNesi
RNC’s @SeanSpicer talks Trump on NM: “He has not focused on a general election strategy yet”https://t.co/G1uWh2FHNs

Think about that for a second. We are barely four months out from the election. For all intents and purposes, Trump became the nominee nearly two months ago. And “he has not focused on a general election strategy yet.” This is not a lip-slip or misspeak.

It meshes perfectly with the information perking up from GOP field operatives who are saying that no one in the Trump campaign has contacted them about what to do. When, pray tell, will he begin focusing on a general election?

Trump: I won’t REALLY start campaigning against Hillary until AFTER THE CONVENTION!
Trump revealed the great grand awesome Donald plan to win the election – he’s gonna take it easy for a month, let Hillary destroy him in the polls, and then eventually get around to it after the convention.

    Sounds legit:
    https://youtu.be/q3fTH9PL4Js
I guess he doesn’t realize that Hillary is kicking his toupee in fundraising, and in advertising in battleground states, and in the polls, and nearly everywhere else. She’s even beating him in favorability now!!!

And Trump supporters are supposed to wait until after the convention to see him attack Hillary? I guess it takes a lot longer than he thought to utterly discredit and destroy the Republican party.

Trump’s Latest… The Art of Losing
Either Donald Trump is the most incompetent politician I have ever seen, or he is throwing this election. Yesterday started off badly for the Trump campaign and got progressively worse.

Trump is losing ground, not gaining out there. All the propaganda and conned masses in the world can’t change the fact that everywhere you look, Trump is despised and not wanted as president.

So, we have a candidate with a Democratic history and his children who are ostensibly running his campaign and have a Democratic history. We have a team that is imploding and what few that are on staff are being fired. Trump has spent the past few weeks doing almost everything you would do if you were trying to throw an election, from attacking a federal judge over his Mexican heritage to not building a serious ground game or actively raising the money necessary to wage a credible campaign for the presidency. He’s not savaging Clinton as you would expect him to and he is not making nice with the GOP or the delegates.

For all the world it looks to me as if Trump is looking for an exit or is simply going to ‘lose’ to Hillary and then blame others for it, while enriching himself once again and maybe getting a news network or something out of the deal. Clinton is leading Trump even with all her scandals and the fact that everyone hates her to pieces. Trump should write a new book: The Art of Losing. It would be a best seller after this fiasco.

Leaked Emails Show That Trump Was a Tool Used by the Hillary Campaign From Day One

    October 8, 2016
Calling them the “pied piper” candidates, team Hillary describes Trump, Cruz, and Carson as nominees that could – if handled properly – make the extreme the mainstream.

“We need to be elevating the Pied Piper candidates so that they are leaders of the pack and tell the press to them seriously,” it said in the email.
    http://www.redstate.com/uploads/2016/10/Screen-Shot-2016-10-08-at-4.11.17-PM.png

The summary is that the DNC and the Clinton campaign wanted Trump to be Hillary’s opponent because they knew his extreme stances could be used to alienate and divide. They could then use these candidates to paint the Republican party as a whole as something dangerous.

Trump was a tool for Hillary’s campaign all along. She wanted the press to take Trump seriously, put him up as the most viable option for Republicans, and the right took the bait, hook, line, and sinker. Now with the Trump campaign burning to the ground, and GOP leaders walking away due to his recent comments, the Clinton campaign’s plan to put Hillary on top is coming to fruition.

In short, the Republicans have been played. Trump was a unknowing puppet for Hillary from the get-go, and the right – though some had very strong suspicions – didn’t know it.

Trump recorded having extremely lewd conversation about women in 2005 http://wapo.st/2dSXbkQ?

Trump recorded having extremely lewd conversation about women in 2005
Donald Trump bragged in vulgar terms about kissing, groping and trying to have sex with women during a 2005 conversation caught on a hot microphone, saying that “when you’re a star, they let you do it,” according to a video obtained by The Washington Post.

The video captures Trump talking with Billy Bush, then of “Access Hollywood,” on a bus with the show’s name written across the side. They were arriving on the set of “Days of Our Lives” to tape a segment about Trump’s cameo on the soap opera.

Late Friday night, following sharp criticism by Republican leaders, Trump issued a short video statement saying, “I said it, I was wrong, and I apologize.” But he also called the revelation “a distraction from the issues we are facing today.” He said that his “foolish” words are much different than the words and actions of Bill Clinton, whom he accused of abusing women, and Hillary Clinton, whom he accused of having “bullied, attacked, shamed and intimidated his victims.”

“I’ve never said I’m a perfect person, nor pretended to be someone that I’m not. I’ve said and done things I regret, and the words released today on this more than a decade-old video are one of them. Anyone who knows me knows these words don’t reflect who I am,” Trump said.

In an apparent response to Republican critics asking him to drop out of the race, he said: “We will discuss this more in the coming days. See you at the debate on Sunday.”

The tape includes audio of Bush and Trump talking inside the bus, as well as audio and video once they emerge from it to begin shooting the segment.

In that audio, Trump discusses a failed attempt to seduce a woman, whose full name is not given in the video.

“I moved on her, and I failed. I’ll admit it,” Trump is heard saying. It was unclear when the events he was describing took place. The tape was recorded several months after he married his third wife, Melania.

    “Whoa,” another voice said.

“I did try and f— her. She was married,” Trump says.

Trump continues: “And I moved on her very heavily. In fact, I took her out furniture shopping. She wanted to get some furniture. I said, ‘I’ll show you where they have some nice furniture.’”

This Amazing Leaked Clinton Email from Wikileaks Reveals the Truth of this Election
Wikileaks is not a particularly virtuous website or endeavor, but once the information has been leaked and shared across thousands of websites, the careful rejection of possible manipulation by the Russkies becomes essentially moot. So when Hillary emails are leaked, and they are shared, and people report on them, it’s irresponsible NOT to share that info with one’s readers.

So we bring you this leaked Hillary Clinton and Co. email that is incredibly revealing and basically tells you exactly what’s going wrong right now in America.
    http://therightscoop.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/PiedPiperCandidates.jpg
Hillary Clinton and her team wanted Donald Trump to be the candidate. They wanted this because it was her only chance of winning. If you haven’t kept up with the polls and the electoral college prospects, rest assured, that strategy is working great.

Follow along here: Dems control the MSM. Dems want Trump to win primary. Dems instruct press to take him seriously so he will get elected (you will note this is part of the strategy outline above.) Dems vote in primary. Trump wins primary. Hillary is winning election.

    Status: Achievement unlocked.

This is what they planned, and with the media’s help, it’s what they got. And frankly, after watching Trump’s behavior, and in light of his destruction of the Republican party at all levels, they are not only getting a bargain but it’s not even slightly hard to imagine his complicity.

    Awesome.

Trump Supporters Want Nancy Pelosi In the Speaker’s Chair
For months we have heard from Trump supporters that we have a moral duty to support him because of judges and the Supreme Court. We have heard we have to support Trump to stop the excesses of the left. We have heard all sorts of excuses for supporting the braying jackass, but at the end, as the train comes off the rails, we see it was and is a cult of personality.

Because Paul Ryan has told House Republicans to focus on their races and not Trump, Trump supporters have decided they want to beat Paul Ryan. But many are going beyond that and declaring they’ll vote for Democrats down ballot.

The reality, though, is that Donald Trump is going to lose. Hillary Clinton is well ahead and early voting has begun. More dirt will be coming out on Donald Trump this week to further suppress Christian voters by showing what an immoral lout he is.

Campaign 2016 is over in all but calendar days. Trump’s supporters are revealing their true nature. They are not principled, nor are they really opposed to Washington. They are in a cult of personality and only care about getting Donald Trump elected. With his defeat now a certainty they will put not only Hillary Clinton in the White House, but hand the Democrats both houses of congress and the Supreme Court.

Donald Trump has always been a Democrat. He was a Clinton donor and a Pelosi donor. Just a few short years ago, he called Nancy Pelosi “the greatest.” And now he has his supporters putting Clinton, Pelosi and the like in power.

The moment Trump got the GOP nomination, Hillary Clinton’s election was guaranteed. Now her donor will help her get a congressional majority as well.

Lucky for them, they got what they wanted and now he’s in absolute freefall in the polls.

And what’s even sadder is that he gives Ted Cruz even odds with Hillary. In an alternate universe, Cruz would be close or beating Hillary. Meanwhile, in our reality he’s making sad phone calls for Trump.

Trump’s path to an electoral college victory isn’t narrow. It’s non-existent.
    October 18
The trajectory of the 2016 presidential race — which will result in a Hillary Clinton victory — remains largely unchanged from May, when Donald Trump and Clinton were in the process of wrapping up their nominations.

Trump continues to be his own worst enemy, saying or tweeting things that only fuel chatter about his current and past views, values and behavior. His comments about people — from Vladimir Putin and Alicia Machado to some of the women who have accused him of sexual assault — have kept the focus on him at a time when he should be making the election a referendum on Clinton.

No, Trump’s supporters have not turned on him. But he trails badly with only a few weeks to go until Nov. 8, and he must broaden his appeal to have any chance of winning. That is now impossible.

Clinton’s personal ratings among registered voters remain terrible. A mind-boggling 62 percent of respondents in the Washington Post/ABC News poll said that she is not “honest and trustworthy,” and 57 percent of those polled said they had an unfavorable view of her.

Yet these numbers help explain why Clinton is ahead in the race and could win by a large margin: Trump’s numbers are even worse.
    [..]
Frankly, the writing has been on the wall for months about this race. You simply needed to look at the candidates, their campaign teams, the map and the voters.

The public’s mood certainly offered Trump an opportunity to make the election about Clinton and the president, and a serious Republican nominee could have taken advantage of the desire for change and Clinton’s baggage to win the race. But Donald Trump was always the worst messenger possible for delivering that message.

Greg Gutfeld: ‘Rigged’ Media Made Trump GOP Nominee [VIDEO]
Greg Gutfeld of FOX News’ The Five argued that yes, the media is “rigged,” but not exactly in the way that Donald Trump has been loudly complaining about.

Sure the media has turned on Trump — like the do every Republican nominee — but in Gutfeld’s view, as many others have argued as well, the media built up Trump with unprecedented amounts of free media, dwarfing any other GOP candidate by many multiples, building him up in the primary, only to destroy him in the general election.

    https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CdmM5cBWAAAS7nJ.jpg
How much is all that free media Donald Trump gets worth? We think we know.
    https://t.co/Gu6wvmpikV

“True, the media is rigged, but it was rigged for Trump all damn year,” Gutfeld stated. “He got more free media than the weather, dwarfing not just his primary foes but Hillary as well. If it wasn’t for the media who fell over Trump every time he sneezed, we’d have a different candidate,” he asserted.

Many have suggested that Democrats plotted and schemed to promote Trump as the GOP nominee, knowing that he would be the easiest of the other 16 Republicans running for Hillary Clinton to defeat because he cancels out most of Clinton’s negatives and represents negative stereotypes Democrats have tried to pin on Republicans for years.

    Headline of the year:

If there was any question as to why the national socialist left supports Trump:

Team Clinton thankful for Trump 07/07/16
Hillary Clinton’s campaign has something to be thankful for in the wake of the FBI’s scathing criticism of her personal email setup: She’s running against Donald Trump.

Clinton supporters acknowledged that the public criticism is bad news and will make it that much tougher for their candidate to improve on poor trust numbers with voters.

The silver lining, they say, is that their Republican opponent is even less liked and trusted.

“I don’t think it’s that hard given the liar she’s running against,” one Clinton aide said of Trump, the presumptive GOP presidential nominee. “Her opponent is going to help her just by being who he is.”

Democrats say the comfort in those numbers is that their candidate does better in other categories than Trump, such as having the experience to be president.

Still, they acknowledge Clinton would be in deep trouble against other opponents.

“If she was running against [Ohio Gov. John] Kasich or [Florida Sen. Marco] Rubio, she’d be in real trouble and we’d be talking about finding another candidate before the [Democratic National Convention],” said Brad Bannon, a Democratic strategist. “What happened yesterday would be a deal breaker against someone else. … She’s basically walking on the edge with this kind of stuff.”

A CBS News poll out last month showed that Clinton, ever after more than a year of negative stories about the email controversy, was just ahead of Trump when voters were asked whether they thought if either candidate was honest. Thirty-three percent found Clinton honest, compared to 32 percent who found Trump honest. Sixty-two percent said Clinton was untrustworthy, and 63 percent said Trump was untrustworthy.

Separately, a Qunnipiac University poll released last month showed voters believe Trump is more honesty and trustworthy than Clinton, 45 percent to 37 percent.

Democrats say the comfort in those numbers is that their candidate does better in other categories than Trump, such as having the experience to be president.

Pre-Primary News Coverage of the 2016 Presidential Race: Trump’s Rise, Sanders’ Emergence, Clinton’s Struggle
    June 13, 2016
A new report from Harvard Kennedy School’s Shorenstein Center on Media, Politics and Public Policy analyzes news coverage of the 2016 presidential candidates in the year leading up to the primaries. This crucial period, labeled “the invisible primary” by political scientists, is when candidates try to lay the groundwork for a winning campaign—with media exposure often playing a make or break role.

The report shows that during the year 2015, major news outlets covered Donald Trump in a way that was unusual given his low initial polling numbers—a high volume of media coverage preceded Trump’s rise in the polls. Trump’s coverage was positive in tone—he received far more “good press” than “bad press.” The volume and tone of the coverage helped propel Trump to the top of Republican polls.

The Shorenstein Center study is based on an analysis of thousands of news statements by CBS, Fox, the Los Angeles Times, NBC, The New York Times, USA Today, The Wall Street Journal, and The Washington Post. The study’s data were provided by Media Tenor, a firm that specializes in the content analysis of news coverage.
    Introduction
What’s the best predictor of which candidate will win the presidential nomination? The winner of the Iowa caucus? The winner of the New Hampshire primary?

Actually neither is as good an indicator as the winner of what political scientists call “the invisible primary”—the period before a single primary or caucus vote is cast.

Of all the indicators of success in the invisible primary, media exposure is arguably the most important. Media exposure is essential if a candidate is to rise in the polls. Absent a high poll standing, or upward momentum, it’s difficult for a candidate to raise money, win endorsements, or even secure a spot in the pre-primary debates.
    [..]
Much has been written about the role that free media played in propelling Donald Trump to the Republican nomination. His level of news coverage during the invisible primary easily outpaced that of his Republican rivals. “What I know,” Ted Cruz complained, “is that the media was involved in a lovefest, giving Donald Trump two billion dollars in free media.”[5]
