John Boehner Viciously Denounces Cruz, Embraces Trump

Trump never had any intention of fighting the RINO establishment. His goal has always been to hijack it for his own self-aggrandizing purposes. This has become all the more obvious now that the quintessential RINO establishmentarian John Boehner has effectively endorsed him:

“You can call me boner, beaner, jackass, happy to answer to almost anything,” said former Speaker of the House John Boehner as he took the stage at CEMEX Auditorium on Wednesday evening. Boehner joined David M. Kennedy, faculty director and history professor emeritus, in a talk hosted by Stanford in Government (SIG) and the Stanford Speakers Bureau.

Although jackass works, liberal, statist, and Obama collaborator would be more precise appellations.

Kennedy asked Boehner to be frank given that the event was not being broadcasted, and the former Speaker responded in kind. When specifically asked his opinions on Ted Cruz, Boehner made a face, drawing laughter from the crowd.

“Lucifer in the flesh,” the former speaker said. “I have Democrat friends and Republican friends. I get along with almost everyone, but I have never worked with a more miserable son of a b**** in my life.”

Boehner described other Republican candidates as friends. In particular, the former speaker said he has played golf with Donald Trump for years and that they were “texting buddies.”

Polishing his liberal establishment bona fides, Boehner proclaimed that he would vote for Trump in the general election but not Ted Cruz, the only conservative in the race. (Last month he said he would support his fellow liberal RINO Paul Ryan at a contested convention.)

Although unwilling to openly embrace their policies, he praised the communist Bernie Sanders as a nice guy and Shrillary as accomplished and smart, and confirmed that he gets along well with Obama.

It isn’t just Cruz; the dislike conservatives in general feel for Boehner is heartily returned:

Throughout the talk, Boehner frequently referenced the Freedom Caucus as the “knuckleheads” and “goofballs” in Congress.

On behalf of conservatives, Cruz responds:

The cruel irony is that some who have not been paying attention or who are not thinking clearly actually believe they are somehow rebelling against Boehner et al. by supporting Trump against establishment nemesis Ted Cruz.

Cheeto-faced statists look out for each other.

“You can call me boner, beaner, jackass, happy to answer to almost
    anything,”

How about “traitor”, “embezzler”, “liar”, and “unhanged scoundrel”?

That said, why is Cruz still demanding the nomination? He literally can’t get it on delegates at this point. Is he hoping he’ll be offered it during the Convention? (If so, then I must laugh. As if these people who despise him so would ever allow it.)

Donald Trump sure as hell does not require the political help of Boehner. He is probably the worst Speaker of the House ever, except of course Pelosi, and the jury is still out on Ryan, but it does not look good.

Ted Cruz’s Epic Response to Boehner Calling him “Lucifer” (VIDEO)

Ted Cruz responded to Boehner’s nasty comments today, remarking that Boehner allowed his “inner Trump” to come out.

    Watch Cruz’s spot-on response below:
    https://youtu.be/b6oBClpan-s
    TRANSCRIPT

Cruz: John Boehner had some interesting comments last night. He actually didn’t abbreviate what he said, he was a little bit more expressive- he allowed his inner Trump to come out. You know I will say this, if you are wondering who actually has stood up to Washington, I think John Boehner has made it crystal clear. John Boehner and his remarks describe Donald Trump as his “texting and golfing buddy.” So if you want someone that’s a texting and golfing buddy, if you’re happy with John Boehner as speaker of the house, and you want a president like John Boehner, Donald Trump’s your man. Boehner’s comments- he said something like “he’s the worst SOB I’ve ever worked with,” something like that–

Woman interjecting off screen: Lucifer in the flesh.

    Cruz: [..]
If John Boehner is calling me “Lucifer,” he’s not directing that at me. He’s directing that at you.

Darling, odds are I’m farther right than you are. But let’s not be personal about it, because after all, neither of us is running for king–I mean, president.

Of course the GOP will field a candidate. If Trump doesn’t get it on delegates, they’ll thrash it out and come up with someone else to put on the ballot, even if they have to dust off Bob Dole. But if it’s true that they all hate Cruz so much, then why would they give it to him?

Donald Trump’s chances against Hillary Clinton look far worse than Ted Cruz’s
    April 28
Thanks to the polling gurus at Real Clear Politics, we can compare how Trump and Cruz fare in head to head match-ups. Here’s Trump:
    https://img.washingtonpost.com/wp-apps/imrs.php?src=https://img.washingtonpost.com/blogs/the-fix/files/2016/04/Screen-Shot-2016-04-28-at-9.02.01-AM.png&w=1484
    And here’s Cruz:
    https://img.washingtonpost.com/wp-apps/imrs.php?src=https://img.washingtonpost.com/blogs/the-fix/files/2016/04/Screen-Shot-2016-04-28-at-9.03.46-AM.png&w=1484
Cruz is clearly the stronger of the two candidates in a match-up against Clinton. While he trails her, it’s by three points as opposed to the 8.5 point deficit for Trump. And, unlike Trump, Cruz actually has led Clinton in head-to-head polls — albeit during a relatively brief period earlier this year.

Those polling charts, of course, capture the state of the race today — a race that hasn’t truly engaged in any meaningful way just yet. Things can and do change!

Trump has insisted that once he gets started on Clinton — which he says he has not yet done — then the numbers will immediately begin to move in his direction. Given what Trump has done in the race so far, I’m not ready to say he’s wrong about that, although his poll numbers among some key demographic groups — married women, for one — suggest his road to competitiveness against Clinton is more difficult than he seems to think.

  • Mr. Freemarket

Abe Lincoln was became the GOP nominee on the third vote.

It has been done this way for over 150 years, why is it all of a sudden a problem? Just because tRump doesn’t understand or like it?

Lincoln AND Eisenhower were both nominated at a contested conventions after failing to have enough candidates and going through several rounds of voting on the floor. If tRump gets to 1237, he wins the nomination, if he doesn’t, he has to go to the convention and convince the delegates he should be the guy. If he isn’t up to that task, he isn’t ready to be President.

  • Auburn Rapunzel

Why are we talking about Trump all of a sudden? I was wondering why Cruz is appointing his VP and continuing to push for the nomination when he’s locked out of this round and has to face a hostile party at a contested convention, but…

…Sure, okay. Maybe he’ll be able to sway Trump’s delegates on a large scale. And if we’re extra super-lucky, a tornado will swoop down and eliminate Trump, Hillary, AND Sanders for us!

(And before you screech something about how I’m obviously a paid Trump shill, no. I’m just pointing out that Cruz isn’t so likely at this point, so please don’t get too excited. I don’t have to support anyone in this race, do I?)

If it’s contested – and it might be if Cruz wins Indiana – then it will go to a second ballot. Cruz has spent this ENTIRE primary process talking and meeting personally (hard dedicated work) with ALL the delegate groups from every state. Trump hasn’t done this at all and sometimes hasn’t even gone to a state. Second ballot delegates are solidly in the Cruz tank. Like you say, it’s as simple as our ABC’s – Anybody But Clinton. True. I think I’ve only seen one poll in three months that actually had him with statistical error. Most of the rest were easy wins to Hillary.
What must be understood is that this is when Trump is getting a free ride from the media. If he became the nominee, any fence-sitters will run away. His number are categorically guaranteed to worsen form being behind; there is zero chance of President Trump.

Insiders: Clinton would crush Trump in November
In the swing states that matter most in the presidential race, Donald Trump doesn’t have a prayer against Hillary Clinton in the general election.

That’s according to top operatives, strategists and activists in 10 battleground states who participated in this week’s POLITICO Caucus. Nearly 90 percent of them said Clinton would defeat Trump in their home states in a November match-up.

Republicans are only slightly more bullish on Trump’s prospects than Democrats: More than three-quarters of GOP insiders expect Clinton to best the Republican front-runner in a general-election contest in their respective states. Among Democrats, the belief is nearly universal: 99 percent of surveyed said will Clinton will beat Trump.

Looking ahead to the general election, Republican insiders fretted that if Trump is at the top of the ticket, he will not only lose in a landslide, but will also endanger Republicans on the rest of the ballot.

The mind boggles that after 7 years of Obama this could happen. To go backwards! If Trump is the nominee what do you think? Hillary gets 40 states? Even more? SMH.

So, in other words, you do recognize contradictions but you’re unwilling to acknowledge them?

  • FVS

Don’t try and put words in my mouth there slick. I recognise that there is a difference between the entertainment venue of a mass rally and the more serious presentation of a policy speech. I’ve been around politicians since I celebrated my eighth birthday in the White House with President Eisenhower.

  • Torcer

As someone well versed in history I can say in all honesty that the Han Solo quote is very appropriate here – I’ve got a bad feeling about this.

IF the nod goes to Donald I cannot see him winning.
And if the Donners think they are mad now, it will be a mere pittance compared to how people feel about them in the future…

I tired to make this clear to one of the Donners around here that back in the 20’s & 30′ everyone in Germany was a fan of Hitler (Oh NOOO!! I used THAT Name, now the sky will fall…)

Then after Germany’s defeat, no one would claim they had supported the man.

But of course, the Donner didn’t take to kindly to invading her safe space and flew off the proverbial handle….

IF event’s take place as expected we will once again have a similar repeat of that history..

  • 762×51

    You mean tour de farce.

That was the most shallow, meaningless foreign policy speech I have ever heard. tRump makes Obama look like a foreign policy guru by comparison.

  • 762×51

That requires independent thought and a greater than room temperature IQ. None of the Trumpettes have those abilities.

tRumps substance free “foreign policy” speech was ridiculously devoid of solutions. It was at best a mediocre recitation of recent history and how bad it has been., yet this imbecile thinks it was a “tour de force”, ludicrous.

  • FVS

    You wish.

  • 762×51

No moron, I deal in reality. You and Vladimir Putin are only ones who thinks the speech was great. Of course, Marxist Progressives and Communists are all cut from the same cloth. I’m sure you are quite comfortable with that.

  • FVS

So clearly then you didn’t actually read the transcript. I doubt you could even elucidate what you have been told to think what is wrong with it. But please go ahead and try. I haven’t had a good laugh ywt today. I suspect whatever truth you know about history could be inserted into and ants butt and would still roll around like a BB in a box car. If tRump doesn’t get 1237 delegates, no one is locked out, those are the rules and everyone, except tRump, has known that for over 150 years. The delegate system is based on the system set up by the founders in that it uses a representative form of electing (nominating) candidates. It, like America itself is not a democracy, it is a republic utilizing a republican process, thus the party name Republican.

Cruz doesn’t need to sway tRump delegates “on a large scale” as many of them are already pro Cruz but bound to tRump for the first ballot. If “the donald” doesn’t make 1237 on the first ballot, all bets are off. It has always worked this way. Two of our greatest Presidents, Lincoln and Eisenhower, came out of contested Republican conventions.

If tRump and his supporters are so enamored of democracy and the tyranny of the majority it breeds, they all should go join the Democrat party which is where Progressives like he and his supporters really belong anyway.
