Venezuelan Postcards From Our Socialist Future

Socialism is inevitably transitioning from soft tyranny to increasingly hard tyranny in Venezuela. Nicolas Maduro now rules as a tyrant, without so much as a pretense of the consent of the governed. If we keep following along the same collectivist path, the pictures below represent what we have to look forward to.

The socialist government took control of the ferry service that runs between Puerto La Cruz and the main tourist destination in Venezuela, the island Margarita. Behold the result:

It sank at the pier for reasons unknown, but probably having to do with corruption and mismanagement. Former senior Maduro honcho Hebert Garcia Plaza has been exiled for buying used ferries that are supposed to be new.

One reason Venezuela was the richest country in South America prior to its misadventure in socialism is that it may have the world’s largest oil reserves. But the government seized control of the oil industry too. Behold the result:

Venezuelans are sitting on a lake of oil, yet there is very little gasoline. Of what little can be acquired, 80% is imported. Milton Friedman famously said that if you put Big Government in charge of the Sahara, in 5 years you would have a shortage of sand. He was right, as usual.

The ostensible purpose of socialism is to eliminate wealth inequalities. This is accomplished by isolating the ruling class from shortages, then reducing everyone else to a lowest common denominator of bare subsistence. Behold the results:

venezuelan eating garbage

This lucky person has found some edible garbage. It is now the national cuisine:

The food crisis in the country has no end in sight, and local industrial production is only 40 percent of its installed capacity because of controls imposed on the economy.

The long lines to buy food have continued to grow, as well as the number of people who find themselves obliged to eat from the garbage.

They are not necessarily homeless. More and more working people, who do not have enough money to eat have done it out of necessity.

One of the world’s great conservatives who fully grasped the concept of freedom through capitalism.

If only we could have cloned her and Ronald Reagan.

Oh, it’s going to be waaaaayyy worse than that. Remember, Venezulans are an unarmed, captive society, not so in America. Both tRump AND Clinton supporters are saying that they will not accept the results of the election if their guy loses. For my part, I will not accept either of those scumbags as my president. Where do you suppose that leaves the country?

That’s right boys and girls, civil war.

  • Professor Hale

Big talk from a guy who DID accept 8 years of Obama. Or did I miss that armed revolution you waged? You will accept it, just like you always have.

Last time I looked, progtard, it took more than one to wage a civil war. That you are too cowardly or too much of an enemy collaborator to join in and do what needs to be done is hardly my fault.

You have no idea what I have done to oppose this enemy. Most people could fill an encyclopedia set with what they don’t know. Obviously, you could fill a library.
