Miss USA Won’t Drink the Kool-Aid on Socialist Healthcare

Hats off to Miss D.C. Kara McCullough. Not only has she been crowned Miss USA, but unlike some politicians she understands that healthcare is a privilege, not a right:

The assertion that you have a right to force other people to provide you with goods and services is patently tyrannical and makes a mockery of the concept of rights. Yet socialists have dominated the media and education for so long that few seem able to grasp this. Fewer still would come down unapologetically on the side of liberty in a forum where everyone expects either moonbattery or noncommittal pabulum.

As might be expected, liberal heads are exploding. But she got some encouraging support from a rival:

On a tip from Torcer. Hat tip: Right Scoop.

    Memo to Kara:

My dear, obviously you are in possession of more testicular fortitude, to answer that socialist “set-up question” in the way you did, than all of the repub pols in D.C. combined.
God bless ya’ darlin’! Beauty WITH brains in the Miss America contest for once!

  • Jack Bauer

    sorry….meant to say Miss U.S.A….not Miss America!….lol

  • Watchman59

OT, Why does this site carry advertisements that ask us to support Planned Infanticide? Do adds come in a package or something?

  • Congratulations to Miss USA, but hope she gets to keep the crown, not to mention her DC crown as well. Remember what happened to Carrie Prejean?

  • Dan Northrup

Ok, so healthcare is not a right, told that to the guy bleeding on the floor. Now what? We will end up with a single payer system because greed is preventing a decent private healthcare system that people can afford.

  • Mr. Freemarket

Adds generally respond to your search history. I have yet to see an add here from PP.

  • Mr. Freemarket

Here’s the deal….if you think that you want to start a decent private healthcare system, then why not do it? What would stop you?

  • Watchman59

That’s weird, because that is one thing I’ve never looked up!

The best part of seeing Obamcare repealed is knowing how many white rural conservatives will lose their insurance. Even better is knowing that some of their children will die.

  • Mr. Freemarket

It responds to key words, plus it takes guesses on what you might be interested in. A few months ago I was assaulted with a number of Support Hillary ads. Who knew? Of course if you click on an ad, the sponsor of that ad has to pay for your click. Then again, George Soros has a lot of money to waste.

  • Dan Northrup

If we spent all the money we spend on healthcare on actual healthcare, we would all be a lot better off.

  • Mr. Freemarket

And you are free to do just that. No health care provider that I have met has turned down cash yet.

But most people purchase health care insurance; often their employer will purchase health care insurance on their behalf. Then people only care about their deductible rather than the actual cost of health care. Yet there are, IMHO, much better alternatives.

Example: I am a member of Liberty Health Share, a faith-based group that shares each other medical expenses. My wife and I, both older than 60, pay about $300 per month (plus and annual $125 membership fee). After paying for the first $1000 of health care costs per year, the group shares all covered expenses (they don’t cover prescriptions, abortions, sex change operations, etc.). Because we share each other’s expenses, Liberty Health Share doesn’t accept legal responsibility for paying your bills, nor do they enter into contracts with different health care providers. Yet, from my experience, they do exactly what they say they will do.

They pay health care providers at a rate of 150% (or a bit more) of what Medicare pays for a procedure.

Compared with insurance, they are a lot less expensive and much easier to work with. Yet hospitals, in particular, are difficult to work with because hospitals bill patients for the balance that Liberty Health Share doesn’t cover.

I have no idea why people wouldn’t embrace this alternative to insurance with open arms. Yes, it takes a bit of faith, but, like I said, I’ve been extremely impressed with their efforts.
