Government Funds Study on Using Video Games to Brainwash Teenagers

Big Government and academia are teaming up to introduce us to a brave new world in subliminal mind control via video games:

The National Institutes of Health is spending nearly $400,000 testing how to insert subliminal messages against cigarette smoking in video games played by teens.

The University of Connecticut received a grant for the study earlier this year that suggest teenagers are easier targets for anti-cigarette messaging when they are lost in video games.

According to the researchers,

“This model posits that, as gamers become psychologically immersed (or ‘transported’) into virtual reality, their tendency to resist persuasive messages they encounter in these worlds is disrupted,” the grant states. “The model further posits that such disruption will typically be strongest among individuals who are most likely to resist or reject ‘real-world’ interventions.”

Naturally they start with discouraging teens from smoking, which most people agree is a good idea. From there they can proceed to discouraging teens from thinking racist thoughts. The definition of “racist” has already been expanded to cover most anything leftists would like to eradicate.

In case anyone makes it past prime video-gaming years with any politically incorrect thoughts in their head, the same technology can no doubt be applied to everything we see on TV — assuming it isn’t already.

Here’s a better idea: How about making it legal for 16 year olds to buy vapor products? There are no as yet known health risks and vaping has been proven to keep people off of tobacco.

  • Night Wind

What all these young people stop using tobacco and start smoking marijuana instead. Most Liberal cities are much stricter on tobacco than they are on marijuana. That’s because tobacco is relaxing and clears the mind while marijuana scrambles your brain and causes you to vote Democrat.

    THEY’RE FUN…don’t smoke…AND A GREAT DIVERSION…don’t smoke…FROM DAY TO DAY STRESS…don’t smoke.

  • Ol’ Uncle Lar

Yeah, anti-smoking messages for now until they see if it works, If it does, expect much more troublesome messages later. I’m not a “gamer” so no worries here.

  • Mr. Freemarket

Let me see if I understand the reasoning.

Kids are playing games that consist of shooting others, stealing cars, raping women, causing all sorts of havoc…and the thinking is that none of that is a problem, but through video game content, we can discourage smoking……

    Seriously?
