Brooklyn Hipsters Refuse to Vaccinate Their Dogs, Fear of Autism Blamed

I used to find it alarming that perpetually adolescent hipsters buy dogs instead of having babies, but in light of this story, maybe it’s for the best:

Some Brooklynites are refusing to vaccinate their pets against virulent and potentially deadly illnesses — some of which could spread to humans — thanks to a growing movement against the life-saving inoculations, according to borough veterinarians. …

The increased skepticism towards inoculating pets is likely the result of a national movement that claims vaccines can cause autism in children, according to [Dr. Amy Ford of the Veterinarian Wellness Center of Boerum Hill], who said she has seen an increase in clients unwilling to have their dogs vaccinated in recent years — despite experts’ findings that show no link between the inoculations and the developmental disorder.

Seriously. They refuse to vaccinate their pets against disease because they think their dogs will become autistic.

Hip youngsters who promote a more holistic lifestyle for their pets tend to be the most vocal anti-vaxxers…

Maybe autistic dogs are more common than we think. Maybe autism explains why dogs don’t talk.

Or maybe it’s the trendoids in Brooklyn who should be given shots — of Thorazine.

Diseases against which these kooks refuse to inoculate their dogs include rabies. Now you have another reason to stay out of moonbattery-addled Brooklyn, in case you needed it.

Looks like this dog didn’t get vaccinated.

On tips from J and Varla.

That looks like a Chinese crested. They are nice dogs but the mutation that makes them nearly hairless leads to the dentation problems. The powder puffs have the same disposition, more hair, and don’t look so strange.
Per the article, to own a dog you need to be considerably smarter than the dog. I wonder if these people have that advantage.

  • TheChaoticStorm

Wow, just wow. Rabies in domestic pets has been nearly eradicated in the U.S.. I guess we are going to see resurgences of that, just like we’ve been seeing outbreaks of nearly eradicated human diseases like measles and mumps.

If you won’t properly care for your pet, don’t get one. Not vaxxing your pets (except for medical reasons – my dog is allergic to the lepto shot) should be illegal and the animals confiscated and vaccinated.

  • Tchhht!!!

These, no doubt, are the same sort of mental defects that think it’s cute to take their filthy mutts into a super market wheel it around in a shopping cart.

  • OldSailor

The dog in the bottom photo bears a very strong resemblance to Debbie Wasserman Schultz. I had to look twice to make certain.

This one`s gonna come back and bite them.

  • ICEvictim

[OMG, did he really post that, ha ha ha]

  • ICEvictim

I have to wonder at the mentality that jumps on some junk science without EVER bothering to check for real science refuting it just so they can huff and puff and virtue signal how Kool they are.

    Different hair color.

Some hipster starts a rumor that vaccines cause autism in dogs and like sheep the other cool kids take it as gospel and follow along.
In a few years when their pooches die of preventable canine diseases they’ll blame it on everything but their own stupidity…

  • 127guy

    Same disposition.

  • 127guy

These hipsters are no doubt hoping the dogs are trans also.

  • Mr. Freemarket

Distemper is a terrible condition. Not sure if it is treatable….or if you just have to put her down.

  • TED

So where are those ANIMAL RIGHTS people in this case?!! Crickets…their agenda is exposed.

  • TED

    The DOG is better looking!

Beyond the vaccinations at puppyhood, and veterinarian visits for illness – I avoided taking my dogs to the vet. A bad distemper vaccination killed by keeshond. I have friends that worked for veterinarians for years who have told me that most of the treatments do not have any effect of the longevity of dogs nor improve their health.

Dogs get a rather specific lifespan. 13 years was what I got from my longest lived Doberman Pinscher – the few times he was sick with kennel cough and an infection he was taken to the veterinarian and treated. He was never denied. But when the end was coming at 13 and knowing that it was likely cancer, he was kept comfortable and fed until he no longer could be kept comfortable and then euthanized.

I have had dogs for 32 years, I know when there is something wrong that I couldn’t treat – that was when I took them for veterinary care. I gave stitches and anti-biotics when they fought realizing it was more traumatic for them having a veterinarian to stitch them that it would be for me to do it. Simple wounds that were not out of my ability to treat.

Cancer got all of them in the end. It is a genetic disposition for some breeds.

    That said, hipsters are morons.

  • THOUGHTCRIMINAL2084

The vaccines are longer acting than what the recommended update cycle is. Most indoor dogs who have little contact with other animals are in no danger of picking anything up past the puppy stage.

  • MAS

The lesson here? Hipsters and their kind are to be avoided until they either come to their senses or die of their stupid. Dogs rule btw but children are our only future. Duh…

  • ICEvictim

thus the current term: virtue signalling

  • Mr. Freemarket

    Much kinder, too.

  • Frank

One hopes for a massive outbreak of rabies among the enlightened Brooklynites.

  • Frank

    ROTFLMAO!

  • Frank

Please refrain from comparing that noble dog to a far inferior life form!

  • Frank

Our Bichon began to have really scary seizures about a month after his yearly round of shots. Out vet was stumped. We took the dog to a holistic vet who diagnosed the problem as vaccinosis, a reaction to his system being overwhelmed with vaccines. She suggested only getting his legally required rabies shot from then on. We followed her advice. He never had another seizure, no was he ever sick.

Once again, left/libtard brilliance on the subject comes to the fore…

Yup, it’s Leftism. Period. Everything/everyone else is just useful. toward that.

That is cruel. Just because the masters are total jerks does NOT mean that their poor canine companions should suffer. NOW SOMETHING THAT WOULD AFFLICT THE MASTERS….
