Not even NASCAR is a safe haven from moonbattery anymore. A General Lee ’69 Dodge Charger was scheduled to do a parade lap before the Sprint Cup Series here in Phoenix on Sunday. But the suits nixed it, because they don’t like the Confederate flag on the roof.
Squeaks NASCAR spokesweenie David Higdon:
“The image of the Confederate flag is not something that should play an official role in our sport as we continue to reach out to new fans and make NASCAR more inclusive.”
The word inclusive means that anything liberals don’t like will be rigorously excluded — for example, anything that reminds them of the South.
Ben Jones, a former Dukes of Hazzard cast member as well as a former Congressman for Georgia, responds:
“At a time when tens of millions of Americans are honoring their Union and Confederate ancestors during this sesquicentennial of the Civil War, NASCAR has chosen to dishonor those Southerners who fought and died in that terrible conflict by caving to political correctness and the uninformed concerns of corporate sponsors. This action by NASCAR is a provocative and unnecessary over-reaction to a problem that doesn’t exist. It is a disgraceful and gratuitous insult to a lot of very decent people. It is prejudicial toward those good-hearted folks who, like Uncle Jesse Duke, are in fact ‘never meanin’ no harm.’”
In contrast, the janissaries of political correctness do mean harm. Anything distinctively Southern must be eradicated from popular culture. Call it cultural cleansing, to go with the ethnic cleansing on display when the federal government prevents immigration law from being enforced, resulting in the displacement of Caucasians from the Southwest.
NASCAR driver Danica Patrick isn’t particularly concerned about the Obama administration’s dictate that religious employers provide health care plans that cover contraceptives.
“I leave it up to the government to make good decisions for Americans.”
Good girl. Comrade Obama owes you a pat on the head for expressing the correct attitude. Oligarchical collectivism doesn’t work smoothly unless everyone realizes that the parasitical petty tyrants in Washington should make our decisions for us.
Patrick is allegedly Catholic.
