Texas State University Is Recruiting Math Education Professors Who Specialize in Moonbattery

Students might think they can escape the suffocating moonbattery that characterizes college campuses by majoring in math. Sorry; even that has been politicized:

Texas State University is hoping to hire two Math Education professors with a demonstrated and longstanding commitment to “social justice.”

According to the job postings on Inside Higher Ed, the two new professors must not only share TSU’s commitment to “education equity” and “social justice,” but should preferably also have a demonstrated record of engagement or academic research on the issue.

These are the qualifications required of a math education professor nowadays:

“We are especially interested in applicants whose scholarly interests and work include attention to the concerns of race, ethnicity, multilingualism, immigrant, social class, gender, and diversity, broadly defined,” the advertisement notes, adding that professors “from historically underrepresented groups are strongly encouraged to apply.”

It would be Eurocentric to insist that 2 + 2 = 4. In liberal utopia, 2 + 2 = whatever enhances the self-esteem of the allegedly oppressed.

There’s not a single college campus worth saving. Not one.

  • Mr. Freemarket

Let’s remember that this is Texas we are talking about. Supposedly one of the last bastions of freedom and liberty.

It would be understandable if this were New York, Illinois, California, or Massachusetts. But Texas!?!?!

This university is located in Texas’ Moonbat Corridor that stretches from Austin to San Antonio along Interstate 35.

Not that math is safe, but they don’t look like they are hiring math profs. They are hiring math education profs. There’s an important difference.

  • Mr. Freemarket

Liberalism is like a spreading virus.

  • FromNJ

In other words – NO WHITE DUDES.

Most institutions of higher learning are becoming ChiCom-style “reeducation centers” rather than places where diverse ideas are taught and discussed. Mongrelization and mediocrity are destroying universities like they are the rest of American institutions. Wasting work time on “attention to the concerns of race, ethnicity, multilingualism,
immigrant, social class, gender, and diversity, broadly defined,” used to get one classified as an unproductive rabble rouser. Giving special preference to candidates “from historically underrepresented groups” Is clearly discriminatory and practically guarantees that successful applicants will be less qualified than those who would be available from an open pool. Sic transit America.

    AIDS cures liberalism.

There’s not a single government run/influenced school worth attending that’s for sure. There are alternatives though…

it was inevitable when colleges started offering BS courses and majors in the Liberal Art department. STEM profs were always outnumbered but not by a large margin and so were able to keep college (mostly) sane.

Now the LA department is massive compared to the STEM campus (“science is hard” they moan). That means they wind up controlling the management team that evolves and pretty soon you’ve got massive stupid reigning.

I was about to put that up. GMTA! ha ha

  • SineWaveII

Higher education is increasingly becoming the pig’s windmill from George Orwell’s “Animal Farm”.

  • SineWaveII

And if that weren’t bad enough they recruit the administration from that “short-yellow-bus” side of the campus.

  • SineWaveII

Yeah. They are the people who will teach math to the people who will teach it to grade and high school students who will then become the next generation of math professors. You have to give the proggies credit. They think ahead.

  • Mr. Freemarket

Well….actually no; it doesn’t. I doubt many AIDS patients vote for conservative candidates, even as their lives are on the line. In fact, I’m not sure many see the error of their ways.

(That said…I’m also sure that Harvey Milk voted for Hillary, too).

Those who can, do. Those who can’t, teach. Those who can’t teach teach teachers. Those who can’t teach teachers get to run universities.

  • EugeneAustin

There are plenty of people who flunked out of high school who qualify for the positions.

  • Frank

By “cure” I meant they’re simultaneously removed from the voter pool and traffic on I-5.

  • Mr. Freemarket

While they may be removed from traffic, they will continue to vote democrat. Abe Lincoln voted for Hillary, as did Vince Foster.

  • Tom

Math??? Granted it’s been quite a while since I majored in math; but I have a hard time fitting, say, the fundamental theorem of calculus into any of those requirements…
