Schools Ban Having Best Friends

According to leftist dogma, we are not just equal (i.e., in our rights and basic value as human beings), but equivalent. Each of us is an interchangeable component of the collective. Consequently, the progressives who dominate education are trying to eradicate best friends:

Members of the royal family aren’t often told what they can and can’t do. But just a few days into his first year of school, 4-year-old Prince George already faces a mandate: No best friends allowed.

Thomas’s Battersea, the school George attends, bans kids from having best friends, Marie Claire reports. Instead, teachers encourage all students to form bonds with one another to avoid creating feelings of exclusions among those without best friends.

Egalitarian ideology decrees that if everyone doesn’t have something, no one should have it.

The trend of banning best friends has been growing for several years, and it’s spread beyond European borders to American schools as well.

Some psychologists and parents argue kids become more well-adjusted when they have larger friend groups and can avoid negative feelings associated with feeling left out.

Critics, however, say the approach robs kids of the chance to form valuable coping skills. By grappling with mild social exclusion when they’re young, kids will emerge as more capable, resilient adults, these advocates argue.

Also, having fewer but closer friends in adolescence has been associated with better mental health in adulthood.

But as a 1960s radical might say, the issue is never the issue. The issue is always the revolution. Here the issue is not what is best for kids. The issue is social engineers imposing their will so as to construct utopia, instead of just letting people develop naturally.

On a tip from Steve2.

“Egalitarian ideology decrees that if everyone doesn’t have something, no one should have it.”

everything in their world is based on jealousy. Everything.

there is NOTHING these people won’t ruin.

No favorite color, song, food etc., that is exclusionary too.

Formerly-great Britain is tottering on its last legs.

Life imitates art… progressives ride again!

Gonna need a lot more “safe spaces” in the future…

  • MAS

Don’t y’all know the state will be your best friend? Or else…

There are few men that rise to the intellectual level Milton did. I miss his clarity and consistency…

Of course, the next logical step when a child still has no friends is for the teacher to assign him some friends because there’s nothing better than a friend who doesn’t want to be your friend. I suppose the schools could offer free lunches to assigned friends to give kids the incentive to be a friend.

    Just shoot me now.

Boyhood pals, good comrades in Viet-Nam, workmates, kindred souls in university, the great friendships I see among my students, and now, in old age, the Saturday Morning Coffee Commandos. Good friends are one of life’s blessings. I trust Kate and Wills to remove their son from this School of Comrades.

My best friend, someone I’d met when I was 21, and knew for 30 years, killed himself in 2011. Nobody will ever take his place. Some holes in the heart can’t be mended.

  • Mr. Freemarket

Ridding oneself of best friends is followed by ridding oneself of the desire to commit one’s life to another as a spouse. Meaningless hookups can replace the family and the foundation it provides for the next generation.

All part of the progressive plan.

You can’t make people like each other and you really can’t ban friends. Not all people are like able and I avoid people I don’t like. This is just plain idiotic !

  • Otis Donkey

I’m sorry to hear that. That’s terrible.
The pain and anguish that one who takes his/her own life, leaves behind.

  • oldguy

These teachers would never try this in a classroom of mostly black kids. Maybe the white kids could learn something from their black counterparts and beat the crap out of these teachers.

  • Jodie

So, no best friends, but “fisting” is still encouraged, right? (As in that which was pushed by Obama’s Safe School Czar Kevin Jennings.)

  • Eddie_Valiant

Of course it’s idiotic – look who’s making the rules!

  • Eddie_Valiant

Don’t leave Paul Krugman out – he may be the top mah-roon!

  • MAS

Makes it much easier to turn the majority of our children to the state when the family is destroyed. The common denominator? Government schools (and more than a few private ones)…

Such a philosophy overlooks the fact that some children are not worthy of being liked or respected or being a friend.

How on earth do you enforce this nonsense? How do you make sure that every pupil has a larger friend group? Perhaps the playground Gestapo will see to this.
And as for avoiding creating feelings of exclusions among those without something, I suppose you ought to ban all pupils from having a mobile phone in case one pupil doesn’t have one. Or banning all pupils from having a title like Prince in case any other pupils don’t have one.

It Takes A Village To Raise A Child. Totalitarian translation: It Takes A Village To Take A Child. Guy McClung, Texas

    “Precious Child”

    If we wants the child,
    The precious,
Get it from mommy and daddy,
    How can we does it?

    We hides us,
    We sneaks around,
    Near the ground,
    And we calls us, “Village”.

We means “steal,” but we says “raise”.
“Village” is good, “raise” is good.
Takes a village to raise a child!
We gets the precious child !

    The child loves us, Village,
    And hates mommy
    Hates daddy.
We gets the child to dead them all.

Dead the mommy and the daddy ,
Dead the aunties and the uncles.
Dead the brothers and the sisters, and
    Grandma and Granddad, dead.

All done dead, the family – dead.
    Us Village alive.
    The precious, the child,
