Maxine Waters Proclaims that Housing Is “a Necessary Human Right”

The last time Democrats had firm control of the federal government, we heard a lot about how medical care is a human right. They followed up the rhetoric with the disastrous ObamaCare power grab. What’s next? Maxine Waters offers a clue by proclaiming that housing is “a necessary human right”:

If housing is “a necessary human right,” that means that you have a right to force other people to provide you with housing, if necessary on a slave basis. That’s what Big Government under the control of socialists like Maxine Waters is for.

Conflating rights with needs is an attack on the very essence of rights. You have a right to your own property, which includes your own labor. In a free society, that allows you to meet your needs by trading for healthcare services, housing, et cetera.

In a society that regards housing as a right, you have no property; you are property — the government’s.

Also alarming is her statement that “Housing is the foundation on which our entire society is built.” Sonja Bochow begs to differ:

The FAMILY is the foundation on which our entire society is built, not housing. As the family unit goes, so goes the nation. If it’s healthy, our nation is healthy. If it isn’t, we are in trouble. And if Waters wants to truly help those who need it, she can start promoting marriage instead of irresponsible sex leading to far too many out of wedlock births to single parents, and she can start promoting intact families instead of crazy broken up homes with kids having no dad.

That would entail serious welfare reform. I doubt Mad Maxine is on board.

Waters might be right about housing being the foundation of society, if society were a housing project. Transforming America into a giant housing project appears to be Democrats’ ambition.

Isn’t that why HUD was created? How successful was that?

Free Stuff is a “human right” next– why we need Leftist tyranny to provide it, of course.

Housing is a right, health care is a right, education is a right, the internet is a right, basic income is a right…

Do these people want to work for anything?

Better yet, why did the Social Security Administration need to buy 174,000 hollow point rounds under the Obama administration?

The supreme court ruled several years ago that we DO NOT have a right to our own property. It can be seized and given to someone else. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kelo_v._City_of_New_London https://en.wikipedia.org

Kelo v. City of New London, 545 U.S. 469 (2005)[1] was a case decided by the Supreme Court of the United States involving the use of eminent domain
to transfer land from one private owner to another private owner to
further economic development. In a 5–4 decision, the Court held that the
general benefits a community enjoyed from economic growth qualified
private redevelopment plans as a permissible “public use” under the Takings Clause of the Fifth Amendment.

The case arose in the context of condemnation by the city of New London, Connecticut, of privately owned real property, so that it could be used as part of a “comprehensive redevelopment plan.” However, the private developer was unable to obtain financing and abandoned the redevelopment project, leaving the land as an undeveloped empty lot.

Well, what we do is…use the Soviet revolutionary housing model. Seize the mansions of The Proletariat, shoot the owners, and house two or three families in each room. Burn the furniture to keep warm.

    Problem solved. Happy to help.

LMAO. As I read that I was thinking how it would sound if Boris and Natasha were talking to Rocky and Bullwinkle.

  • Richard Daniels

Sadly the idea ,that we are a free people, has been largely ignored or forgotten. The concept rarely gets a mention in most political or social debates.
Instead we are inundated with socialist slogans about our debts to the community at large as if you as a person have no identity outside of your “community”.

Wow, Maxine takes a break from Trump bashing!

For crazy Maxine, “housing” means a $4.5M mansion paid for by a career of influence-peddling and graft.

Public housing is the most cancerous of all welfare programs. Infantilizes people and destroys neighborhoods for the long term.

On related note, we walked to the Halloween parade last night. Got there early to get a good spot. As usual, some moms&kids from the projects showed up late and proceeded to stand in the street in front of everyone who came early and stood on the curb where we supposed to. Cops kept telling them to move back, They ignored them. 6, 7 year old kids were asking why these moms weren’t listening to the cops. Of course the so-called “men” who fathered these kids were even worse in that they were entirely absent.

And the whole thing was about getting free candy. It’s all they cared about. No notice whatsoever about anything going on in the parade. It was basically a cargo cult.

Seriously, about that time SSA bought hollowpoints, I ran across another newly-arming gov’t agency seeking AR-15s (by Colt, in cheaper .223 Rem, Class III) with existing gov’t M-16 ammo/supplies for maximized cost-effectiveness. Proposal’s author was quite earnest (but, like most Democrat-lovin’ public union civilian bureaucrats, didn’t know .223 Rem can’t safely shoot 5.56mm NATO) so it was hilarious to read how lower maintenance and ammo costs would rack up big savings that’d more than pay for the buy, etc.

  • ICEvictim

I stick to .308 so I didn’t follow the .223 issues, but I did accidentally run across an article on the different chamber pressures. You would think they’d have done a .223 and a .223 ‘special’ like in pistols to keep someone from blowing up their weapon.

  • ICEvictim

I hear ya buddy. Between rifle and pistol and engine noise in the cockpit, power tools, etc. I’ve got noticeable hearing loss too. I wear ‘ears’ now whenever it gets noisy like using a grinder or chop saw.

It seems that whenever this woman speaks I am reminded of two Einstein quotes:

“The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has limits.”

“Only two things are infinite the universe and human stupidity and I’m not sure about the universe.”

  • Anonymous

Or asked a “bitter clinger” who owned an evil “assault weapon” and could tell ’em the 5.56mm NATO chambering is slightly longer… but it’s SOOOO liberally unfashionable to actually know someone like that, you know. http://www.ar15fornoobs.com/wp-content/uploads/556vs223.jpg
