WaPo Celebrates Pawternity Leave

Follow political correctness to its logical conclusion, and the capacity to distinguish between humans and animals will be lost. Some have already reached this extreme of end-stage moonbattery:

“We offer maternity and paternity leave, and a pet is another member of the family,” the head of talent acquisition at a data services firm told the Wall Street Journal last month. “We don’t discriminate just because they aren’t human.”

After all, the human race is just another species of animal, from the liberal point of view. All animals are equal, but humans are less equal, because we cause global warming and exploit other animals.

Maternity/paternity leave for pet owners (I mean, guardians of animal companions) has become a trend:

An article in Quartz last week reported on its growing popularity, with some companies offering up to a week of paid time off for new pet owners.

More and more of these firms – particularly in urban areas that attract a younger workforce – are also allowing pets to be brought to be work as well as other perks like pet insurance, time-off for veterinary appointments, pet adoption consulting and even – as I reported previously – pet bereavement leave. “We look at it just as if you had a sick kid,” one business owner in the Journal piece said.

Sure, no difference at all. Only a bigoted humancentric speciesist would disagree.

Soon the delusion that four-legged surrogate children are the same as babies will be so widely accepted that we will stop having kids altogether, since puppies are less trouble and expense. To keep the Social Security Ponzi scheme limping along, we can just import the next generation from the Third World. If dogs are the same as people, then certainly Third Worlders are the same as Americans.

Sorry Dave, much as I agree with you most of the time, this time I respectfully disagree. My pets are part of my family.

And frankly, I have a higher regard for my pets – and most animals – than I do for human moonbats, for whom I have nearly no regard at all.

What a dumb ass.And for the record, Im sure I like my dog more than you.

  • Sandy Reardon

Moonbats would never abort a puppy by the way

Goldfish. I predict a dramatic rise in the sale of goldfish and aquarium equipment. And hamsters, gerbils and rabbits. Especially rabbits. Their breeding habits will keep you on leave indefinitely.

Beyonce’s Veganism Promotes ‘Discrimination and Inequality’

    A juicy tidbit:

Fegitz and Pirani set out to differentiate traditional approaches to
veganism from Beyonce’s brand of pop veganism, which they argue
“commodifies” the vegan lifestyle. “In this context, the endorsement of
veganism is radically different from the ethical and political stance of
eco-feminism or black veganism, becoming commodified as just another
lifestyle choice,” they attempt to explain.

My cat is cool! Did I tell you about the time he made a swastika with his tail in front of Sarah Silverman? He’s the best! When he kicks off, I’ll be lost.

  • Since there is no such thing as a soul in leftistland, all animals are equal. Killing an infant in the womb is no different than killing a fly. Although PETA did complain about Obama killing a fly during one of his stirring speeches, they have yet to complain about the dismemberment deaths of millions of infant humans.

  • I think you are wrong there. The ASPCA gasses dogs and cats by the millions, right after they put their sad, pitiful faces on TV to beg for donations.

Next up on the progressive agenda: Making it legal for pets to vote Democrat.

Don’t laugh; 30 years ago you all thought the idea of illegal immigrants voting Democrat was preposterous, now it’s common knowledge.

I love my pets, too (though of course I don’t love them as much as I love my actual kids). However, the picture in my head while reading the article was the urban hipster couple having four cats and no children, having been convinced that they need to stop reproducing because humans are evil. All the while working hard to support the large number of children born to welfare moms. In terms of the grand game of passing on the genes: Suckers.

OH MY GOD, I thought this was a joke – it’s not. A few of them are no longer in office, but they were all in power in 2014 – the death of the West personified.

The moonbats I was referring to would only support a no kill shelter

the problem isn’t the patheticness of people who have pets in replacement of offspring and need time off work to care for them as if there’s some kind of correlation (good way to make your pet have seperation anxiety when you DO leave), the problem is when GOVT mandates that private businesses GIVE PAID TIME OFF for care for pets.

  • BiffWellington

    Has anyone seen my gerbil?

  • Occam’s Stubble

So if you spay or neuter your pet, you’ll be costing yourself some much needed time off from work?

  • TheChaoticStorm

The only one I agree with is being able to use sick time to take a sick/injured pet to the vet. Not providing necessary vet care to a suffering pet is animal cruelty and you can be prosecuted. However, you should have to show proof of said vet visit. If you can’t stay home to care for your ailing pet, most vets can board them until the care process has ended.

Losing a pet is sad but it should not entail taking time off work. There are no funerals to plan/attend or family to coordinate, which is largely the point of bereavement leave.

  • Uncle_Pinko

It’s not surprising, really. Dave spends most of time being angry about things. It only makes sense that such a warped and frustrated person would be unable to recognize love and the good that it brings.

  • Sentry

Some people actually get pretty upset when that happens though. There’s not much point in going to work if you’re sobbing through the entire shift. And no, animals are not equal to people, but losing a pet is a COMPLETELY excusable occasion for extending sobbing.
