Bill Introduced to Allow Obama to Stay in Office for Life

After FDR discovered that he could ensure his own perpetual reelection by impoverishing the population and making it dependent on his largesse, only his death could end the Great Depression. Consequently, the 22nd Amendment was passed, to prevent a future FDR from reducing the country to a socialist dictatorship. It limits the president to 10 years in office. To become a dictator, Obama needs two things: to disarm the population, and to repeal the 22nd Amendment. Dianne Feinstein is working on the first; congresscritter Jose Serrano (D-NY) is covering the second:

He should have waited to see how taking our guns works out.

Making Hope & Change permanent.

On tips Glorious Socialist Utopia, Comrade Kulak, Bob Roberts, Derreka, and Bo-Jangles.

Me thinks he shouldn’t try it.

  2. snuss says:

I’d rather see a bill limiting Senators to two terms, and Representatives to three terms. That would do more to save this Country than anything else, IMHO

    When’s the revolution start?

Looks like election fraud is going to continue as long as the monkeys are running the zoo.

    This is a joke, right?

Greetings to all the MBT regulars from from new digs in Deep-Backwoods, Montana!

  6. Jeff says:

There is no reason to repeal the 22nd Amendent. I agree with snuss regarding term limits for Senators and Representatives, but would go one step further: NO life time benifits, just a one time lump sum payment of half of a years wage to start over in the private sector.

  7. mr_bad_example says:

i’ve got a lot of guns, and a few “clunkers” to surrender if gun grabbing happens, plenty of 15-50 round magazines for the remainders. powder’s dry, locked and loaded.

  8. Dr. 9 says:

Someone should see if Serrano is in the country legally.

I wonder what the average American would say if you told them that a significant part of “their” govt. is controlled by communists? I’m sure they would be horrified. But, if you told them the same thing, but changed “communist” to “progressive”, i’m betting they wouldn’t mind at all. That’s why so many ultra-left, anti-America groups always use such patriotic-sounding names, like, The Center For American Progress, the ACLU, etc., the first a powerful group that has more communists than you’ll find in Moscow, and the second actually founded by communists.

Only in a nation of weak, gullible, sheep could these things happen, and be tolerated.

  9. Ghost of FA Hayek says:

From deep within the bowel movement called the left, gurgles support.

As we have IMHO the singular best president we are ever going to get from this day forward, and with people living longer, and all that.

While it is on the state level- we should do
Like Jerry Brown did as Governor, both the youngest and oldest, and the best governor of California ever.

  10. Starving Writer says:

Rep Serrano has done this every year since 1997 (so, under Clinton, Bush, and Obama). In other words … this is nothing new, you’re just noticing this for the first time.

  11. displaced Louisianaian says:

I don’t think one needs to worry about this one anytime soon. It ain’t gonna pass. There will always be at least 13 states who refuse to ratify the repeal ammendment.

What I would be more worried about is a rogue Supreme Court declaring the 22nd ammendment unconstitional. (That opens up all kinds of cans of worms when parts of the constitution are declared to be unconstituional.)

  12. Starving Writer says:

    2009 HJR 5:

    2011 HJR 17:

He’s done this in 1997 (Clinton), 1999 (Clinton), 2001 (Bush), 2003 (Bush), 2005 (Bush), and 2007 (Bush) as well. So this isn’t merely a “Let’s get Obama a third term!” deal. He’s been remarkably consistent, even through different presidencies.

  13. Skyfall says:

Dr. 9, hate to disagree, but I don’t think the 52% would care one little bit if “communists” were in office.

Obama did what he did…in full view…for four years, and he got a majority of the vote. That pretty much says it all.

  14. Skyfall says:

…and as for Obama, the Constitution hasn’t been much of an impediment for him so far. I don’t think the 22nd amendment will slow him down if he declares himself “World President For Life”. A quick executive order will take care of that.

    I’m not being facetious either.

  15. Tatersalad says:

Who am I? Can you guess who this person is before the end of the video?

  16. B Hussien Da Da, President for Life says:

I shall just issue a signing statement when I pass the next tax increase and it’s done……………..

  17. Ghost of FA Hayek says:

I say give it to him
The batting averages for “presidentes for life” has not been too stellar anyway

Toussaint Louverture of Saint-Domingue was proclaimed Governor for Life by the 1801 Constitution – arrested and exiled to metropolitan France 1802, died 1803.
Henri Christophe of northern Haiti (1807) – became King 1811, committed suicide in office 1820.
Alexandre Pétion of southern Haiti (1816) – died in office 1818.
José Gaspar Rodríguez de Francia of Paraguay (1816) – died in office 1840.
Jean-Pierre Boyer of Haiti (1818) – became President for Life immediately upon assuming the office because Alexandre Pétion’s constitution provided for a life presidency for all his successors. Boyer was overthrown in a revolution in 1843 and died in 1850.
Rafael Carrera of Guatemala (1854) – died in office 1865.
Yuan Shikai of China (1915) – became Emperor, rescinded throne, died in office 1916.
Sukarno of Indonesia (1963) – deposed stripped of all honours and power 1967, died under house arrest in 1970.
Kwame Nkrumah of Ghana (1964) – deposed 1966, died 1972.
François “Papa Doc” Duvalier of Haiti (1964) – died in office 1971, named his son as his successor (see below).
Jean-Claude “Baby Doc” Duvalier of Haiti (1971) – named by his father as successor (see above), deposed 1986, alive.
Hastings Banda of Malawi (1971) – stripped of title 1993, defeated in 1994 general election, died 1997.
Jean-Bédel Bokassa of the Central African Republic (1972) – became Emperor 1976, deposed 1979, died 1996.
Francisco Macías Nguema of Equatorial Guinea (1972) – deposed and executed 1979.
Josip Broz Tito of Yugoslavia (1974) – died in office 1980.
Habib Bourguiba of Tunisia (1975) – deposed 1987, died 2000.
Idi Amin of Uganda (1976) – defeated in war 1979, died 2003.
Lennox Sebe of Ciskei (1983) – deposed 1990, died 1994.
Saparmurat Niyazov of Turkmenistan (1999) – died in office 2006.

No No No! ! They all lasted tooo long.

  19. Tchhht!!! says:

Well, if the legislative and judiciary were up to protecting their turf, but then who knows with all the traitors, crooks, and rinos in congress it wouldn’t surprise me.

  20. TexasDoc says:

Did Serrano offer up that amendment with only one hand?

  21. Skyfall says:

Good point, but at this moment in history, Obama is unique. He has the fanatical support of at least 2 generations raised on leftist utopian ideology. All those male-hating soccer moms, blacks, majority of Hispanics, homosexuals, leftists of all stripes, Muslims…he’s got ’em all. Throw in a “press” that will not say one negative word about him and an election that proved he could ream the U.S. and we’d say “Thank you sir, may I have another” and I would say he’s got a better than average chance of being a VERY long-lasting dictator.

(I’m not even figuring in his almost supernatural power over people’s thinking…and for my money, you can remove “almost”. There is more to come.)

  22. Skyfall says:

(I meant to say “good point Ghost”.)

  23. dan says:

Skyfall…I’m a bit more optimistic (….knock off the laughter, you who know me) I figure that only half the population bothered to turn off their video games and American Idol long enough to vote….and he only pulled
26% (half of those who voted) disregarding the 105%
that he pulled in certain critical districts thanks to voter fraud

  24. mojo says:

Ok, the “Hero of the Soviet Union” and the rest I can stand, but DON’T put a CMH on that putz.

  25. F.D.R. in Hell says:

All three of my Chiefs of Staff (Marshal, Leahy, and McArthur) suggested we -not- use the expression “President for life” 👿

  26. Eleanor. in Hell says:

Franklin, they were right. You were.

  27. Skyfall says:

dan, my pessimism comes from the fact that after ALL THE CRAP FROM THE LAST FOUR YEARS, there wasn’t a groundswell against this guy.

What do people need for motivation? Now he’s got the Supreme Court (min. 2 new judges), he’s got a free hand with exec orders, he’s got the Senate, he’s got the press, he’s got the schools, he’s got the taxes, he’s got EVERY THING HE WANTS.

I’d say “we will rise up”, but again…if 2008-12 didn’t get people in the streets with torches and pitchforks, I don’t know if anything will.

  28. F.D.R. in Hell says:

    @ Skyfall

I think the boy wants people to rise up.
The perfect excuse for weapon confiscation and FEMA camp round-ups.

Careful, America. Do this right. 👿

  29. Alan says:

“I’d rather see a bill limiting Senators to two terms, and Representatives to three terms.”

I second this motion, and raise you: members of Congress shall only receive salaries in years that the budget balances. Oh, you have an EMERGENCY spending bill and WE CAN’T WAIT? Suit yourself.

  30. Alan says:

    Math time, Ghost.

    Toussaint Louverture – 1 year.
    Henri Christophe – 13 years.
    Alexandre Pétion – 2 years.
José Gaspar Rodríguez de Francia – 24 years.
    Jean-Pierre Boyer – 25 years
    Rafael Carrera – 11 years
    Yuan Shikai – 1 year
    Sukarno – 4 years
    Kwame Nkrumah – 2 years
    François Duvalier – 7 years
    Jean-Claude Duvalier – 15 years
    Hastings Banda – 18 years
    Jean-Bédel Bokassa – 7 years
Francisco Macías Nguema – 5 years
Josip Broz Tito – 6 years
    Habib Bourguiba – 12 years
    Idi Amin – 3 years
    Lennox Sebe – 7 years
    Saparmurat Niyazov – 7 years

I get a mean of 8.9 and of median 7.

Obama has been in office four years already, and is only 51. He would have no trouble beating Jean-Pierre Boyer.

  31. Hill says:

Yeah, and Roosevelts son who bore his name, also felt entitled to the office of the president, just because his Daddy held the position (for too long).

Spent his life chasing the dream and never obtaining the presidency made him bitter.

  32. Lucy Mercer says:

If you remove the basket case of Haiti where they welcome tyranny as an outlier, one could knock about a year from those numbers.
Other factors would likely include whether the “announcement” was made under times of turmoil or after sweeping an election where the opponent (accidentally) stepped in front of a lethal dose of lead
One could also include sham elections where voting for the opposition can be hazardous to your health (PRK Chavez), where no vote is held (EU troika)or where turnouts in “strongholds” exceed 100 percent (sound familiar) ?
Or where they keep recounting until the proper votes are “found” by lawyers (Franken MN)
Or royalty (99 percent of Demmohroid strongholds)
    The Clintons ect
The gods of media and acedemia
Come to think of it, what would really change ?

  33. Tim says:

Not sure our meak and pansy Fuhrer wants this because kings have a tendency to lose their heads

  34. Louie says:

Love the photo; it captures the inner obama quite well. . . .

  35. Winston Smith says:

Obama likely welcomes leaving office since Ex President rake in millions in speaking fees. The Clintons are worth well over $100 million now. Presidential salary is just $800,000 – peanuts or bananas in his case.

  36. horowitz says:

I suggest that all you moonbats research the Project For A New American Century. A group founded in the 90’s by William Kristol and Robert Kagan with a lenghy list of neocon supporters. Cheney, Krauthammer, Rumsfeld etc. All your heroes. It was they who wanted to repeal the term limit amendment and annoint GW Bush El Jeffe Grande. It wasn’t FDR. As for mr_bad_example, it’s not only neocons who own weapons.

  37. No news that- says:

Despots who elect themselves for life usually have a painfully short one. Doubt it? Look up Benito Mussolini.

  38. Wizard45 says:

Ten bucks says this doesn’t make it out of committee… again.

  39. Wizard45 says:

Oh yeah, and what mojo said about the CMH!

  40. Claudius says:

Some Republican moron introduced a similar bill during Reagan’s second term. This isn’t Democratic or Liberal stupidity, its politicians-in-general stupidity.

  41. 762x51 says:

Seeing the CMH on him makes me retch but the smiley face is a nice touch. It symbolizes the blissful ignorance of his supporters.
