Colorado’s Opportunistic Gun Bills Will Drive Out Jobs

In Colorado, the price of liberal authoritarians using Newtown as a pretext to crush gun rights will cost not only women their safety but workers their jobs:

Colorado’s largest and most profitable manufacturer of high-capacity ammunition magazines has vowed to leave the state if lawmakers pass a measure banning the devices…

“If we’re able to stay in Colorado and manufacture a product, but law-abiding citizens of the state were unable to purchase the product, customers around the state and the nation would boycott us for remaining here,” said Doug Smith, Magpul’s chief operating officer.

Elections have consequences. The consequences to Colorado of electing a Democrat majority will include losing this:

Established in Colorado in 1999, Magpul says it employs more than 200 people at its manufacturing and shipping headquarters, while there are another 400 employees of subcontractors that work with the company throughout the state.

In addition to a wide array of gun-magazine products, the privately-held Magpul makes many other products, including cases for mobile phones and tactical sights for firearms. This year, the company says it expects to spend upward of $85 million in Colorado alone on employee payroll, manufacturing subcontractors, suppliers and service providers.

Flaunting the same contempt for the welfare of their constituents that they do for the Constitution, power-grabbing Democrats have pushed their collection of anti-gun measures through the House. It next goes to the Senate, where Dems have a 20–15 advantage and need 18 votes for passage.

Among other senseless restrictions, the bills would limit magazines to 15 rounds and prevent women from defending themselves with concealed weapons on college campuses.

If this is what Colorado wants for itself, Magpul is wise to leave it behind.

Welcome in the free state of Arizona.

“Atlas Shrugs” was set in Colorado, the [in the book] sanest, most business-friendly state remaining. Looks like Ayn Rand got that part wrong.

But that was written 50+ years ago; she’s still uncomfortably close to today’s reality.

  2. Play says:

Maybe all the libs will leave Texas and move to Colorado where it ‘s “safe”. Then the decent , productive, sensible people of Colorado can follow their jobs to Texas.

Q: How can we instantly wipe out our $2 TRILLION dollar debt to the ChiComs?

A: Tell them the fine for spying on us is, $2 TRILLION dollars!

  4. A. Levy says:

The company should leave Colorado, and leave the people to choke on the elected lying crooks they keep voting for. That’s right. Elections have consequences. For everyone.

Magpul, Utah welcomes you. We have great skiing, outdoor recreation that rivals anything available in Colorado. We tend to be pretty conservative too (except in those areas invaded by Californians).

We also have a number of firearm manufacturers here who happily go about their business of making money.

Go west, young man; go west.

The only stimulus that is working and the democRATS want to run it out of town. Bet on emotions democRATS so you can double down on the losing. Note to Colorado and WA state, I read an article yesterday by Comrade Czar Gerlikowski of the drug war saying they will go after marijuana growers in both states.

  7. St. Gilbert says:

After the Dems in the Senate get, it goes on to the “moderate” Democrat governor, Hickenlooper, who “Thursday indicated for the first time he was supportive of the limit on high capacity gun magazines.” He will most definitely sign all four gun bills, and the once sensible and conservative state of Colorado will have fully surrendered to liberal insanity.

You should know better than to let the enemy determine the vocabulary of the debate. They’re not high capacity. They’re normal capacity.

Time to take a 10:000 volt cattle prod and fry those arrogant colorado jackasses

  10. Gunny G says:

I grew up in Colorado. Not the state I left for the Corps in 79. California libtards fucked it up.

Time for the DEMAC-RATS to go extinct

The time for buying ammo has passed you by if you haven’t been stacking it for the last number of years:

Smith & Wesson-is running at Full capacity making 300+ guns/day-mainly M&P pistols. They are unable to produce any more guns to help with the shortages. RUGER: Plans to increase from 75% to 100% in the next 90 days. FNH: Moving from 50% production to 75% by Feb 1st and 100% by March 1. Remington-Maxed out! Armalite: Maxed out. DPMS: Can’t get enough parts to produce any more product. COLT: Production runs increasing weekly…bottle necked by Bolt carrier’s. LWRC:Making only black guns, running at full capacity…can’t get enough gun quality steel to make barrels. Springfield Armory: Only company who can meet demand but are running 30-45 days behind. AMMO: Every caliber is now Allocated! We are looking at a nation-wide shortage of all calibers over the next 9 months. All plants are producing as much ammo as possible w/ of 1 BILLION rnds produced weekly. Most is military followed by L.E. and civilians are third in line. MAGPUL is behind 1 MILLION mags; do not expect any large quantities of magpul anytime soon. RELOADERS!!!! ALL Remington, Winchester , CCI & Federal primers are going to ammo FIRST. There are no extra’s for reloading purposes….it could be 6-9 months b/f things get caught up. Sorry for the bleak news, but now we know what to expect in the coming months

    @Gunny G, California Libtards….LMAO!

I was wondering where all of them were going just before I got out myself. Only I’m not one of those damn Libtards, I’m a born in the wool Conservative and got out of that cesspool of liberalism years ago….traded it for a Red State with views closer to my own.

They need a flood in Denver to wash away the demacrap

  15. Clingtomyguns says:

CalPERS plays the political correctness game with divesting their holdings in gun dealers, why shouldn’t gun owners divest from them. “CalPERS lost nearly a quarter of its value at the end of the last decade after making several high-risk investments while selling off good ones.”

  16. Son of Taz says:

@wingman, what’s the source for your post? I’d like to spread it around, but would like to see the original.

  17. Clingtomyguns says:

Why do they need gun manufacturers, or jobs for that matter in Colorado?, since they legalized pot they can just sit around all day and get stoned. Let their businesses move to welcoming conservative states and let the Coloradoan’s who elected Democraps stew in their self-created cesspool. We’ll recolonize it after the coming civil war.

  18. daisy says:

I agree with them leaving to a more business friendly state that will give them open arms and means business. I hope all the good law abiding businessess leave colorado and make them suffer. Those libtards needs to know who is in business and in charge. God bless those law abiding citizens who really stand for their grounds.
