Congressman Backs Banning National Anthem

The campaign to escalate from disrespecting the national anthem at NFL games to banning it altogether is gathering steam:

Illinois Democratic Rep. Danny Davis says he sees ‘nothing wrong’ with the California ACLU’s effort to ban the Star Spangled Banner as the country’s national anthem.

Rep. Davis explains why:

“Well, you know, one of the things about the Constitution that our forefathers wrote, and basically, there were none of our foremothers that were there. There were none of our fore-sisters there. There are changes that can take place and there is room to change,” he told TheDC Thursday.

People of this caliber did not used to be members of Congress. Not all changes are for the better.

The campaign has been initiated by the slightly more eloquent Alice Huffman, who is President of the California NAACP. She barks that Star-Spangled Banner “doesn’t represent our community. It’s anti-black people.”

According to Black Lives Matter ideology, our whole country is “anti-black people.” Therefore, it must be abolished, piece by piece.

The pretext for banning the anthem is from the rarely sung third verse:

No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave

Francis Scott Key wrote the lyrics back when slavery was legal, which is reason enough to ban anything, from the leftist point of view. Once every aspect of our heritage that dates to before the Civil War — including the Constitution — has been erased, they will set to work on whatever remains.

This cultural genocide is an incremental process, which is why every last statue and Confederate flag is a hill worth dying on.

The sad part is that I wouldn’t put it past California to ban the National Anthem. Of course white progressives would be down with this, anything to appease minorities – you know – to show the world that they’re not racist.

It’s only a matter of time before us patriots get fed up and revolt.. Of course the demand by the NAACP is ludicrous, but it’s only a matter of time before this generation of snowflakes finds themselves in power, and you can bet banning the National Anthem is something this generation would consider……. Dangerous times are ahead of us, and at the rate we’re going civil war will be unavoidable.

Thank God for Trump because had he not won you can bet Hillary would have taken the NAACP’s demand seriously and would have explored the idea.

Oh and the best part is that progressives claim that us patriots aren’t “tolerant” haha…. The simple fact these racist and snowflakes are still around to preach their garbage and breath our air proves just how tolerant we are. If we were the fascists they claim we are, I don’t think the NAACP would be demanding anything – because they wouldn’t exist.

  10. That last paragraph tells the tale. But they won’t understand until it’s too late.

The anthem says “hireling”! Where were our fore-hirelings when the Constitution was written? There were none!!

    Foremothers….what a maroon.

  13. grayjohn says:

Ban the 5th verse then. It wasn’t in the original poem anyway.

  14. geeknerd says:

“Hireling” refers to the Hessian mercenaries hired by the Crown. “Slave” refers to the British hereditary nobility that made up the bulk of the British officer corps.

If you don’t like “The Star Spangled Banner,” I nominate “God Bless America,” in which “God” refers to the Triune God; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

  15. susan says:

Is that first paragraph for real?…cause if it is, that’s a dang good point.

  16. Belfast says:

Not really. “Hireling” was a term for all mercenaries, slave was for those
who were following the oppressors orders . Hireling and slave both figure much in Irish rebel songs. “He’s all a knave and half a slave who slights his country thus” is one line, “look out for hirelings, King George of England Search ev’ry kingdom where breathes a slave, For Father Murphy of the County Wexford Sweeps o’er the land like a mighty wave.”
It was a term that did not mean slave as they think. A bit like a slave to greed, or a slave to drink.

  17. Henry says:

    More like some down low…

  18. geeknerd says:

Belfast, I wasn’t aware of that. Thank you. I thought that if a man was an officer because he was a nobleman, he was forced to obey the orders of his master (in this case, the king) through an accident of birth, just like any other slave.
