Dan Rather, Faux Marine

We thought left-wing propagandist Dan Rather had hit rock bottom when he was forced to walk the plank at CBS News and washed up as a regular guest at MSNBC. But for The Dan, there is always a new low. According to Canada Free Press, now he is falsely passing himself off as having served in the Marines:

The editor-in-chief of the website, retired U.S. Army Major Glenn MacDonald, says he stumbled across a published photo of Rather in a dress blue Marine Corps uniform in his book Rather Outspoken and decided to investigate the claim. The photo caption, “as a young Marine,” clearly indicates Rather had been a member in good standing of the Marine Corps.

But the truth, MacDonald says, is that Rather left the Marines before completing boot camp and the photo was obtained under questionable circumstances.

Evidently the photo was taken for use in a yearbook distributed to Marines who unlike Rather make it through boot camp. How Rather got his hands on the photo remains a mystery.

Ironically, Rather destroyed his career by using crudely forged documents to cast false aspersions on W’s military service in the National Guard.

As phony as his reporting?

On tips from Jack Bauer, rpp618, and Stormfax.

Stop it, Dan, you’re killing me!

Real marines don’t take photos with goofy smiles.

Isn’t there a law against falsely passing yourself off as a military member?

    “Semper mendacium”…..Dan!

A British general in Afghanistan while I was there said it best: “Dan Rather– oh, is he still alive?”

P.S. Got to tell some of the younger folk what “What’s the frequency, Kenneth?!” was about, too. (They were shocked– “Some guy just beat the hell out of Dan Rather for no reason?” Yup, a crazy dude who didn’t like network media people. Nothing personally to do with Dan.)

Did he post naked pictures of Lesley Stahl?

Gunga Dan and President Heelspur can swap war stories, then.

  10. Buffalobob says:

    Fake but accurate.

  11. Jack Bauer says:

I don’t think so Bob, because no doubt that would violate the spirit of the Geneva Conventions against excessively cruel tactics of warfare. Weaponized naked pictures of Lesley Stahl would surely rank right up there with a variety of lethal nerve agents.

I apologize for my evil sense of humor.

What is it with progressives continually doubling down on their own fallacies after being proven wrong over and over again? First Fauxcahontas Lieawatha, then Talcum X, then Ain’t Jemimah, then Brainless Matthews, now even more BS from Gunga Dan? When will the lies end?

  14. 762x51 says:

Didn’t Rather and Brian Williams get the CMH at Hamburger Hill in the A Shau Valley when they were attached to MACV-SOG?

Or was that Pvt. Benjamin and Beetle Bailey?

It really puts this article into perspective:

Huffington Post: Dan Rather Slams Journalists Who Hailed Donald Trump’s Bombs As ‘Presidential’

“The number of members of the press who have lauded the actions last night as ‘presidential’ is concerning,” Rather wrote in a Facebook post on Friday. “War must never be considered a public relations operation. It is not a way for an Administration to gain a narrative. It is a step into a dangerous unknown and its full impact is impossible to predict, especially in the immediate wake of the first strike.”

  18. DM says:

One has to wonder what got Dingy Dan booted out of boot camp?

I don’t know the exact person who quoted it, but that someone once said this: If you want to know what liberals are up to, listen to what they accuse their opponents of doing.

  22. I don’t think Trump ever claimed to serve, unlike Blumenthal, Harkin and Rather.

  23. Christopher B says:

I wish there was. Attempts have been made to create civilian penalties for fraudulently claiming to have been awarded US military decorations since by definition the military has no jurisdiction over claims by a non-service member. I’m not sure the effort has been entirely successful, and I don’t think anybody has even discussed creating penalties for general claims to having served or to falsely claiming specific military experience. The best that could be done is a fraud case if somebody used those claims as part of a scam but in most cases specific monetary damages are minimal to non-existent even if the person is using the claims to enhance their CV.

  24. Sufferfortribe says:

Just did a little research. Is the Stolen Valor Act still enforceable?

He made the same claim on Letterman’s show in the days after 9/11.
