Entitlements Are Not Handouts: They Are Earned

Great news from the unhinged Sheila Jackson Lee. The same congresscritter (D-TX) who revealed that the USA had planted its flag on Mars now informs us that far from staggering on its last legs under the Obama Regime’s wildly excessive public spending and endless barrage of malicious regulation, the economy is doing fine. She also tells us that entitlements are not handouts; “they are earned!”

Libs will screech that in a sense Social Security and Medicare really are earned, in that we are forced to pay into them. However, we are at the point in these collapsing Ponzi schemes where more money is coming out than is going in. Eventually means testing will reduce them to straightforward welfare programs, so that as with other wealth-redistributing entitlements, payments will be “earned” only by voting for socialist looters like Sheila Jackson Lee.

On a tip from Byron.

The only thing “earned” here is the money……. before it was confiscated.

  2. Squonk says:

We pay into as and Medicare. A 7 year old diagnosed with adhd has paid nothing into the system, yet is eligible for SSI. It is the democrat. habit of expanding entitlements that has damaged the system beyond repair. Parents in some instances are denying medication to children in order to enhance their chances of qualifying for more.benefits.

  4. F.D.R. in Hell says:

They are “earned” by filling out the forms.
It was BS in 1933 and it’s still BS in 2013.

THIS is why secession is the only solution. We must distance ourselves from these human dregs before they drag us down.

My husband died in Jan, he paid into SS for 40 years, since I earn too much in my pension I will never collect any of his SS contributions as his widow. My daughter however was able to collect for 6 months until she turned 18 and went to college, if she hadn’t been smart and graduate from HS at 17 she would still collect as a surviving dependent until she was out of HS. The clincher is that when her benefits were cut off I actually received a letter from SS suggesting that I send back any funds that I saved from these benefits and didn’t use to care for my daughter! I really don’t care about receiving a pension from SS, but I do think I should receive the funds that were “donated” by husband over his working career.

No dear, paychecks are earned. Entitlements are things you’re ENTITLED to.

  8. Frank says:

Benefits are things paid for in advance of need such as Medicare and Social Security. Entitlements are those things one collects for paying and doing nothing for them except the simple act of filling in a form and being interviewed.

I would be quite pleased to waive any claim to future government payments if they’d refund to me (plus interest) what I’ve paid the butt-nuggets over the past 50 years.

  9. bobdog says:

If that’s the case, then as a self-employed person, I paid both the employee and the employer contributions to Social Security and Medicare for the past 30 years.

Doesn’t it follow that I should receive double benefits for Social Security and Medicare? I did earn them, didn’t I?

  10. Right Reason says:

But hey, Jackson Lee is well-known in Washington as being a decent person and a good boss. What, the nastiest person in Congress several years running, and the worst boss in Washington (11 chiefs of staff in 11 years, numerous anecdotes about her horrendous behavior towards her staff)?

    Never mind …

  11. Louie says:

When the economy does eventual;ly improve, it will be *in spite of* obama and the libs, not *because* of them. But they will be there to take the credit.

“Entitlements are earned”? While I would agree that those who have paid into (read “invested in”, albeit confiscatorially) a program such as Social Security which carries with it a government promise of future return on that investment are due (“entitled to”) the promised return, I certainly can’t believe that this is the way in which she is using the term. Given her history, she is assuredly just advocating for her slacker brothas and sistas who are expecting to be supported in their sloth and gluttony. Bringing home the bacon, as it were; meeting expectations.

Let me repeat what I tell everyone I know when SSI is brought up in conversation.
    Don’t count on it.
Consider that money stolen, move on and plan for your own retirement.
Even for those close to retiring.
What you do get will be dissolved by inflation.
Oh, and you can kiss your 401k goodbye

After generations of convincing blacks that they are entitled to anything and everything, and then more of everything, would you really expect them to think any different than what Shelia Jackass Lee is saying? Our compassion has become their “right”.

Demoncrats have created an entire race of govt. hand-out addicts simply to get their political support. If blacks were smarter, or actually cared about themselves, they would have realized that Demoncrats and other bleeding-heart do-gooders of the Left, have enslaved them far more than was ever done by all the old Southern plantation owners combined. (BTW, the first “official” slave owner in the US was, a black man)

And, as is usually the case with any type of addict, their “requests” for more of whatever they can get then become “demands” for all of it. Blacks have learned that the louder and more disruptive they become, the more they will get.

America’s compassion and tolerance for the so-called “poor” have, once again, been used as a weapon against those misguided fools who can’t/won’t see what is really going on.

BTW, is it true that Jackass Lee was the original model for the Gorilla masks worn in all those cheap horror movies back in the 40’s and 50’s?
