Feds Force Farmers to Call Real Skim Milk “Imitation Skim Milk”

What a funhouse we are forced to live in when the government grows too large. Maryland dairy farmers Randy and Karen Sowers could be shut down by the feds if they don’t falsely market their product as “imitation skim milk”:

The couple wants to sell to consumers skim milk, meaning, as has been understood for centuries, milk with the cream skimmed off.

But the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has decided that it can only be called “skim milk” if he adds chemicals.

Their options: (1) pour unnecessary chemicals into their milk, (2) lie to their customers, or (3) watch Big Government crush their means of livelihood.

At least if they opt for #3, the government will offer them generous welfare benefits. The mafia may break your legs, but it doesn’t hand you a crutch afterward the way our benevolent bureaucratic rulers do.

On a tip from Chronos Z. Wonderpig.
