Greenies Resort to Economic Sabotage in Australia

When you are on a righteous crusade to save the planet from an imaginary crisis, the end justifies any means, no matter how malicious and criminal. From Australia:

Greens leader Christine Milne has backed an anti-coal activist whose actions temporarily wiped more than $300 million from the value of Whitehaven Coal, arguing it was part of a “long and proud history” of civil disobedience.

Jonathan Moylan issued a fake ANZ media release on Monday claiming the bank had pulled a $1.2 billion loan from Whitehaven’s Maules Creek project on environmental grounds, prompting a share-market sell-off.

That is, fraud was used to destroy wealth, as surely as other envirokooks destroy wealth by setting fire to developments.

Senator Milne doesn’t have a problem with it.

“Yes, there are investors in Whitehaven Coal who may be affected, but everyone is affected by accelerated global warming.”

So a vandal tried to wipe out people’s retirement savings — so what? That pales in comparison to the global warming menace. Never mind that this hoax was long since debunked, and there has been no global warming in the past 16 years.

Milne barks in approval of the crime:

“So what we had is an activist… [who] came out and took a direct action in this regard. It’s a non-violent direct action. There’s a long and proud history in Australia of civil disobedience.”

Closer to home, I know a community activist waging a brutal war against the coal industry who would heartily approve.

David Blount: there has been no global warming in the past 16 years.

Dave, the trolls are back. Haven’t heard of this one, but he must be one of those page reloaders. Too bad he doesn’t have a life.

  3. Skeeter says:

Call them watermelons. Green on the outside pink or red on the inside. Globull warming is just the tool for even more control and Algore needs to cash in on those carbon credits to keep his unicorn fart powered eco-friendly jet going.

Notably, Son of Taz and Skeeter didn’t respond substantively.

  5. James McEnanly says:

If someone had done this sort of thing just to make a profit, the same people who praise Ms Milne would be calling for medieval forms of execution.

Source data? And I don’t mean adjusted, massaged, buttfucked, whatever. Yeah, you can put a frenzy of black shit there, with little blue and red trend lines on it, but what accounts for those little jumps? I don’t recall any jumps, and the red line doesn’t look familiar.

Hey, she likes “direct action”. So burn down her house.

She needs to be sent home to bake cookies in a carbon neutral way.

It’s cooling: Again, Cook’s graphs and statements are obsolete and a few years from the moment he wrote the page were enough to falsify his new predictions about the accumulating heat. The reality is that between 1998 or 2001 or other years on one side and 2009 on the other side, the global mean temperature dropped. Sometimes it’s cooling, sometimes it’s warming. The year 2010 is likely to be much warmer than 2009, approaching the temperatures of 1998, but when the El Nino fully switches to a La Nina, things can be very different. The fact that there’s been no significant warming for 15 years has been accepted by both sides of this debate. And since 1998, it’s just cooling. Cook has no counter-arguments. He just says that the heat flows influence the temperature and I agree with that. Except that he doesn’t show in which way the flows are going to go e.g. in the next 10 years.

It hasn’t warmed since 1998: Cook claims that the Earth continued to accumulate heat. If you check his evidence, you will see that it is a circular reasoning because the sources also use the models in which the warming should have continued. The fact is that no warming has occurred since 1998 so it’s likely that there’s also no warming in the “pipeline”. Cook emphasizes that 1998 was a year of a strong El Nino. Of course, it was, but it was not unprecedented or unrepeatable. The most recent El Nino episode reached more than 2/3 of the maximum of the 1997/1998 El Nino episode. So they’re surely comparable, to say the least. If 2010 will match the temperatures of 1998, it still means that the “trend-like” warming per 12 years is only comparable to 1/3 of the effect of one El Nino, or 1/6 of the difference between an El Nino and La Nina peaks. It’s very small.

The topic isn’t whether or not we believe in Global Warming, which we don’t, but that an enviro-Moonbat destroyed $300 Million in value of a company that pension funds are invested in.

Seems par for the course that a lib would jump in and try and change the topic. No way even a lib kook can defend this one which will cause old ladies to lose their pensions.

As a resident of Downunder, I take some offense to that remark.

Most of the greenies reside in the inner suburbs of Sydney and Melbourne with a few scattered around the wilds of NSW.

For the record, the city greenies are what I like to call the “Coffee sipping fuckwits” that only drink special ‘free trade’ coffee, protest duck hunting, picket meat works and send angry letters to the paper against the necessary culling of Kangaroos and Camels (The latter being feral and introduced species)

In short, a waste of oxygen!

    , and as an Australian,
…and agreement with johnnosk as well. Trust us, whotothewat, a LOT of people here in the land of sun and surf think very little of the ‘Greens’ and can’t WAIT until the election this year where they and the ALP will be routed comprehensively.

  16. Zachriel says:

The graph isn’t sourced, but in any case, the period shown wouldn’t be able to determine the degree of warming due to industrial causes.

There is virtually no scientific research that supports your contention. Notably, the last few years have seen La Niña conditions that were as warm as previous El Niño temperatures.

The most direct evidence is the warming lower atmosphere accompanied by a cooling stratosphere, the signature of the greenhouse effect.
