Harvard Study Finds Repressing Gun Rights Does Not Reduce Violence

Even Ivy League eggheads have figured out that restricting gun rights does not reduce violent crime:

A Harvard Study titled “Would Banning Firearms Reduce Murder and Suicide?” looks at figures for “intentional deaths” throughout continental Europe and juxtaposes them with the U.S. to show that more gun control does not necessarily lead to lower death rates or violent crime.

Because the findings so clearly demonstrate that more gun laws may in fact increase death rates, the study says that “the mantra that more guns mean more deaths and that fewer guns, therefore, mean fewer deaths” is wrong.

By some remarkable coincidence, Norway “has far and away Western Europe’s highest household gun ownership rate (32%), but also its lowest murder rate.”

Another example:

The murder rate in Russia, where handguns are banned, is 30.6; the rate in the U.S. is 7.8.

Harvard’s data

support the contention that among the nations studied, those with more gun control tend toward higher death rates.

Just like John Lott has been telling us for years.

Next Harvard should do a study on what motivates liberal authoritarians to want us disarmed, since it obviously isn’t concern for our safety.

More Guns Less Crime

On tips from Stormfax, Artfldgr, Dean D, Son of Taz, Bob Roberts, and G. Fox.

C’mon Dave, this little bit of truth has slipped out from behind the ivy-covered walls. Don’t you think they’re working to find out how this got out and to sack those who let it out? This news is like taking a pee at the altar of liberalism.

There’s an old saying around Cambridge: “You can always tell a Harvard man, but you can’t tell him much.”

This still wont stop OBAMA the FINK from banning guns or signing the SMALL ARMS CONTROL TREATY from the DIRTY UNITED NATIONS and as always liberals ignore the facts in favor of politics

  3. StanInTexas says:

I have yet to see a single proposal from the Left that would actually have any impact on crime, other than you make it worse.

Every proposal that put forward targets law-abiding citizens and completely ignores Criminals.

    Repeal all gun control laws

all I can say is well DUH!!!

  8. […] even liberal Harvard confirms that cracking down on our Second Amendment liberties will not reduce gun violence. Obviously Obama […]

  9. […] it should be noted that even Harvard can find no indication that more laws restricting gun ownership would reduce […]

Where’s the leftstream media on this?

    Hmmm? Anyone? Anyone?

  11. JTW says:

guns are illegal here in the Netherlands, but there’s a shooting reported in the papers at least once a week (more often every other day).
And that in a country with a population the size of say New York City.
Knife attacks and other weapons like clubs, crowbars, screwdrivers (make great stabbing weapons apparently), even pens are so common they no longer even get reported except in summaries.

  12. Dr. 9 says:

The commies at Harvard could have saved themselves time by simply reviewing all the studies done after the “assault weapons” ban expired. Those studies found (no) decrease in crime while the ban was in effect, and (no) increase when it was reinstated.
