Is Celebrating Saint Patrick’s Day Cultural Appropriation?

Today many will enjoy Saint Patrick’s Day in the traditional inebriated manner, even if they are not Irish. College students can’t seem to figure out whether this constitutes cultural appropriation:

If they paid closer attention in their social justice classes, these students would know that cultural appropriation is like racism; it’s okay if you do it to white people. Otherwise, only whites would be allowed to use electricity, internal combustion engines, indoor plumbing, modern medicine, the Internet, airplanes, recorded music, et cetera. Irish are white (for the time being), so culturally appropriate away.
