Join the GSA Party

To get an idea of just how arrogant and wasteful our rogue government has become, have a look at what went on in Las Vegas (where Obama has chided us private sector folks not to waste our money) when the useless bureaucrats of the General Services Administration recently threw themselves an $820,000 party on our dime:

Here’s the clown they hired with our money:

These parasites are laughing in our faces even as they bleed us to death. Yet Democrats will vote for still more waste, and even Republicans will let business go on as usual.

The Blaze has plenty more, featuring bureaucrats serving each other giant margaritas and trashing the office supplies we buy them.

Can anyone offer a clue as to why the GSA should even exist?

On a tip from AC.

Yeah, everybody! Let’s get rid of the GSA! Then corporations will rule everything! That will solve our problems.

No institution is perfect, but if you think eliminating important government services like the GSA will make for a better world, you’re nuts, and you’ll deserve to live in the resulting dystopia of corporate misrule that results when only corporations have power. Think the Andes under the encomienda system.

Yeah the gov’t’s doing a bang up job.
Stossel had a great piece on Fox last night that went to the heart of this matter. One clip,”Dodd-Frank, instead of stopping fraud, added layers to already incomprehensible banking laws. Stossel shows how simple rules in the Cayman Islands not only stop fraud, but they also create prosperity.”

People might take your points more seriously if you stopped constructing ridiculous one extreme to the other strawmen.

Wow. That clown thing must’ve looked side-splitting when it was a just a script. “The other guy tells him to get on the conference call, but the clown doesn’t pick up the phone!” HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Holy crap! Sketch comedy at its absolute best!

Actually this is cheap compared to the vacations of bammy & crew. Also GSA did not tie up military planes, Secret Service personnel, and did not interrupt commerce at the destination.
I have read there were anywhere from 300-400 people at this event. That is $2050-$2700 per person. If that were converted to a raise that is $50 per week ($1.30 per hour).
I have a unique solution for this issue. Let the parties continue, call it part of their salary and tax them. It is still cheaper than bammy vacations to Hawaii, Martha’s Vineyard, and sending the first offspring on a top-secret Mexican Fiesta.

What does the gsa do? Answer that and someone MIGHT listen to your government worship.

Why did they have to hire a clown. Was Obozo busy that weekend?

Actually, GSA kind of runs the administration of the government. Currently being in an administrative capacity myself, I’d like to see an efficient GSA and I think this event was an attempt at that, so although it is fun to pile on, I’m not ready to do that until we get a few more facts.

For instance, I’m guessing the clown video was an attempt to portray bad worker habits, so why make fun of it? You wouldn’t want the GSA employee to act like that. I don’t know what they paid for it, but at least its a worthy goal. Sounds like the Blaze may be full of shit which disappoints me because I really respect Back.

And I know that O’Reilly has made a big deal over $4 shrimp, but I’ll tell you we paid $2 for the same shrimp here in San Antonio, TX for our Christmas party. I’d expect Las Vegas to be more expensive. Yeah, $4 is maybe too much os, but a lot of this doesn’t seem that far out of line from when I was in the hotel biz 10 years ago. Probably a little out of line, but I haven’t heard anyone quote their room rate vs the prevailing room rate for the same days of the week for comparable groups.

    “kinda runs”??
I guess there is no real rationale for its existence?

  10. Ghost of FA Hayek says:

    I agree
In fact, the only clowns I saw were the GSA employees themselves

, I’d like to see an efficient GSA
    That’s an oxymoron

  11. Ghost of FA Hayek says:

Let me be a little more specific
I wouldn’t hold my breath for a “more efficient” government
So the next best thing is LESS of an INEFFICIENT one

You know the obamunists are blaming Bush for this, right?

I doubt there are many private companies that would allow you to spend almost $3000 per person on a Las Vegas get-away. Then there are reports that GSA representatives told the hotel that they would make up for the low room rates by charging more for food and drink.

No bonus for you this year.

we need smaller goverment across the board. my guess is this type of GSA thing goes on across the board but the others are smart enough not to video tape it.
