Liberalism Blooms in Sandy’s Wake

The liberal mentality is never on more open display than when Obama’s base has an opportunity to “spread the wealth around”:

A wave a looters followed the Sandy storm surge in Coney Island, creating a double-whammy for business owners trying to pick up the obliterated pieces.

The thieves started down Mermaid Avenue Tuesday morning as the chest-high water receded, turning the seaside community known for its hotdogs and tourist attractions into a lawless free-for-all.

“People were running in and out of Rent-A-Center carrying these big flat screens. They were holding on tight,” said witness Aisha John, 20. “I couldn’t understand how someone could steal a big TV in broad daylight, but no one cared.”

Why should anyone care? Obama has stolen $trillions from our children and grandchildren who will be left to pay off the deficit, yet many people don’t care enough to vote against him.

As with the Democrat Party, the theft is justified with the vile criminal ideology of the Left:

“Look, they’ve been looting our wallets for too long,” said a young male who claimed he helped himself to a TV at the Rent-A-Center.

Good thing Mayor for Life Bloomberg made the city safe by only allowing criminals to have guns.

“It was complete lawlessness,” said Ron Troyano, owner of Joann’s Discount Wine and Liquors on Mermaid Ave.

He said looters used tools to bust through his steel security gates around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The thieves then shattered his storefront and helped themselves to thousands of dollars worth of top shelf liquor, he said.

“They pried open the gate, broke the glass and went straight for the Hennessy and Grey Goose,” he said. …

“They broke right in through the roof while the cops were standing outside. It’s unbelievable. They were passing bottles down to each other from the roof,” he said.

Liquor and appliance stores aren’t the only victims:

“They were literally walking out with shopping carts full of merchandise. They didn’t even look worried,” a Rite Aid employee who declined to give her name told The News.

They looked like they were casually shopping,” she said. “They looked almost happy. I saw an elderly lady walking away with batteries and a bag of Kit Kats.”

Again: why not? They are told again and again by our liberal rulers that they are aggrieved; that property rights are meaningless; that those who have worked harder and acquired more are oppressors; that the world owes them precisely because they are useless and worthless. Then these same liberals disarm the law-abiding so that they cannot defend their property from the Obamunist hordes.

Just as there is no longer any stigma attached to welfare among its intergenerational recipients, there is no shame in more direct forms of theft. Nor is there much concern about punishment. This is what we are up against when we go to the polls on Tuesday:

Any law-abiding, working citizen who votes to endorse their mentality and to use government force to do their looting for them is a traitor not just against America, but against the very concept of civilization.

More glimpses under the rock of our entitlement society:

Until they are forced to take responsibility for themselves, the situation will only continue to deteriorate until the USA is indistinguishable from primeval jungle or hell. Only liberty is a stern enough master to teach the lessons that need to be learned. Liberty and the “safety net” that spawned this scum are mutually exclusive.

I heard some of them were even tweeting in advance of their plans to go looting.
Looting food or water or somethng in at least understandable while still wrong, but looting fine liquor and electronics? It makes me physically ill that someone could be so heartless.
Every one of those vermin should be shot on sight.

  2. StanInTexas says:

Remnants of Katrina. Death and destruction all around you, so you steal TVs and rob old people.

And we are supposed to feel sorry for these people and help them?

  3. metprof says:

Hmmmm….I just noticed their skin color. Who’d have thought…..

  4. chuck in st paul says:

The cops were there to protect the looters. Heaven forbid a citizen defend his property.

  5. bob says:

If they are supported and glean the entirety of their sustenance from the government, IE not by working, then their mentality that this is acceptable behavior is explainable.

It seems the government has created an entire subculture of leeches. Methinks there is no hope for them, it has been bred into their very DNA.

They see an opportunity to get even more things they didn’t work for, they take it. A leech will grab onto anything.

Not talking in any way regarding race, by the way. This has nothing to do with white, black, red, orange, purple or even green people. This is about turning Americans into multigenerational leeches, unable to produce anything but more leeches.

The Liberal Theft; oh wait, I meant to say: The Liberal Left – no, no, it was correct the first time: The Liberal Theft. Party of thieves, degenerates, takers, losers, pimps, the scum churned up by Sandy’s waters and littering this great nation. What do you do with trash? Take all of it to the dump yard. The trash, garbage, rubbish, waste of human society. Dump them all out.

  7. Goodness says:

It was a hoax. The 20 year old TV should have tipped you off.

  8. Metalhead says:

I agree with Goodness. Ya been had. Nobody in their right mind would lift an antique TV like that. Besides, it looks like the guy was at a party posing for a pic.

what makes you say that? my TV looks exactly like that. well, maybe a little smaller.

Not exactly top shelf. On Coney Island perhaps..

I spoke last night to a friend who lives in Brooklyn. She told me that it was actually much worse than what is reported. On some streets virtually every car was broken into. The blessings of diversity.

  14. Goodness says:

There was alot of looting, but the #SANDYLOOTERSQUAD is a hoax. Read the Twitter feed.

  15. Dave Blount says:

    Goodness, Metalhead,
I pulled the pic of the guy stealing a TV that might have been a hoax.

  16. wasabi says:

The stark contrast between the lack of looting following Japan’s earthquake and the ghetto grab fest following hurricane Sandy shows that poverty is more of a mindset than a condition. The fact that these hoodrats are able to summarily justify theft with their entitlement mindset does not bode well for the rest of society and America at large.

Whatever you subsidize, you get more of.

Since 1964, the USSA has been subsidizing parental irresponsibility, stupid life decisions, poor work ethics, and racial parasitism. Any wonder there’s so much of it around today?

  18. Jimbo says:

In the old days they did the right thing; shot looters dead on sight.

There is nothing on earth scummier than a looter.

  19. Ghost of FA Hayek says:

So what is the difference between these small scale degenerates, and watching Bloomberg as he loots the entire city ?
Or Jerry Brown as he loots a state ?
Obama as he loots a nation ?
Soros as he loots a planet ?
    Can I stop now ?

Looter hunting season on the east coast now open. Buck, doe and fawn tags available, no limit. Baited stands recommended but spot lighting is also legal. Minimum caliber 5.56mm or larger, concurrent shotgun season also open.

  22. RobM1981 says:

Here’s something else that bloomed in Sandy’s wake: a complete, total market failure.

Where was the vaunted “invisible hand” when ten zillion gas station owners, and fuel distributors, decided to save a few bucks and not install generators so that they could pump and/or distribute gas during a power outage? Where is the “profit motive” that drove them to invest in infrastructure that would have them cashing in these past few days?

Conversely: where is our vaunted Nanny State? Where is Christie, Cuomo, Bloomberg, Obama, and our most beloved head of Homeland Security, Napolitano? What, nobody could predict a storm like this? Seriously?

Ice storm; hurricane; blizzard – there are three “how abouts” that any reasonably intelligent leader could foresee.

I understand that the shore will flood – that can’t be helped. I get that a storm surge is going to fill the NYC tunnels and downtown. The Battery has flooded before, and it will flood again. I’m not asking for Superman here.

But 12 years after 9/11 and we haven’t hardened our core infrastructure to even a basic level? The terminals aren’t protected from surge and power outages? There are only a few terminals – we can’t invest in protecting them? We can’t offer a tax credit and mandate “you will have power generation equivalent to 4 dispensers, per station, minimum” or something like that?

Where the hell is the money going? We have, literally, millions of Americans who can’t get to work.

No capitalist “innovated” a solution to this? No MasterMind saw it coming and protected the unwashed masses from it?

No. We were too busy banning Big Gulps and coming up with ways to bypass Dodd-Frank…

  23. Clingtomyguns says:

Northeastern liquor store owners should learn to keep some arsenic poisoned bottles that could pass for regular inventory on hand and disperse them during high probability of looting times with their good stock, coding them so they know which ones they are. Put a skull and crossbones sign out front that says Warning to Looters (i.e. Obama Base) – Poisoned Inventory inside, Loot and Die at your own risk. Same with the Electronics store – Have certain stock dispensed during looting times booby trapped to explode or cause deadly electric shock. Again, put out the skull and crossbones sign to give Obama’s peeps their a warning and last rights. Repeat and rinse. All of this is if you live in an area that doesn’t respect stand your ground laws and the 2nd Amendment, like the Northeast. Elsewhere, just shoot the bastards on sight.

  24. octa bright says:

Any store owner who followed your advice would be lucky to be only sued for everything that he owned an almost certainly lose. Much more likely he would be charged with attempted murder or man slaughter at the very least. I don’t like it but that is the current law.

  25. M. Wilson says:

    Rob: it’s called “shit happens”.

There is no such thing as a disaster-proof system. Those generators you’re bitching about? Don’t work underwater, and have extremely limited fuel supplies. Most telecom companies do have their own dedicated generators, almost all hospitals have backup generators, and many gas stations do have emergency power to keep the pumps running during a short power outage.

The problem isn’t that the backup systems weren’t there, it’s simply that the hurricane destroyed them. There is nothing you, the government, or any business could have done to prevent the damage the hurricane caused. For a sufficiently strong hurricane, even mitigation is a joke for anyone too close to shore. All you can do is pick up the pieces. Deal with it.

Bitching and moaning “FREE MARKETS ARE BAD BECAUSE THEY DON”T STOP/PREPARE FOR X DISASTER” ignores the fact that the government wouldn’t be able to do it either, and would fail miserably at everything else in the meantime. We don’t live in a perfect world, there’s no utopia, there is no right to happiness. You can pursue it, but you have to catch it yourself. Healthcare will never be universal (no matter what the state-run systems claim), disease will never be eradicated, hunger will never be eliminated, the poor will always be with us, there is no free lunch.

Capitalism is superior to all other systems not because it is perfect, but because it is less shitty than all the others, and can fairly consistently pick out the lesser of evils when faced with a lose-lose proposition. You could say that Capitalism is the worst economic system, except all the others that have been tried.

Says a lot about how much we coddle criminals and ignore property rights. Ok, then put out no warning signs. What would be the Obama supporter’s claim, he’s dead? What is the family going to say? He broke into the store as a trespasser to redistribute some wealth, and ingested poison that he looted – store should pay us?

Coloreds don’t face consequences for their actions in normal times. So, they don’t consider consequences. Times of trouble – like storms and their aftermath – just make it more convenient for coloreds to be themselves.

I appreciate this thread’s explanation of the entitlement culture of diversity. Yeah, those of us who aren’t diverse aren’t entitled. We work and pay to support the colored rotters. It’s never enough, so they entertain themselves by taking what they want whether it’s a TV or bottle of booze or 12 year old girl’s life.
