Obama Pulls a Magic Number Out of His Hat

What a remarkable coincidence. The day after Obama is spectacularly devastated in a debate, his Labor Department reports a miraculous drop in the unemployment rate:

The nation’s unemployment rate fell to 7.8 percent in September from 8.1 percent in August even though just 114,000 jobs were added to private and public payrolls, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reports.

Under 8% at last, for the first time since Obama took office. Quite a milestone. You see, everything is getting better now. Massive waste and federal micromanagement are turning the ship around.

For the benefit of anyone naive enough to take this number seriously, Shadow Government Statistics is keeping track of reality:

The SGS line counts would-be workers who have given up trying to find employment under Obamunism, and are considered by the government not to exist. Like U6, it includes those forced to work part-time because they can’t find full-time work.

Legendary CEO Jack Welch has a succinct explanation for the Obama Regime managing to reduce unemployment even as so few new jobs are added:

The more powerful Big Government becomes, and the more it can count on the “mainstream” media to do its bidding, the less likely it is that any numbers it reports will be accurate.

Obama and co. are so full of it.

Which ‘why Barry sucked in Denver’ excuse is better? Al Gore’s ‘it was the high altitude’? Ed Schulz’s ‘Obama didn’t want to look like an angry black man’? Enquiring minds want to know…

    Something to think about:

Bill Clinton is getting $12 million for his memoirs.

Hillary got $8 million for hers.

That’s $20 million for the memories from two people, who for eight years repeatedly testified, under oath, that they couldn’t remember anything.

Social justice will be achieved when the blue line breaks through the top of your monitor. Then the people will finally be free of the oppression of a paycheck.

  5. metprof says:

This is very troubling. That a POTUS would so brazenly manipulate a key economic induce to aid in his reelection is beyond belief.

Having added only 114k jobs how many people left the workforce for the rate to drop 3 tenths? Must have been a SHITLOAD.

  6. AC says:

Nobody left the workforce. Comrade Chairman Obamkov vigorously denies the Western imperialist propaganda that those people ever existed in the first place.

  7. IOpian says:

Obama doesn’t wear a hat. You sure that’s where he pulled those numbers from?

There’s no room for Unemployment numbers in his ass…
not while his head is up there.

Look to Secretary Hilda Solis’ ass as the source of these phoney numbers.

    Truly an affirmative action president.

  10. Bob Roberts says:

Naturally after Obama’s point man gathered the media and demanded they fall in line to help Obama, we won’t hear or see anything from them about how these numbers are clearly and deliberately fraudulent.

  11. wingmann says:

Well I was 99.99%sure they would find sub-8% by election time…if we can only get 500k people to stop looking next month, the rate will even be lower.

Here is where we are:Unemployment-22%,Inflation 9%,GDP output-flat to negative…outlook till 2020…not so good.
Banks are not flush(see toxic assets)and the top four banks in the US have a gross notional derivative exposure of about$250 TRILLION in outstanding contracts.(thats almost 4x total world GDP output combined).
The U.S. has added $6 trillion to its debt under obama, a sure sign of being on the road to Third World status. Three years ago, the U.S. had $7.9 trillion in debt. Today, we have $16 trillion. Bankrupt, hyperinflated Zimbabwe couldn’t do any better. While we’re at it, under obama, spending has risen farther and faster than under any president in history. At current rates, government at all levels will take up more than half of all economic activity by 2050.
It IS here,it IS real and it IS going to be painful for years to come.

Wait till we start the entitlement cutbacks…reminds me…get more PM’s…gold, silver and LEAD.

When you factor in ObamaMath, the unemployment rate is actually 7.8 % and gas is really $1.54 a gallon.

  14. KHarn says:

The ONEderchild told us years ago that if the “stimulus” wasn’t passed, unemployment would go to 8%. After it was passed, it went up to 10.1%. The neo-commie regressives are now claiming the reports of 8+% unemployment as “a success”.

  15. KHarn says:

BY the way, we now have about as many people out of work as we did duurring the Great Depression.

Another thing: back then, our money was backed by GOLD AND SILVER and we weren’t handing it out to foreign countrys hand over fist.

  16. TaterSalad says:

The Obama administration has again, “cooked the numbers” and he will tell everyone that “we are moving forward”. Something isn’t adding up America other than for Christmas hiring prospects. The economy lost 16,000 manufacturing jobs the last month. You figure it out.

Among all unemployed persons, the proportion who had been jobless for 27 weeks or longer was 40.1 percent, essentially unchanged from the prior month but down from 44.7 percent a year earlier.

    Christmas hiring prospects:

Among the employed, the number of involuntary part time workers increased by 582,000 to 8.6 million in September.

  20. Sam Adams says:

So let’s see….When Obama came to office, unemployment was a bit below 8% and we had the worst economics since the Great Depression (not actually true, but let’s go with it). After 4 years and $6,000,000,000,000 we are essentially back where we began.

Yes, indeed, Barack; you sure are a master with the economy.

Frankly I don’t understand why Obama didn’t direct the BLS to drop another million workers from their rolls and get the unemployment rate below 6%.

Now…being a little bit of a numbers guy, will this increase in people working (snicker), lead to a corresponding decrease (snicker) in the demand for food stamps? After all, the economy is getting better, isn’t it? (Yeah…by the time the food stamp numbers become available, it will be past November 6th, which is the point of this whole exercise.)

  21. TaterSalad says:

Finally, The Bureau of Labor Statistics where these “fuzzy figures” are coming from….We have this! Two executives for the Bureau are Barack Obama donors.

  22. dan says:

LOL’s….I’m glad you got this ,Dave. I had just checked Shadowstats myself. Sounds like the secret of cooking the numbers is out…a round for the house.

    It’s a kind of magic.

Please look again, these numbers stink so bad it is clear that Obama pulled them from his ass, not his hat.
