New report: A border wall easily pays for itself with its own effectiveness
Now a new report from the inimitable Steve Camarota of the Center for Immigration Studies demonstrates how easily the wall will pay for itself by saving taxpayers the heavy costs of future illegal aliens successfully kept out of the country. Camarota finds that, at a lifetime cost of $74,722 per illegal alien, the border wall will pay for itself within the 10-year budget frame if it only succeeds in keeping out 9 to 12 percent of those expected to successfully cross in the next decade. And as I will demonstrate, border fences are almost fully effective in keeping out those who smuggle through non-legal points of entry. Plus, the lifetime cost of keeping out each alien is very likely much higher.

    Border fences work spectacularly

Once we establish the efficacy of a double-layered security barrier — similar to the one built in San Diego and Israel — it is simply indefensible to focus on the cost of the actual construction. Last month, we reposted my “Case for a Border Fence,” in which I prove conclusively that a double-layered security wall in the toughest areas serves as a force-multiplier.

Trump beat the press – well the DISHONEST LIBERAL press, to a pulp in his recent press conference, which was summarized here:

Now you have to skip way down to get how he opened it up, in fact:

I’m making this presentation directly to the American people with the media present, which is an honor to have you this morning because many of our nation’s reporters and folks will not tell you the truth and will not treat the wonderful people of our country with the respect that they deserve.
Unfortunately, much of the media in Washington, DC, along with New York, Los Angeles, in particular, speaks not for the people, but for the special interests and for those profiting off a very, very obviously broken system. The press has become so dishonest that if we don’t talk about it, we are doing a tremendous disservice to the American people, tremendous disservice. We have to talk about it to find out what’s going on because the press honestly is out of control.

    PERFECT! Absolutely true, 100%.

He pointed out that the press is claiming (as I already posted):

…from the Wall Street Journal… it says that intelligence officials have considered Donald Trump to be so out of touch and so dangerous, they’re gonna stop sharing intelligence with him! And I looked, I said, “Well, this is a coup! This is a silent coup if this is true.”

FAKE NEWS. They work for him. It’s VITAL that they get ALL significant intelligence TO him. Now they may not share specifics about some of their methods WITH HIS STAFF, but you can bet he asks them a question, they’re either going to answer it fully and accurately or they’ll be out on the street looking for a new job.

d the underlying theme was, “We can’t let Trump see the intel because this guy is working with Russia, and he and Russia worked together to undermine our election.” They continue to have that narrative as what’s driving all of their approach to Trump. Everything they’re doing is rooted in that. Trump’s illegitimacy is rooted in a fake narrative that does not exist and did not happen, that the Russians affected the outcome of the election with the assistance of Donald Trump. And that’s the rubric under which that news alert happened last night so Trump addressed it today and mentions how it’s just totally wrong and fake news and a disservice to the American people who read it.

Despite everything he had said today, they asked these insolent questions, “Did you ever talk to Russia during the campaign?” Trump said (paraphrased), “How many times do I have to tell you? I don’t know anybody in Russia! I didn’t talk to anybody in Russia! We didn’t talk about…” He was just going on and on, but they kept asking the questions, because that’s all they’ve got. And they’ve got nothing there. The stories I have in the Stack today clearly state that there is no evidence.

The media is STILL trying to present the LIE that Trump is working with Russia and if it were not for Russia he would not be President.

Uber driver targeted homes when people were away

An Uber driver has been arrested in connection with multiple burglaries in Bethany Beach and Fenwick Island.

Delaware State Police, in conjunction with the Bethany Beach Police Department, announced the arrest of 26-year-old Saddam A. Awadallah of Frankford. Awadallah was tracked down in Tennessee and extradited back to the First State on Feb. 13, state police said.

State police said Awadallah worked as an Uber driver for customers in Bethany Beach and Fenwick Island. While patrons were away at businesses and restaurants in Ocean City and Dewey Beach, state police say Awadallah would burglarize their homes for credit cards, computers, watches, cellphones, tablets, sunglasses and other items of value.

    Interviews with victims:

    Police: And where were you?

Bay Area restaurants register as sanctuary businesses

Bay Area restaurant owners are joining the national debate about immigration policy.

President Donald Trump’s hard-line stance on the issue has sparked the Sanctuary Restaurants Movement, which launched in early January and now counts more than 240 restaurants across the country. The Bay Area is home to about two dozen participating restaurants, including Alfred’s Steakhouse in San Francisco, Cancun Sabor Mexicano in Berkeley and Flea Street in Menlo Park.

If they SELF-IDENTIFY as breaking federal law, it’s time to raid them! They say it’s “symbolic” – as so much of what the left does – all talk, no real world benefit. However, It seems to me that if they’re going to put this out there, it ought to earn them some scrutiny.

Dozens of supporters rallied in Centennial, calling for immigration officials to allow Vizguerra to stay.

“This is not just an attack on me but an attack on the whole immigrant community,” said Vizguerra.

St. Louis County cop says he was told to ‘tone down his gayness’

A 22-year St. Louis County police veteran who was once picked to become the department’s liaison to the gay community is now suing the department for discrimination.

In a lawsuit filed Jan. 10, Sgt. Keith Wildhaber claims a former St. Louis County Police Board member told him to “tone down your gayness” if he ever wanted to be promoted.

Wildhaber declined to comment for this story. His attorney, Russell Riggan, did not respond to multiple requests for comment.

The sergeant ranked third among 26 people who took a promotions test in February 2014, and also was third in a second round of tests in February 2015, according to the lawsuit.

But Wildhaber has watched as virtually all of his peers were promoted, even though his written performance reviews show that he “exceeds standards” or is “superior” in all rated categories, the suit says.

“Defendant believes plaintiff’s behavior, mannerisms, and/or appearance do not fit the stereotypical norms of what a ‘male’ should be,” according to the lawsuit.

Police Chief Jon Belmar would not comment on the suit or agree to an interview about his department’s interaction with gay officers, said a department spokesman, Sgt. Shawn McGuire.

Gay officers can raise concerns through the chain of command, McGuire said.

During a routine business check at Bartolino’s restaurant in 2014, Wildhaber visited with its owner, John Saracino, according to the lawsuit. Saracino was a member of the department’s civilian police board at the time.

“The command staff has a problem with your sexuality. If you ever want to see a white shirt (i.e. get a promotion), you should tone down your gayness,” Saracino allegedly told Wildhaber.

Reached Wednesday, Saracino said: “I never had a conversation like that. I would never say anything like that. That’s not me.”

As if Oroville needed more problems – fortunately, this probably won’t be one:

Two small Earthquakes were recorded near Lake Oroville in the last 24 hrs, which appear to be a result of the fast lake level changes, and the subsequent release of pressure from water weight.

This is not unusual. It’s been seen before. Water weight is significant and rapid changes have been linked to earthquakes before.

300,000,000 pounds of water has been removed in two days, that will cause the earth to jiggle a bit. These were predicted and should not cause any problems.

The magnitude of the quakes were very small, 0.8 and 1.0 on the Richter Scale, and there does not appear to be any threat to the dam infrastructure.

CORRUPT DOJ the source of leaks?

President Donald Trump said Thursday he’s pressing for a full investigation into the intelligence leaks that led to the ouster of former National Security Advisor Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn and Circa can confirm that one of the agencies that they’re looking at is the Department of Justice .

The scope of persons and agencies that would have had access to the information contained in the transcribed phone calls is relatively small and would include DOJ officials as well, several U.S. officials told Circa.

The leaks, which were reported in detail by The Washington Post, regarded the relatively short phone conversation between Flynn and Russian Ambassador to the United States Sergey Ivanovich Kislyak.

Despite calls from some Democrats and Republicans to investigate Flynn, the FBI announced Thursday that they would not be investigating him. Sources close to Flynn told Circa he was willing and ready to speak to anybody or any committee about his conversation and that he broke no laws.

Le Pen is on course to be France’s next president, fund manager says from AI analysis

Marine Le Pen is on course to be the next president of France, according to one fund manager’s big-data analysis.

Arun Kant, chief executive and chief investment officer at Singapore-based investing firm Leonie Hill Capital, told CNBC he expected the right-wing populist to prevail thanks to his firm’s proprietary artificial intelligence (AI) system’s analysis of troves of data.

His analysis — which he said incorporates inputs such as social and traditional media discussions, polling, economics and demographics — predicts that Le Pen will “walk over” her opponents in the first electoral test and then prove most forecasters wrong and steal the lead in the second ballot, Kant said.

The French vote is split into two phases, with the top two candidates from the April 23 round due to face each other in a second run-off on May 7. In the running alongside 48-year old Le Pen are former economy minister and independent candidate Emmanuel Macron, conservative ex-prime minister Francois Fillon and socialist Benoit Hamon.

Kant’s AI program predicts that Le Pen would take 28 percent of the vote in the first round, he said, which would best 16.4 percent for Fillon, and 19 to 20 percent for Macron.

Current inputs are pointing to a Macron victory in the second round — 52.3 percent to 47.7 for Le Pen — Kant said, but he added that he expects the right-wing politician to gain considerable ground after a first round victory.

“If she wins the first round, this dynamic will change,” he said, noting the similarities between the populist appeal of Le Pen and President Donald Trump.

Ah, so at the moment Le Pen is projected TO LOSE but this is expected to change once the first round is through.

Scientists reveal £400 BILLION plan to ‘re-freeze’ the Arctic in retaliation against climate change
The plan involves building hundreds of millions of pumps that will spray seawater across the surface to replenish the thawing ice

The story proper starts with this HUGE LIE:

The warming up of our planet as a result of increased human activity since industrial times is incontrovertibly true.

That our planet had a BRIEF warming period MAY be true – with all the data falsification, we may never know. What we do know is that the rate of warming actually SLOWED as the level of atmospheric CO2 INCREASED, so this alone proves the primary claim of those who are full of Catastrophic Anthropogenic Climate Change Alarmism is FALSE. More CO2 does NOT cause higher rates of temperature increase, if anything it causes SLOWER rates of increase. Though I doubt that as well… it’s not a major player, not at the current atmospheric concentrations.

What they don’t understand is they will have to BURN SOME SORT OF FUEL or otherwise use ENERGY to do this – and with energy use there is always WASTE HEAT – think of this: An air conditioner, a refrigerator, a freezer – all of these produce MORE HEAT than they move. Each is designed to remove heat from one space and each must do something with that heat. And more heat is produced, as a byproduct, in the process. So the same is basically true here – they MAY be able to pump up water, but they’re going to have to produce/consume ENERGY to do it and WASTE HEAT will be a byproduct.

Richland florist discriminated against gay couple by refusing service, state Supreme Court rules

The florist says she will appeal the ruling that she violated anti-discrimination law by refusing to provide flowers to a gay couple for their wedding to the U.S. Supreme Court.

A Richland florist who refused to provide flowers to a gay couple for their wedding violated anti-discrimination law, the state Supreme Court ruled Thursday.

The court ruled unanimously that Barronelle Stutzman discriminated against longtime customers Rob Ingersoll and Curt Freed when she refused to do the flowers for their 2013 wedding because of her religious opposition to same-sex marriage. Instead, Stutzman suggested several other florists in the area who would help them.

Stutzman and her attorneys said they would appeal the decision to the U.S. Supreme Court. They also held out hope that President Donald Trump would issue an executive order protecting religious freedom, which was a campaign pledge.

Stutzman called the ruling “terrifying when you think the government is coming in and telling you what to think and what to do.”

In its decision, the state’s highest court rejected Stutzman’s claims that since other florists in the area were willing to provide flowers, no harm resulted from her refusal.

The court also rejected Stutzman’s claims that her floral arrangements were a form of artistic expression and so protected by the First Amendment. Citing the case of a New Mexico photographer who similarly refused to take pictures at a gay marriage, the court said, “while photography may be expressive, the operation of a photography business is not.”

In December 2012, soon after the state legalized gay marriage, Ingersoll and Freed began planning a large wedding. Stutzman, who had provided flowers to the couple numerous times over the years, refused, citing her religious belief that marriage is a sacred covenant between a man and a woman.

CNN Cuts Off Bernie Sanders After He Calls Them ‘Fake News’ Jokingly

And while we’re talking about “fake news”, the banner in this opening shot for this video reads:

OFFICIAL: Flynn talked sanctions with Russia despite denials.

I read an account, and I am anxious to stand corrected if this is incorrect, that the conversation went something like this:

Russian: Hey, how about those sanctions.

Flynn: Oh, that? Of course, we’re looking at that no doubt, but it’s not really my area and of course we’re not actually “in office” yet so I’m not really able to discuss it.

Now if anyone has published the ACTUAL transcript of what was said, I’d like to see it, because it seems it’s being misrepresented in at least two critical ways in obvious “FAKE NEWS” reports:

    1) The Trump team trying to take control of things before Trump was even officially in office.

    2) Flynn talking about easing sanctions as a “thank you” for Russia hacking the election and causing Clinton’s loss.

So far, from ALL HONEST ACCOUNTS I’ve seen the facts would seem to be:

    1) The subject came up, brought up by the Russian. Flynn quickly dismissed it. There was no significant discussion of sanctions.

    2) It was a very minor point that came up during a phone call in which many major points WERE discussed.

    3) Flynn either didn’t remember that it even came up, it was so minor, or correctly stated that they didn’t discuss it, because he dismissed it and so there’s a difference between the Russian bringing it up and him dismissing it and the two of them having any sort of significant discussion about it.

    4) Flynn told the FBI he did not recall everything discussed and did not recall discussing sanctions, see 3 above.

    5) Flynn also told Pence he did not DISCUSS sanctions, see 3 above.

    6) It was clear the media was going to make a major case out of this even though no wrongdoing occurred, other than the people who leaked the content of classified intelligence gathering related to the monitoring of “diplomatic” phone calls.

This actually could work out for the better – as it puts the Trump team on notice that there are people who are ready to illegally reveal every word they say in any context in attempts to make them look bad. So A) they need to watch what they say while B) the leakers must be found, prosecuted and also of course dismissed.

One person who I thought had her head on straight has put forward the RIDICULOUS claim that Trump sent Flynn out ON PURPOSE to discuss the easing of sanctions with the Russian then, when it came out, denied it and had Flynn fall on his sword as a cover up.

  46. Bodhisattva says:

There is some – perhaps wholly justified – criticism that Trump is going back on an important part of his promise to clean up the immigration mess – by allowing many of the CHILDREN who were BROUGHT HERE BY THEIR PARENTS to stay. I don’t see that as happening, rather I see them avoiding a very potentially disastrous political misstep by putting this as a much lower priority. I would be OK with them prioritizing 1) Illegal aliens who have been convicted of other crimes, particularly serious ones, up to and including identity theft, even if it was “to work”. 2) Any illegal aliens involved in, even if not necessarily tried and convicted of being involved in, drug running, gun running or human smuggling 3) Illegal aliens who came here illegally as adults, whether by obtaining some form of legal entry then overstaying, or by sneaking across the border. 4) Anyone who is a member of any group such as MEChA, any group or person that organizes or takes part in any even slightly anti-American demonstrations, any group that advocates the creation of a new state by taking U.S. territory or advocates returning U.S. territory to Mexico 5) Any group or person who criticizes anyone in our government from Trump down for advcating the enforcement of, or participating in the enforcement of, existing immigration laws 6) Anyone who organizes or takes part in any demonstration that attempts to impede the open crossing of our borders or the attempts of our ICE/Border Patro/Homeland Security personnel in the performance of their duties

And even before DACA folks in general:

    7) Any of the “children” brought here illegally by others, or encouraged by others to come here, who are taking advantage of taxpayers by supporting themselves with public assistance

And perhaps even more important than any of that, we need to pass a law that specifically repeals the “anchor baby” concept, let it get challenged in court, then if it doesn’t hold, amend the Constitution to specifically outlaw the notion of “anchor babies”.

One thing to note: Storm intensity is caused by DIFFERENCES, not SIMILARITIES. As the Earth warmed – and it did warm, that is a fact – at least the north pole got WARMER so the difference between it and equator, at least between the NORTH Pole and equator, because there is some evidence the South Pole may have cooled, was reduced. This caused a REDUCTION in storm intensity, as this is the engine that drives storms – the DIFFERENCE in air masses. Part of why we saw a significant drop in the overall total intensity of tropical cyclones during this time, as measured by the ACE index.

    This is weather 101.

Now we see some intensification going on with these California storms, though it’s not a trend just yet. It will have to return next year, maybe the year after too, for that. If it does, that suggests the north pole is COOLING and that the overall trend has switched from WARMING to COOLING.

There are many inconvenient truths the climate alarmists either don’t know or are hiding deliberately.

Thanks for pointing that out. What you say makes sense when you stop and think about it.

Yesterday I had to show my wife the clip where a representative though Guam might flip over. She couldn’t believe anyone in elected office could be so dumb. Yet the dems appear to attempt to outdo themselves….like it is a contest.
