Ancient stone carvings confirm that a comet struck the Earth around 11,000BC, a devastating event which wiped out wooly mammoths and sparked the rise of civilisations.

Experts at the University of Edinburgh analysed mysterious symbols carved onto stone pillars at Gobekli Tepe in southern Turkey, to find out if they could be linked to constellations.

The markings suggest that a swarm of comet fragments hit Earth at the exact same time that a mini-ice age struck, changing the entire course of human history.

Scientists have speculated for decades that a comet could be behind the sudden fall in temperature during a period known as the Younger Dryas. But recently the theory appeared to have been debunked by new dating of meteor craters in North America where the comet is thought to have struck.

However when engineers studied animal carvings made on a pillar – known as the vulture stone – at Gobekli Tepe they discovered that the creatures were actually astronomical symbols which represented constellations and the comet.

Using a computer programme to show where the constellations would have appeared above Turkey thousands of years ago, they were able to pinpoint the comet strike to 10,950BC, the exact time the Younger Dryas begins according to ice core data from Greenland.

The Younger Dryas is viewed as a crucial period for humanity, as it roughly coincides with the emergence of agriculture and the first Neolithic civilisations.

Before the strike, vast areas of wild wheat and barley had allowed nomadic hunters in the Middle East to establish permanent base camps. But the difficult climate conditions following the impact forced communities to come together and work out new ways of maintaining their crops, through watering and selective breeding, and so farming was born.

The Rachel Maddow Show’s Fake News on Venezuela
Venezuelans swarmed the streets this week in protest of a brutal dictator who has led the country into a humanitarian crisis without food or medicine, freedom of speech or democratic government.

They were certainly not protesting Donald Trump, despite what MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow may tell you.

Maddow tried to claim on her show Thursday night that the streets of Venezuela had exploded with protests and marches in response to recent news surrounding a subsidiary of a major Venezuelan oil company that donated half a million dollars to the Trump campaign.

Seriously? It’s pretty clear the citizens of Venezuela had other priorities, like making sure their children do not die of hunger or illnesses.

April 19 marked 207 years of Venezuelan independence from Spanish colonialism, and with that date in mind, both the political opposition and President Nicolás Maduro planned rallies that ultimately clashed and, the next day, saw military force used against unarmed citizens.

Yet the banner caption running on MSNBC read, “Unrest In Venezuela Over Trump Donations” — what many following the events in Venezuela criticized as sloppy reporting to the point of fake news.

    No argument there.

“Venezuela is a country in intense turmoil right now,” Maddow said. “The sanctions that the US put on Venezuela were put there in 2014 after 43 people got killed while participating in anti-government protests. Another three people got killed just yesterday. There have been protests for weeks and weeks and weeks. And today Venezuelans are enraged anew by this brand new FEC filing from The White House.”×572.png

    Bisexuality and murder…

Aaron Hernandez may have murdered Odin Lloyd to keep his own bisexuality a secret, according to a report Friday that also said one of his suicide notes was addressed to a gay jailhouse lover.

“One of the notes left by Hernandez was to his prison boyfriend, who is now on 24/7 suicide watch, multiple law enforcement sources confirm,” Newsweek reported.

Hernandez’s sexuality had also played a role in the murder for which the disgraced Patriot tight end was serving life without parole in the Souza Baranowski Correctional Center, the report said.

So they both have a touch of moonbat (though Jenner is claimed to be somewhat conservative – even voted for Trump, but soured when Trump vacated Obama’s ridiculous rule that let men use women’s restrooms and vice-versa if they had gender confusion issues) and as a result it’s hard to tell if the claim is true. Gayle King’s serious CBS colleagues had a lot to say about her recent yacht jaunt with former first couple Barack and Michelle Obama in Tahiti, and it wasn’t positive.

“The ‘Capital J’ journalists are pissed and raving mad that she was on a yacht with the Obamas over the weekend. The old-school people were talking about it. She shouldn’t be doing that. She’s an anchor of a news program that covers the White House. You’re held to a different standard. It’s one thing to be friendly. It’s another thing to go vacationing on a yacht,” a source told us of the backlash at CBS.

King and the Obamas were on billionaire David Geffen’s yacht in Tahiti with Tom Hanks, Bruce Springsteen and King’s bestie Oprah Winfrey.

King’s “CBS This Morning” co-anchor Charlie Rose also wasn’t happy about the jaunt. “Charlie wasn’t pleased. I thought he and Gayle got along, but when things like this happen, it makes the show look bad,” the source said.

Denny’s fire attack suspect faces attempted murder charge; victim in critical condition.

Clackamas County sheriff’s deputies have arrested a 24-year-old man who they say doused a customer with gasoline at Denny’s Wednesday night and then lit him on fire.
The victim, 69-year-old Scott Ranstrom, is in critical condition with burns to his face and body. His family has set up a GoFundMe page.
Deputies identified the suspect as DeShaun James Swanger. They say he was living in transitional housing with 18 people. They arrested him shortly before 8 p.m. Thursday near 80th and Sunnyside Drive. Buck Sleight, a neighbor and Swanger’s former roommate, called in a tip that helped lead deputies to the suspect.
“I was at work, and I got the message on Facebook — if I recognized the guy — so I called authorities and handled it,” Sleight said.
He added the house where Swanger lived is a “clean and sober house.” Sleight used to live there, as well.
“It’s disgusting to me, hearing what happened to this elderly man,” Sleight said. “He didn’t deserve that, so anything they give him, he’s going to get what he deserves.”

Apparently in the painting, Zuma is “violating” Mandela? They don’t show it…

A South African painting showing the president in what appears to be a sexual act with Nelson Mandela is stirring outrage as well as calls to respect freedom of expression.

Artist Ayanda Mabulu said his painting is meant to show how scandal-plagued President Jacob Zuma has violated the hopeful legacy of Mandela, the anti-apartheid leader who became South Africa’s first black president after the end of white minority rule in 1994.

Earlier this month, cartoonist Jonathan Shapiro, who signs “Zapiro” on his work, penned an image that showed Zuma zipping up his trousers and walking away from a distraught woman wearing a dress with the colors of the South African flag and being held down by Zuma supporters. Some people criticized Zapiro for alleged insensitivity to rape victims. The cartoonist said he wanted to send a strong message about the impact of Zuma’s conduct on South Africa.

They didn’t show that one either.

An Egyptian American charity worker who was imprisoned in Cairo for three years and became the global face of Egypt’s brutal crackdown on civil society returned home to the United States late Thursday after the Trump administration quietly negotiated her release.

President Trump and his aides worked for several weeks with Egyptian President Abdel Fatah al-Sissi to secure the freedom of Aya Hijazi, 30, a U.S. citizen, as well as her husband, Mohamed Hassanein, who is Egyptian, and four other humanitarian workers. Trump dispatched a U.S. government aircraft to Cairo to bring Hijazi and her family to Washington.

Hijazi, who grew up in Falls Church, Va., and graduated from George Mason University, was working in Cairo with the Belady Foundation, which she and her husband established as a haven and rehabilitation center for street children in Cairo.

    Another important campaign pledge kept….

Sanctuary Cities Face Aid Cuts as Justice Dept. Tightens Screws

But this one… seems to be a disappointing about face:

President Donald Trump says young immigrants shielded from deportation – often referred to as “dreamers” – should “rest easy” about his immigration policies.

In an interview with The Associated Press, Trump says he is “not after the dreamers, we are after the criminals.” He says “that is our policy.”

President Barack Obama changed enforcement priorities to protect many young people brought to the country illegally as children from deportation.

Attorneys say 23-year-old Juan Manuel Montes was recently deported to Mexico despite having qualified for deferred deportation. Montes sued Tuesday for access to records on his deportation.

Trump says Montes’ case is “a little different than the Dreamer case,” though he did not specify why.

(This link has several stories including the above: )

And here is how the Montes case is different, in part anyway:

The left has the best heroes and USA Today manufactured an entire fairy tale around a petty criminal who was too lazy to tell the truth, reapply for DACA, and also too lazy to tell authorities he was leaving the country.

But he’s a leftist hero! The first DREAMer to be deported!

USA Today reported the heartwarming story of the DREAMer, titled, “DREAMer is first to be deported under Trump.” It hammers Trump while it goes through the tear-jerking details. As it has been said, never let a good crisis go to wasteor to quote, Gypsy Rose Lee, “Ya gotta have a gimmick.”

Described as “shy,” Juan Manuel Montes, 23, is portrayed as a victim in this Gannett publication. Garnnett is shrinking in size and iS often called, the Daily Regurgitation.

The hapless Juan mysteriously finds himself in a series of events that end up with him being deported to his homeland – Mexico.

Poor Juan says, “I thought that if I kept my nose clean, nothing would happen.” Except, he didn’t keep his nose clean, he’s a shoplifter who drives without a license.

“Buried at the end of the bobbing and weaving account of “undocumented” Montes we read that Court records show he has four convictions: one for shoplifting in January 2016, and three for driving without a license, most recently three months ago.

Oh, but he merely left his wallet in a friend’s auto, he told the border authorities who picked him up jumping the fence.

As Morning in Arizona points out: If he had one, and got it AZ , it is fraud–If he had one. You have to provide a Birth Certificate to obtain an AZ DL). According to the newspaper’s report, Montes’ convictions are not serious enough to disqualify him from Barack Obama’s DACA protections. Repeatedly entering the USA by stealth, in violation of the law and committing further crimes once here, isn’t murder, after all.

The lazy thief never bothered to re-apply for DACA or tell the government he was leaving the country as we said. That was too much trouble. Instead, he hopped the fence back into the country when he was arrested. All he had to do was re-apply and he was notified to do so. The left is fighting for this shoplifting lazy lout.

One might call the USA Today story FAKE NEWS!

Listen below to this absurd video the newspaper concocted, but first review the facts:

USA Today: Apprehended while he was waiting for a car ride to pick him up.

Fact: Apprehended by Calexico Station Border Patrol minutes after illegally entering the U.S. by climbing over the border fence.

USA Today: Left his wallet in car so didn’t have proof of his DACA status on him.

Fact: DACA status expired in Aug. 2015 and he was notified at that time.

USA Today: Said, “I thought that if I kept my nose clean nothing would happen.”

Fact: Has a conviction for theft for which he received probation.

USA Today: Montes was confused when he was approached by the federal officer in February.

Fact: “Admitted under oath during the arrest interview that he had entered illegally.”

But the election this spring for mayor of Omaha is pitting abortion rights activists against economic populists and threatening the party’s unity as it regroups to confront President Trump.

Berkeley Is Being Tested on 2 Fronts: Free Speech and Safety – and is failing on both!

Also the group that calls itself “ANTIFA”, which they say means ANTI-FASCIST – is the one comprised of people engaging in fascist behaviors.

In explaining why it had canceled a speech by Ann Coulter scheduled for next week, the University of California, Berkeley, said that it had “very specific intelligence” that Ms. Coulter might be in “grave danger.”

To Ms. Coulter and her supporters, it was another example of Berkeley showing intolerance of any opinions other than the liberal ones it is famous for. But the university that championed free expression in the 1960s has become known, in the polarizing first months of the Trump presidency, as something more: a meeting ground for those wanting to express themselves with wooden clubs and fists.

Days after fights broke out between anarchists and right-wing groups near campus, and a couple of months after masked protesters smashed windows and set fires to stop a speech by the incendiary right-wing writer Milo Yiannopoulos, the police are preparing for a possible replay if Ms. Coulter follows through on her vow to show up anyway on Thursday.

“The city and campus have become the stage on which the national political tensions are playing out,” said Dan Mogulof, a spokesman for the university. “Coming here, they know they will be able to find an opponent pretty easily.”

Berkeley now finds itself bracing, essentially, for two battles.

One is with Ms. Coulter and the groups bringing her to campus, the Young America’s Foundation and the university’s College Republicans. The groups have threatened to sue the university, saying its offer to allow Ms. Coulter to speak the next week, and in the early afternoon, when fewer students will be around to hear her, “violate fundamental principles of free speech, equal protection and due process guaranteed by the United States Constitution.”

The other is a potential physical confrontation. Leftist activists on and off campus, including a loosely organized group calling itself Antifa, for “anti-fascist,” are threatening to do anything they can to block Ms. Coulter from speaking. Right-wing supporters are gathering support on Facebook, making plans to come to the campus to defend her.

Moonbats claim “climate change” is the cause of increased wildfires. Not so:

A single vehicle started a series of Mat-Su wildfires that kept crews across the region busy for hours Thursday afternoon, Mat-Su fire officials said.

Ken Barkley, the Matanuska-Susitna Borough deputy director of emergency services, said the first fire near Hemmer Road in Palmer was reported at about 2:30 p.m. Another was soon reported near Colony High School, followed by two more in the Big Lake area.

“We were chasing fires all the way from Big Lake to Palmer,” Barkley said. “We had four fires going on at the same time — it was absolutely insane.”

Each of the fires burned roughly one-tenth of an acre, Barkley said. A total of 25 to 30 firefighters, from area fire departments as well as the Alaska Division of Forestry, responded to the calls and had all of the fires under control by about 5 p.m.

Authorities ultimately tracked the wildfires’ source to a white Chevrolet pickup.

“It was actually backfiring and causing the fires, is what we found out,” Barkley said. “(Alaska State Troopers) finally caught up to the vehicle.”
