  3. Mr. Freemarket says:

“For example: It was argued to me this week that the Google memo failed to constitute hostile behavior because it cited peer-reviewed articles that suggest women have different brains. The well-known scientist who made this comment to me is both a woman and someone who knows quite well that “peer-reviewed” and “correct” are not interchangeable terms. This brings us to the question that many have grappled with this week. It’s 2017, and to some extent scientific literature still supports a patriarchal view that ranks a man’s intellect above a woman’s.”

A real scientist would understand that “different” and “above” are not interchangeable terms. Do women have different brains than men?

That question is only posed by those who have never been married.

At a link that includes environment/climate-consensus-97-per-cent the apparently moonbat controlled Guardian says, first:

    Coincidence doesn’t prove causality

This is true. Absolutely true. Undeniable.

    Then they deny it:

but when the same two things happen together over and over again through the vast span of geological time, there must be a causal link

No “must” about it. And there “could” be a causal link, that’s true, but it’s not an established fact.

It is trying to further the myth that there’s an ongoing mass extinction based on a tiny rise in atmospheric CO2, which I’ll deal with shortly.

The claim is that, during events which resulted in large outflows of lava, followed by formation of “sills” (magma that makes it into the upper crust but not to the surface) there were corresponding mass extinction events. This is a theory that was looked at before and, from what I’ve read, found to be untrue in some cases, possibly true in others. If these mass lava events also featured the release of aerosols or ash that made it high into the atmosphere then this alone, without CO2 being a player, could have caused a slow collapse of the food chain and this might have played a roll in a mass extinction event.

But the main point is they expect you to take the false claim we’re in a mass extinction event NOW as a given, but it’s not true as I said.

Even the IPCC admitted it… nearly four years ago!

The United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change is distancing itself from past claims that global warming could cause mass extinctions.

A leaked IPCC draft report says that there is “very little confidence that the models currently predict accurately the risk of extinction.”

The leaked report, obtained by Germany’s Der Spiegel newspaper, says that an “acute lack of data” have added to doubts over past claims made by climate scientists of mass extinctions in the future. “[B]iological findings have increased doubt over the expected species extinction,” says the IPCC.

Paleo Expert: Earth is Not in the Midst of a Sixth Mass Extinction

According to renowned Smithsonian Paleontologist Doug Erwin, people who claim we are in the midst of an anthropogenic mass extinction don’t have a clue what a mass extinction actually is.

“As scientists we have a responsibility to be accurate about such comparisons.”

    PETER BRANNEN JUN 13, 2017

At the annual meeting of the Geological Society of America, Smithsonian paleontologist Doug Erwin took the podium to address a ballroom full of geologists on the dynamics of mass extinctions and power grid failures—which, he claimed, unfold in the same way.

I had written to Erwin to get his take on the contemporary idea that there is currently a sixth mass extinction under way on our planet on par with the so-called Big Five mass extinctions in the history of animal life. Many popular science articles take this as a given, and indeed, there’s something emotionally satisfying about the idea that humans’ hubris and shortsightedness are so profound that we’re bringing down the whole planet with us.

Erwin says no. He thinks it’s junk science.

“Many of those making facile comparisons between the current situation and past mass extinctions don’t have a clue about the difference in the nature of the data, much less how truly awful the mass extinctions recorded in the marine fossil record actually were,” he wrote me in an email. “It is absolutely critical to recognize that I am NOT claiming that humans haven’t done great damage to marine and terrestrial [ecosystems], nor that many extinctions have not occurred and more will certainly occur in the near future. But I do think that as scientists we have a responsibility to be accurate about such comparisons.”

“People who claim we’re in the sixth mass extinction don’t understand enough about mass extinctions to understand the logical flaw in their argument,” he said. “To a certain extent they’re claiming it as a way of frightening people into action, when in fact, if it’s actually true we’re in a sixth mass extinction, then there’s no point in conservation biology.”

This is because by the time a mass extinction starts, the world would already be over.

“So if we really are in the middle of a mass extinction,” I started, “it wouldn’t be a matter of saving tigers and elephants—”

“Right, you probably have to worry about saving coyotes and rats.

“So you can ask, ‘Okay, well, how many geographically widespread, abundant, durably skeletonized marine taxa have gone extinct thus far?’ And the answer is, pretty close to zero,” Erwin pointed out. In fact, of the best-assessed groups of modern animals—like stony corals, amphibians, birds and mammals—somewhere between 0 and 1 percent of species have gone extinct in recent human history. By comparison, the hellscape of End-Permian mass extinction claimed upwards of 90 percent of all species on earth.

Ashley Judd offended that TSA employee has the audacity to call her “sweetheart.”
    And it gets worse…

“Then she said that while she was conversing with a female security worker, the man who’d been annoying her crossed the biggest line yet: He touched the actress.

Judd didn’t elaborate on how, where or for what reason the male worker touched her, but she told Facebook Live viewers it angered her.

“I didn’t see him touch anybody else. And I turned around, and I said ‘that was unnecessary.’ By that time, you know, my skin was burning, my feet are burning,” she recalled. “It’s so hard to continue to set these boundaries when someone continues to push.”

Her skin was burning…her feet were burning…

Is that because she came out in the light of day?

LawNewz: BOMBSHELL: NSA Experts Say DNC ‘Hack’ Was Actually a Leak and Inside Job

A new report states categorically that the Democratic National Committee (DNC) was not hacked by Russians–or anyone else–as frequently alleged by the mainstream media, liberal intelligentsia and anti-Trump politicians. The Nation‘s Patrick Lawrence wrote a lengthy review of the findings made by various computer experts formerly with the NSA. Published this week, the left-wing magazine’s report notes two bases for their conclusion: (1) hard science shows that a remote hack of the DNC servers resulting in the breach that actually occurred would have been technologically impossible; (2) forensic review of the initial Guccifer 2.0 documents proves that they are poorly-disguised cut-and-paste jobs–forgeries–intended to finger Russia.

Wash. Free Beacon: Michael Moore’s One-Man Broadway Play Opens to Terrible Reviews

Moore presented a one-man play starring himself that was promoted as “uncensored” and “All-American.” He describes the play as a “12-step meeting for the Democratic Party.” The show is “a hilarious satirical tour through the depraved new world we find ourselves in since appointing a madman as the leader of the free world,” according to Moore’s website. But reviews of “The Terms of My Surrender” published after the show did not take kindly to Moore’s performance.

  17. Bodhisattva says:

Sometimes it seems like reality is laughing at those who foolishly believe humans have usurped the orders of magnitude greater natural forces that actually control weather, temperature and climate. Even the IPCC and a group of noted climate scientists, including Michael Mann, admit (in a roundabout way, but still also deny) that it is natural forces, not humans, who control weather, temperature and climate:

… the rate of warming over the past 15 years (1998–2012; 0.05 [–0.05 to 0.15] °C per decade) … is smaller than the rate calculated since 1951 (1951–2012; 0.12 [0.08 to 0.14] °C per decade).

SOURCE: (page 2, bottom, is where it starts)

The point of the above being that as the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere increased the rate of surface warming decreased. Then some propeller head at NASA falsified a bunch of records and came out with a report that said this wasn’t true – but in direct response to his hilarious and ridiculous claims the following was published:

It has been claimed that the early-2000s global warming slowdown characterized by a reduced rate of global surface warming, has been overstated, lacks sound scientific basis, or is unsupported by observations. The evidence presented here contradicts these claims. A large body of scientific evidence — amassed before and since the Fifth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change indicates that the surface warming slowdown, also sometimes referred to in the literature as the hiatus, was due to the combined effects of internal decadal variability and natural forcing.
