America faces one of the worst flu seasons ever as doctors warn the vaccine is only 10% effective this year – and infections are already on the rise
The US will be hit by the H3N2 flu strain this year – the same strain responsible for the biggest outbreaks in recent history
Australia suffered the worst flu to date this summer due to the H3N2 flu strain
Experts say the flu vaccine appears to be just 10% effective this year

Naturally blacks are upset after, in the case of Conyers, who has embarrassed them once again, the Democrats failed to apply their usual double standard – the same one they applied to Clinton and are applying to Franken, but not to Trump, Moore or for that matter Bill Cosby (black) or Weinstein (Jewish)… hmm do I see a pattern here?

Of course, the other difference is the allegations against Conyers are credible, the ones against Moore and Trump, at least, aren’t. Yeah, they’ve got a point in the cases of Clinton and Franken though.

Apparently they’re also upset that Republican Blake Farenthold dressed in duck pajamas alongside women in lingerie back in 2010. In 2014, Farenthold was sued by a former staffer, who accused the congressman of gender discrimination, saying that he created a hostile work environment and improperly fired her after she complained.

‘They all knew’: Media elites roared in laughter at obscene 2008 ‘roast’ sending up Matt Lauer’s office sexcapades

Embattled NBC executives have been falling over themselves insisting they had no idea about Matt Lauer’s pervy past. But if anyone doubts that New York’s media elite was aware of Lauer’s reputation, they should look no further than a top-secret “roast” of Lauer that took place in October 2008.

The notorious event — now legendary in New York media circles — pushed the outer limits of sexist, racist, homophobic and obscene jokes — and left little doubt that Lauer’s colleagues knew NBC’s biggest star had a troubled marriage and a wandering eye.

Last week, NBC’s own Joe Scarborough, who attended the roast but said he left early, feeling uncomfortable, brought it up on “Morning Joe.” Lauer’s peccadillos, he said, were not just known about. At the roast, they were celebrated.

“The whole theme was that he does the show and then he has sex with people, with employees,” Scarborough said. “So was this whispered behind closed doors? No. It was shouted from the mountaintops and everybody laughed about it.”

The 2008 Friars Club roast took place at the New York Hilton and was attended by everyone from future President Donald Trump to TV legend Norman Lear to a constellation of New York’s media elite including Brian Williams, Diane Sawyer, Nancy O’Dell and Howard Stern. Also on hand were numerous top executives from across the business and almost everyone who was anyone at NBC News. Fox News has confirmed many details of the roast with a media executive who attended, and has also drawn on the one contemporaneous account of the roast, which appeared in The Village Voice.

Speaker Martha Stewart joked, “I hear NBC executives call Matt the ‘Cock of the Rock,’” according to The Voice.

Another of the roast’s speakers was current CNN Worldwide President Jeff Zucker — then the chairman of NBC Universal — who last week adamantly denied that he had any idea about Lauer’s in-office sexcapades.

“It’s just good to see Matt up here and not under my desk,” Zucker said from the podium. “I don’t want to say Matt is a germophobe, but he’s the only guy I know who uses Purell both before and after he masturbates.”

Right Wing News: Newest Thing That Contributes To ‘Climate Change’: Bitcoin

(Daily Caller) Bitcoin has caught the attention of liberal writers who argue the digital crypto-currency is contributing to global warming. Vox and The New Republic (TNR) have pieces out highlighting the massive amounts of energy it takes to mine Bitcoins, most of which comes from fossil fuels. Most Bitcoins are mined in China, fueled by cheap coal power. TNR’s Emily Atkin wrote that “Bitcoins are contributing to the warming of the atmosphere without providing a significant public benefit in return,” adding “[w]e only have 32 years left for carbon emissions to peak and then rapidly decrease, if our planet is to remain livable.” (snip)

CNN: Time awards Person of the Year to those who reported sexual misconduct

Time magazine has named “The Silence Breakers,” representing people who came forward to report sexual misconduct, as its Person of the Year. It’s a recognition of the cultural reckoning this year and the #MeToo movement, which represents the people, mostly women, who have fueled a worldwide discussion about sexual harassment and assault. “This reckoning appears to have sprung up overnight. But it has actually been simmering for years, decades, centuries,” Time’s story said. “These silence breakers have started a revolution of refusal, gathering strength by the day, and in the past two months alone, their collective anger has spurred immediate and shocking results: nearly every day, CEOs have been fired, moguls toppled, icons disgraced. In some cases, criminal charges have been brought.”

Daily Mail: Turkey warns Trump is ‘plunging the world into a fire with no end in sight’ as Middle East leaders and the Pope condemn upcoming decision to recognise Jerusalem as Israel’s capital

Leaders across the Middle East warned on Wednesday that President Donald Trump’s anticipated announcement recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital would inflame Muslim feelings worldwide and bring further chaos and instability to the region. A Turkish government spokesman said that the move will plunge the region and the world into ‘a fire with no end in sight’. Criticism poured in from Tehran and Ankara to war-ravaged Syria and Pope Francis, reflecting the anxiety ahead of Wednesday’s expected announcement, which upends decades of US policy. In a frantic series of calls, the leaders of Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, the European Union, France, Germany and Turkey all warned Trump against the move.

Who will use all this iron? What will they build with it? 1000 cities the size of New York???

    A couple hundred rail lines?

“It is thought that by studying the rock, scientists can better learn how to defend Earth against the threat.”

Another silly statement. A rock that is 156 miles wide is, like all other rocks in space, subject to Newton’s laws. You can either move it, or let it hit the earth.

How this got to the Supreme Court does make me scratch my head. From the Patriot Post:

In a pluralistic society like America, this should not be an issue. The plaintiffs admit there were plenty of other bakers who would provide the cake, but this was never about getting a cake. No, it’s about forcing endorsement of the homosexual agenda and punishing a Christian for living by his faith.

This year, it is the President who has to get in line. The choice by Time of the “Silence Breakers” — the women and men who have spoken out about their experiences of rape, sexual assault and harassment — as Person of the Year 2017 is not just a recognition of the jolt to society the #MeToo movement has caused. This has got to be the most laughable headline the “global warmers” have produced recently.

Independent: Worst-case global warming predictions are the most accurate, say climate experts: ‘There is a 93 per cent chance that global warming will exceed 4°C by the end of this century,’ lead scientist says

Current predictions of climate change may significantly underestimate the speed and severity of global warming, according to a new study. Reappraisal of the models climate scientists use to determine future warming has revealed that less optimistic estimates are more realistic. The results suggest that the Paris Climate Agreement, which aims to keep global average temperatures from rising 2°C, may be overly ambitious. “Our study indicates that if emissions follow a commonly used business-as-usual scenario, there is a 93 per cent chance that global warming will exceed 4°C by the end of this century,” said Dr Ken Caldeira, an atmospheric scientist at the Carnegie Institution for Science who co-authored the new study.

The 8,000-word story, published Tuesday evening, attempts to pin down who knew what and when about Weinstein’s alleged misconduct. According to the Times, at least eight agents at Creative Artists Agency were aware that Weinstein had sexually harassed or threatened female clients, yet the agency continued to do business with him and send actresses to meet with him.

The story also details Weinstein’s close relationship with tabloid journalists, detailing how Weinstein would provide tips to reporters about others in exchange for killing stories about his infidelities. The story also documents Weinstein’s close relationship with Bill and Hillary Clinton, and discloses that Weinstein was involved in a documentary project about Hillary Clinton until revelations of his sexual misconduct came to light.

Latest revelations make the entire ‘collusion’ probe look like a partisan hit – which it actually obviously was from the very start.

So Peter Strzok wasn’t just a top investigator for special counsel Robert Mueller until he was axed for anti-Trump and pro-Clinton bias: He was also a major player in the Hillary email probe and the FBI work that led to the “collusion” investigation.

And Mueller and the FBI both dragged their feet on sharing key info about all this with Congress.
Including the news that Strzok was the one who changed then-FBI chief Jim Comey’s draft language on Clinton’s use of that private server from “grossly negligent” to “extremely careless” in the final version.

That’s huge, because the statute specifies that gross negligence in the handling of classified info is itself a crime, whatever the intent — though Comey declared that Clinton shouldn’t face prosecution precisely because she had no “intent” to break the law.

Strzok also conducted the FBI interviews of Clinton and her top aides, Cheryl Mills and Huma Abedin, in the email probe.

President Donald Trump on Wednesday said that a government shutdown “could happen” as soon as Saturday.

“It could happen,” Trump said during a Cabinet meeting at the White House, in response to a reporter’s question about the Friday deadline for a spending bill to fund the government.

“The Democrats are really looking at something that could be very dangerous for our country,” Trump said. “They are looking at shutting down. They want to have illegal immigrants, in many cases people that we don’t want in our country, they want to have illegal immigrants pouring into our country, bringing with them crime, tremendous amounts of crime.”

Congress has until midnight on Friday to approve a short-term spending package to keep the government open. Despite majorities in both chambers, Republicans will need Democratic votes to pass the bill.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., responded on Twitter to Trump’s comments saying: “President Trump is the only person talking about a government shutdown. 30. Bodhisattva says:

Despite the moonbats dominance (or perhaps BECAUSE OF IT) SoCal remains a great place to live – apparently particularly if you’re homeless:

The nation’s homeless population increased this year for the first time since 2010, driven by a surge in the number of people living on the streets in Los Angeles and other West Coast cities.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development released its annual Point in Time count Wednesday, a report that showed nearly 554,000 homeless people across the country during local tallies conducted in January. That figure is up nearly 1 percent from 2016.

Of that total, 193,000 people had no access to nightly shelter and instead were staying in vehicles, tents, the streets and other places considered uninhabitable. The unsheltered figure is up by more than 9 percent compared to two years ago.

Increases are higher in several West Coast cities, where the explosion in homelessness has prompted at least 10 city and county governments to declare states of emergency since 2015.

City officials, homeless advocates and those living on the streets point to a main culprit: the region’s booming economy .

So basically they blame the fact the economy, under Trump, is doing so well – even though these people were on the path to homelessness and most of them actually got there due to the 8 years of economic malaise under Obama.

If it’s affordable homes that are the problem, ship them all to Democrat strongholds where there are plenty of cheap structures, often abandoned. Democrats ruin an area whenever they take control.

Moonbats will tell you that Obama deported more illegals than anyone did before him… the truth is coming out:

Obama blocked deportation of 550,000 illegals, more than Atlanta’s population

U.S. immigration officials have revealed that they face a deportation backlog of 550,000 illegal immigrants who were given temporary amnesty by former President Obama or simply let off the hook by liberal judges.

The massive backlog is being tackled by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, but the sheer numbers — bigger than the populations of Atlanta or Sacramento — is overwhelming the agency’s enforcement and removal department.

This week as ICE and other immigration officials reviewed successes under President Trump, a reporter asked Matthew T. Albence, executive associate director for enforcement and removal operations, if he knew the number of outstanding deportation orders. The conversation went this way:

Albence: “Ballpark is going to be around 550,000.”

Reporter: “Whoa. Why is it so high?”

Albence: “Well for a large part of the last four or five years we’ve been unable to take enforcement action against those individuals.”

Under Obama, many deportation actions were delayed starting in 2014, he said.

Even if ICE officers found one in a jail, Albence said that they were advised against seizing the illegal. “Our officers had to turn their heads and walk the other way. So that’s a large part of that problem, the fact that we couldn’t enforce the law,” he said.

And liberal judges also forgave or protected illegals, even illegal populations like several Iraqi’s in the Detroit area, some sought for murder, according to ICE.

“We need to hold liberal judges accountable,” said ICE Acting Director Thomas D. Homan.

Homan said ICE plans to fight those cities and other obstructions to send a message to illegal populations that they are not safe from deportation, even if they have been in the U.S. for 10 years.

“There has to be a consequence and a deterrence to illegal activity or the illegal activity won’t stop,” said Homan.

Bloomberg Corrects Bombshell Trump Bank Records Story

Bloomberg News corrected Wednesday its bombshell report that special counsel Robert Mueller had subpoenaed Deutsche Bank records pertaining to President Donald Trump and his family.

“Mueller issued a subpoena to Germany’s largest lender several weeks ago, forcing the bank to submit documents on its relationship with Trump and his family, according to a person briefed on the matter, who asked not to be identified because the action has not been announced,” Bloomberg reported Tuesday.

Trump’s attorney John Dowd denied the original Bloomberg article. “We have confirmed that the news reports that the Special Counsel had subpoenaed financial records relating to the president are false. No subpoena has been issued or received. We have confirmed this with the bank and other sources,” Dowd wrote in a statment.

John Conyers’ son — the one he wants to replace him in Congress — was arrested this year for felony domestic violence … TMZ has learned.
John Conyers III got in a fight with his girlfriend on February 15, 2017. Law enforcement sources tell us he accused her of cheating after going through her computer at around 2 AM. The argument allegedly escalated into physical violence … she told cops John body slammed her on her bed and on the floor, pinned her down and spit on her. She says she tried calling the cops, but he took her phone.
The woman claims he then chased her into her kitchen where she grabbed a 10-inch knife to protect herself, ordering him to leave the house.
She says he grabbed the knife and then swung at her twice, stabbing her, cutting her right bicep which required 3 stitches. She says he then chased her back into the bedroom, pinned her against the bed and slapped her.
They both called 911 and when cops came John claimed she pulled a knife on him and, when he grabbed it to protect himself, he accidentally stabbed her.
Cops looked at the woman’s injuries and then arrested John for felony domestic violence. The woman was taken to the hospital.
The L.A. County D.A. declined to prosecute John … partly because there were no witnesses and partly because prosecutors couldn’t prove beyond a reasonable doubt the stabbing wasn’t an accident.

  48. Bodhisattva says:

Like any enterprise you have to do a cost/benefit analysis including present value of cash (for all purposes) versus future value against expected return. The idea though is to send up as little as possible then use the resource for extraterrestrial building so we don’t have to send up resources later – even though later we may have other, cheaper ways to send stuff.

The price of steel on the ground is much cheaper, but the price of steel in space is that cost plus $1,00 a pound.

Ever heard about the concept of a “space elevator”? They did some tests of the concept with the shuttle I think, but we don’t have the required exotic materials needed yet.

  49. Mr. Freemarket says:

Ah, yes; the space elevator. As memory serves, it was hoped that C60 carbon nanotubes might have enough strength to allow a rope to extend into space, tethered to a satellite in geosynchronous orbit.

If only we could turn on the structural enhancement fields, they might be possible. I have that filed in my cabinet right next to warp drive.

Natural selection is very good at weeding out DOMINANT genetic characteristics and predispositions that reduce the likelihood of reproducing, but not RECESSIVE ones. And the expression (from Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle’s “Oath of Fealty”) is “Think of it as evolution in action.”

  51. BradenLynch says:

    Homosexuals = biological dead end

Funny how the godless people who believe that the universe sprang into existence for no reason and life spontaneously occurred and undirected evolution produced diverse species, cannot figure out that homosexuality is at odds with their science.
