Socialism is precisely the religion that must overwhelm Christianity. … In the new order, Socialism will triumph by first capturing the culture via infiltration of schools, universities, churches and the media by transforming the consciousness of society. - Antonio Gramsci

There was a time, not to long ago (geologically speaking) that the Earth warmed more than any human has ever experienced. It warmed quickly, over no more than 200,000 years – which is amazingly fast (geologically speaking). And this period of warming, which featured lush tropical jungles, at the poles no less, ended quickly and mysteriously – all without any human CO2 driving it. The Paleocene-Eocene Thermal Maximum. And guess what – life didn’t struggle and die when it got warmer, as climate alarmists say it must – rather it thrived!

The one thing they ALMOST get right – they do mention that as the globe warms NATURALLY AND NORMALLY CO2 is released from different things and so the atmospheric CO2 level rises.

It gets into the usual lies – that organisms can’t survive in water that is 36 degrees (C) or 96 degrees (F), when in fact we see organisms thriving in hot springs and at sites on the ocean floor where temperatures reach that and higher.

It brings up the myth of “ocean acidification” when in fact there is no valid evidence the entire ocean, on average, is experiencing any significant shift in pH – limited measurements in limited depths at limited locations do not tell the whole story, but what they do tell is there was a tiny shift TOWARDS NEUTRAL, meaning if anything, if we ASSUME this is an actual measurement of a real trend, the ocean is becoming LESS reactive, slightly.

And of course at the end it goes into the moonbat nonsense that the Earth has warmed at a much greater rate than could be possible without humans driving it – and I will say that when you look at the actual temperatures versus the “adjusted”, reported temperatures, you find that does seem to be true – the adjustments do add up to what some might consider an alarming amount of warming. However, fortunately, that alarming trend is not present when you look at the raw data. only in the data adjusted by those wishing to scare us into believing the world is warming at an alarming pace and we’re all doomed even, at this point, if we do what they say. Because we waited too long. Should have done stupid stuff 30, going on 40, or even 50 years ago and now we’re just so doomed, I need to find safe space and rock back and forth silently so I’ll end this post now.

Uber did nothing wrong, but that couldn’t stop the liberal outrage of #deleteUber

So what did Uber do exactly? Something about Trump, something about strike-breaking… either way, something about which you should be very, very upset.

Or, try this: Uber did nothing wrong. Except find itself in the firehose of righteous liberal anger.

It was too late. The cycle of liberal outrage was fully underway, and that cycle is incredibly difficult—if not impossible—to stop.

The moment the taxi workers’ strike began and AirTrain service for non-ticketed passengers (i.e., protestors) was suspended, Uber was, operationally speaking, in a bind. If the company allowed prices to increase due to congestion—as it usually would—riders would have been furious and accused Uber of gouging during a civil protest (worse, imagine a newly released detainee having to pay five times the normal fare to get home). If Uber suspended service at JFK entirely—in solidarity with the taxi strike—protestors and people trying to get to their flights would largely be stranded, while drivers who did want to work wouldn’t have the option. So Uber did what was logically best: It turned off surge, ensuring that those who needed a ride could get one without paying extra, but didn’t force or even encourage drivers to keep working.

But for the most part, the people who got behind #deleteUber this weekend weren’t citing any of those reasons. Many seemed to not even understand what had happened. Instead, they read unsubstantiated claims that Uber had tried to bust a protest at JFK, or that its CEO had just joined a Trump advisory group (Kalanick joined the council on Dec. 14, and no one was deleting Uber then). They decided that Uber stood for everything wrong with corporate America.

Not even quite a full year in… and this!

How the Trump era is changing the federal bureaucracy

Nearly a year into his takeover of Washington, President Donald Trump has made a significant down payment on his campaign pledge to shrink the federal bureaucracy, a shift long sought by conservatives that could eventually bring the workforce down to levels not seen in decades.

By the end of September, all Cabinet agencies except Homeland Security, Veterans Affairs and Interior had fewer permanent staff than when Trump took office in January – with most shedding many hundreds of employees, according to an analysis of federal personnel data by The Washington Post.

The diminishing federal footprint comes after Trump promised in last year’s campaign to “cut so much your head will spin,” and it reverses a boost in hiring during the Obama era. The falloff has been driven by an exodus of civil servants, a diminished corps of political appointees and an effective hiring freeze.

Even though Congress did not pass a new budget in his first year, the drastic spending cuts Trump laid out in the spring – which would slash more than 30 percent of funding at some agencies – also has trigged a spending slowdown, according to officials at multiple departments.

The White House is now warning agencies to brace for even deeper cuts in the 2019 budget it will announce early next year, part of an effort to lower the federal deficit to pay for the new tax law, according to officials briefed on the budgets for their agencies. One possible casualty: a pay raise that federal employees historically have received when the economy is humming.

Federal workers fret their jobs could be zeroed out amid buyouts and early retirement offers that already have prompted hundreds of their colleagues to leave, according to interviews with three dozen employees across the government. Many have chafed as supervisors lay down new rules they say are aimed at holding poor performers and problem workers to account.

  18. Bodhisattva says:

Moonbats are desperately trying to create the myth that the fake Trump dossier is not what was used as a pretext to start the Russia investigation.

Revising history right in front of us, again.

And still blatantly lying, as they were all along.

    Take this example:

In an early morning tweetstorm, President Trump accuses former president Barack Obama of wiretapping him in Trump Tower during the election. Trump offers no evidence of his claim. Republicans in Congress struggle to defend the unsubstantiated claim.

At the time this propaganda piece was published, March 31, 2017, I do not recall whether it was public knowledge Obama had illegally used offices of the Federal Government as “Watergate Bunglers” to spy on the Trump campaign, but we know that now. The only question is why hasn’t Obama been held to account for his obviously illegal acts?

  19. Bodhisattva says:

Michael Moore and Al Gore unhappy – propaganda films no longer profitable!

Hollywood tries to save the Earth (by destroying the economy and weakening America), but moviegoers aren’t buying eco-messages anymore

Climate change got its close-up in 2017. A gaggle of films either name-checked Al Gore’s biggest fear or built their narratives around it.

The timing, in theory, couldn’t be better for Hollywood bean counters: Three major hurricanes. Massive fires in the West. Record-setting chills. Media reports routinely connected the disasters with a warming planet.

Yet audiences stayed away from films influenced by eco-concerns. Far, far away.

Think “Blade Runner 2049,” “Geostorm,” “Downsizing,” “An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power” and “mother!” They all flopped, some in spectacular fashion.

  20. Bodhisattva says:

Moonbats trying to ban words – top target: “Fake news”.

    They don’t like the truth.

Words banned for the new year? ‘Fake news’ gets top vote

It was also found to be the second most annoying word or phrase used by Americans in an annual Marist College poll, behind “whatever.”

Apparently moonbats are “triggered” when things they desperately want to believe are revealed to be nothing more than “fake news”.

A shooter opened fire at a southern California law firm Friday, killing one man and injuring another before fatally turning the gun on himself, police said.

The shooter was an attorney who used to work at the firm, was not identified by police and was recently fired, reported the Orange County Register. He shot two senior partners of the firm Perona, Langer, Beck, Serbin, Mendoza and Harrison, according to the newspaper.

I’m curious if the reason he was not identified might wind up having something to do with his race, ethnicity, immigration status or religion.

Although this one does look like it’s just plain old workplace anger and revenge for being fired, perhaps.

The crippling cold has brought transit systems grinding to a halt in Boston while there were 30 crashes in one Michigan county alone on Friday morning due to treacherous icy roads.

Fountains froze over in New York where New Years Eve partygoers are being warned to lay off the booze and bring some hand warmers to see the famous big ball drop in Times Square as forecasters say it will hit -11C.

A dog in Ohio was found frozen solid on a front porch — while three Atlantic White Sharks have been found frozen solid having been washed up on Cape Cod Bay, Massachusetts over the last three days.

The Atlantic White Shark Conservancy said: “We hauled the shark off the beach and it is currently thawing at NOAA Fisheries Service to be dissected later. A true sharkcicle!”.

In collusion news today, the New York Times has devoted six reporters to producing the “news” that the previously obscure Trump campaign aide George Papadopoulos lies at the heart of the putative case. Their story is “How the Russia inquiry began: A campaign aide, drinks and talk of political dirt.”

I think the story is ludicrous on its face. The Times has served as a prime purveyor of the Trump/Russia hysteria. Yet reality has deflated it. Now the Times returns to pump it up. The names have changed, but the song remains the same.

The Times has lost the thread on its preferred narrative. Indeed, attention has turned to the Steele/Trump dossier and the apparent wrongdoing related to it. The authorities inside the Obama administration who took advantage of it seek to cover their tracks. The deeply felt needs of the Times and its collaborators are consummated in today’s big story.

Who helped the Times concoct its story today? We have come to expect the usual guarded law enforcement and intelligence sources who cannot be identified because the information is classified and they weren’t authorized to talk about it.

With whom did the Times conduct the interviews? What were the circumstances? Who contacted whom? How can this story have remained dormant until today? The Times doesn’t say.

Shutting the barn door after it’s already pretty much burned to the ground:

The New York Times reports that the impetus for the FBI’s investigation of suspected collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia was not the anti-Trump dossier, but rather statements made by George Papadopoulos. He was the young Trump campaign staffer who later pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI.

According to the Times, after a heavy night of drinking, Papadopoulos told Australia’s top diplomat in Britain that Russia had political dirt on Hillary Clinton. Two months later, when leaked Democratic emails began appearing online (none of which, by the way, rose to the level of “dirt” on Hillary), Australian officials passed the information about Papadopoulos to their American officials. This information supposedly led the FBI to open an investigation in July 2016 into Russia’s attempts to disrupt the election and whether any of President Trump’s associates conspired.

I assume the Times’ report was fed to it by current and/or former FBI officials and/or others in the Obama administration with an interest in dismissing the role of the dossier.

If Papadopoulos actions drove FBI probe, why wait til nearly Feb 2017 to interview him? If done to keep probe quiet before election, why wait more than two months after vote?

When did officials brief Congress about Papadopoulos? They briefed Congress about Carter Page in late summer 2016.

Did officials seek a surveillance warrant on Papadopoulos? They reportedly got one on Carter Page in summer 2016. Did they try to get one on Papadopoulos? If not, why not?

It’s also important to remember that the question of whether the dossier prompted, or helped lead to, the FBI investigation is separate from the question of what role the dossier played when the Justice Department obtained a warrant from the FISA court to engage in electronic surveillance of members of Trump’s team.

Debating BDS with Cornel West (Great read – Dershowitz destroys Cornel West on every point.)

The topic was: “The boycott, divestiture and sanctions (BDS) movement will help bring about the resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.”

Zionism was the national liberation movement of the Jewish people, not a colonial enterprise. Nor is Israel in any way like South Africa, where a minority of whites ruled over a majority of Blacks, who were denied the most fundamental human rights. In Israel, Arabs, Druze and Christians have equal rights and serve in high positions in government, business, the arts and academia.

BDS is not a protest against Israel’s policies. It is a protest against Israel’s very existence.

West argued that BDS would encourage Israel to make peace with the Palestinians. I replied that Israel would never be blackmailed into compromising its security, and that the Palestinians are disincentivized into making compromises by the fantasy that they will get a state through economic and cultural extortion.

Baltimore provides sanctuary status – for MS-13 gang members here illegally.

Baltimore is one of dozens of jurisdictions across the country that prevents local police from working with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to deport any illegal immigrants they arrest. Sessions argues these policies only release dangerous illegal immigrants back onto the streets, rather than allowing ICE agents to exercise their lawful duty to deport them.

Sessions also cited Baltimore’s skyrocketing murder rate, which passed 2016’s count of 318 before the end of November. The city’s homicides spiked in 2015 .

“We know MS-13 in the region here is responsible for a quite a number of the most brutal murders,” Sessions said. “I don’t know that the city itself has a high MS-13 murder rate … but this region — Northern Virginia, Islip, New York, Houston, Los Angeles — are the centerpieces of the most MS-13 violence.”
