The year in review; Trump’s biggest accomplishments:
Neil Gorsuch confirmed to the Supreme Court
Republicans passed a major tax reform bill
Jerusalem recognized as the official capital of Israel
U.S. withdrew from the Paris climate accord
Obama administration’s deal with Cuba rescinded
    EPA regulations rolled back

It’s a good start. But the Okefenokee swamp covers 684 square miles. (The District of Columbia covers 68.34 square miles.) We are going to need a bigger drain hole.

The headline: CALIFORNIA GOES TO POT

It refers to the fact California is now violating federal law, like other states, allowing not just medicinal bur recreational marijuana use.

But as some of the stories often posted here prove, here’s one of them:

California went to pot a long time ago when liberal moonbats took over.

    Here’s the story about marijuana:

    The internet claims another magazine?

Playboy Might Kill Magazine to Focus on ‘World of Playboy’
Company switches focus to licensing, branding deals in post-Hefner era

Playboy Enterprises Inc.’s controlling shareholder—private-equity firm Rizvi Traverse—is in talks to acquire the 35% stake Mr. Hefner left in trust to his heirs, a person familiar with the matter said. At the same time, the company says it is doubling down on efforts to make money from brand partnerships and licensing deals built around the Playboy name, ethos and bunny logo, with increasingly less focus on its editorial roots.

“We want to focus on what we call the ‘World of Playboy’ which is so much larger than a small, legacy print publication,” said Ben Kohn, a managing partner at Rizvi who took over as Playboy Enterprises’ chief executive in May 2016. “We plan to spend 2018 transitioning it from a media business to a brand-management company.”

Mr. Hefner’s death will hasten that transition. Rizvi, which helped him take Playboy private in 2011 in return for control of nearly two-thirds of the company, had agreed to continue publishing its flagship magazine while he remained alive. The deal also granted Mr. Hefner some ability to approve or block certain deals, people familiar with the arrangement said. Those rights don’t pass to his heirs.

Meat eaters ‘have more sex than vegetarians’

    (says a meat company)

I’m not convinced the survey was scientific or it’s conclusions were valid, but it sounds good to me!

Sandra O’Sullivan, 41, of Hastings, East Sussex, said the research was ‘crazy’, adding: ‘Vegetarians have as much sex as anyone else, although I must admit it’s been a while for me now. I’m not tempted to start eating meat – I’ll take my chances and stick to tofu.’

Have you received your notification regarding your big chance to help a Nigerian Prince transfer his money to America – for a generous fee?

‘Nigerian prince’ email scammer arrested in Slidell

A 67-year-old Slidell man who served as a go-between for an international team of scammers running a “Nigerian prince” email scheme has been arrested after an 18-month investigation.

Michael Neu, who is neither Nigerian nor a prince, has been charged with 269 counts of wire fraud and money laundering.

Neu helped shuttle fraudulently obtained money to his co-conspirators, some of whom actually do live in Nigeria, according to the Slidell Police Department.

The ubiquitous scheme, which begins when an email is sent to an unsuspecting recipient the scammers claim has been named as the beneficiary in a will, is designed to collect personal information that is then used to steal money and identities online.

The scheme nets millions of dollars each year, according to the SPD, and is difficult to track since many of the participants operate outside of the United States.

A Cape Cod PetSmart employee was seriously injured when a dog being groomed attacked her.

Barnstable Police say the 22-year-old woman was grooming the pit bull mix at the Hyannis store when he bit down on her arm. The dog would not let go despite air horns and a special spray being used.

The victim suffered severe wounds to her torso, wrist and hand. She was taken to Cape Cod Hospital and later flown to Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston for treatment.

She told police the dog was wearing a muzzle when his owner brought him in to be groomed Wednesday morning. According to the police report, the owner said the dog was “as sweet as can be” and was wearing the muzzle because he had previously attacked another dog.

The victim told the owner that it was store policy to remove the muzzle in the grooming area. PetSmart says they are investigating the incident.

Why they didn’t just put that dog down is beyond me… but hey, it happened in moonbat controlled Massachusetts so I’m not really surprised.

Air Force Could Test “Flying Aircraft Carriers” as Early as Next Year

No, it’s not an “Avengers/S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier” like we see in the movies.

This DARPA program calls for the creation of a new class of small, reusable drones that can be launched midair from a C-130 air transport, disperse to surveil (or, depending on the payload, attack) targets as much as 300 miles away, then return to their flying airbase to dock for refueling and rearming.

Basically, Gremlins will be flying, warlike Roombas, but supersized — big enough to carry 60 pounds of payload each.

And of course pictured is Gloria Allred. a prime player in this movement to use false claims of harassment and exploitation for political purposes. Her daughter is involved as well – was soliciting complaints, in exchange for cash, in a successful attempt to smear Roy Moore in Alabama:

Partisans, Wielding Money, Begin Seeking to Exploit Harassment Claims

As the #MeToo movement to expose sexual harassment roils the nation’s capital, political partisans are exploiting the moment, raising hundreds of thousands of dollars to support accusers who come forward with charges against President Trump and members of Congress, even amid questions about their motivation.

As accusations take on a partisan tint, activists and lawyers fear that such an evolution could damage a movement that has shaken Hollywood, Silicon Valley, media suites in New York and the hallways of Congress — and has taken down both a Democratic fund-raiser, Harvey Weinstein, and a conservative stalwart, Bill O’Reilly.

There’s been a fairly consistent theme: Those accusing Republicans/Conservatives have no valid evidence supporting their claims and often provide details which cannot possibly have been true. Those accusing Democrats/moonbats tend to be able to support their claims with evidence. And other moonbats admit “everyone always knew” – well, everyone but the person doing the talking, it seems.

  12. Bodhisattva says:

While I’m sure there are Republicans/Conservatives who have done wrong, because they’re human too, the most egregious complaints coming out always seem to be against the very moonbats who are “Social Justice Warriors” against that which it turns out they are doing:

Chris Matthews Runs An Abusive Work Environment

    Yeah, I can see that.

MSNBC Host Chris Matthews runs an at times openly derisive and brazenly sexist news operation that has led at least some staffers to describe themselves as victims of “battered wives syndrome,” according to three of his show’s guests and two former producers who spoke exclusively to The Daily Caller.

Two former NBC producers independently alleged Matthews would rate the looks of his female guests on a scale and said Matthews was so abusive that staff joked about being battered women. The interviews in total paint Matthews as a tyrant liable to fly off the handle at the slightest mistake, who was eager to objectify women and made inappropriate sexual comments appear to be a matter of course for someone in his position.

Both former NBC producers requested anonymity out of concern for their future careers. One is actively seeking a job in media and the other still works closely with MSNBC. One expressed fears about being labeled a “troublemaker” and cited the string of former Fox News women who have all but disappeared from television.

“Sadly, I know other women who won’t even be an anonymous source regarding Chris [Matthews] because they’re that concerned about the door closing on career opportunities in media,” the producer concluded.

  13. Bodhisattva says:

Well liberal moonbat groups got what they wanted: Lower police presence, more black-on-black crime and rising murder rates:

After complaining about police and getting reduced police presence as a logical consequence, Baltimore residents blame record-high murder rate not on the criminals they’re encouraging, but rather on lower police presence.

Does not having police around cause more crime, or just allow it?

    Moonbat reduces familial gene pool:

Minutes before midnight on New Year’s Eve, a 16-year-old boy allegedly used a semi-automatic rifle owned by a family member to shoot and kill his parents, sister and a family friend inside the parents’ home in a coastal city in southern New Jersey, the county prosecutor said.

The teen, whose name has not been released, is in police custody in connection with the shooting deaths of his father, Steven Kologi, 44; mother, Linda Kologi, 42; sister, Brittany Kologi, 18; and a family friend, Mary Schultz, 70, who was residing at the Kologi home in Long Branch, New Jersey, according to Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher Gramiccioni and a statement from his office.

The teen’s brother and grandfather apparently escaped harm. They “thankfully left the home and came out OK,” Gramiccioni said at a press conference Monday morning.

Police arrived on the scene shortly after receiving a call from inside the home about shots fired at 11:43 p.m. on Dec. 31, a statement from the prosecutor’s office said.

The boy was arrested at the scene without incident, Gramiccioni said.

It will be interesting to see how this case unfolds. Is the shooter pictured here?×307.jpg

New Zealanders build island in bid to avoid alcohol ban

Locals joked that they were in “international waters” and thus exempt from an official liquor ban.

Since alcohol was banned at all public parks and beaches after numerous significant alcohol related incidents pushed things that way here in San Diego, there are occasional small flotillas of various types of watercraft which take place on holidays, as the alcohol ban does not extend into the waters of local bays and such. I don’t know the details, since I don’t take part (I don’t drink, personal choice, no other reason) so there’s probably a distance you must be offshore to avoid being hassled and potentially arrested and if you don’t have a “designated driver” for your watercraft you could still get a BUI (Boating While Intoxicated).

Hmmm now where did I park my car again?

How 1,000C car park inferno vaporised the FLOOR: Apocalyptic images show gutted multi-storey with no sprinklers where all 1,400 vehicles were reduced to ashes by heat that could melt aluminium

    Global warming sucks:

U.S. Average Temperature Plummets to 11 deg. F
    January 1st, 2018 by Roy W. Spencer, Ph. D.
This morning at 7 a.m. EST, the area average temperature across the contiguous 48 states was a frigid 11 deg. F.

Now this is just weather, not climate – but it’s weather that climate alarmists said we would never see again due to global warming – which, apparently, still isn’t living up to their predictions.

Except for the fact they now claim warming causes cooling.

Research shows 2017 was the safest year yet for airline passengers as no large commercial passenger jets crashed all year.

In a year when more people flew to more places than ever, 2017 was the safest on record for airline passengers.

The Dutch-based aviation consultancy, To70, has released its Civil Aviation Safety Review for 2017. It reports only two fatal accidents, both involving small turbo-prop aircraft, with a total of 13 lives lost.

No jets crashed in passenger service anywhere in the world.

However, jet blast killed a tourist standing close to the runway on the Caribbean island of St Maarten.

You’ve probably heard of this place, maybe even seen video of it:

  24. Bodhisattva says:

One of the recurring falsehoods of global warming alarmists is that we’re seeing unusual and unnatural things happening now, things that have never happened before humans caused them, things that could not happen were humans not causing them. Focusing in on either temperature change or sea level change, a study of evidence from the past quickly proves these claims wrong. Here I’ll talk just a little about sea level changes.

Sea levels are reportedly rising at about 3 mm per year – though as with temperature change this figure may be exaggerated, the result of data faked to support the claim, unfortunately.

But that is not an unusual or unnatural rate of change – sea levels have changed throughout history and, as shown by the study of landforms, even before written history started and also before there were humans to write that history or witness events.

Here’s a short video revealing, among other things, how people have had to retreat from shorelines as sea levels rose and low lying areas as the waters advanced:

And here is a chart of sea level changes during various glacial periods and interglacial periods. Note sea levels were higher during a previous interglacial and also how the rate of sea level change (on the left, closer to the present) has actually slowed down significantly.

When they talk about predicted outcomes and the falsely alleged unusual nature of changes we witness today, remember, it’s just another example of moonbats demonstrating how much they know… that simply isn’t true!

And who did the “former Obama advisors” get their orders to tell Trump what to do from?

Former Obama Advisers Tell Trump to ‘Be Quiet’ on Iran Protests

I remember Obama supporting several protests in several countries… but, curiously, not Iran. In fact from what I understand, didn’t he stop the DEA and/or the Justice Department from doing criminal investigations that were connected with Iran’s Hezbollah terrorist organization?

Congress is going to investigate whether Obama undermined an investigation into a major terror group to secure the Iran deal

If the Iranian government falls, details of Obama’s dealings with them might come out:

The Enormous Fraud of the Iran Deal Is Catching Up with Obama

    Obama’s hidden Iran deal giveaway
By dropping charges against major arms targets, the administration infuriated Justice Department officials — and undermined its own counterproliferation task forces.

Talk about high crimes – I guess it’s too late to impeach him… and to do so would just be “racist” anyway.
