    A Visit to “Hannity”

My wife and I recently had the privilege of meeting Sean Hannity and viewing a taping of Fox News Channel’s “Hannity.”

I don’t typically get all agog over celebrities and can’t say I was agog over Sean but I can say he wasn’t what we expected. We had expected a typical celeb–arrogant, stand-offish, obsessed with himself. Hannity was anything but. A friendly, down-to-earth guy, he sincerely welcomed us, affably thanked us for visiting his show, and treated us like family.

My son had met Sean before and wangled another invite for my wife and me, accompanied by him and his wife, to be in the audience during Thursday night’s taping during which he conducted a video interview with Governor Sarah Palin and featured my elevator buddy, Liz Cheney.

It should first be made clear in order to ward off a flood of requests to attend a taping by Hannity friends and foes that attendance is by invitation only–and the audience consisted, in our case, at least–of a total of four situated on a small platform some 20 feet away from the host and his guests.

Hannity doesn’t depend on an audience of hundreds applauding his every statement for his outstanding ratings and he doesn’t rely on sycophantic guests praising him to make him appear more popular than he is.

However, back to our visit. . . (

I had a feeling Hannity would be a pretty nice guy. However, I do admit that as a moderator of political discussions, at least those I’d seen him moderate (it’s been quite a while), he left A LOT to be desired. All too often he would stick to and hammer a point that it was clear his guest(s) were not going to answer and in fact sometimes in doing so he gave them opportunities to repeatedly spread disinformation.

I hope that since I used to watch him he has learned to be more effective at moving the conversation along because I really got tired of him simply and (I thought) somewhat childishly yammering on about the same old thing that his guest(s) refused to acknowledge or answer. It would be much more effective to just note that the guest is doing that and then move on to the next topic or question, I always thought.

UNBELIEVABLE! Gloria Allred attempting to gin up support for an arrest warrant for Rush Limbaugh due to what he said!

“Mr. Limbaugh targeted his attack on a young law student who was simply exercised her free speech…”

[And Mr. Limbaugh was simply exercising HIS right to free speech by doing so!]

“…he vilified her. He defamed her and engaged in unwarranted, tasteless and exceptionally damaging attacks on her…”

[None of which is a criminal offense, but hey, in making this statement, Ms. Allred is VILLIFYING RUSH LIMBAUGH as she engages in UNWARRANTED, TASTELESS ATTACKS on him – so maybe she needs to march down to the local precinct house and turn herself in?

A pure political stunt, no substance, obviously. Obama is DESPERATE to keep the debate from getting around to jobs, wages and the economy because there he’s subject to sudden death!

Here’s one “celebrity” I can agree with:

Former TV idol star Kirk Cameron has angered the gay community by making outrageously homophobic comments on CNN.

The Growing Pains actor told Piers Morgan that he does not support gay marriage and believes homosexuality is wrong.

“I think that it’s – it’s – it’s unnatural. I think that it’s – it’s detrimental, and ultimately destructive to so many of the foundations of civilization,” he said about homosexuality. And on the subject of gay marriage, Cameron added, “Marriage is almost as old as dirt, and it was defined in the garden between Adam and Eve. One man, one woman for life till death do you part. So I would never attempt to try to redefine marriage. And I don’t think anyone else should either. So do I support the idea of gay marriage? No, I don’t.”

Kirk Cameron told [CNN host] Piers Morgan that he does not support gay marriage and believes homosexuality is wrong.

These remarks were characterized, falsely, as “homophobic”.

Nothing he said expressed either a fear or a hatred of homosexuals.

This is how the left (and lao) attempts to change an argument from a factual, logical one to an emotional one.

Cameron expressed valid and honest opinions. He has every right to do so. By characterizing his remarks, and by extension him, as “homophobic” the left tries to stir up true anger and hatred against Cameron and by doing so engages in hate speech and attempts to intimidate and silence those like him who dare express the truth, which is that homosexuality is wrong, unnatural and detrimental to both those who engage in it and to society as a whole.

  27. Bob Roberts says:

FrankW says: March 10, 2012 at 8:13 am

First, it’s not “womyns”, it’s “womens”.

Second, Allred already looks like a moron – has for a long time – this isn’t changing that, only reinforcing it.

Third, Fluke is hardly a “poor defenseless girl from Georgetown”. She is a carefully groomed and planted activist. She didn’t enroll in Georgetown to get a quality education – she was a deliberate plant placed there to attack both the institution and it’s values.

  28. Bob Roberts says:

    OK so I’m curious.

What do we know about lao?

It’s been suggested he’s a Canadian. Based on what?

Do we have any other pseudonyms for him – have we really found other clear examples of his screeds? I saw some strong similarities in some of the writings at the site he linked the other day – but that could also be accounted for due to the fact that liberals tend to lather, rinse and repeat the same spin job talking points without adding anything new or original when they do.

If he IS Canadian, why is he bothering us here? We rarely comment on Canadian politics. I can’t remember the last time Blount posted a story involving Canada other than one involving Canadian Soros front ADBUSTERS and their involvement in the occupy nonsense.

  29. Bob Roberts says:

In a desperate attempt to save obamacare and his re-election, Obama resorts… to PRAYER?

On Wednesday, White House officials summoned dozens of leaders of nonprofit organizations that strongly back the health law to help them coordinate plans for a prayer vigil… outside the [USSC] court when justices hear arguments [for and against obamacare] for three days beginning March 26.

Seriously, what will they come up with next? Two minutes of hate? [I wonder if lao will get that reference.]

And, on to the whole “Rush” situation about his going too far and using language he shouldn’t have, then apologizing sincerely, it’s amazing how Obama shows how two-faced he is, on the one hand stepping up and commenting on Rush’s mistake yet, when asked about the even worse verbal mistakes of people like his major donor Bill Maher or Louis C.K. [aka Louis Szekely in real life] who you’ve probably never heard of but who was to host the 68th Annual Radio & Television Congressional Correspondents Dinner on June 8 – OK so you’ve really never heard of him? Well maybe you’ve heard of the things he said, which were ignored completely by the left:

Speaking of Sara Palin, he said:

“her f*** retard making c***” and “the baby that just came out of her f**** disgusting c***.”

    To Palin:

just “stick your t** in its mouth and shut up.”

Need more to convince you? Here is what he says on twitter:

“I want to rub my father’s c*** all over Sarah Palin’s fat t***”

By the way, there is more, lots more. And not a word from the left or any of those leftist groups that claim they’re the last line of defense for women. This sort of speech is just fine, ignored, when it comes from the left or is targeted at the right.

  30. Bob Roberts says:

The myth of racial/ethnic profiling You often hear the left whining about how a statistical fact (minorities – blacks, hispanics – are often over represented in jail and prison populations such that the percentage of inmates there exceeds the percentages of similar groups outside in the general population) leads to the necessary conclusion that the system is flawed and it somehow discriminates against these minorities.

Eventually though these pathetic attempts to ignore facts, truth and logic run smack dab into a brick wall of honesty:

THE anti-racial-profiling juggernaut has finally met its nemesis: the truth.

According to a new study, black drivers on the New Jersey Turnpike are twice as likely to speed as white drivers, and are even more dominant among drivers breaking 90 miles per hour. This finding demolishes the myth of racial profiling.

Which leads us to the question:

Is there a common sense reason to engage in profiling, ever?

Of course the answer is YES. It is much more likely, for instance, that a person carrying some device intended to bring a plane down will be a male between say 20 and 50 of middle eastern or African/arab/moslem origin than some other person, so if you take this into account and take a bit of a closer look at arab/middle eastern/African/moslem males you’re just making sense. Not expressing some prejudice. Not being unreasonable.

TO show that the police are stopping “too many” members of a group, you need to know, at a minimum, the rate of lawbreaking among that group (the “violator benchmark”). Only if the rate of stops or arrests greatly exceeds the rate of criminal behavior should our suspicions be raised.

But most profiling studies used only crude population measures as the benchmark— arguing, say, that if 24 percent of speeding stops on one stretch of highway were of black drivers, in a city or state whose population is 19 percent black, the police are over-stopping blacks. Such an analysis is clearly specious, since it fails to say what percentage of speeders are black— but the data needed to rebut it were not available.

According to the study commissioned by the New Jersey Attorney General (and leaked to The New York Times), blacks make up 16 percent of the drivers on the turnpike, and 25 percent of the speeders in the 65-mph zones, where profiling complaints are most common.

They speed twice as much as whites, and speed at reckless levels even more. Yet blacks are stopped less than their speeding behavior would predict— 23 percent of all stops.

The devastation wrought by this study to the anti-police agenda is catastrophic. It turns out that the police stop blacks more for speeding because they speed more. Race has nothing to do with it.

This is not a politically acceptable result. And the researchers knew it. They checked and rechecked their data. But the results always came out the same.

  31. Bob Roberts says:

The left complains about how capitalism is a failure, but it is not capitalism that is causing problems – it is socialists interfering in capitalism then blaming capitalism when THEIR interference causes a problem.

Logically, investors only invest in things that have a chance of succeeding. Government isn’t always that smart. Particularly when, despite proven lack of success time and time again, those in charge keep throwing money down toilets which already are hopelessly clogged.

And how is our investment doing? Are we making or losing money? I’d say it seems plain we’re LOSING it, wasting money on technologies that either are not close to being ready for this type of investment (I’m not giving up on them, just saying we need to fund R&D at a lower level for a while first, then when they’re ripe, ramp up investment) or, in the Obama case, giving blatant political paybacks to big donors, who promptly go out of business and waste BILLIONS after pocketing their share.

  32. Berlet98 says:

    America Is No Longer America!

Those naive souls who foolishly believe that the United States of America is still a free and independent nation, that we should be proud of who and what we are and what we have achieved, that we are one nation under God had better read the newspapers.

Thanks to America’s Left and to the United States Congress, those foolish beliefs have been undermined for decades and, since the accession to the presidency of Barack Hussein Obama on January 20th, 2009, they have been proven absurd.

A few recent instances, which have been covered by Obama’s mainstream media with its usual spin:

Obama’s Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta confirmed the reality that this administration regards American sovereignty as much a thing of the past as gasoline.

Panetta appeared before the Senate Armed Services Committee and effectively declared that the congress’ constitutional responsibility to declare war and the president’s power to wage war null and void.

In reference to calls for military intervention in the newest Islamic cesspool, Syria, Panetta said that the “goal would be to seek international permission . . . Whether or not we would want to get permission from the Congress–I think those are issues we would have to discuss as we decide what to do here.”

    “Whether or not?”

Translated: The USA would require the “permission” of the corrupt, Third World-infested United Nations before we interceded in Syria, which would supersede any constitutional provisions.

So much for independence and soverignty.

An even more telling incident demonstrating that our country isn’t what it used to be occurred at a basketball game in San Antonio, Texas.

The Alamo Heights boys’ basketball team trounced San Antonio Edison and the student crowd erupted with chants of “USA, USA, USA!”

That enthusiastic show of patriotism was condemned by the press, the coach, and by Alamo Heights’ administrators as “racist” on the sole basis that the Alamo Heights team is predominantly white and Edison is mostly hispanic and, therefore, the chant must have been racially inspired. reported the enthusiasm as a “racial incident” and district spokesperson, Lesley Price, said, “This is very disrespectful to our students. It is surprising and it’s disappointing to hear that anyone would be out there making those kind of remarks.”

Again, those disrespectful remarks were, “USA! USA! USA!” . . .

  44. lao says:

    (rolls eyes)

What made that poll interesting is that those were battleground states and it was Rasmussen polling in favor of Obama.

Rasmussen Polls Were Biased and Inaccurate

Rasmussen’s polls were quite biased, overestimating the standing of the Republican candidate by almost 4 points on average. In just 12 cases, Rasmussen’s polls overestimated the margin for the Democrat by 3 or more points. But it did so for the Republican candidate in 55 cases — that is, in more than half of the polls that it issued.

All of those liberal publications have nothing to do with Rasmussen other than their leftist take on the poll.

Rasmussen, by the way, has an impeccable record of polling and is one of the most accurate pollsters because they use the “likely voter” standard rather that “registered voters” or “all” persons.

Another stark example of the fact that crosshairs boy is an operative. He’s no casual liberal poster.

Can you tell me how to rewire an electrical panel, plumb a house, fly a plane through a midnight storm, build your kitchen cabinets, survive a gun battle with the Black Panthers, or jump from a plane at 18,000 feet…or, tell me what Kemetism, Critical Race Theory, or Black Theology is?

Of course not, because at your very core you are a small man.

Some people care, some people live…but some people – like you, try and bullshit their way through life. I said do your homework. I have not only done mine, I have lived it.

You admit to not having heard of Critical Race Theory which Festivus described. If you’re going to comment, at least check Wiki, for God’s sake. You are nothing but a phony who is a wannabee Socrates – you want to be able to win any argument from any angle. Excuse me, but a winning argument does not build respectability or character, and certainly does not guarantee survival.

Again, do you know or even care what Black Theologists believe? Is everyone supposed to be as uninformed – stupid actually – to have to lower themselves to your level of non-information to communicate with you? I said do your homework. But no! Your flippant, arrogant, know-it-all attitude responds with the juvenile attitude of a disgruntled kindegartner on the playground.

Some of my friends lost their lives fighting them and you somehow pooh-pooh around the edge of every debate and sanction the authenticity of these anti-American radicals.

I know who Bell is, I know his theology, I know his prejudices and his hatred. I suggested you find out. Why do you even open your mouth when you are so devoid of information? What is your motive? Who in the F are you?

(lao) “Apparently, we are supposed to believe that these partisans have spent some significant time informing themselves prior to spreading such unequivocal condemnation.”

Until we meet people like you – thankless people, arrogant people, people who know better than the greatest, most fair, most loving populace in the history of civilization.
