So you claim the war on terror is over? Then why are the taliban even stronger than before after Obama’s bumbling?

Biden falls short of promising perversion progress. He won’t agree to allowing same sex unions to be called marriage. As dumb as he is, even he knows man+woman does not equal man+man or woman+woman.

Biden sees the writing on the wall. He’s going to go up against an incumbent Romney, perhaps with Hillary as his VP. Or so he thinks. I suspect she’d pick a better running mate and he won’t have a chance for the top spot.

The Democrats are stupid, often, but really, letting Biden have a chance to run for President? Nobody’s that dumb – well, other than Biden.

Pretty funny that they’re just now, finally, figuring this out!

Former “NBC Nightly News” anchor Tom Brokaw said Sunday that the glitzy annual White House Correspondents’ Association dinner is damaging the perception of the press among the American public.

“It’s time to rethink that,” the longtime newsman said Sunday in an appearance on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”

He said the annual black-tie affair, which features Washington reporters and editors drinking, joking and partying with Hollywood stars and the city’s top lawmakers — including the president — is contributing to the public’s mistrust of the media.

“If there’s ever an event that separates the press from the people they’re supposed to be serving, symbolically, it is that one.” he said.

Dozens arrested by PA, but for how long? I can’t believe they’ll actually be tried, sentenced and will serve their sentences. Hopefully I’m wrong. We shall see.

    From the link:

The clampdown, the biggest launched by the PA in the West Bank, came after unidentified men shot at the home of Jenin Gov.

    Kadoura Musa last Wednesday.

Musa was not hurt in the attack. However, he died shortly afterwards of a heart attack, prompting PA President Mahmoud Abbas to order a massive security operation against “outlaws” and “criminals” in the area.

Many of those arrested are Fatah members and officers working for PA security services.

Can you imagine the scene in the office of Abbas when he said, “This is outrageous. I want you to go out and round up the usual suspects”, to which his underling replied, “But sir, WE are the usual suspects!”

The scofflaw nature of so-called “palestinians” is coming home to roost!

I think our own precocious troll served up the usual liberal lie: “But there is no evidence of voter fraud.”

    From the link:

It is an article of faith on the Left that there is no evidence of significant voter fraud. This is false; here in Minnesota, to name just one state, investigators have uncovered a large number of incidents of fraud. But a larger point also needs to be made: to the extent that not a lot of ballots are proved to be fraudulent, why is that? Obviously, when no effort is made to enforce the law, not many lawbreakers will be caught. That is basically what is going on today. Lax laws make fraud easy. Given that in Democrat-controlled states there is no effort to monitor ballot integrity, how would perpetrators ever be caught?

Most voters grasp this basic point, so evidence of laxity such as that gathered by O’Keefe is devastating to the Democrats’ position. So how do the Democrats respond? As the large majority of voters would wish, by tightening up procedures to prevent fraud? Of course not! They blame the messenger; and in New Hampshire, they may be trying to arrest the messenger.

Trying to fight for what is right is dangerous with Democrats in power.

For “green” tech, bankruptcy is the best option.

And if you think Obama’s team bumbled and fumbled at the Supreme Court, YOU AIN’T SEEN NUTTIN’ YET!

Saturday’s arraignment lasted 13 hours, including meal and prayer breaks, as the accused appeared to make a concerted effort to stall the initial hearing, which didn’t end until almost 11 p.m.

Prayer breaks? What about separation of church and state?

At least they’re getting one thing right:

They face 2,976 counts of murder and terrorism in the 2001 attacks that sent hijacked jetliners into New York’s World Trade Center and the Pentagon. The charges carry the death penalty.

“The fact that we are here today to debate raising America ‘s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the US Government cannot pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies. Increasing America ‘s debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that, “the buck stops here.’ Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better.”

Anyway, remember what Chavez said at the U.N.?

  14. Bob Roberts says:

    Worst Case Scenario:

    Obama re-elected in 2012.

Some time before he’s termed out in 2016, through voter fraud and other means, he gets control of the Congress and gets the 22nd Amendment repealed so he can run and be elected indefinitely.

  15. AC says:

The worst case scenario is the election of a RINO Republican who does not change the country’s course, continuing the spending of Obama, Pelosi, and Boehner, leading us to economic collapse, a blaming of conservatism, and the election of a Marxist strongman in 2016.

If we fail to hold a Republican victor accountable the result could be devastating. The spending has to be stopped. The only thing worse than Obamunist spending driving us to collapse is a sheepish public blaming Republicans for a collapse brought on by continuing the Obamunist spending.

  16. AC says:

To reiterate my caution: the National Socialist madman Adolf Hitler would never have been democratically elected were it not for the Weimar hyperinflation, which left the confused and economically illiterate public angry and desiring of a scapegoat.

  17. Bob Roberts says:

    And speaking of election blowouts…

You know, I knew of the more recent elections, where Reagan did so well, and even that Nixon did really well. But I didn’t realize that Eisenhower beat Stevenson so handily.

Now we know Kennedy, in collusion with the media, basically stole the election in 1960.

About the only time Democrats did as well was in the Johnson/Goldwater contest in 1964 and that, too, was due to mostly lies from the left and a willing press passing them on.

Johnson knew, once the people got to know him anyway, he didn’t stand a chance.

He declined to even bother running for a second term.

Nixon thrashed Humphrey solidly in 1968. Then Nixon’s defeat of McGovern in 1972 is legendary.

Despite Watergate and the scandalous Nixon administration, Carter still only barely managed to defeat Ford despite the fact he was essentially selected, not elected, as President.

And I already talked about both of Reagan’s legendary victories against Democrat challengers.

George H.W. Bush did rather well against Dukakis, too.

Even with Ross Perot’s help, Clinton didn’t really do all that well against Bush four years later – and in fact it was Bush’s own mistakes that probably were key to him losing.

For an incumbent, particularly one facing a real unappealing candidate, Clinton didn’t do all that well against Bob Dole in 1996.

Gore did his best to steal the 2000 election and failed.

Bush did a great job against Kerry, though due to lax voter registration and ID requirements, Kerry did well in big/powerful states like California, Michigan, Illinois, Minnesota, Wisconsin (no doubt with union collusion) and other eastern/New England states to prevent an absolute blowout even though the numbers Bush got, from a counties or square miles or states won perspective, were great.

Despite a full court press by the press against Bush, he still did fairly well, winning by a clear margin by any measure.

And despite all the voter fraud and bussing people from county to county and state to state to vote multiple times in multiple places, Obama still didn’t achieve a blowout against McCain. This despite McCain being perhaps the worst candidate to go forward, despite the baggage of the false Bush legacy, etc.

You know, the closest thing to a “blowout” (and it’s really far from that) I’ve seen by a Democrat would be Truman beating Dewey, despite polls that seemed the opposite was assured to the point that papers actually published the headline “Dewey Beats Truman” before the results were in.

I wonder if, and how much, Democrat voter fraud played in that election?

Same question for the elections of 1940 and 1944.

In fact to get a real Democrat blow out, you have to go all the way back to 1936, FDR v. Landon, or 1932, FDR v. Hoover.

Hoover, who mopped up the floors with Smith in 1928 and, likely only because of the Great Depression, failed to get re-elected in 1932.

Coolidge beat Davis pretty handily back in 1928, though I wouldn’t go so far as to call it a blowout and of course Progressive LaFollette was likely somewhat of a Perot factor, though not as significant as Perot was in Bush v. Clinton decades later.

In 1920 Harding beat Cox pretty handily.

Incumbent Wilson beat Hughes in 1916, not surprisingly. While not a blowout, by states it did look pretty ugly. In other respects, not so much.

In 1912 Wilson won, likely only due to the crowded and confusing field. I don’t know – almost qualifies as a blowout except for the fact two essentially Republican candidates split the votes which either one likely would have garnered if not for the fact they both ran. Despite Taft having the power of the incumbent, I suspect Roosevelt might have been the better man to nominate and so by not doing so the Republicans gave that one away – a lesson the obamunists may be about to learn this year, hopefully!

Taft did reasonably well against Bryan in 1908, but nothing close to a blowout.

Same with Roosevelt against Parker in 1904. Perhaps a landslide, but not a blowout.

And since this post is more than long enough, I’ll end with McKinley’s thrashing of Bryan in 1900 – a sound defeat but nothing to crow all that loudly about, I suppose, though McKinley did better, and Bryan worse, than in their first go round in 1896.

How would YOU define a landslide or a blowout in terms of:

    States won
    Electoral college votes won
    Popular vote percentages

  18. Bob Roberts says:

You know, it occurs to me that Democrats have been using scare tactics against Republicans ever since Democrat Buchanan warned, in 1856, that Republicans were extremists whose victory would lead to civil war.

Only it wasn’t the Republicans who started the war.

Then there’s McClellan, who ran against Lincoln in 1864 as the head of an anti-war party even though he didn’t agree with that sentiment.

About as logical as the Nobel people giving Obama a peace prize before he took office, only to have him start more wars than several of his predecessors combined.

  19. Sam Adams says:

Incumbent Wilson beat Hughes in 1916, not surprisingly. While not a blowout, by states it did look pretty ugly. In other respects, not so much.

Wilson won by promising to keep our boys out of the war in Europe.

Adbusters’ mission statement says that you want to change “the way meaning is produced.” What does that mean?

At the moment, meaning is produced by a commercialized mass media that is mixing communications with commercialism and mind-fucking us all and not giving us the information we need to make wise decisions about the future. The political Left has been pretty lousy at creating that kind of deep-down meaning, of having narratives that inspire young people. The future is a meme war and the winners will be the people who know how to create the meaning.

I haven’t heard say President Obama is targeting women’s health, that the Democrats are targeting women’s health five months ago. COOPER: Yes or no? Does that target women when President Obama wants to take billions of dollars out of this?
RUBEN: We’ve run ads against President Obama. But the fact is if you want to look at who is consistently targeting women, who is — you know, who’s the party that’s trying to eliminate funding for Planned Parenthood, who is the party that has consistently been trying to cut funding for cervical cancer and Pap smears? That’s the Republicans.

And we’re going to call that out. And of course they’re going to try to dodge and get away from that. But the fact is, it’s true. There are over $200 million of 2013 funding that they are zeroing out.

RUBEN: And the bottom line is this is — we shouldn’t be having this conversation. Why are we having a conversation — look, you have student loan rates –

COOPER: Because my job is to report on facts. Not to meet your agenda. And when President Obama suggests in his 2012 budget cutting billions of dollars from this, I don’t see a ad saying President Obama is attacking women. You only seem to be targeting Republicans because that meets your political agenda.

    RUBEN: I just — I just don’t think that’s true. I mean look –

COOPER: So when President Obama wants to cut money from this, that’s not targeting women?
RUBEN: When President Obama is taking billions of dollars out of this, that’s wrong and will have a disproportionate effect on women.

    COOPER: So he’s targeting women.

Let’s see – 35,000 divided by 2 equals less than 17,500. Like I said, 14,000+ is the figure acknowledged.

Note how the troll lies and thinks he will get away with it!

AFTER I made my comment about his use of carefully planned, tight shots which avoided showing all the empty seats at the Obama rally, AFTER I pointed out he went back months to find a Romney rally where the crowd was not very big, which was TRUE, he LATER posted a link to a campaign event held in a PRIVATE FACTORY, not a PUBLIC ARENA, as if that is a fair comparison to Obama’s rally.

He’s really lying overtime, which is why I’ve pointed out I’ve switched sides from being one who was in favor of keeping him around to one who thinks he’s more just a distraction and a lying pain in the A$$ these days.

I suspect if you check on where the Mitt Romney Campaign Rally in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on May 4 2012 actually was, you’ll find it was probably a capacity crowd, standing room only.

The fact remains that Obama scheduled a campaign kickoff rally and failed to fill the house, failed to get even half of the people the campaign bragged were going to show up. Now it’s not my fault, nor is it the fire marshal’s fault, that the campaign rally lied and gave a number that was apparently 50% or more over the capacity of the venue THEY CHOSE. Perhaps they chose such a limited venue because they knew, in fact, that the crowd was going to be much smaller than they claimed and even their modest true beliefs were a significant overestimate, as images from honest people proved.

In any case, this isn’t about Romney, though the troll wishes to distract us from the real message here. That message is that the general public is onto Obama and his ilk this time around and it’s going to take even more massive voter fraud than last time to get him re-elected.

That is pure speculation on your part. If you look closely at the photo, you will see people clapping with their attention fixed in the direction of the stage. It doesn’t look as though it was take before the start of the rally.

I assume that the seats were more full at the other end wof the venue where the stage was located.

A lady called Rush today who lives near the university and said that the Obama campaign spent at least a week going door to door to find people to attend the event. Sounds desperate to me.
A while back I was up at Venice Beach because someone I knew that was visiting from somewhere else wanted to see the area. I cautioned them that it was not the place it had been – now it’s mostly drug users looking for drug dealers and a bunch of tourist traps and “medical marijuana clinics”.

Anyway, while we were there for about a 30 minute time period at most, three “producers” (that’s what they claimed) for the Bill Maher show came up and literally begged us to come attend the next taping. Seems they were reduced to trolling the addicts to get their audience rounded out.

I suspect that the Obama people also bussed in union and other folks to try to fill up the arena. Now if reports are correct it held between 18k and 20k and the crowd was between 14k and 15k while the Obama campaign had been bragging that 35k had promised to attend.

I suspect the counting was inflated, as it usually is, at leftist events.

As for the photos, I noticed they were always chosen at peculiar angles and there was no wide angle shot showing a whole 1/2 of the venue at once, suggesting that the Obama people had everyone move to fill in and make it appear to be a packed house when we know it was not. Whether or not the “largely empty” statement is valid or not we cannot say for sure – the images provided suggest that is the case BUT at least one of them could well have been taken before the event began, although not much before from the look of things.

    What we do know is:

    1) The obamunists apparently lied about the number that was going to show up, because they clearly didn’t.
    2) the obamunists tried to make it look like a full house when it clearly wasn’t.
    3) Our troll is in full damage control mode trying to spread that myth – the fact someone was taking the pictures he’s posted suggests they knew some would be criticizing Obama for not being able to pack the house and so they picked their angles and used creative framing to make it appear otherwise.

You will note in pictures at the links the troll posted that they would take a picture, then pan the camera a degree or two, hardly changing the area within frame, then take another. Why would they do that if the arena was full? I know when I do that sort of work I do a FULL PAN. Further, on the linked video the troll provided it was clear the camera operator was being careful not to show the upper deck, which we know by other photos provided was largely empty.

I wouldn’t put it past the obamunists to have actually moved the crowd from section to section so they could take pictures to suggest there was a full house when there was not, which is what they apparently tried, and failed, to do.

So both sides are stretching the truth, at worst.

Doesn’t matter – the important fact is the obamunists, and our troll, were caught in yet another lie.

  68. lao says:

I got to wondering if there had been a significant impact on crime in the area, and in particular in the gated community (The Retreat at Twin Lakes) and so I set out to find out.

Using a website that provides crime data for the area, I selected a time period from 20111109 to today. I selected an area centered on the gated community with a radius of .5 mile. Here are the results I obtained, with “the incident” being that involving Martin and Zimmerman:

    Before the incident, there were:

Six burglaries, three within the gated complex and three close by but outside it.
Two vehicle break ins, both nearby, outside the gated community, one of these at a nearby business.
Six acts of vandalism, one inside the gated community, the others nearby, outside the gated community.
Three thefts from a nearby business.
Two thefts from a residence inside the gated community.

February 26, 2012: Zimmerman follows Martin, Martin attacks Zimmerman, Zimmerman shoots Martin in self-defense.

    After the incident, there were:
Three thefts from a nearby business.
A single vandalism nearby, outside the gated community, at a school.
A single burglary nearby, outside the gated community.
A single vehicle break in – nearby, outside the gated community.
ZERO incidents of theft from a residence.

It appears the involuntary retirement of St. Skittles had a significant effect on crime in the gated community and within a .5 mile radius around it.

Caught the troll in another lie.

There are TWO photos that have been linked.

One may well be before the event, which shows a great number of empty seats over a large area of the venue.

The other is a tighter shot and, using the troll’s logic, shows the event while it’s “in progress” – his test for this was that the crawl was displaying the Obama/Biden 2012 logo. In it you can see a good section of the upper deck is completely empty.

Now it’s unfortunate that NOBODY seems to have caught and shared better pictures. I think more may eventually be forthcoming. But what we can tell based on what we do see is the obamunists did certainly ‘herd’ the people that showed up so that the place would appear to be packed, when it clearly was not.

THAT is the story here, not some nonsense about some months ago Romney event or some small recent Romney event where there was never a plan to invite thousands.

All that is attempts to distract us from the facts – Obama is going down.

Caught the troll in yet ANOTHER LIE:

lao says: May 7, 2012 at 3:20 pm
If you watch at about :35 in the video, the camera person, who had been doing a great job of keeping the camera from straying to the upper level, slipped. As they pan to the upper level, freeze the video. Note that, at the right side of the frame, THE SECTIONS OF THE UPPER DECK ON THE RIGHT ARE COMPLETELY EMPTY! Not right behind Obama nor the first section just to the right (and left, perhaps) of center, but beyond those IT APPEARS LIKELY, FROM THE VIDEO THE TROLL LINKED, THAT THE UPPER DECK WAS EMPTY! This mistake was repeated at about :50 in the video where, as the camera comes around to the left side, just before the camera operator panned down, you see the crowd ends after one section on the left side on the upper deck. The mistake is repeated at about :56 also, showing the UPPER DECK IS EMPTY BEYOND MAYBE 1 SECTION PAST THE CURVE ON THE END WITH THE STAGE ON BOTH SIDES OF THE VENUE! Note when the camera pans back to the right at 1:03 the operator attempts to keep the view below the crawl, which divides the lower and upper sections, but again you get some quick glimpses that show THAT THE UPPER DECK WAS MOSTLY EMPTY JUST AS THE TWO LINKED PHOTOS WE PROVIDED SHOWED!

This suggests that the venue was in fact much more empty than claimed – likely had something just over 50% capacity so that means around perhaps 10,000 at most – an admittedly rough estimate based on crude estimates of what the floor, the lower section and the upper sections would likely hold based on this video and the pictures the troll provided.

That’s worth breaking the “Kick the Troll” rule and telling him, directly, “GOOD JOB PROVING WHAT A LIAR YOU & THE OBAMUNISTS ARE!”

  76. Bob Roberts says:

  80. lao says:

    Ooops…TEXT is a dead link.

  81. Bob Roberts says:

What do you know, I spoke too soon!

Here’s his linked video from the next open thread, May 6

If you watch it, here’s what you see:

First, the camera person, for the most part, tries to carefully avoid going to the upper deck EXCEPT JUST BEHIND AND JUST TO THE RIGHT AND LEFT OF THE STAGE AREA!

But they slip up. Watch carefully – four times, two on the right and two on the left, they slip up and show THAT THE UPPER DECK IS IN FACT MOSTLY EMPTY JUST AS THE PICTURES PROVIDED BY ROMNEY SUPPORTERS SAID!

Now as for the two videos linked above in the 12:24 post, here’s the scoop:

    “Ready to Go”

This video is taken, apparently by the same person (based on the description given in the video provided on the open thread, that one I linked above) and they are in the lower section, behind the band. Note how they keep the camera carefully aimed so it doesn’t show the upper deck. You can just barely see the crawl at top of frame. This is because, no doubt, THE UPPER DECK IS EMPTY ABOVE THE CRAWL FROM THIS ANGLE!

BUT WAIT, STARTING AT :43 IN THE VIDEO THEY START SLIPPING AND SHOWING THAT IN FACT THE UPPER DECK IS INDEED EMPTY FOR MOST OF IT’S EXPANSE! JUST LIKE THE ROMNEY PICTURES SHOWED! You can see this again at 2:45 into this video. They slip up again at about 5:48 and again at around the time Obama is seen leaving the stage to his right. So the troll can’t claim this was “before the rally began”!

So that’s TWO videos the troll provided that prove what a liar he is. Let’s see if there is another one, shall we?

Here is the other video the troll provided on the other thread at 12:34:

Again, the troll provided yet another video that PROVES HE AND THE OBAMUNISTS ARE LIARS and the venue was in fact significantly, perhaps even mostly, empty based on the obamunists claims they expected 35k to show up in a venue that held less than 20k and even so they wound up with a ton of empty seats and claim they had an attendance of around 14 or 15k when the videos provided by the troll suggest it was perhaps more like 10k.

  82. Bob Roberts says:

lao says: May 7, 2012 at 3:57 pm
I think the troll doesn’t bother to check his own sources!

If he had, he would have seen that one of the videos he linked at 3:57 CLEARLY SHOWS MUCH OF THE UPPER DECK EMPTY, while the other attempts to hide this fact but fails, just like the first one.

    Flail away, o troll!

And now note he’s trying to change the subject, badly beaten and proven as the liar we already knew he was!

We’re not talking about the Virginia rally, troll. You can all you want, but we’re talking about your lies and their lies about the first one in Ohio.

Blount didn’t say the Virginia one had a lot of empty seats, he said the Ohio one did.

Now if you want to admit you’re wrong and apologize to us, maybe we’ll go on and talk about the Virginia rally, but not before!

NOTE the references are reversed in my post at 4:15. Where I talk about the 12:34 post and video, that’s above. Where I talk about the other two videos posted at 12:24, that was on the original thread. Here he posted them (assuming they’re the same videos) at 3:57… what was that he was saying about redundant, lying posts?

  83. Bob Roberts says:

As I’ve noted, it’s pointless to bother to talk to the troll, so unless he actually comes up with something worth addressing directly to him, I’m going back to the “Kick the Troll” rule now – I broke it only because I really didn’t give him the beating he deserved this past Saturday and he really offered some tempting low hanging fruit, seeing as his own video links proved him so conclusively wrong.

  84. Bob Roberts says:

Let us conclude with this first:

Troll: Provided three videos that prove conclusively that Blount was correct to point out the significant lack of attendance at the Obama kickoff rally in Ohio. Particularly the last one, where the camera person (unlike in the other two) didn’t deliberately avoid showing the empty upper deck but rather showed it quite clearly.

The troll’s videos have proven the photos (plural, because DESPITE HIS LIES, THERE WAS NOT ONLY ONE) linked here and on the original thread showed the upper deck was for the most part empty during the rally.

SO, for all his childish talk about mendacity with no relation to reality and Kool-Aid, it appears he was actually talking ABOUT HIMSELF!

  85. Bob Roberts says:

    Schottenstein Center, OSU

The obamunists used the “end stage” configuration.

It appears the upper deck was empty from about section 307 to about section 321.

That being the case, it is quite possible my estimate of a crowd of 10,000 was generous!

See the other videos generously provided by the troll to confirm this is the case and perhaps additional sections beyond those I named were also empty!

If you’re really slick you can figure out, as I have, where each of the videos the troll linked were shot from, assuming the seating chart provided really is how the obamunists set the gig up. Actually, I just realized you can figure that out too, if you notice how.

  86. lao says:

It has been acknowledged from the beginning that there were about 14,000 people in the 18,000 seat arena so that’s over three-quarters full.

bobby is gleeful that he spotted some empty seats in a three-quarters full arena. Well duh!! By my math there were probably 4,000 empty seats.

From this bobby concludes @4:15: “the venue was significantly, perhaps even mostly empty”.

    Thanks bobby, I’m still laughing.

  87. Bob Roberts says:

I did leave this out on this thread:

Bob Roberts says: May 7, 2012 at 4:14 pm
I meant to say “largely” not “mostly”, my bad. “Mostly” is clearly not appropriate though it appears, thanks to the irrefutable evidence provided by the troll, that it is possible “largely” was in fact appropriate!

  88. Festivus says:

I’ll repeat for you, lao, since you seem to want to persist in this myth that the venue was only 4,000 less than capacity. The capacity for a basketball game is 18,800 but with the stage end configuration it is much more since attendees can stand on the venue’s floor. It’s probably more like 25-30K in this configuration.

  89. Bob Roberts says:

Festivus says: May 7, 2012 at 4:57 pm
I’m stuck on a project for a moment while some heavy computations finish so…

Remember, it’s likely the numbers reported by the Obama camp are also significantly inflated. Note that the upper deck holds a significant portion of the crowd in capacity events.

    Typically the left over-reports participation.

Plus you know they bussed in people from all over for this event.

  90. lao says:

And the point of all this quibbling about bums in seats is what exactly? Oh right, that there’s no demonstrable enthusiasm for Obama.

Look at the videos again, and pardon me if I laugh.

  91. Festivus says:

Bob Roberts says: May 7, 2012 at 5:08 pm

I’ve seen media outlets quote 14K (not that there’s much difference between the DNC and the MSM).

During the run up to the mid-terms in 2010, BO and the FLOTUS had a rally on the same campus and there were an estimated 35,000 in attendance (I don’t think it was the same venue).

So, he is well off the pace of old.

  92. Bob Roberts says:

“All this quibbling” is just the troll begging to be proven a liar again and again. He put his foot in the trap by taking issue, on the earlier thread, with Blount’s use of a single word which, at first, even I thought may have been a slight exaggeration but, THANKS TO THE VIDEOS PROVIDED BY THE TROLL , it appears that the word Blount used was wholly appropriate!

We never said there was “no demonstrable enthusiasm” for Obama – note how he tries to change the argument once he loses it.

The argument was whether or not there were many empty seats. The argument was your now proven FALSE claim about the upper deck of the arena being mostly empty as was shown in the MULTIPLE photos linked here and on the other thread.

The more you lie, troll, the more you trip yourself up.

The sooner you stop the sooner we won’t be able to beat you with your own lies.

  93. Festivus says:

I’d say a reduction from 35K to 14K demonstrates that enthusiasm is waning. lol

  94. Bob Roberts says:

Festivus says: May 7, 2012 at 5:25 pm
Obviously the enthusiasm has waned greatly from 2008. But note the troll is, as usual, moving the goalposts. Never able to admit that he lied, never able to admit he was wrong, never able to admit he gave us the very proof of both of those previous conclusions, now he’s trying to change the argument from “the venue had a lot of empty seats/the photos posted were accurate in showing that/the pictures posted by the troll and the videos were mostly attempts to lie and claim otherwise” to “there was still a lot of enthusiasm”.

I suspect that even with the worst president ever there would still be “a lot of enthusiasm” when he showed up for a visit – oh, wait, HE JUST DID at OSU!

  95. lao says:

bobby sez: We never said there was “no demonstrable enthusiasm” for Obama

blunt’s words, in the thread devoted to this topic were Those in attendance responded to his monotonous duckspeak by picking their noses, fooling around on their smart phones, and yawning:

Do the videos demonstrate that? ‘Fraid not.

Re attendance, blunt said: …launched his reelection campaign at a largely empty arena…

@4:15 bobby said: … the venue was in fact significantly, perhaps even mostly, empty…

@4:57 he backtracks and says: I meant to say “largely” not “mostly”, my bad. “Mostly” is clearly not appropriate though it appears, thanks to the irrefutable evidence provided by the troll, that it is possible “largely” was in fact appropriate!

So that means bobby’s former statement is now revised to: … the venue was in fact significantly, perhaps even largely, empty…

    I’m still laughing.

  96. lao says:

Come October do you suppose people will be more or less excited two weeks before the election?

Do you think the Administration was satisfied with this turnout?

The answer is: they were embarrassed by it – it was a flop.

  100. Bob Roberts says:

lao says: May 7, 2012 at 5:42 pm
Of course, the troll ignores two facts:

ON the original thread I posted the correcting quite quickly after realizing I had used the wrong word.

Plus his own evidence of many more empty seats than even the TWO (when he keeps insisting, another lie, that it was only one) photos show were there that day, which is what prompted me to change my position and agree with Blount’s original statement. There was in fact a HUGE gap of unfilled seats, something the troll’s own videos show clearly, yet he still argues as if it was not true.

Why is he still allowed to post here again?

  101. lao says:

Well bobby, that’s easy, because your revised statement that the venue was in fact significantly, perhaps even largely, empty… is hilariously false.

  102. lao says:

If you want a picture of a venue that was in fact significantly empty, look no further than the venue at the start of the video linked @9:45 am this morning.

  103. Bob Roberts says:

The troll’s own videos show that the venue was in fact significantly empty. Largely, also, if you note that most of the upper deck was in fact empty and that’s where a large part of any capacity crowd ends up seated.

I stand by my earlier claims that the Obama administration likely doubled the actual attendance numbers and it may well be that they struggled to get 7-8k there despite a no doubt massive effort to do so.

Their attempts to make it appear to be a capacity crowd by stage managing where they sat and by directing video records to stay away from the mostly vacant upper levels are what is hilarious.

  104. Bob Roberts says:

But what is most hilarious is the troll’s attempts to deny reality – the upper deck was in fact largely empty! This means, based on the relative capacity of the various areas, that Blounts original statement was either not much of an exaggeration or was in fact true.

    Which was the real argument.

Not content with shooting off one foot, the troll, realizing he had provided the evidence that utterly destroyed his first argument, then tried to move the goal posts and suggested that the videos disproved any claim of “lack of enthusiasm” – a claim MADE BY LEFTIST SOURCES SUCH AS THE NYT FIRST and still just as true as when THEY first uttered it. The videos PROVE IT because they show, despite their efforts not to do so, that Obama has lost his base – they no longer turn out as if he was the newest, biggest rock star – he can’t even fill a venue of less than 20k seats!

And, of course, now that he’s hobbling around on two ankles, having shot off both is feet, he just has to come back for more.

I already pointed out to him that this discussion was not about Romney, it was about Obama. His pitiful attempts to change the subject to a months’ old Romney rally, or a more recent one in a small venue that was probably SRO, are beyond hilarious!

  105. Bob Roberts says:

Anyway, his whining is, as usual, well beyond the point of being tedious and has moved firmly into the category of annoying.

Now I’m going beyond voting he be banned, I’m requesting it.

  106. lao says:

  108. Bob Roberts says:

StanInTexas says: May 8, 2012 at 7:29 am
The thread already rolled off the top page and, even though he’s the first to whine about people posting on threads that are gone from the top page, no doubt he will very likely continue to post here. Or, just to prove me wrong, perhaps he won’t this time. I really don’t care.

His attempts to mock or laugh at me are inept and impotent. He’s like a harmless gnat on an elephant – other than a slight annoyance once in a while, he really has no significant effect.

I do love how he provided the evidence that refuted his claims, though.

The basis of me switching from wanting to keep him around as an example of everything that’s wrong with the left to suggesting he be banned is simple:

He’s gone so far into lunatic land that there’s really no point. At least, before, he would make a semblance of an argument at first, then wouldn’t turn right around and provide the evidence with which his arguments were easily refuted. Now he’s just coming off as at least inept and likely insane.

The troll has no needles except the ones he’s driven through his own eyes and ears, perhaps, and those have rusted away and are useless.

  109. Bob Roberts says:

Anyway, to sum up, hopefully for the last time, the troll (on a later thread) is claiming we’re in agreement now and so here’s what I said that he, apparently, calls “agreement”:

He lied about how many empty seats there were.

The obamunists likely lied too – the troll’s own videos suggest the attendance was somewhere between 7k and 10k, much lower than they claim.

They also claimed that the crowd would be so big (35k) that they would have to turn people away at the doors – which is part of why they were so desperate to avoid anyone seeing all the empty seats.

Plus this is also a great example of how the previous exuberance for Obama has faded significantly.

The troll says we agree and that’s what I say, so apparently that’s his way of admitting what a liar he was, that Blount was right all along and that Obama is now officially the loser we all knew he was in 2008.
