The gun/ammo shortage has already begun. If you need anything then get it now while you still can.

If you don’t own a gun yet then you need to buy one (at least) this week.

Shelves are emptying and my usual online sources are already backordered/out.

I nominate Jared Taylor for GOP White Outreach Chairman.

The thought of secession never crossed my mind until Obamacare passed. Now, that thought is even stronger with what happened on election day. We have an entitlement society now, with the takers basically outnumbering the producers at the ballot box. We have a media that is biased beyond belief. There are record numbers on food stamps and disability with the numbers only going higher. The basic principles of “God and country” are being replaced with secularism and multiculturism. My country is almost unrecognizable to me now. I want my country back.

  6. Sam Adams says:

The democrat party supported slavery in the 18th and 19th centuries. Today, they still support slavery, this time through the continuation of the progressive income tax system. (Isn’t it ironic that Russia and many other former soviet states have a flat, rather than a progressive income tax?)

Democrats wish to enslave the rich to benefit the poor. Their whole premise is that the most productive people should work for the benefit of the least productive.

Although you can make the tax rates as high as you want, there is no guarantee that anyone will be left to pay those rates.

  7. Sam Adams says:

I’m still waiting for Jill or other liberal moonbats to explain the following to me:

Jill (or any other Obama voter who happens to come along)…because you are real smart, maybe you can explain another thing to me.

In order to stop people from smoking, after all the warnings and advertisements don’t get the job done, what do we do?

If you said, raise tobacco taxes, you would be correct. What is the theory behind raising taxes on tobacco? Isn’t it that higher taxes will influence human behavior…higher taxes will persuade fewer people to use tobacco.

So, what effect do higher taxes have upon the most productive workers?

  8. Sam Adams says:

“If ye love wealth better than liberty,
    the tranquility of servitude
better than the animating contest of freedom,
go home from us in peace.
We ask not your counsels or your arms.
Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you.
May your chains set lightly upon you,
and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.”

    My Namesake…

Maybe we should put it in modern day terms:

“If ye love ObamaPhones and free contraceptives better than liberty,
receiving 99 weeks of unemployment insurance, and EPT card, and a “social contract”
better than the challenge and victory of finding your own job and earning your own money to spend as you wish,
go home from us in peace.
We ask not your counsels or your arms.
Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you.
May your chains set lightly upon you,
and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.”

  9. Sam Adams says:

    Another Sam Adams quote:
No people will tamely surrender their Liberties, nor can any be easily subdued, when knowledge is diffused and Virtue is preserved. On the Contrary, when People are universally ignorant, and debauched in their Manners, they will sink under their own weight without the Aid of foreign Invaders.

Our public schools have worked their magic for our leftist leaders.

  10. Sam Adams says:

Here’s another one you might like:
The liberties of our country, the freedom of our civil Constitution, are worth defending at all hazards; and it is our duty to defend them against all attacks. We have received them as a fair inheritance from our worthy ancestors: they purchased them for us with toil and danger and expense of treasure and blood, and transmitted them to us with care and diligence. It will bring an everlasting mark of infamy on the present generation, enlightened as it is, if we should suffer them to be wrested from us by violence without a struggle, or to be cheated out of them by the artifices of false and designing men.

  11. Sam Adams says:

If men, through fear, fraud, or mistake, should in terms renounce or give up any natural right, the eternal law of reason and the grand end of society would absolutely vacate such renunciation. The right to freedom being the gift of Almighty God, it is not in the power of man to alienate this gift and voluntarily become a slave.

Resistance is not futile. I will not comply with the dictates of an overreaching central government.

  21. Alphamail says:

    1) The ghosts of Saul Alinsky and devils of Cloward-Piven

Let’s begin with the premise that 90% of Americans and half of conservative voters (my guess), have no clue who these people are.

That small premise was the large hope of the elite, of the effete liberal establishment.

Hillary Clinton wrote her college thesis and was a friend of Marxist Alinsky, the most infamous of all community organizers. Also friends of his – at least as students and card-carrying believers – were hundreds of the 60’s and 70’s Students for a Democratic Society members who managed to bomb over forty American institutions and declare war on America.

Scores of these 60’s radicals went into academia and politics, with many ending up serving and assisting our current president both formally as well as intimately. It’s not that a small cadre of past radicals aided Obama, it’s that they brought with them Alinsky’s philosophy.

As well-read conservatives fully comprehend, Alinsky advised and taught progressive thinkers to lie, cheat, and steal – that ends justify the means – and they should divide and disgrace their opponents.

In a naïve world of relatively uninformed, unknowing, do-gooder conservative Christian voters – who often refuse to even participate in negative advertising, and la-la left-wing loonies who are gazing upon their Messiah – this tactic by progressives automatically ceded the high-ground to their own avarice and cunning.

What the media obliquely called negative advertising, was really Obama playing the unwary conservatives like a fiddle in an Alinsky musical rendition of “Sixteen Tons.”

As the election confirmed, Obama is a consummate liar and Chief Divider.

Cloward and Piven (do your research) simply advocated “information overload.”

Much like an electrical circuit – too many lights will blow the breaker – Cloward and Piven advocated overloading the political process to the degree that too much information would overwhelm the ability of lawmakers, the media, and the public to keep tabs on the flow.

They were right. Skilled politicians like David Axelrod, Rahm Emanuel, Eric Holder, and Valerie Jarrett – all well-versed in this strategy – knowingly kept an excessive and unmanageable flow of bills, appointments, czars, reams of legislation, tomes of legalese and lawsuits, etc., so as to keep timely scrutiny of the Obama administration’s activities, at bay.

Life doesn’t always seem fair, and elections are proof. When the opposition hits you below the belt enough times, sometimes you just have to lay a good one on the groin and take their breath away. But the conservatives just didn’t have the cajones.

    2) The obscenely permissive and omissive news media.

Rather than focus on the usual suspects like the New York Times or MSNBC, I’ll simply point out the thought crimes my local Seattle Times resorted to this campaign and election season. I’ll leave it to you to extrapolate to different degrees of guilt, the unethical – and immoral – practices of your own local tabloids.

The western side of Washington State where I was born, borders the Pacific and includes Seattle, Tacoma, and the capital Olympia, and is filled with glorious landscape and equally gracious people. Maybe too gracious for their own good since the 50/50 conservative/liberal area is controlled by uber-liberal politics and influenced by the liberal academe downtown campus of the University of Washington.

The oxymoronic gay-marriage bill and marijuana legalization both passed during this election cycle, and gambling casinos seem to be popping up like mushrooms on country cow pies and are as ubiquitous as Seattle’s gazillion espresso stands…..all reasons for my recent move to the eastern more conservative mentally-stable side of the state.

To the point, finding ANY stories during the long Fast and Furious fiasco, or finding any mention of the Benghazi debacle in the Seattle Times was futile and frustrating – all crimes against our First Amendment rights in this age of information by so-called keepers of the public trust.

Unable to locate nationally critical or internationally crucial news stories, and finding only glowing reports of Obama and the first lady, readers were made to suffer editorial picture after editorial picture of one of the Time’s editors snuggling up to his bosom and backdoor buddy, to further the promotion of the gay-marriage initiative.

Projectile vomiting after eating red hot chili would be preferable to the self-ingratiating, shamefully biased, and cartoonish polemics perpetrated on their readers by the Times editors.

Emails to the Times editorial staff and national news editors regarding any information at all on F & F and Benghazi brought snarky remarks, excuses that hateful conservative talk shows were spewing propaganda, and ultimately silence. All this from a newspaper purportedly renowned for investigative reporting.

The Washington State maximum security prison is located on the eastern side of the state, and houses the worst criminals in the state – like the Green River killer – in its facility in a small town called Walla Walla.

There is no difference between the editorial staff of the Seattle Times and many inmates in that state prison – the Times has de facto lied under oath, they have broken their moral contract by withholding information, they have stolen our right to know, and they have fled from their responsibility.

By proxy, through deception and denial, they have committed election fraud.

    3) Voter fraud

Now that results show Romney losing the 2012 election, a wave of supporters who say they reluctantly supported him, now backtrack and say they should not have done so.

Well excuse the sh*t out of me.

In my personal opinion, Romney won in decisive fashion and all of you doubting Thomas’ were absolutely correct in supporting him, and by all accounts he should be leading our nation to an energy independent future beginning in January.

    Unfortunately, criminals figured otherwise.

To now second-guess and cry for the need for conservatives to regroup is unnecessary folly and is to doubt your pre-election unity and wisdom.

So, by the way, is running like rabbits for the bushes, or even worse, calling for secession and fully accepting Obama’s plan to divide and conquer us.

    Look at some election comments:

Obama won in every state without voter-ID laws. Curiously curious?

Obama won in every state with the highest unemployment rate. Who needs change when the government is covering your ass and giving you everything from phones, to food, to housing, to lotto tickets and booze (with EBT’s, at nearly all consenting markets – under consumer penalty if denied).

Voting machines were said to have been registering for Obama in far too many areas of the country, when the machines were said to have been punched for Romney.

Conservative election officials were said to have been driven away from precincts by DNC personnel and democrat party workers at a multitude of polling places around the country.

St. Lucie County, Florida – Lt. Col. Alan West’s district – was reported to have a 141.9% voter response in relation to its registered voters.

Obama won 108% of votes in Ohio.

A review of voter registration data for ten counties in Colorado details a pattern of voter bloat inflating registration rolls to numbers larger than the total voting age population. ..Using publicly available voter data and comparing it to U.S. Census records, reveals the ten counties having a total registration ranging between 104 to 140 percent of the respective populations.

The pattern continues with a vast number of precincts around the country showing previously unheard tallies of 100% votes for the democrat incumbent, with others reporting 120% or higher votes compared to the number of registered voters.

At late stages of the campaign, Obama was drawing mediocre crowds in a stark contrast to his presidential status and Redeemer aura, while Romney was filling large stadiums with enthusiastic crowds.

In 13 Philadelphia wards, Obama received 99 percent of the vote or more.

Consider also, the liberal MSM was reporting in the remaining days of the campaign that conservatives had the constituent energy advantage and the Obama supporters had the blahs.

So what do we make of it and what do we do?

The problem is, Obama has already laid his Alinsky groundwork to discredit conservatives as liars who hate the poor, as the rich who live to steal other people’s money, and as racist old white men who hate black people, and of course he has the media to perpetuate the lies.

It didn’t help that rich Hollywood stars and prominent wealthy liberals exuberantly offered to give back more of their personal wealth – when they hadn’t had to do it yet, and the chance of them ever doing so, pending the election outcome, was only 50/50.

And it didn’t help that conservatives didn’t distance themselves from the sky-is-falling race war advocates like Sweep the leg and YES WE CON and their internet comrades, because not doing so gave particular credence to the left’s accusations that the right was racist and wanted blacks “in chains.” A simple click by a liberal organization to this or any other conservative website exposed a plethora of comments by white supremacy advocates, and those comments were displayed as examples of hate on liberal sites. That definitely hurt our cause, and is a classic example of cutting off your nose to spite your face – and it arrogantly continues on this very scroll today.

And it didn’t help that Romney brushed off Latinos by saying he would send them back en masse to Mexico, without having a border summit with all the southern border-state governors and conservative Latino leaders, to form guarantees with doubting Mexicans, that if they were to be sent back that they would have lawful guarantees that they could someday come back legally in the future and become citizens. The guarantees would be backed up by further promises that a complete border fence would be completed within 24 months, and immigration across the southern border would necessarily be frozen for at least three years, or another indeterminate time.

Like it or not, the day Romney refused to discuss any movement toward solving one of the nation’s largest problems – a show of good faith, NOT amnesty – is the same afternoon Obama was given at least a 10 point swing.

    4) Television

If you think EBT cards, free cell phones, or meth are addictive, you need to consider the damaging effects of TV.

Openly gay writers and producers have worked overtime for well more than a decade to rewrite the Hollywood narrative as it pertains to the family. A viscerally revolting picture of normalcy is scripted daily and fed to the unwary public by a group of deviants who represent about 2% of the US population. Couple that with the modern fact that nowadays many families get their basic daily news via the television, after working all day and resting lazily after dinner in front of the tube.

Television has become the showcase for the LGBT and has managed to portray itself as mainstream, in many cases addressing those who disagree with its agenda as homophobic, outdated, and even abnormal, and the message is conveyed to the viewer through humor – at least for now.

It’s no wonder homosexuality and gay-marriage are slowly gaining ground as acceptable behavior, and normal individuals are labeled bigots, and why the younger generation is beginning to feel the conservative party is old and stodgy, and why they see Obama as an understanding voice who warrants their vote.

If it’s on TV, it’s generally programmed in more ways than one.

Then we have sports on TV.

As a sports participant most of my life I have still failed to see the obsession with watching unfamiliar players on teams from an unknown school in a distant state, play against other out of state unknown players in a meaningless battle on a soggy field in the rain, when an issue of national significance or even survival may be playing out on a distant battlefield or nearby city street.

Makes one wonder if 9/11 had happened on a weekend instead of a Tuesday, would all those football zealots have even noticed?

In other words, Americans are distracted and complacent.

Support your local highschool or coolege sports team instead.

The jury is still out on why Romney lost, but those are my reasons.

Some will say voters voted for free government stuff, they voted for amnesty, they voted for or against racism, they voted against religion and for abortion, or some crazies even voted for fiscal responsibility, solid defense, and individual freedom.

Truth is, voters were lied to, deceived, tricked, cheated, and used.

  27. facebkwallflower says:

@AlphaMail — uh, if you watched the debates and read the transcripts of all of Mitt’s speeches and discussions on illegal immigration you would know he NEVER wanted to send them back. You are forming your opinions based on what others want you to think he said and believes. If illegals were no longer given, as a reward for just arriving in this country the wrong way, education for their children FREE, medical care for themselves and children FREE, social security benefits FREE, food stamps and free phones FREE, and ads by Obama on Mexican tv shown in Mexico, on how to get these things and how to apply, then they would not be inspired to come here illegally and those here illegally (sometimes for twenty years and never tried to make it right and become a citizen)would create their own attrition. They would not stay. No one would have to bus them back or round them up. Or, they may go back HOME and even try to come back the legal route. This is a far cry from what you say Romney wants. There is no shame in not providing all these benefits to people who just demand it. Judge a man by the content of their character, not by the color of their skin (or country origin). It is low character to sneak into someone’s home (our country) and steal from you (and yes, it is stealing) and expect you to go into debt to come up with cash and goodies. That is thuggery. It is low character to teach your children they are Americans even though they are NOT and you continue to teach them loyalty to Mexico and to hate AMERICA. It is low character to boldly stand up and protest against a government in a country you have lied, stolen, and cheated to live in and demand your rights. So, I don’t have a problem with what Mitt REALLY says, except I would round them up and bus them out. And if they wanted their anchor babies to stay, then leave them for us to raise, but low character still goes back. But I am harsher than Mitt. You write and opinionine well — Why don’t you go to the sources instead of what you are spoonfed — You would have more credibility.

The problem is that most democrat voters have no idea what is actually going on. We have lost many freedoms this past four years; we are poised to lose more.

I had a discussion with a young democrat voter yesterday, making the comment about lost freedoms. He pointed out that the Patriot Act was passed during Bush’s term. I reminded him that it hadn’t been repealed by dear leader, either, contrary to his initial promises.

Yes indeed, Bush was a big government progressive. But he doesn’t hold a candle to this current batch.

    Their support for voter ID

    Well put.
As far as election fraud goes, we learned this lesson in Minnesota already with the Al Franken fiasco that if you are going to win an election from here on out, you better win it decisively.
And in another twist of irony, the voter ID amendment went down in flames here as well
    Why ?
Because of the constant drum beat in the media for months that voting yes was akin to Republican ELECTION FRAUD
    thereby guaranteeing Franken another term.
Meanwhile government stings result in heavy fines and threats of license revocation for retailers who’s employees forget to ask this SAME “disenfranchised” Democrat for ID over a pack of smokes

You should unbunch your panties for a second. For a long time government has passed “sin” taxes to influence peoples’ behavior. That is a fact, not my opinion on what governments should do. Frankly I though it ironic that one of the first things that dear leader did, after promising no new taxes on the “non rich” was to raise taxes on tobacco. It is also a fact that smokers tend to be those with lower incomes (and dear leader had to know that).

Personally, I don’t like tobacco, and prefer not smelling other people’s smoke. But I believe people have a right to smoke and the government’s attack on tobacco is a classic case for how the government gradually infringes upon peoples’ rights. And the government’s plan is to raise taxes on smokers enough to convince people to stop smoking.

And that gets to the point of my post. If you buy the argument that higher taxes on smoking will influence peoples’ behavior, then how can you escape the conclusion that raising taxes on workers will influence their behavior so that they don’t work so hard?

Democrat dimwits don’t remember the 1970s. Top tax rates were up to 72%. There was a whole industry helping these high income earners to find ways to shelter their income and not pay such high taxes. Doctors had their tax accountants tell them in September or so when they should go on vacation for the rest of the year, that they would essentially be working for free if they kept working.

Democrats (and some republicans) never understand that when tax rates are lower, the productive will spend less time looking for tax shelters and more time working and making money. Lower tax rates bring in more money, rather than less, into the government.

The simple fact is that regardless of tax rates, the federal government collects about 18.5% of GDP as taxes (Obama is spending 25% of GDP, thus the deficits). Higher tax rates depress growth of GDP; lower tax rates encourage growth of GDP. But dear leader doesn’t care about that. He wants higher taxes because he wants fewer rich people.

There are things that work well in Europe, like the way they vote in Germany and France, both of which I’ve seen at elections.

Everyone who votes shows proper ID, is handed a PAPER BALLOT, which they drop into a box inside a curtained cabin.

If people care enough to want to vote they should be expected to get themselves and ID to prove they are indeed eligible.

I also think that “early voting” opens the door even wider to fraud and must be challenged in court.

All these tricks used by the dhimmicrats are tantamount to a major disenfranchisement of the Majority of Americans.

Nothing less than that took place in the election which ended on Nov. 6, 2012.

There is another interesting development that is not being reported much yet, but will probably happen quickly, now that Obama has all that flexibility. The Muslims want a world wide caliphate in order to implement Sharia law throughout the world. They are now looking at Turkey as the site for this. Many in the UN have approved of Turkey as a site for the One World Islamic caliphate. Obama has a special czar working on this. Guess who is often mentioned as the world wide caliphate leader. Hint: More than 85% of American Muslims voted for Obama in this election.

Obama put in his place, by ABBAS!

Abbas’ blunt “no” underscored the new Middle East reality, where the PA chief feels he can snub the United States and bank on international opposition to the State of Israel’s position for defensible borders, said analysts.

Obama discovers (but will he learn) there are people you just can’t talk to. Talking doesn’t work with some people.

Of course this will be blamed on “climate change” – the reality is it is anthropogenic in nature, but has nothing to do with weather, temperature or climate.

High water measuring 1.49 metres (5ft) above the normal level of the Adriatic sea came with bad weather that swept Italy at the weekend, causing floods in historic cities including Vicenza as well in the region of Tuscany 250 miles further south. Venice’s high water, or “acqua alta”, said to be the sixth highest since 1872, flooded 70% of the city and was high enough to make raised wooden platforms for pedestrians float away. The record high water in Venice – 1.94 metres in 1966 – prompted many residents to abandon the city for new lives on the mainland.

Like New Orleans, Venice was basically built on a settling swamp and the source of the silt that kept building the land up was tamed, prevented from bringing more material in to keep the land-forming process going.

New Orleans is sinking. So is Venice. Climate change has nothing to do with this just as it had nothing to do with Katrina or Sandy.

Moonbats suggest that even suicide is preferable as long as they get their way.

Part of moonbat philosophy is that capitalism is bad and needs to be completely destroyed – which is essentially what could result if we do go off the “fiscal cliff” – in order to fix things.

True enough, but republicans have contributed mightily to the mess we face. Teddy Roosevelt was the first progressive we elected. Richard Nixon created the EPA, OSHA, and a couple of other agencies. Bush gave us the Patriot Act, TARP, and Medicare Part D. Obama has simply made things much worse. Plus Bush wasn’t actually a communist/fascist.

Apology accepted…I certainly do NOT want amnesty, but no one seems to take the time (especially conservatives) to sit down, review and discuss all the options, and begin to make a list of where we might go with this – at least start a dialogue, and get this problem solved.

If Latinos had noticed at least a glimmer of concern in Romney (whom I still believe was a good candidate) by his saying he would make an effort to finally tackle the problem, maybe he could have captured the 8% or so needed from Latinos to win.

As far as your post, I agree wholeheartedly – 100% – with your views! If we were allowed, I would be down there with my construction buddies working on a border fence tomorrow!

But conservatives silence on this issue, and their knee-jerk emotional outbursts when the issue is up for discussion, have again handed the keys to the kingdom back to Obama.

He has already done major damage by appointing La Raza lover Sonya Sotomayer to SCOTUS, and the mind-boggling insane selection of Cecilia Muñoz – a damn senior vice-president of La Raza – to head his Domestic Policy Council. Before he was even sworn into office in 2009, he stated his intention to appoint a Latino woman from East L.A., Hilda Solis, to be US Secretary of Labor. Wonder why California is in the toilet, but Obama still has an edge with their vote?

Any more influx of Latino votes and he will be president for life.

And our shoot-yourself-in-the-foot conservative side, instead of rolling up our sleeves and being creative, and communicating, is talking about running off to a bunker with sniper rifles or seceding from the union….WTF?

La Raza is a f*n racist criminal enterprise who believe whites are as bad as Sweep the leg thinks browns are bad, and they are as much a threat to our national sovereignty as is Al Qaida. Both groups could be full of purple people for all I care, but they both need to be eliminated!

The only way to beat them is to first get into office!

I am a remodeler and cabinetmaker. I don’t go burn houses down that need to be rebuilt. I’m forced to find solutions, to make accommodations, to be creative, and to make things work – from the foundation to the final coat of paint. And I certainly don’t go hide in the crawlspace with a six-pack and my 9mm.

The burn-the-house-down mentality here is ruining the housing market.

    Menendez Must Be Investigated –
NJ GOP focusing in on newly reelected Democratic senator

Too bad our Congress only issues slaps on the hand for this nonsense.

New Jersey Republicans are accusing Sen. Bob Menendez (D., N.J.) of having violated Senate ethics rules by failing to disclose or seek Senate permission for air travel and lodging provided by a wealthy campaign donor.

The Middlesex County Republican Organization is asking the Senate Ethics Committee to launch an investigation into Menendez based on public records and media reports indicating the senator failed to disclose and seek permission for a series of flights to Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic between 2010 and 2012.

Records indicate Menendez made at least four trips on a corporate jet owned by Salomon Melgen, a Florida ophthalmologist who has donated more than $220,000 to Democratic candidates and committees since 1993. Melgen gave at least $12,600 to Menendez during that period.

Antivirus pioneer John McAfee is on the run from murder charges, Belize police say.

    Guess what – he’s a moonbat!

Details remain sketchy so far, but residents say that Faull was a well-liked builder who hailed originally from California Florida. The two men had been at odds for some time. Last Wednesday, Faull filed a formal complaint against McAfee with the mayor’s office, asserting that McAfee had fired off guns and exhibited “roguish behavior.” Their final disagreement apparently involved dogs.

In July of 2010, shortly before Allison Adonizio pulled the plug on their quorum-sensing project and fled the country, McAfee began posting on a drug-focused Russian-hosted message board called Bluelight about his attempts to purify the psychoactive compounds colloquially known as “bath salts.”

Writing under the name “stuffmonger,” a handle he has used on other online message boards, McAfee posted more than 200 times over the next nine months about his ongoing quest to purify psychoactive drugs from compounds commercially available over the internet. “I’m a huge fan of MDPV,” he wrote. “I think it’s the finest drug ever conceived, not just for the indescribable hypersexuality, but also for the smooth euphoria and mild comedown.”

It’s not always easy to tell who’s coming or going as the Obama administration starts its second term, but multiple agencies have quietly commissioned artists to paint official portraits of Cabinet secretaries and other top appointees — an expenditure often seen when officials are on the way out the door or already gone.

Upside Down Flag Protests Over Election

It is becoming a growing form of protest over the outcome of the Presidential Election; people flying the American Flag upside down. “That’s a sign of distress; this country is in distress right now,” said Guerrieri. Guerrieri makes no effort to hide his feelings about President Barack Obama.

“This Benghazi incident, he left them four people there to die,” says Guerrieri. “That’s the way I feel about it.”

White House website deluged with secession petitions from 20 states

On Nov.7, the day after President Barack Obama was re-elected, the White House’s website received a petition asking the administration to allow Louisiana to secede.

If 25,000 people sign the petition by Dec. 7, it will “require a response” from the Obama administration

The Louisiana petition has collected more than 12,300 signatures in four days. A separate effort from Texas has 15,400 supporters. (see next post)

Similar petitions from 18 other states began arriving Nov. 9, bringing the total — for the moment — to 20.

The petition to let Texas secede from the U.S. to be reviewed by the White House

As of 3:40 p.m. ET, more than 25,000 Texans have already signed the petition on The White House website to let Texas peacefully secede from United States of America and “create its own NEW government.”

You are correct that raising taxes influences workers, most of all they don’t have that much money to spend anymore.
What influences workers more than tax rates is income stability – if it doesn’t matter how hard you work but you still get the same money anyway, why work hard? just slacking by will suffice. It’s one of the reasons why command economies can’t work.
Raising taxes on workers during a recession is bad, raising taxes on very rich people doesn’t make that big of an effect because they have enough money to spend already and can buy what they want to no matter if the taxes are 25% or 35%. At a certain point a person is so rich, that a few millions here or there don’t matter, unless that person is greedy enough to care about it.
