“If you surrender everything to the government and give it total power to plan the whole economy, this will not guarantee your economic security, but it will guarantee the descent of the entire nation to a level of miserable poverty—as the practical results of every totalitarian economy, communist or fascist, have demonstrated.

Morally, the promise of an impossible “right” to economic security is an infamous attempt to abrogate the concept of rights. It can and does mean only one thing: a promise to enslave the men who produce, for the benefit of those who don’t…” – Ayn Rand

I wish that were so. I didn’t vote for Obama. I actively opposed him. I believe that his policies are wrong on so many levels.

Am I getting what I deserve?

    Hayek documentary
Not a bad job for a bunch of Socialists

Interesting documentary. Unfortunately they fail to identify a few things:
    1. Government printing presses are the cause of inflation.

    2. A centrally planned economy will never perform as well as a free economy, where the government’s main roles are to enforce contracts and ensure the value of its currency.

    3. Keynes theories have been, beyond a doubt, to have been thoroughly disproved. Yet that is the working theory that the government embraces.

    4. The problem with the great depression wasn’t caused by capitalism, just as the great recession isn’t a result of flaws in capitalism. Both were a direct result of government policy.

During an appearance on MSNBC’s The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell, Bob Costas attempted to prop up his ludicrous claim that young men can’t own guns “without something bad happening,” by asserting that athletes have never used a gun in a positive context, a claim which is easily debunked.

‘2016’ Oscar Snub Has Filmmakers Claiming Political Bias
Gerald Molen, the Oscar-winning producer of Schindler’s List, is claiming political bias because a documentary movie he produced this year isn’t up for an Oscar, even though that film, 2016: Obama’s America, made more money at the box office than the combined earning of the 15 films the Academy deemed eligible.

2016, a negative take on President Barack Obama co-written and directed by author Dinesh D’Souza, earned $33.4 million at the domestic box office. But its omission on the list of the 15 documentaries the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences said Monday would advance in the voting process makes it ineligible for an Oscar.
“Dinesh warned me this might happen,” Molen said with a laugh Tuesday. “The action confirms my opinion that the bias against anything from a conservative point of view is dead on arrival in Hollywood circles. The film’s outstanding success means that America went to see the documentary in spite of how Hollywood feels about it.”

    D’Souza echoed his producer’s words.
“I want to thank the Academy for not nominating our film,” D’Souza joked. “By ignoring 2016, the top-performing box-office hit of 2012, and pretending that films like Searching for Sugar Man and This Is Not a Film are more deserving of an Oscar, our friends in Hollywood have removed any doubt average Americans may have had that liberal political ideology, not excellence, is the true standard of what receives awards.”

However, I hope Molen is also good with never getting any positive strokes from Hollywood ever again.

And from right here in San Diego – I actually heard about this before it happened…

Your federal tax dollars are being used to prepare for the zombie apocalypse

The above film clip (see link, above) is not a “behind the scenes” of the latest Dawn of the Dead straight-to-DVD ripoff. It is the actual footage of first responder seminar in San Diego, California. The Department of Homeland Security deemed the event an allowable expense, enabling participants to use federal grant funding to pay to go.

I think they hired the “occu-tards” for this. To thank them for their support and ensure future similar support. Hey, they did make perfect zombies!

And the highest tax rates in the land may just go to…

Thanks to passage of Proposition 30 last month, high-income Californians would pay the nation’s highest marginal income tax rates — nearly 52 percent — if President Barack Obama and Congress fail to make a deal to avoid the so-called “fiscal cliff,” according to a new study.

Without a fiscal cliff deal to the contrary, the Bush era tax cuts on high-income taxpayers would expire next year and rates would return to their previous levels.

Proposition 30 added three percentage points to the marginal state income tax rate for California’s highest-income taxpayers, bringing it to 13.3 percent. That action raised California over other high-tax jurisdictions to a marginal rate of 51.9 percent, slightly higher than New York City’s level. Hawaii was the only other place with a calculated rate above 50 percent.

Well there’s certainly more and more evidence the USSC was right – Obamacare IS just a huge ball of new taxes!

The U.S. Internal Revenue Service on Wednesday released final rules for a new tax on medical devices, products ranging from surgical sutures to knee replacement implants, that starts next year as part of President Barack Obama’s 2010 healthcare law.

The 2.3-percent tax must be paid, effective after December 31, by device-makers on their gross sales. The tax is expected to raise $29 billion in government revenues through 2022.

Companies including Boston Scientific Corp, 3M Co and Kimberly-Clark Corp have been lobbying the U.S. Congress for a repeal of the tax.

A repeal bill passed the Republican-controlled U.S. House of Representatives in June, but it has not been voted on by the Democratic-controlled Senate.

Some might say Reagan, others Eisenhower, but you can make a good case that the answer is Calvin Coolidge.

To be fair, you need to define your terms, be more specific about what you mean and, above all, remember, despite what the American people can be fooled into believing, Congress has sole power of the purse.

Paul was, indeed, a fiscal conservative, but I wasn’t thinking of him. A fiscal conservative is a guy who believes in smaller, less expansive central government.

My point is that I live in a flyover state which no one contests. Had I wanted to vote for Paul, it wouldn’t have made any difference, since the nominee was chosen before I had a chance to exercise my vote.

With the possible exception of Reagan (his name be praised), there hasn’t been a single candidate from either party in my lifetime who has run on a promise to scale back the government.

Romney was more of a “I can run this ginormous beast better” rather than “I’m going to get the government out of your life” sort of guy.

Interesting how Marx’s class rhetoric is being used line and verse by the Democrat party today, yet those Democrats still claim to believe in a degree of capitalism. Eat the rich, redistribution, fairness, ect.
In the Marx documentary they run with the canard of falling wages, but fail to mention the multitudes of things capitalism made affordable to vastly improve the lives of the poor today.
Instead they by default blame the capitalist for his failure to keep up with inflation today(a government caused phenomenon) or that that technology that replaced the pick axe in the workers hand with a machine actually improves the lot of the worker.
That efficiency is a good thing in time for all.
But the alarming part is where they suggest that Marx’s work was not finished, and reject that the misery and death of Communism IS Marx’s theories run to their conclusion. That to change human nature one must come down on humanity with the force of a thousand freight trains.

IMHO : The biggest problem which consumes almost half of all revenue the US, Canadian or any government receives through taxation, is servicing the interest on the debt with the local reserve bank, FED in the US, BOC in Canada. Dismantle the FED, you literally get rid of the IRS, dismantle the BOC, you get rid of the CRA, etc. etc. Funny thing from my research is that the IRS and the CRA are not government agencies, they are agencies of the associated reserve bank, which means they are NGO’s with legislated power that has been given by governments through instruments of extortion demanded by the IMF/World Bank. Do the research, you’ll be shocked.

BO is demanding more “stimulus” money and he will probably get it.

Even though businesses sat on record amounts of unused cash through four previous “stimulus” attempts.

No prosperous, free country has ever been ruled by despots or totalitarians. But totalitarianism is great for the totalitarian. So the steps to establish and maintain such a government in the U.S., necessarily by taxation and inflation (“Quantitative easing” sic), have to be taken in small increments.

Bush and BO have made the exceptional steps of being obvious. They redistributed tax dollars in obviously huge amounts through TARP and stimulus spending; dangerous but bc Bush was the first (in public memory) and on his way out, he got a pass.

BO can do it bc he’s BO.

Bernanke can also announce a $40B-per-month-for-infinity QE3 program, bc he knows no one will stop him. And he’s comfortable.

Americans struggle financially bc both democrats and republican politicians do not do anything that will substantially disturb their power or positions.

This is also why the republicans signed off (incredibly) on a Consent Degree which legally bars the republican party from challenging fraud in an election.

republican politicians are comfortable with democrat rule because they benefit from the poverty liberalism foments.

republicans, as well as democrats are fully aware that it is also necessary to vilify someone or something visible to the commoner: —thus “fairness”, contraception, gays in the soup, too much sugar, too much salt, or whatever petty and sordid Rollerball activity that can catch the public eye and distract from the fact that $100 is today only worth $80 and tomorrow will be worth $20.

Occasionally a Reagan, or a Coolidge or a wide-eyed Romney comes along and disrupts things, but not for long.

republicans know that if they don’t make any waves that get too big, they will continue to be the beneficiaries of their individual fiefdoms –so ordained to be established in the liberal collective.

    1 Samuel 8:
10 ¶And Samuel told all the words of the Lord unto the people that asked of him a king.

11 And he said, This will be the manner of the king that shall reign over you: He will take your sons, and appoint them for himself, for his chariots, and to be his horsemen; and some shall run before his chariots.

12 And he will appoint him captains over thousands, and captains over fifties; and will set them to ear his ground, and to reap his harvest, and to make his instruments of war, and instruments of his chariots.

13 And he will take your daughters to be confectionaries, and to be cooks, and to be bakers.

14 And he will take your fields, and your vineyards, and your oliveyards, even the best of them, and give them to his servants.

15 And he will take the tenth of your seed, and of your vineyards, and give to his officers, and to his servants.

16 And he will take your menservants, and your maidservants, and your goodliest young men, and your asses, and put them to his work.

17 He will take the tenth of your sheep: and ye shall be his servants.
Samuel warned the people that a king would extract 10% of everything they owned, and they would lament having asked for a king. In the US, the federal government used to consume 3% of GDP. Currently Obama and his ilk, with no budget, consume 25% of GDP.

We’d need a massive tax break and cut in spending to get back to 10%…and who wouldn’t be happy with that?

Even though businesses sat on record amounts of unused cash through four previous “stimulus” attempts.

Which was exactly the case during the Great Depression. Those with money lost confidence that FDR wouldn’t find another way to take away their wealth. FDR even passed the “excess profits tax” in 1936, leading to a recession in the middle of the Great Depression.

People with money to invest either hope to cozy up to the administration in hopes of making money, or don’t trust the government and won’t invest until the current leader is out of office.

That is what ended the Great Depression; finally FDR left office. (WWII did not end the Great Depression)

Obama Quietly Handing Over Billions of Dollars to the UN in the Name of Global Warming

While all of the attention today in Washington is on the looming fiscal cliff, President Obama’s administration is quietly handing over billions of dollars to the United Nations in the name of global warming.

Three years ago, President Obama helped create a United Nations Green Slush Fund that would redistribute over $100 billion from developed countries to developing countries. While he has been racking up huge deficits and talking up tax increases, the President has already sent billions of American taxpayer dollars to the United Nations – and he’s managed to do it quietly so that no one will notice.

How many billions have already been handed over in the last three years? It’s hard to tell. There appears to be little in the way of transparency. Bloomberg reports that the European Union, the United States, Japan and other developed nations paid out in the range of $23 to $34 billion.

At what point does such misappropriation of American taxpayer dollars become an impeachable offense?

Republican introduces “bipartisan” online sales tax bill

“This proposal, and other online sales tax collection proposals like it, would allow states to penalize the innovative e-commerce business model by targeting small online businesses as convenient sources (and collectors) of revenue,” said CCIA President and CEO Ed Black.

The Marketplace Fairness Act, and its House counterpart the Marketplace Equity Act, seek to clarify, and arguably overturn, a 1992 Supreme Court ruling that requires retailers to have a physical presence in a state in order to collect sales tax on goods.

“Severing the relationship between taxation and physical presence would be a fundamental transformation in how we consider taxes,” Black continued. “Such a significant step deserves more extensive consideration than attachment to the unrelated Defense Authorization bill.”

Still, a recent poll indicates that the majority of Americans support the idea, describing an online sales tax as “common sense”. They also feel that a tax for online purchases would encourage people to buy local and keep tax dollars in their community.

L.A. County proposes a new tax disguised as a “water fee” on all parcels to clean up storm water

The federal Clean Water Act keeps on spitting out mandates to counties and cities, the most recent coming from the Los Angeles Regional Water Quality Control Board. On Nov. 9, the Board passed the MS4 Permit Order, which says all 88 cities in the county must present storm water clean-up projects to the Board within the next 18 months. The only exception is Long Beach, which has its own plan.

Water agencies have teamed up with environmentalists, regulatory agencies and the county of Los Angeles to back a proposed parcel fee – some call it a tax – that would annually charge property owners across the county from $54 for a single family home to $11,000 for a big box retailer to raise approximately $275 million a year.

Judge Set to Rule on Case that Could Reverse Auto Bailout

Gerber, the federal judge who initially approved the sale with little hesitation, now has the power to reverse the entire auto bailout. He has expressed deep frustration with the company for failing to disclose the deal, leading some to speculate that he may overturn one of President Barack Obama’s signature achievements.

“When I approved the sale agreement and entered the sale approval order I mistakenly thought that I was merely saving GM, the supply chain, and about a million jobs. It never once occurred to me, and nobody bothered to disclose, that amongst all of the assigned contracts was this lock-up agreement, if indeed it was assigned at all,” Gerber said in July.

“The judge has made it very clear that he is greatly dissatisfied with the process,” one analyst told the Washington Free Beacon in October. “He’s basically implying that GM hid it from him and that reopening the sale is a possibility.”

A chlorine gas leak that sickened nearly 200 people at a Tyson Foods plant in Arkansas last year happened because a worker who couldn’t read the English-language label on a barrel of chemicals inadvertently poured bleach into it, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said in a report released Thursday.

In its Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report, the CDC said a Spanish-speaking worker poured sodium hypochlorite — which is bleach — into a 55-gallon drum that had been left in the wrong place and that contained a residual solution of an acidic antimicrobial agent, creating chlorine gas.
“The worker who mixed the sodium hypochlorite with the leftover acidic solution told investigators he knew such a mixture was dangerous but did not recognize the drum and could not read the label to ascertain its contents,” the CDC wrote of the June 2011 incident.

In a letter to the Department of Education, Mitch Kahle, founder of the Hawaii Citizens for the Separation of State and Church, took issue with the involvement of New Hope Church, which handles ticket sales and sells those tickets at its services.

“The issue here is an entanglement between a public school and a Christian church,” said Kahle.

“And one of the things about the constitution is that it prohibits the involvement of public schools and churches.”

NO IT DOES NOT! Where does it say that? That is yet another LIE!

  26. Bob Roberts says:

Socrates once replied to a question posed by one of his followers who asked:
( paraphrased ) What is the meaning and purpose of Life?

Socrates answered: “If there is one thing that I know… it is that I know nothing.”

I would have said something more along the lines of “If there is one thing I know, it is how little I actually know.”

We all know SOMETHING. Much of what some of us (moonbats) know simply isn’t true (yeah, Reagan said it) but we all know SOMETHING.
