Remember when the left got all crazy because, when a navy ship was coming back home and the crew strung a banner commemorating the fact THEIR mission (of the deployment from which they were returning) was accomplished, Bush was castigated for appearing in front of it?

Well Obama’s closing down his “jobs council” because, according to Democrats, it’s mission was accomplished.

With the admitted unemployment rate (not admitting the many chronically unemployed who’ve simply given up) hovering at 7.8% (if you can even believe that number), I’d say the mission failed.

Critics have argued that the council’s primary purpose was to create the appearance of action at a time when the nation was pining for something — anything — to rein in soaring joblessness.

    Window dressing.

A jihadist website posted a new threat by al Qaeda this week that promises to conduct “shocking” attacks on the United States and the West (France, Dennmark, others).

The attacks will be “strong, serious, alarming, earth-shattering, shocking and terrifying.”

Under a section of the post on the method of the attacks, the unidentified writer said the strikes would be “group and lone-wolf operations, in addition to the use of booby-trapped vehicles.”
“All operations will be recorded and published in due time,” the message said. “Let France be prepared, and let the helpers of France be prepared, for it is going to be a long war of attrition.”

A ‘Paycheck Fairness Act’ introduced in Congress last week would require employers to show pay disparity is related to job-performance and prohibit employer retaliation for sharing salary information with coworkers.

NEWS from that gun-free zone known as Washington, DC:

Buying a ski mask isn’t illegal, but could restricting their sale help prevent crime?
The notion is stirring debate among some Northwest Washington residents after reports of robberies committed by men wearing ski masks. The frequency of the robberies also has caught attention of police, who say one neighborhood crew is frequently purchasing masks at a local sports store for the express purpose of committing robberies.

Well if they know who they are, why aren’t they picking them up?

Well the obamunists managed to bungle another gun sting – one wonders if it was not on purpose, like the last one.

the effort to date has not snared any major dealers or taken down a gang. Instead, it resulted in a string of mistakes and failures, including an ATF military-style machine gun landing on the streets of Milwaukee and the agency having $35,000 in merchandise stolen from its store, a Journal Sentinel investigation has found.

When the 10-month operation was shut down after the burglary, agents and Milwaukee police officers who participated in the sting cleared out the store but left behind a sensitive document that listed names, vehicles and phone numbers of undercover agents.

Dominican prostitute: [moonbat] Sen. Bob Menendez ‘likes the youngest and newest girls’

In a little-noticed email published online Wednesday by Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), a young Dominican woman wrote nine months ago that she slept with 59-year-old New Jersey Democratic Sen. Bob Menendez at a series of sex parties organized by Dr. Salomon Melgen, a longtime Menendez campaign donor.

“That senator also likes the youngest and newest girls,” the woman wrote on April 21, 2002, according to an English translation provided to The Daily Caller by a native Spanish speaker. TheDC is not disclosing the woman’s name because she may have been a minor when her alleged sexual encounters with Menendez occurred. Four different Spanish speakers who reviewed TheDC’s translation of her letter all said her Spanish writing indicated someone who was very young and unsophisticated.

US pension insurer warns of rising deficit

The chances of the Pension Benefit Guarantee Corporation – the publicly created but privately funded body that insures the nation’s occupational pension schemes – going bust went from 1 in 3 at the end of 2011 to more than 9 in 10 by the end of 2012, a report prepared for the PBGC and released on Tuesday said.

High quality global journalism requires investment. Please share this article with others using the link below, do not cut & paste the article. See our Ts&Cs and Copyright Policy for more detail. Email to buy additional rights.

PBGC’s director, Josh Gotbaum, has warned that its inability to set premiums on employers that take account of the risk each presents is preventing it from stabilising its finances. It has asked Congress to be allowed to set premiums in the same way as bodies that insure deposits at the nation’s banks.

In November, the PBGC reported a record shortfall – the gap between available assets and projected liabilities – of $34bn.
As of September 30 2012, the multi-employer programme had total assets of $1.8bn, about a quarter of the total liabilities for those schemes of $7bn.

Don’t be fooled, Obama & Democrats in Congress are taking us over the fiscal cliff next month.

As the U.S. gross domestic product takes a hit from lower defense budgets, federal spending cuts viewed as unthinkable a few months ago — $1.2 trillion falling heavily on the Pentagon — are seen as likely starting March 1.
What’s known as budget sequestration, designed to be so draconian that it would push Democrats and Republicans to compromise on taxes and spending, has hardened the parties’ positions. If the cuts occur, they would require $600 billion in across-the-board military spending reductions over a decade that Defense Secretary Leon Panetta called “devastating.”

    Harry Reid lying again.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) on Thursday said the American economy is “in a recovery” despite the decline in the nation’s gross domestic product (GDP).
Reid made the remark after Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) blamed the White House for the unexpected contraction in the economy. Before Reid spoke, McConnell accused President Obama of spending too much time talking about fixing the economy rather than actually repairing it.
“Yesterday, we learned that our economy contracted for the first time in more than three years,” McConnell said. “This news comes, of course, after President Obama spent an entire election promising Americans that a return to robust economic growth was right around the corner, and little more than a week after the President said in his inaugural address that ‘economic recovery has begun.’
“Look: if the White House spent nearly as much time trying to actually fix the economy as it did claiming it was fixed — and then finding excuses and scapegoats when its premature pronouncements turned out to be false — I suspect the economy would actually be doing better than it is today.”
McConnell went on to say that the president has had four years and that America can see that his economic views aren’t working. He added that tax increases, advocated for by Democrats, would only make the economy worse.

For millionaire athletes, states with highest tax rates may not make the cut

Is Lefty’s stance on California’s tax hikes a sign of things to come for millionaire athletes?
The Golden State’s new 13.3 percent income tax on top earners prompted golfer Phil Mickelson to say earlier this month he was considering a move, and according to the accountants who advise millionaire athletes, he was just saying what a lot of jocks were already thinking. Federal taxes on the top income bracket just rose by roughly 5 percent, and, while there’s nothing rich athletes can do about that, they are paying attention to which states dip into their game checks — and how much they take.
“They’re going to have an exodus of people,” said John Karaffa, president of ProSport CPA, a Virginia-based firm that represents nearly 300 professional athletes, primarily in basketball and football. “I think they’ll see some [leave California] for sure. They were already a very high tax state and it’s getting to a point where folks have to make a business decision as well as a lifestyle decision.”

Niners CB says openly gay players would not be welcomed on the team

“I don’t do the gay guys man,” said Culliver, whose Niners play the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday. “I don’t do that. No, we don’t got no gay people on the team, they gotta get up out of here if they do.
“Can’t be with that sweet stuff. Nah…can’t be…in the locker room man. Nah.”
When quizzed by Lange whether any homosexual athletes would need to keep their sexuality a secret in football, Culliver responded: “Yeah, come out 10 years later after that.”

67 Percent of Texas Republicans Want Obama Impeached

If Democrats are serious about trying to turn Texas blue, they should get a gander at a just-released poll of Lone Star State voters that found 67 percent of Republican respondents support the impeachment of President Obama.

Of greater concern for liberals: the poll was conducted by the left-leaning Public Policy Polling.

Amazing that even 12 percent of Democrats support impeachment.

Time to ban Bows/Arrows right after we ban fists.

A Camden county man has been charged with murder after he allegedly fatally shot a man with a bow and arrow.

Sometime between 10 and 10:45 p.m. on Monday, two men got into a fistfight at a home on Brill Avenue in Berlin.

The argument broke up, and all of the people at the house left except for 25-year-old Kereti Paulsen, of Cape May Court House.

Meanwhile, 25-year-old Timothy Canfield, who was not involved in the initial altercation, went outside carrying a compound bow and a quiver of arrows. Canfield then shot Paulsen in the stomach with an arrow.

Police found Paulsen in the backyard of the Brill Avenue home where he was shot. He was pronounced dead at Virtua Hospital a short while later.

    MSNBC caught faking “news” again

Conservatives said the edited footage made it appear as though Neil Heslin was shouted down by Second Amendment advocates at a hearing in Connecticut, and rival network anchor Anderson Cooper agreed.

After finding itself embroiled in another controversy about edited video, NBC News has re-aired a clip (unedited) its critics say was selectively edited.

On Monday, MSNBC’s Martin Bashir aired a video that seemed to show grief-stricken Neil Heslin being heckled by pro-gun lobbyists as he talked about his 6-year-old son, who was killed in Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. While making a plea for gun control at a legislative hearing, Heslin at one point he turned to the audience and said: “I ask if there’s anybody in this room that can give me one reason or challenge this question: why anybody in this room needs to have one of these assault-style weapons or military weapons or high-capacity clips.”

When the audience remains silent, Heslin adds, “Not one person can answer that question.” And that’s when a few people recited the Second Amendment in response.
The video that host Martin Bashir aired, though, clipped out Heslin’s question and pause in the audience’s direction. The resulting edit made it look like boisterous audience members interrupted Heslin’s testimony. After the edited video aired, Bashir set up pundits with: “A father’s grief, interrupted by the cries of a heckler. That was the scene today in Hartford, Conn., where the parents of children killed at Sandy Hook Elementary testified before an audience that wasn’t always friendly.”

But what do you expect from MSNBC and Bashir?
