    More on NYC’s Russian immigrants:

“A man pleaded guilty today to illegally trying to smuggle restricted military-grade night-vision sniper scopes out of the US to Ukraine.

Volodymyr Ponomarenko was charged in Brooklyn federal court with attempting to ship the high-tech devices overseas without a Customs export license that is required to transport restricted technology out of the country.

US Customs and Border Protection officers at New York’s JFK airport had discovered the items in Dec. 2011 during a search of parcels destined for Ukraine, officials said.

“The defendant tried to circumvent laws that protect our national security by preventing specialized technologies from falling into the wrong hands,” said Loretta Lynch, US Attorney for the Eastern District of New York.

Inside they found two night-vision rifle sniper scopes, a thermal imaging camera, and three high-powered sniper scopes, Brooklyn federal prosecutors say.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents traced the shipment to a freight forwarder in Elizabeth, NJ., and eventually tracked down and arrested Ponomarenko – who is a citizen of Ukraine, prosecutors said.

Under federal law, certain types of rifle scopes cannot be exported without a special license from the US government out of concern that they might be diverted to terrorists, insurgents, or others who could utilize them to kill US armed forces overseas, officials said…”

This link is to a active 3D printing site with a focus on firearms. I can’t imagine a plastic gun ever being as durable or high quality as a metal one, but disposable guns wouldn’t have to adhere to government manufacturing regulations and could be deliberately destroyed without a significant loss of investment. A little thermite in the gun safe could prevent a lifetime in the reeducation camps.

Moonbat infested Detroit is NUMBER ONE!

No big surprise. Nor was the fact one of it’s “suburbs”, Flint, came in at #2! Technically it’s a ways away, about 60-70 miles, but it’s still moonbat infested same as Detroit!

Obama’s turf Chicago comes in at #4.

Cant say that really shocked me either!

And wouldn’t you know it, #3 was also in Illinois, ROCKFORD.

And as long as we’re dealing with things that are no big surprise…

Family: Kenny Clutch, rapper from Oakland killed in Vegas Strip shooting, was nothing like his gangster persona

No doubt that’s why he was involved in a high speed chase/shootout on the Vegas strip.

Because he’s nothing like the gangsta wannabe he portrays in his professional life.

Take a good look at the mugshot they ran with the article and tell me again he wasn’t actively living the life of a gangsta wannabe.

Bay Area law enforcement sources said Cherry had prior arrests in Oakland and Berkeley. He was convicted on a gun charge in 2007 stemming from an arrest in Berkeley, sources said.

But remember! There’s just no way he was living a gangsta lifestyle. That gun had nothing to do with being a gangsta!

I don’t think there’s anybody here that “liked” David Koresh, and his followers were a bunch of dumba##es.

Regardless, people also have a God-given “right” to be stupid if they want, and a lot of what went on in the Davidian compound was at the very least in poor taste and at most a criminal offense, and NONE of it warranted the “death penalty” and the full-scale paramilitary assault that occurred.

Like the 1990s bumper sticker says, “Is YOUR church BATF Approved?”

I certainly do not agree with the Branch Davidians, in fact, I don’t even like them – but that’s exactly the point: As a Constitutional Fundamentalist Libertarian Conservative I will STILL stand up for the rights of everyone, even those (and sometimes especially those) that I don’t even like.

What “our” government did (supposedly in “our” name) at Waco was a total over-reach and out of all proportion to reality, and American citizens died, including the very children the government claimed it was trying to “protect”.

I usually don’t cite Bible verses here on Moonbattery – I leave that to Ms. Jodie, et al. In this case though, I have one that sums it up perfectly:

Matthew 25:40 – And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’

Words to live by, and it goes hand-in-hand with the quote commonly attributed to Voltaire: “I do not agree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it”.

When Koresh knew it was over, he had them pepper the ATF guys with gunfire. The rest took care of itself, and there is a lot of evidence that the fire was started by Koresh. He as much as said this would be how it went down. I know. I heard him say it. So while the gov’t botched this one, I don’t think you can hold it up as “Troops sent to destroy church”, you know?

Jodie, you’re right on…and I believe because of Obama’s supernatural power, the population (world, really) is hypnotized and unable to see what he’s doing. I suggest we all watch him closely next month in Israel. There is much that could happen!

  28. Jodie says:

I am going to be watching Obama in Israel with a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach. As the Bible warns, there will be some Israeli leaders who will embrace Obama and support his evil agenda – thinking that he is on their side. It’s going to be hard to watch, but very prophetic. It SHOULD be clear to anyone whose mind is not veiled that Obama is an enemy of Israel and a friend of the Muslim Brotherhood. But, like you keep saying Skyfall, there is a supernatural power that is enabling Obama and that is the current ruler of this world. Those who are perishing cannot see it.

Foreign election officials amazed by trust-based U.S. voting system

I mean, leave it up to the Libyans and the Jordanians to point out all the ways you can cheat in the US elections! LOL Now THAT should give us all food for thought.

For the head of Libya’s national election commission, the method by which Americans vote is startling in that it depends so much on trust and the good faith of election officials and voters alike.

“It’s an incredible system,” said Nuri K. Elabbar, who traveled to the United States along with election officials from more than 60 countries to observe today’s presidential elections as part of a program run by the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES). Your humble Cable guy visited polling places with some of the international officials this morning. Most of them agreed that in their countries, such an open voting system simply would not work.

“It’s very difficult to transfer this system as it is to any other country. This system is built according to trust and this trust needs a lot of procedures and a lot of education for other countries to adopt it,” Elabbar said.

The most often noted difference between American elections among the visitors was that in most U.S. states, voters need no identification. Voters can also vote by mail, sometimes online, and there’s often no way to know if one person has voted several times under different names, unlike in some Arab countries, where voters ink their fingers when casting their ballots.

The international visitors also noted that there’s no police at U.S. polling stations. In foreign countries, police at polling places are viewed as signs of security; in the United States they are sometimes seen as intimidating.

and, “I don’t think you can hold it up as “Troops sent to destroy church”, you know?”

Nobody said that, or at least I didn’t. What’s undeniable that the media used the religion angle to imply that the Davidians somehow “had it coming”, and the implications regarding social and religious freedom should be obvious.

Like I said, regardless of how you feel about Koresh and his followers, OUR federal government got 86 people killed (including four law enforcement agents) and it was NOT NECESSARY. Waiting him out was one way to deal with it, and there were other approaches that could have been tried, but, no – jackbooted thuggery was the approach they took, and a bad situation got a lot worse.

For reasons that are obvious to those that have followed my posts on Moonbattery over the years, I am definitely pro law enforcement and military – and it’s no contadiction that I’m also vehemently anti-Fascist.

My criticism of how everyone from Janet Reno on down handled the Waco mess is not “second guessing” or “Monday morning quarterbacking” – anyone with any common sense could see this was gonna blow up.

Yes, David Koresh is responsible for what he started – but the fact is, the government is responsible for how it ended.

  34. Skyfall says:

Tony, while I know what you mean, I will only go so far as to say the gov’t mishandled it. Responsible? No. Ol’ Vern started the shooting, started the fire and I know that for a fact. I personally heard him talk about it more than a year (maybe two) before this took place. He had no intention of anyone getting out alive, and also succeeded in making a lot of folks think it was the government’s fault.

The gov’t shouldn’t have pushed it that far, true. But there was a lot of pressure do to children being in there and reports of abuse, etc. It was a bad situation all around.

The media…well, they play up everything for ratings, so I agree with you there. But no…sorry…the gov’t (in this case) was acting more like the Jimmy Carter Iran raid than the Gestapo.

So no offense, Tony, but I must disagree with you on this point.

Obamacare Baloney: The Worst Is Yet to Come

At the risk of belaboring the obvious, that Obamacare is easily the biggest fraud perpetrated against the American people since the Anti-Saloon League said Prohibition would end drunkenness, recent revelations, which are not as much revelatory as they are damning, demand that Obamian lies and subterfuges regarding Obamacare be exposed.
Formally known as the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), you know, that earth-changing law passed in the still of the night by the Democrat House of Representatives by the narrowest of margins on March 21, 2010 without a single Republican “yea,” the law defended by then-Democrat Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi as one Democrats had “to pass the so that you can find out what’s in it,” the law Americans were promised would radically reduce health care costs and effectively inaugurate a Nirvana-ish (Obama-ish) health care era, has already been proven to be a monumental failure.

Millions of Americans understood that the PPACA, patterned after the socialistic British National Health Service (NHS)–which is now bankrupt and in process of bankrupting the British nation–was rife with major, fatal flaws from the outset but Democrats foisted it on the American people, anyway.

The enormity of new taxes on the middle class required to finance Obamacare, gimmicks like cross subsidies, (sharing the wealth outside the tax code), inherent huge increases in the national deficit, outright lies regarding a patient’s right to keep his current doctors and the burdens imposed on all care-givers, harsh penalties imposed for not buying a policy, trampling on religious rights, and myriad other clearly immoral or unconstitutional features should have caused our Supreme Court to toss the PPACA into the garbage where it belongs.

However, due to Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts’ temporary attack of insanity when he sided with SCOTUS’ left wingers for self-serving reasons last July, Obamacare is now officially the law of the land.

Long before July, it was clear to conscious people that Obamians were fully aware of the PPACA’s fatal flaws and didn’t give a damn about them.

Instead, they began engaging in underhanded deals, Obamacare waivers awarded to the president’s loyal lackies who, like most federal employees, are exempted from the horrors of the PPACA–and consequently increase the costs to everyone mandated to be covered by Obamacare.

As of a year ago, some 1,231 companies had applied for and received those patronage-style waivers, approximately four million mostly labor-union members.

Sucking up sure does have its rewards!

Getting little to no play on Obama’s mainstream media are the true costs to be levied on the rest of us unconnected schmucks in the form of financial penalties, layoffs, outright firings, and states choosing to opt out of the Obamacare disaster. As unwieldy as it sounds, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act should be more aptly titled the “Patient Non-protective Un-affordable Care Farce” (PNUCF).

Mt. Toth said the sheriffs’ statements set the stage for a constitutional and legal crisis.

“They would [then] be subject to prosecution” by the U.S. Department of Justice and Attorney General Eric Holder, Mr. Toth said. “So this legislation protects them.”

Mr. Toth’s bill would subject state and local — not federal — law enforcement to arrest and charges for trying to implement any federal ban on assault weapons or on ammunition magazines. It’s not a bill to nullify federal law, he said.
