Overpaid National Park Service Guide at Independence Hall Puts Down Constitution

Imagine the Louvre supervised by chimpanzees, or better still, the Vatican left in the care of gibbering demons from the bowels of hell. That would be the equivalent of what we now have running the vestigial remnants of the republic the Founding Fathers bequeathed to us:

A federal employee of the National Park Service who offers guided tours of Independence Hall in Philadelphia — the birthplace of the Constitution — stunned a group of tourists this week by telling them the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence were the product of “class elites who were just out to protect their privileged status.”

Mary A. Hogan, a federal employee making in excess of $95,000 per year in salary and benefits, provided a tour Monday afternoon at Independence Hall laced with factual inaccuracies and disparaging comments about the Founders and the Constitution.

Several attendees of her tour group on Monday told PJ Media that Hogan, who goes by the name Missy, had explained to them that “the Founders knew that when they left this room, what they had written wouldn’t matter very much.” Hogan told the group that the “most important part of the Constitution written at Independence Hall was the ability to change it.”

Among other factual inaccuracies,

“It is astounding how many times the first draft of that Constitution protected slavery,” Hogan told her tour group Tuesday afternoon.

The original Constitution only obliquely referred to slavery, in the “three-fifths” provision that hurt slave-holding states. But you can’t expect Missy to know much about the Constitution, given that she is paid a mere $95K+ to help preserve the heritage surrounding it.

Missy Hogan
Missy doesn’t think much of American heritage.

my sister and I were subjected to factual inaccuracies by an NPS guide in New Orleans. We stayed for a couple of stops, then walked away. She was black, there was no use confronting her. This was 2004

I would argue that it helped them by allowing the slaves to be counted for representation. But that is one of the Fundamental Compromises that allowed the US to form as a single country. Then, as now, politics can be pretty ugly.

Why is a tour guide paid 95K in the first place? If she were paid half that much,it would be a good salary, actually still way too high for someone this ignorant. We have scientists, physicians and engineers who don’t make that much, while actually doing something that matters.Missy Hoaks-wagon here should be replaced by a recording that someone actually might gather truthful information from.

If you go to the exhibits on the Mall by Independence Hall near the Liberty Bell, you can learn all about how the founding fathers were nasty, horrible men who owned slaves.

Bets of whether Missy attended Public Schools?

Paid subversive traitor. Wish I could send her to North Korea, or back in time to Stalin’s’ USSR or Mao’s China during the cultural revolution. Problem is, she most likely would enjoy it.

That White commie b-word should be fired.

Morons, morons everywhere. If the NPS can’t hire people with at least minimal intelligence and knowledge about whereof they speak, then close the exhibit — better that folks don’t get to see Independence Hall than be damaged by hearing the idiocy this grossly overpaid self-loather is spewing. What a disgrace!
The results of decades of Libtard education, now at work on your (and my) dime!

Clever the way the left have used our societies’ tax dollars and institutions to destroy our heritage and culture.
Last time I bought a leftist newspaper, even the word puzzles contained many leftist buzzwords.

Everything is political for the left and a means to advance the revolution.
    Every. Single. Thing.

Fire her immediately. She can take her Hillary loving ass to McDonalds and get a job polishing the robots.

The founders made that compromise because they knew they had to get the southern states into the Union, not only for their own survival, but in order to end slavery eventually. One of the earliest steps was the outlawing of slave importation in 1807.

Are there any public employees who aren’t the runts of every litter? Maybe in emergency services, but any other area of work, “civil service” means “hasn’t mastered basic skills.”

Of course, they’d say their outsized salaries are deserved, as they have devoted themselves to public service when they could be out earning bazillions in the private sector.

  19. Scuttlebuttin' says:

I believe the “cause” of such ridiculous remuneration are called public employee unions, and they are the most virulent blight on any landscape.

This wingnut has no business leading tour groups! Is that the kind of crap that she wants kids to grow up believing? No, she needs to be removed and put somewhere else; like in the far north section of Denali in Alaska. She can talk crap to all the grizzley’s that she wants! And hopefully they’ll chase her down and feast on her fat ass!

  21. KHarn says:

It’s not mentioned today that the NORTH was the section that didn’t want negroes counted at all; the South wanted them counted as “whole persons”.

  22. KHarn says:

The delay was to protect the New England slave-ship owners. The representative from Rhode Island predicted 40% unemployment without the slave trade.

Might sound a bit off topic but, if I were the guy that swears in the nominee, I would ask for their copy of the Constitution (like a cop asks for a driver’s DL)!

My point is this: to take the oath of office, before God and the nation, with left hand on the Bible and right hand at 90 degree angle upward, it is VERY serious!

Perfect example of a regressive Liberal after 6 years in college. Her degrees in bitterness and internet trolling means only the federal government would hire her. She should mind her P&Qs because the private sector wouldn’t pay her but minimum wage.
