Obama’s Internet Power Grab as Seen From Taiwan

The Taiwanese understand what Obama just did to the Internet:

Tragically, many people here still have no idea of what is being stolen from us; otherwise there would be rioting in the streets. By the time they figure it out, the free Internet will be gone forever.

Credit Where Due

Obama comes off as an adolescent punk far out of his league. But you can’t call him a failure:

Trey Gowdy Explains What Obama’s Amnesty Decree Means for Our Future as a Nation of Laws

Process matters, and Trey Gowdy makes it clear why as he lifts the lid on Obama’s use of “prosecutorial discretion” as a license to unconstitutionally rewrite immigration law:

Looks almost as if someone cut his mic in the middle of this. Small wonder. No responsible person could hear what Gowdy has to say and continue to support Obama.

University Features Giant Clitoris Statue

Sewanee, which is affiliated with the Episcopal Church, bills itself as the “University of the South.” Things there have gone south all right:

From Feb., 25 to March 11, a giant golden clitoris sculpture will be on display in Sewanee’s library to promote feminist artist Sophia Wallace’s “CLITERACY” project. Sewanee’s Women’s Center has promoted the event on social media with hashtags such as #SolidGoldClit and #yeaSEWANEEScliterate.

It isn’t just there to shock people; the giant clitoris is chock full of the heavy meaning that has largely replaced education:

“By occupying public space with information about women’s bodies, CLITERACY destigmatizes the information itself, facilitating open dialogue,” the event description states. “Wallace’s work reveals the “phallic as neutral” bias in science, law, philosophy, politics, mainstream and even feminist discussion, and the art world.”

But there is more to a modern education than self-important feminist malarkey. It can be fun too:

The giant golden clitoris is also a part of Wallace’s “clit rodeo,” an event where participants can take turns riding a mechanical clit instead of a bull.

As for the factual information that once played a significant role in college education…

“It’s appalling and shocking to think that scientifically, the clitoris was only discovered in 1998,” Wallace told The Huffington Post in 2013. “But really, it may as well have never been discovered at all because there’s still such ignorance when it comes to the female body.”

1998, huh? Maybe Muslims are comparatively advanced in the sciences after all. They have been subjecting women to clitoridectomies for centuries (warning: gruesome pictures).

1984 TV

Here’s a video report from our unfolding authoritarian future:

Today we filed a lawsuit in federal court on behalf of University of Massachusetts-Amherst student Thomas Donovan. The case is against Town of Amherst police officers, who Mr. Donovan alleges assaulted and falsely arrested him for videotaping police activity at the 2014 “Blarney Blowout,” an annual informal student celebration of St. Patrick’s Day and the arrival of spring.

At the event, which took place March 8, 2014, Mr. Donovan saw multiple police officers using what appeared to excessive force making an arrest. Mr. Donovan used his smartphone to record the arrest. Although Mr. Donovan was standing 20-30 feet from this scene, behind a chain link fence, an Amherst police officer in full riot gear approached him and demanded that he stop recording. When Mr. Donovan refused, another officer pepper sprayed him in the face.

A few seconds later, Amherst police sergeant Jesus Arocho tackled Mr. Donovan, knocking the phone out of his hand. The phone continued to record from the ground and captured another Amherst police officer repeatedly stomping on the phone in a failed attempt to destroy it.

The police are the good guys only so long as the government is good. Now that government has turned against us, it is only a matter of time until the police catch up.

Melissa Harris-Perry Proclaims That She Hopes Saint Skittles “Whooped the Sh**” Out of His Intended Victim

LANGUAGE ALERT: MSNBC propagandist Melissa Harris-Perry struggles valiantly with her speech impediment to express how she feels about the sainted thug Trayvon Martin pounding the “white” Hispanic George Zimmerman’s head on the sidewalk in an evident attempt to kill him — an attempt that was foiled only because Zimmerman was armed. The church setting is not sufficient to clean up her language.

“I hope he whooped the sh** out of George Zimmerman.”

Dick Durbin Compares Obama’s Illegal Alien Amnesty Decree to the Emancipation Proclamation, Denounces Constitution as “Fatally Flawed”

If American troops are the equivalent of Nazis and Khmer Rouge killers, then unconstitutionally voiding immigration law so as to swamp the country with Third World welfare colonists must be just like the Emancipation Proclamation — at least, according Democrats’ #2 man in the Senate, Dick Durbin:

“We celebrate that day 152 years ago when a Republican President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln, issued an executive order, an executive order, the Emancipation Proclamation, which freed 3 million slaves in America. It is proper that we celebrate that moment because America stepped forward because of that president’s courage and the use of his executive power.”

This comes in the context of Obama ignoring the law to grant amnesty to millions of illegal aliens. In this context, “courage” means “contemptuous arrogance.”

As for the Constitution that demands Obama faithfully execute the laws instead of governing as a dictator, Durbin opines:

“[I]f we view this document with honesty, we know that it was fatally flawed from the start.”

Yet he swore an oath to uphold it. Since he obviously has no intention of upholding a “fatally flawed” document, he should be removed from power at once — along with the rest of his kind.

Horror Even on the Left as Obama Takes a Grip on the Internet’s Throat

Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban has behaved like a moonbat in the past, and his public vocabulary leaves a lot to be desired, but he sure got it right when he said that Obama’s Internet power grab via the lawless FCC will “f*** everything up,” and that it “scares the sh**” out of him.

Even the Electronic Frontier Foundation, hardly a bastion of conservatism, is waking up enough to share that fear:

For many months, EFF has been working with a broad coalition of advocates to persuade the Federal Communications Commission to adopt new Open Internet rules that would survive legal scrutiny and actually help protect the Open Internet. Our message has been clear from the beginning: the FCC has a role to play, but its role must be firmly bounded.

The federal government limit its own power? What year do these people think it is, 1789? The purpose of any federal government controlled by progressives is to expand its power.

Two weeks ago, we learned that we had likely managed the first goal—the FCC is going to do the right thing and reclassify broadband as a telecommunications service, giving it the ability to make new, meaningful Open Internet rules. But we are deeply concerned that the FCC’s new rules will include a provision that sounds like a recipe for overreach and confusion: the so-called “general conduct rule.”

According to the FCC’s own “Fact Sheet,” the proposed rule will allow the FCC to review (and presumably punish) non-neutral practices that may “harm” consumers or edge providers.

Q: What does “harm” mean? A: Whatever federal bureauweenies want it to mean in any given situation. Vague laws (or in this case, vague Executive Branch decrees) are the building blocks of tyranny.

A little late, the EFF figures out the game:

As a practical matter, it is likely that only companies that can afford years of litigation to answer these questions will be able to rely on the rule at all. Third, a multi-factor test gives the FCC an awful lot of discretion, potentially giving an unfair advantage to parties with insider influence.

As with all things Hopey and Changey, the key term is oligarchical collectivism. You don’t need to actually be in the government to be part of the oligarchy; you just need a seat at the table. These seats are far out of the price range of the little people, who will be immediately hurt as reclassifying the Internet as a utility increases costs to consumers.

Orwell summed up oligarchical collectivism as “a boot stamping on a human face.” Why would anyone be in favor of this? In part because they think it is their boot, and someone else’s face. They don’t realize that in the end, even if you identify with the oligarchy, it is always someone else’s boot and your face.

Congrats to the EFF for belatedly beginning to figure it out. But then even Google, the quintessential aggressively leftist bastion of the Obamunist establishment, has gotten a clue:

[The FCC’s Internet power grab on behalf of Obama] even drew warnings from Google Inc., which told the White House privately it was making a mistake when President Barack Obama called in November for the approach the FCC adopted on Thursday.

That’s right, Google. Even if you get eaten last by the statist crocodile, you still get eaten, just like the rest of us.

FCC chairman Tom Wheeler, a.k.a. “Obama’s B*tch.”

Obama’s AR-15 Ammo Ban

As warned earlier, the Obama Regime has unilaterally banned common ammo for AR-15s.

Authoritarians in the government and media would have liked to impose a straightforward ban on these extremely popular general purpose sporting rifles, and they did their best by exploiting the Sandy Hook shootings to the last extreme of shamelessness. Characteristically, when the lawful approach didn’t work, Obama shoved the legislative branch aside and ruled by decree:

Obama is using executive actions to impose gun control on the nation, targeting the top-selling rifle in the country, the AR-15 style semi-automatic, with a ban on one of the most-used AR bullets by sportsmen and target shooters.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives this month revealed that it is proposing to put the ban on 5.56 mm ammo on a fast track, immediately driving up the price of the bullets…

At the risk of getting into the high weeds favored by bureauweenies, here is the Regime’s justification:

At issue is so-called “armor-piercing” ammunition, an exemption for those bullets mostly used for sport by AR-15 owners, and the recent popularity of pistol-style ARs that use the ammo.

The inexpensive 5.56 M855 ammo, commonly called lightgreen tips, have been exempt for years, as have higher-caliber ammunition that also easily pierces the type of soft armor worn by police, because it’s mostly used by target shooters, not criminals. The agency proposes to reclassify it as armor-piercing and not exempt.

But now BATFE says that since the bullets can be used in semi-automatic handguns they pose a threat to police and must be banned from production, sale and use.

Even by the standard of authoritarian pretexts, this is as thin as wet toilet paper.

Even some police don’t buy the administration’s claim. “Criminals aren’t going to go out and buy a $1,000 AR pistol,” Brent Ball, owner of 417 Guns in Springfield, Mo., and a 17-year veteran police officer told the Springfield News-Leader. “As a police officer I’m not worried about AR pistols because you can see them. It’s the small gun in a guy’s hand you can’t see that kills you.”

Bottom line:

Many see the bullet ban as an assault on the AR-15 and Obama’s back-door bid to end production and sale.

When the 5.56mm ban fails to put an end to the iconic (and distinctively American) AR-15’s popularity, the regime will ban other calibers. As with Britain’s incremental ban on handguns, we will soon be left with nothing but .22; then they will take that away.

Unless of course we can stop them. A starting point would be to loudly remind our rulers of this:

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

A government that does not honor the Constitution has no legitimate authority.

Affirmative Action Applied to SAT Scores

In a totalitarian society, there are no objective measures. All data is distorted to reinforce the official ideology. Falsified temperature data meant to prop up the global warming hoax is one example. Adding points to SAT scores to reward persons of politically preferred pigmentation is another:

In a windowless classroom at an Arcadia tutoring center, parents crammed into child-sized desks and dug through their pockets and purses for pens as Ann Lee launches a PowerPoint presentation.

Her primer on college admissions begins with the basics: application deadlines, the relative virtues of the SAT versus the ACT and how many Advanced Placement tests to take.

Then she eases into a potentially incendiary topic — one that many counselors like her have learned they cannot avoid.

“Let’s talk about Asians,” she says.

Lee’s next slide shows three columns of numbers from a Princeton University study that tried to measure how race and ethnicity affect admissions by using SAT scores as a benchmark. It uses the term “bonus” to describe how many extra SAT points an applicant’s race is worth. She points to the first column.

African Americans received a “bonus” of 230 points, Lee says.

She points to the second column.

“Hispanics received a bonus of 185 points.”

The last column draws gasps.

Asian Americans, Lee says, are penalized by 50 points — in other words, they had to do that much better to win admission.

Why does the system penalize Asians? Because they tend to have higher IQs than other ethnicities, work harder, and have a higher regard for education. That is, they are more likely to belong in college, therefore the progressives in charge make it harder for them to get in.

Liberals manage to always be wrong about everything by making perversity their first principle.

Under liberalism, every street intersects with politics.

Race Politics and Urban Renewal in Brooklyn

Everything in Hopey Change America revolves around leftist politics. That means it revolves around race, which can make things difficult for the developers who have been reclaiming Brooklyn from the ghetto:

The Key Food on Lafayette Avenue between Saint James Place and Classon Avenue [in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn] is set to close within the next two months in order to make way for an eight-story residential building. The landlord said he will try to bring a supermarket back once the project is finished, and state Sen. Velmanette Montgomery (D–Clinton Hill) demanded he make sure he finds an operator that will continue serving neighbors of color, who she claimed have different grocery needs than whites.

“Supermarkets are an important part of the community. It’s an important amenity, especially for black and brown communities,” she said.

Whether whites also use supermarkets is irrelevant; giving a thought to the needs of whites is a thought crime in our society.

To the horror of some, whites made up 41% of the Clinton Hill population in the 2010 Census, compared to 19% in 2000. Upper East Side resident Spike Lee isn’t liking it.

There is a C-Town supermarket only two blocks away. But that is regarded as too far to walk. So the owners of the property had better put in a supermarket that meets perceived black and brown needs, or there will be political consequences.

Velmanette Montgomery issues demands.

Liberal Newspeak to Plain English Translation Table

Using George Orwell’s 1984 as an instruction manual, today’s oligarchical collectivists have reduced language to a tool for implementing their agenda. The politically correct doubletalk that serves them as language obscures the actual meaning of what they are saying because it is specifically intended to.

You can translate their pernicious malarkey into plain English with the help of a handy online translation table. A few sample entries:

When they say… They really mean…
multiculturalism, diversity, fairness, equity, inclusion, inclusiveness, opportunity, empowerment racial quotas, discrimination against whites, special rights and preferential treatment for protected minorities, the exclusion of white males
reproductive rights, choice, reproductive choice, reproductive freedom, reproductive health care, fetal rights, women’s rights abortion, fetal homicide
edgy, irreverent, pushing the envelope, cutting edge, hip, bold, smart, sophisticated, offbeat compliments used to describe vulgar, offensive, profane, brazen, blasphemous or obscene entertainment venues, TV programs, movies or Hollywood personalities

Moonbats have good reason for talking in euphemisms. Their ideology expressed in honest terms would repel any rational person.
