Decay works fast. America went from being governed by great men like Thomas Jefferson to being ruined by rubbish like Bill de Blasio in only a little over 2 centuries. In an emblematic triumph of the worst over the best, the mayor who has overseen NYC’s precipitous decline is now canceling the author of the Declaration of Independence.

The mayor, who has just three months left in office, is quietly banishing a statue of Thomas Jefferson from City Hall’s Council chambers — where it has resided for the past 187 years, The Post has learned. …

The planned move comes after the mayor charged his wife, first lady Chirlane McCray, with deciding the sculpture’s fate as head of the Commission on Racial Justice and Reconciliation.

De Blasio’s wife is a black former lesbian poetess with an excessively large staff who wasted or embezzled $1.8 billion of taxpayer money that was ostensibly devoted to curing mental illness through ThriveNYC.

The historic Jefferson statue has been offloaded to the New York Historical Society, without public debate.

“The city would still own the plaster model, and the historical society would include it in educational exhibits and provide valuable historical context,” a mayoral spokesman said.

“Valuable historical context” means that if TJ is displayed, it will be in the role of Emmanuel Goldstein for a woke version of the Two Minutes Hate. The Founding Father will be denounced as a racist.

Meanwhile, a replica of the statue by sculptor Pierre-Jean David is still on display in the Capitol Rotunda in Washington, DC.

Biden’s handlers are of de Blasio’s caliber, so the replica is living on borrowed time.

Revisionists’ efforts are in vain. Long after leftists have destroyed America, and the world slips back into the tyranny, poverty, misery, and darkness from which heroes like Jefferson briefly rescued part of it, his name will be revered. No one will remember Bill de Blasio or his wife.

New York State Sen. Brad Hoylman-Sigal introduced legislation Wednesday to change the name of Donald J. Trump State Park, which straddles Westchester and Putnam Counties.

The park was named after Trump for good reason:

The park was established in 2006 when former President Donald Trump donated 436 acres of land to the state.

However, Trump’s name anywhere cannot be tolerated because tolerance:

“New York State has always been known for its history of welcoming and embracing people of all cultures and backgrounds. Even our park system reflects these values,” wrote lawmakers in the bill. “The names of these parks and green spaces should embody the goals of uplifting, and unifying New Yorkers.”

Except for the millions of New Yorkers who disagree with Democrats.

Maybe Trump wouldn’t want his name on this park anyway:

Maintenance at the park was suspended in 2010 due to budget cuts. Since then, the park has remained in a state of disrepair.

As the state decays, New York’s Democrat rulers will shower $10 billion upon illegal aliens in 2023.

Democrats offer totalitarian intolerance, petty vindictiveness, surreal extremes of hypocrisy, and dysfunctional mismanagement. This story showcases all four traits.

To destroy a nation, you have to turn it against its own heritage. You have to tear down its greatest heroes. This is why the Black Lives Matter riots prominently featured the destruction of statues of the Founding Fathers. It is why Monticello — long preserved as a shrine to the greatness of the author of the Declaration of Independence — is now being used by America’s enemies to propagandize against its creator Thomas Jefferson:

The new emphasis is the culmination of a 10-year effort to balance the historical record, officials of the Thomas Jefferson Foundation, the nonprofit that owns the estate, have said.

But visitors complain that employees go out of their way to belittle Jefferson and his life.

Jefferson has been targeted for erasure on the grounds that he took part in a society that did not comply with 21st standards of political correctness. Like the rest of the landowners in 18th century Virginia, he had slaves.

Already his statue has been expelled from New York City Council by Bill de Blasio after nearly 2 centuries. Now they have transformed Monticello into a soapbox from which to denounce him, rendering the monument pointless.

The propaganda is executed with the subtlety we have come to expect of progressives. The ticket booth in the visitor’s center is “decorated with a contemporary painting of Jefferson’s weeping slaves.” Exhibits focus on Sally Hemings, a mixed race slave with whom Jefferson allegedly had children. If liberals prevail, this possibly fictional relationship is all that will be remembered about him.

Upon entering the mansion, visitors are confronted by a gigantic modern painting of a faceless black man. It was commissioned in honor of “Juneteenth.” Smirks Monticello guide Susan Woodward,

“It’s quite provocative, I do believe.”

The book shop features the excretions of proponents of critical race theory Ibram X. Kendi and Ta-Nehisi Coates. How provocative.

The message that Jefferson owned slaves and was therefore a bad man is ubiquitous. Visitors are also belligerently reminded that Monticello was built on land where sacred savages once roamed happy and free, before evil white people like Jefferson came to oppress them.

This will surprise no one:

The Thomas Jefferson Foundation is run by a roster of big-money Dem donors and former Democratic officials…

The foundation is chaired by Melody Barnes, former assistant to Barack Obama and director of the White House Domestic Policy Council, who has griped in WaPo about all the nice things people say about that scoundrel Thomas Jefferson.

Allowing leftists to take over Monticello is like putting satanists in charge of the Vatican.

In New York City, health officials plan to set up vending machines to provide drug addicts with needles to inject poison and naloxone to keep them alive for a little longer when they inject too much. This is done at taxpayer expense, and justified with critical race theory rhetoric.

The New York Post reports:

“Public health vending machines (PHVM) are an emerging strategy to support low-barrier access to naloxone, sterile syringes, and other harm reduction and wellness supplies,” reads the RFP for the machines, which will cost taxpayers $730,000.

Only in the Orwellian Twilight Zone of liberal rule could helping junkies to destroy themselves be characterized as “harm reduction” and “wellness.”

More from the RFP:

“[The Department of Health and Mental Hygiene] is committed to improving health outcomes for all New Yorkers by explicitly advancing racial equity and social justice. Racial equity does not mean simply treating everyone equally, but rather, allocating resources and services in such a way that explicitly addresses barriers imposed by structural racism (i.e. policies and institutional practices that perpetuate racial inequity) and White privilege.”

Since not forcing taxpayers to enable the junkie lifestyle allows there to be white privilege, anyone who protests that encouraging drug addicts is insane can be accused of racism — i.e., of not hating whites, the ultimate faux pas among the liberal establishment.

Black Lives Matter has been outflanked on the left:

“I’d be for these vending machines if they promise to put them in Central Park, Fifth Avenue and Park Avenue — right where the wealthiest people stay,” said Hawk Newsome, the incendiary leader of Black Lives Matter in New York City. “Why should our children have to walk past people who are congregating around these machines and nowhere else.”

Even Black Lives Matter is less evil than New York City bureaucrats. The departure of Bill de Blasio is certainly welcome but unlikely to change much, now that the city has entered the same Democrat death spiral as Detroit before it.

An embattled shelter and services provider that has been repeatedly lit up for failing to address the homeless situation at Penn Station blew city money on a booze cruise, fast food, and movie tickets for its staff, according to an audit.

Bowery Residents’ Committee charged the city at least $2,653 for the $36,510 catered boat ride, along with $1.4 million in other expenses that were either unsupported or not allowed, the audit by state Comptroller Tom DiNapoli’s office found.

Waste has to be brazen in the extreme for bureauweenies to notice it in the blizzard of waste that is NYC. No doubt homeless services providers wallow luxuriantly in a culture of living like czars on money expropriated from taxpayers in the name of politically sacred derelicts.

BRC’s work at MTA [Metropolitan Transportation Authority] hubs including Penn Station was previously called “very expensive” and “minimally effective” by the MTA Inspector General.

That sums up every attempt to address homelessness that does not entail making homelessness a nonviable lifestyle.

The non-profit held $527 million in city homeless service contracts as of 2019.

Half a $billion wasted, largely on graft. At least New Yorkers can be thankful that their money didn’t go to the homeless, enabling them in their life choices and thereby creating more of them.

The State Comptroller’s audit is the latest black eye for de Blasio’s Department of Homeless Services, whose oversight of $16 billion in contracts over Hizzoner’s tenure has come under repeated scrutiny.

Tracking down the $900 million entrusted to de Blasio’s lesbian poet wife Chirlane McCray to address mental illness through ThriveNYC will prove more challenging, as most of it probably found its way into a Swiss bank account.

Under Democrat rule, parents who speak out against leftist education policy must fear the FBI. In New York, parent leaders who join school boards and stray from woke ideology will be brought to heel by the Equity Compliance Officer.

Mayor Bill de Blasio is pushing through a rule that will allow Department of Education educrats to remove parents from Community Education Councils (i.e., school boards) if they voice criticism.

The New York Post reports:

The Panel for Education Policy will vote on this Orwellian proposal Dec. 21 — not a historically high parent-participation date.

Chancellor’s Regulation D-210 would skirt the democratic process and give the DOE sweeping power to silence parents. It relies on vague language to determine “violations of conduct” and, more disturbing, establishes yet another administrative position to monitor parents: the equity-compliance officer. This (no doubt expensive) bureaucrat would be charged with deciding who to target for removal for violating the newly expanded “code of conduct.”

Too bad Lavrenty Beria or Felix Dzerzhinsky didn’t live in New York City in 2021. They would have made great Equity Compliance Officers.

One section says council members cannot engage in “frequent verbal abuse and unnecessary aggressive speech” with others.

Of course not. That would constitute a terrorist threat.

School board members are to be removed on an arbitrary basis on the claim that their conduct is “contrary to the best interest of the New York City school district” or “creates or would foreseeably create a risk of disruption within the district or school community.” This is not limited to conduct at CEC meetings.

The dystopian science fiction novel New Yorkers are living in does not strive for subtlety:

[A]n Equity Council, a team of DOE-appointed apparatchiks, would be tasked with providing recommendations on the resolutions of complaints — in other words who to remove and silence. The regulation ominously says that “in the event of a disagreement between the Equity Compliance Officer and the Equity Council, the recommendation of the Equity Compliance Officer shall govern.”

For now, it does not appear that the Equity Compliance Officer will be vested with authority to perform summary executions.

Here’s why the new rule is necessary:

Tellingly, it is being proposed right after parents were finally able to vote directly for CEC members and “flipped” some councils by electing several members critical of DOE policies who are very vocal about holding their districts accountable.

Parents have beefs about racist indoctrination, the abolition of academic standards and advanced programs in the name of equity, and sadistic Covid muzzle policies. Rather than debate these issues, Democrats characteristically aim to silence the troublemakers.

In New York nowadays, criminals are one constituency that is represented by the lowlifes in charge at both the city and state level.

At the city level,

In July 2020, following the George Floyd riots, Mayor Bill de Blasio disbanded the NYPD’s anti-crime unit, which led to a sharp rise in murders and shootings across Gotham. In response, Hizzoner called a news conference in Harlem in which he vowed to address crime’s “root causes.”

Brace yourself. The only thing more devastating than the problems Democrats create is their solutions to those problems.

Through an outfit called Advance Peace, the city will offer a stipend of $1,000 per month (“transformational opportunities”) to “young men ­involved in lethal firearm ­offenses,” at the same time pairing them with “neighborhood change agents” [this apparently means older ex-cons] — “credible messengers, meaning they bring life experience, conflict mediation and mentorship skills to the target population.”

A stipend for criminals, financed with money taken by force from people who are not criminals. We are reaching peak liberalism.

At the state level,

Days after giving two weeks’ notice that he would resign his office amid a serial sexual harassment scandal, Gov. Andrew Cuomo is using the unprecedented lame-duck period to grant clemency and pardons to 10 felons — including three convicts tied to killings.

With friends in high places, you can get away with murder. Every criminal has friends in high places with Democrats in charge.

Cuomo and de Blasio will be off the stage soon. But they are effects, not causes, of the disease killing New York. Both will be replaced by other leftists just as bad or — if this is even conceivable — still worse.

Behold the culture that is being created in place of civilization:

[Aaron Garcia] has been busted in the terrifying, caught-on-camera hatchet attack on an ATM customer in Lower Manhattan — and is also suspected in two other incidents involving strangers earlier this month, law-enforcement sources said Wednesday. …

Shocking surveillance video from Sunday’s attack allegedly shows Garcia using a hatchet to repeatedly slash a 51-year-man during an unprovoked, sneak assault that began when the victim was using an ATM machine around 5:20 p.m. …

At one point, Garcia is allegedly seen bringing the hatchet down on the already bloodied victim’s head during the unrelenting rampage.

Garcia then allegedly smashed the screens of the ATM machines before leaving the hatchet behind when he fled the scene, cops said.

If he shouted “Black Lives Matter” while wreaking righteous vengeance on these symbols of capitalism, expect a pardon from Cuomo’s successor.

Another current New York story:

A stranger pummeled a 32-year-old man in a Brooklyn subway station over the weekend — breaking bones in his face, new video released by police shows.

The assailant — whom the victim did not know — approached him inside the Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center station at 6:50 p.m. Sunday and socked him in the face multiple times, authorities said. …

Police are still looking for the suspect.

It won’t help that he was conveniently wearing a Covid mask. At least the respective skin tones of assailant and victim offer a clue as to the motive.

The progressives who run both the government and the media egg on and glorify criminals and the behavior that defines them. The results are inevitable.

Meanwhile, as New York City disintegrates into anarchy, Mayor Bill de Blasio is doing his part to exploit the racially irrelevant shootings in Atlanta by deploying speech police:

Bill de Blasio said the NYPD could visit those accused of racism or discrimination, “even if something is not a criminal case.” The exchange happened near the end of the “media availability” event when a Washington Post reporter questioned de Blasio about his response to reports of racism, specifically toward Asian Americans over the course of the global COVID-19 pandemic.

The idea that “white supremacists” are targeting Asians is the liberal establishment media’s false narrative du jour. In reality, if there has been a rise in violence against Asians, it was caused not by Trump saying “China virus,” but by the collapse of law and order in the face of Black Lives Matter. That’s why most of the perpetrators are black.

Never mind reality. Let’s return to the pseudo-world fabricated by Democrat politicians with help from the media. Yaps de Blasio:

“And my message to all New Yorkers and particularly to Asian American New Yorkers at this point, is please report what you see. We need it. We need to know what’s happening. We need to know if you’ve been treated wrongly. If you’ve been a victim of discrimination, if you have been a victim of a hate crime, if you’ve been a victim of violence based on who you are, we need to know about [it] immediately.”

What if it’s not actually a crime, but just some statement that could be construed as insensitive? Call the cops anyway, says de Blasio:

“One of the things officers are trained to do is to give warnings. If someone has done something wrong, but not rising to a criminal level, it’s perfectly appropriate for an NYPD officer to talk to them to say that was not appropriate. … I assure you if an NYPD officer calls you or shows up at your door to ask about something that you did, that makes people think twice. And we need that.”

That is, we need the police to intimidate people over accusations of political incorrectness.

De Blasio boasts that his administration has been creating “a new policy to widen the definition of what would qualify as hate crimes.” It is already illegal to say “illegal alien” in New York City. Soon the cops may do more than put a scare in you if a neighbor rats you out for calling COVID-19 the China virus.

Asians make more money than whites in this country. They are systematically discriminated against through Affirmative Action. Keeping them in the Democrat cultural Marxist coalition won’t be easy. That’s why the media/Democrats reacted to the Atlanta shootings with such a hysterical barrage of lies.

Of course, authoritarians like de Blasio will also welcome any opportunity to restrict free speech.

You know the Left has gone off the rails when premier race hustler Al Sharpton emerges as a relative voice of reason. While Bill de Blasio et al defund the police, driving the crime rate into the stratosphere, Sharpton demurs:

“To take all policing off is something that I think a latte liberal may go for as they sit around the Hamptons discussing this as some academic problem,” Sharpton said.

“But people living on the ground need proper policing,” he said.

Specifically regarding New York City,

Sharpton noted how certain neighborhoods are indeed suffering from gun violence when asked about the safety of the city.

That would mainly be black neighborhoods. Blacks are the first victims of the antipolice Black Lives Matter ideology that has been embraced by the liberal establishment.

Restaurants in New York State are allowed to open now, but they have to limit dining rooms to 50% capacity and follow distancing mandates. In New York City, indoor dining is completely forbidden, despite the virus having mostly moved on. Governor Cuomo says that the police would need to devote 4,000 officers to enforcing social distancing compliance in restaurants before indoor dining will be allowed, which won’t be easy, considering that de Blasio has defunded the NYPD by $1 billion in honor of Black Lives Matter. At least it isn’t too cold for indoor dining yet. But that has drawbacks in the age of BLM, as diners in upstate Rochester can tell you:

Dangerous protesters converged on Rochester, New York, for the third night in a row following the release of the footage showing local authorities arresting Daniel Prude.

Daniel Prude is a maniac who was running around naked, evidently out of his mind on drugs. He died after having been detained by the police, who had to put a spit hood on him.

An autopsy report from the Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office determined that Prude died as a result of “complications of asphyxia in the setting of physical restraint due to excited delirium due to acute phencyclidine intoxication,” which is “an indication that Prude might have been high on PCP.”

Since he happened to be black, this is grounds for still more riots. The following video demonstrates what this means for normal people trying to eat out. This is not a trailer for a zombie apocalypse movie, but actual footage of BLM militants terrorizing diners in Rochester:

Rioters later also reportedly began taking to residential areas, and could be seen climbing on roofs. Demonstrators reportedly set fire to at least one city bus stop during the overnight melee.

Another video sees at least one demonstrator insisting that any protest efforts be aimed “toward the white folks.”

Democrats are counting on people thinking that they can appease this mob by voting for the party that has made a pageant of endorsing it. But anyone who remembers grade school knows that trying to appease bullies only results in more bullying.
