They say even a blind squirrel sometimes finds a nut. Rachel Maddow hasn’t found one yet, but at least she asked a good question. She wondered aloud on her MSNBC show why we can land the Perseverance on Mars, but cannot keep the heat and lights on in Texas:

“We can send a rover to a planet 300 million miles away, and land it like a feather,” Maddow said. “We can create oxygen over there. We can fly mini helicopters in the Martian sky that work for us and send us things…but we can’t provide water and power to people in Texas when it’s cold.”

This is all the more baffling when you consider that Texas is a major energy producer.

The answer to the mystery is that the Perseverance is not required for political reasons to rely on wind power. The Wall Street Journal spells it out:

Between 12 a.m. on Feb. 8 and Feb. 16, wind power plunged 93% while coal increased 47% and gas 450%, according to the EIA. Yet the renewable industry and its media mouthpieces are tarring gas, coal and nuclear because they didn’t operate at 100% of their expected potential during the Arctic blast even though wind turbines failed nearly 100%.

The policy point here is that an electricity grid that depends increasingly on subsidized but unreliable wind and solar needs baseload power to weather surges in demand. …

Politicians and regulators don’t want to admit this because they have been taking nuclear and coal plants offline to please the lords of climate change. But the public pays the price when blackouts occur because climate obeisance has made the grid too fragile.

Unfortunately, Maddow and the rest of the liberal media don’t want the mystery solved. They would rather pretend that fossil fuels caused the blackouts, just as global warming caused it to be so cold.

The New York Times is the flagship publication of the liberal establishment. Generations have passed since it could be taken seriously as an objective source of information. Times reporter Walter Duranty started propagandizing on behalf of the Soviet Union over a century ago. He received a Pulitzer for hiding Stalin’s atrocities from the public; the NY Times refuses to disavow the prize to this day. Yet not even the Shady Gray Lady is biased enough to suit other propaganda platforms in the increasingly radicalized — and increasingly desperate — “mainstream” media.

Gripes CNN:

The Times has been far too distracted as of late by worries over President Joe Biden’s age, allowing it to steal attention away from the larger and far more serious danger posed by a second Trump administration.

That is, the danger to the liberal agenda.

Media moonbats are especially enraged that the NY Times put out a poll admitting that the American people do not like Joe Biden. The poll complicates Democrat strategy by confirming that Biden is likely to lose a fair election.

Hilariously, the conspicuously far-left NY Times is accused of conservative bias for touching on the topic of Biden’s obvious decrepitude and senility:

“That they even asked this question [i.e., whether Biden is too old] is evidence of the bias — the agenda — in their poll,” Jeff Jarvis, the Leonard Tow Professor of Journalism Innovation at the CUNY Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism, posted on Threads.

CNN even criticizes itself for not being sufficiently devoted to suppressing information that undermines the Democrat party line:

CNN and MSNBC can’t even seem to arrive at a firm policy over how to cover Trump’s live remarks (at times, both networks have boasted about how they don’t air his lie-filled speeches live, and at other times, such as on Monday, they both did just that).

No doubt letting the public hear the speeches of the opposition candidate would constitute conservative bias.

Moonbats can largely avoid hearing the opposing point of view by sticking to MSNBC. Following Trump mopping up on Super Tuesday, its election panel quickly cut away from his victory speech:

[Militant moonbat Rachel] Maddow was unapologetic about her network’s deliberate decision to cut off the former president’s speech. …

“I will say that it is a decision that we revisit constantly in terms of the balance between allowing somebody to knowingly lie on your air about things they’ve lied about before and you can predict they are going to lie about,” Maddow explained.

“And so, therefore, it is just irresponsible to allow them to do that.”

It is “irresponsible” to allow the public to hear what one of the two presidential candidates has to say, because if the opponent says it, it must be a lie.

A legitimate news source would let us hear the speech, then fact check it for inaccuracies. However, the purpose of the liberal media is not to inform but to provide an echo chamber, egging on liberals to climb ever further out on a limb.

When Trump wins, the limb will break and dump them to the ground — provided we have a fair election.

Bad penny Chris Cuomo has turned up again after getting fired by CNN for failing to meet its meager standards of journalistic integrity. Not many noticed though.

Cuomo returned to prime-time cable news Monday night as the host of Cuomo on NewsNation with only 147,000 total viewers, according to cable news ratings. …

Cuomo’s new show flopped among the key 25-54 demographic with just 8,000 viewers behind Fox News, CNN, MSNBC, and Newsmax.

Additionally, syndicated show reruns, such as Paw Patrol, SpongeBob, and Seinfeld, reportedly drew a greater audience among the 25-54 demographic and among total viewers.

More people may have seen Cuomo on Tucker Carlson’s show than on CNN. Who could forget the theatrical emergence from his phony Covid quarantine?

Tucker enjoyed poking fun at Cuomo’s conspicuous narcissism:

Currently, Tucker Carlson has more than 20 times as many viewers as Chris Cuomo.

Cuomo gets the last laugh though; even if no one wants to watch him, NewsNation is reportedly paying him $1 million per year.

The leftist system of government is anarchotyranny. This entails a two-tiered system of justice: one to punish the innocent, the other to exonerate the guilty.

On some, authorities come down hard:

New York state Attorney General Letitia James on Wednesday announced she is suing former President Donald Trump and three of his children for fraud stemming from her long-running civil investigation into the Trump Organization’s business dealings.

The entire liberal establishment has focused on bringing down Trump for years. The best they could come up with is the Russian collusion hoax. But as the Mar-a-Lago raid demonstrates, they will never stop trying, so long as they regard him as a threat.

In addition to Trump, the additional defendants named in the lawsuit include his three eldest children (Donald Jr., Ivanka and Eric)…

They must be regarded as politically threatening too. Or maybe James is going after his kids out of sheer malice.

“Mr. Trump and the Trump Organization repeatedly and persistently manipulated the value of assets to induce banks to lend money to the Trump Organization on more favorable terms than would otherwise have been available to the company, to pay lower taxes, to satisfy continuing loan agreements and to induce insurance companies to provide insurance coverage for higher limits and at lower premiums,” James said during the remarks, which came after the 222-page civil complaint was filed in New York Supreme Court on Wednesday morning.

Disputing past estimates of the values of assets is not as spectacular as accusations concerning Russian collusion, insurrection, and nuclear secrets, but Democrats will settle for anything they can make stick at this point.

So many senseless laws have accrued, it is said the average American commits three felonies per day. Surely they can pin something on Trump.

The New York attorney general said she is making a criminal referral to the Internal Revenue Service and the Southern District of New York.

The Democrat strategy is to criminalize opponents, then dispatch government agents to drag them off to prison, as in banana republics.

Compare that to the carte blanche offered to known criminals:

House Democrats on Tuesday blocked an inquiry into 150 reports of suspicious financial activity surrounding the international business dealings of Hunter Biden and other Biden family members, which Republicans said could compromise President Joe Biden.

The Biden family has engaged in criminal activity for years, arrogantly secure in the knowledge that powerful Democrats are above the law.

Republicans on the committee requested that the Treasury Department provide about 150 suspicious activity reports, called SARs, from banks about the Biden family’s financial activity. Such information had been available upon request to members of Congress, but the Biden Treasury Department reversed the policy and refused to comply with the request, [Rep. James] Comer [R-KY] said.

You might as well ask the Injustice Department to investigate the Bidens.

Guilt and innocence are irrelevant now. All that matters is whether you are associated with the ruling class or its opposition. This has induced otherwise sane people to identify as Democrats.

We all deserve better, because as the Texas freeze demonstrated, politically correct energy sources cannot meet our needs.

As for Joe Gains getting a job making vastly less efficient solar panels, as Climate Czar John Kerry suggests, he may have to learn Chinese first, since these are mostly made, possibly by slave labor, behind the Bamboo Curtain.
