The liberal establishment insidiously exploits sports media to inculcate moonbat ideology into audiences that let down their intellectual defenses because they are not expecting politics. The most egregious examples are ESPN (e.g., here, here, here, here, here) and Sports Illustrated. The former has Disney’s vast fortunes behind it. The latter is learning the truth of the maxim “Get woke, go broke”:

The Arena Group – which publishes Sports Illustrated – has informed employees that a ‘significant number, possibly all, of the Guild-represented workers at SI’ will be laid off.

No wonder moonbats hate capitalism. It forces you to acknowledge how the numbers add up. SI’s numbers add up to doom:

It comes as a result of Authentic Brands Group (ABG), the group that purchased Sports Illustrated for $110million in 2019, ending its agreement with Arena to publish in both print and digital.

Arena missed a $2.8m payment as part of the licensing agreement three weeks ago.

This comes in the aftermath of SI reportedly using AI to write its material. More devastating to the brand has been the focus on force-feeding moonbattery.

The formerly iconic swimsuit issue has repeatedly featured on its cover men posing as women in gag-inducing attempts to seduce readers into LGBTism.

The leftist publication has informed readers that coaches exercising their First Amendment rights by praying to God constitute an “erosion of a bedrock of American democracy.”

It has been pushing the global warming hoax for years, even screeching that the imaginary climate crisis is killing football players; as with all global catastrophes, politically favored blacks are “disproportionately affected.”

Trust the free market to provide alternatives that stick to sports.

“Progress” must always progress. That means the moonbats at SI have to keep upping the ante on wokeness. The current state of the art in political correctness entails featuring a guy who calls himself Leyna Bloom. In addition to being transsexual, he is not only nonwhite but mixed race:

What historic first will next year’s swimsuit issue offer? I’m guessing a transgender person of color who happens to be otherly abled due to conspicuous birth defects.

If anyone still buys this, it won’t be to look at the pictures, but to virtue signal political correctness. Nothing is for sheer enjoyment in a country under the thumb of a totalitarian ideology.

In better days, National Geographic could be found in every waiting room. But like other iconic publications (e.g., Sports Illustrated), it has fallen into decline. Nat Geo had to lay off all its staff writers and was pulled from newsstands. Why don’t people read it anymore? Because it is run by the sort of tasteless and obnoxious moonbats who would name drag queen Pattie Gonia a Traveler of the Year:

Pattie Gonia is a self-described “intersectional environmentalist, drag queen, and advocate for inclusivity in the outdoors” who works to “uplift LGBTQIA+ people and other underrepresented groups in the outdoors.”

We previously encountered Mr. Gonia when he was involved in a promotion of the LGBT agenda by the Democrat-controlled National Park Service.

The federal government can get away with ramming a depraved sexual agenda down the public’s throat because government is force. In contrast, nongovernmental entities have to interact with us on a voluntary basis, so repeatedly poking us in the eye sometimes has consequences.

That could be bad news for North Face, assuming any non-moonbats buy its products:

‘Hi, it’s me, Pattie Gonia, a real-life homosexual,” the activist says in a video for the 2023 North Face “Summer of Pride” campaign.

The issue is never the issue; the issue is always moonbattery — which Mr. Gonia repulsively personifies:

[Gonia] co-founded The Outdoorist Oath… The organization asks members to take an oath, which includes acknowledging climate change, committing to advocacy for environmental justice, and recognizing “that systemic oppression is real and that hatred, discrimination, and biases marginalize people.”

Outdoorist Oath seeks to promote inclusivity and raises awareness about conduct like “microaggressions in the outdoors.” The organization hosts activism workshops called “Stretch Sessions,” including sessions on white supremacy.

The global warming hoax, sexual depravity, transsexualism, Cultural Marxism, hatred of Caucasians — it is all one thing: moonbattery.

Underscoring that moonbattery is not merely foolish and nauseating but demonic, Outdoorist Oath came out with a statement in support of Hamas following the horrific terror atrocities of October 7. Maybe that’s what won over National Geographic.

Majority ownership of National Geographic is unsurprisingly held by Disney, which is evil.

As Canada slides deeper into totalitarianism, the liberals in charge are ever less willing to tolerate dissidents like clinical psychologist, professor emeritus, and online educator Jordan Peterson. Mary Anastasia O’Grady sounds the alarm:

According to Ontario court documents, he’s been the subject of complaints since 2018 about his public statements “on topics of social and political interest, including transgender questions, racism, overpopulation, and the response to COVID-19, among others.” The complainers—none of whom seem ever to have been his patients—mainly tweeted their objections to the provincial licensing board known as the College of Psychologists of Ontario.

Ostensibly,

The board’s job is to regulate for competence, not for political views.

However, the board is part of the liberal establishment. That means its true primary purpose is to impose leftism.

In March 2020, the board warned Peterson about his “manner and tone.” Then…

In August 2022 the board wrote to Mr. Peterson on behalf of its panel of investigators about his “demeaning, degrading and unprofessional” public statements and the “harm” they could cause people. He could solve the problem, the bureaucrats said, if he would agree to attend a re-education camp of its choosing.

Peterson’s allegedly problematic manner and tone are generally thoughtful and professorial. But he is no coward. He declined to submit to demeaning political indoctrination. The board proclaimed that this refusal “may constitute professional misconduct.”

Canadian courts sided with the board, meaning that he might lose his professional credentials over thoughtcrime like this:

Court documents cite instances of name-calling politicians and his refusal to use pronouns other than those that correspond to biological sex. In May 2022, court documents say, “he commented on a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition cover with a plus-sized model, tweeting: ‘Sorry. Not Beautiful. And no amount of authoritarian tolerance is going to change that.’”

Liberals helpfully underscored his point by attempting to silence him.

The establishment’s main problem with Peterson is not that he is an articulate opponent of its ideology, but that he is unwilling to cower in submission.

This makes him a problem for the mob and a danger to a system that relies on cultural repression to advance its agenda.

In a free society, even those who disagree with Peterson would acknowledge his right to his opinion. Canada — the moribund canary in the coalmine of moonbattery — is not a free society.

At first glance, it is hard to see what is so controversial about Jordan Peterson. He is a soft-spoken psychologist who provides common sense self-help advice to young men. His political views are not extreme. However, his refusal to recite “2 + 2 = 5” on orders from the thought police got him kicked off Twitter under its previous ownership. Now, he has been sentenced to reeducation camp for criticizing Canada’s leftist government:

The College of Psychologists of Ontario ordered the best-selling author and Daily Wire+ host to undergo “social media communications retraining” or face a hearing on the potential suspension of his license.

Characteristically,

Peterson vowed not to participate in the process and decried the effort to stifle free speech.

That’s the attitude that got him in trouble in the first place.

Peterson wrote an open letter to Canada’s squishy soft pretty boy despot, Justin Trudeau:

“I simply cannot resign myself to the fact that in my lifetime I am required to resort to a public letter to the leader of my country to point out that political criticism has now become such a crime in Canada that if professionals dare engage in such activity, government-appointed commissars will threaten their livelihood and present them with the spectacle of denouncement and political disgrace,” Peterson wrote. “There is simply and utterly no excuse whatsoever for such a state of affairs in a free country.”

By “free country,” he must mean “soft tyranny.” When soft inevitably transitions to hard, people like Peterson will end up in gulags or face firing squads instead of having their licenses suspended.

His crimes:

Peterson’s latest alleged transgressions include retweeting Conservative Party leader Pierre Poilievre’s criticism of Trudeau, blasting Trudeau’s former senior aide, Gerald Butts, and New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, tweeting opposition to a plan by Ottawa police to take custody of the children of the Trucker Convoy protesters, and telling Joe Rogan’s podcast audience that acceptance of radical gender theory is a sign of “civilizations collapsing” and that climate change models are unreliable.

Past crimes include pointing out that plus-sized swimsuit model Yumi Nu on the cover of Sports Illustrated for purposes of political correctness is “not beautiful” and that “no amount of authoritarian tolerance is going to change that.”

Styxhexenhammer666 observes that Canada’s thought police are applying a policy employed by repressive regimes like Saddam Hussein’s by trying to force him to pay for the bullet used to execute him. Specifically, he is supposed to pay for his ChiCom-style struggle session:

Regarding Peterson’s crime and punishment, this hits the mark:

“The whole point is to be as arbitrary and as opaque as possible so that they can always nail you.”

That’s why there are no actual laws in Oceania in 1984. It’s why an established sportscaster like Gary Hahn can get indefinitely suspended for saying “illegal alien.”
