An Enraged Rand Paul Is Denied a Look at GOP Version of ObamaCare

Remember when leftist conspirators cooked up ObamaCare behind closed doors, with Nancy Pelosi telling us that they had to ram through the bill so that we could find out what was in it? It is nice to have Democrats out of power so we don’t have to worry about that happening again. Oh wait…

House Republicans’ new version of the replacement bill is being kept in a “dedicated reading room,” Bloomberg reported, where it will be available to members of the House Energy and Commerce committee ahead of a markup. The move is an effort to prevent leaks.

Senator Rand Paul, one of the precious few voices of fiscal sanity in Washington, is not pleased:

Paul accused House leadership of not wanting to admit to creating a watered down version of ObamaCare, and demanded that they release text of the bill.

Paul later said he’s been told the House Republicans’ draft of the repeal bill is “take it or leave it.”

It is bad enough to refuse to learn from history. We don’t even learn from events too recent to be called history.

Prepare for the ObamaCare notch in the socialism ratchet to be locked in irreversibly, after Republicans make it permanent by “repealing and replacing” it.

Obama would have called this “transparency.”

On a tip from Auburn Rapunzel.

What really struck me was that Sen. Paul went himself, physically, down to this reading room and demanded entry and to look at it, apparently within a few hours of hearing of it.

These are the men we need to support. Men of action.

  2. Occam's Stubble says:

I wonder if the House committee understands that it will have to pass the Senate to become law or are we going to see a Republican version of “deem and pass?”

  3. JeffersonSpinningInGrave says:

Wonder if they can pick up some Dem votes, both in the house and senate, if they don’t stray too far from the original Obamacare? Establishment GOP has worked with Dems to bypass conservatives before.

  4. Dan Northrup says:

How much you want to bet that there will be no cost controls and EpiPens will still be over priced. Because cost controls would piss off to many billionaires. Same problem as last time.. NO BALLS.

Do we have the names of the House Energy and Commerce committee?

If so: Tar. Feathers. Rail. Some assembly required

  7. Artfuldgr says:

if one keeps reading this, no answer, no person, nothing is good..
why dont we all just slit our throats in dsipair

IF we know with certainty what is going to happen as we keep asserting
how come the person doing that has not made more money than trump?

truth is your so used to being down on your own side anymore, you cant be positive just to see what happens and shoot them AFTER The crime, might as well get it over with now. you havent seen the text, they are preventing it from being seen so the left around the world cant strategize together, and you and i have no idea what will happen

but take it or leave it might be, take our bill or the alternative is no replacement
and you dont have any idea what that is, your just assuming that the right is the left and that we are all done for, there is no hope, and you know its written

how do you get up in the morning?

  8. Artfuldgr says:

nope, if they didnt stray far, then they could publish and work it
but if they did stray, then releasing it would be like showing your cards… remember just clinton alone could have all the organs of the arab state brainstorming, and Valerie jarret and her families ties (given FBI), could do it for russian FSB now that KGB and ted kennedy is gone

  9. Artfuldgr says:

only if he did it to pelosi and revealed which he didnt, and so, no go…

you realize that the crazy austrian and the mean georgian were men of action as were the argentinian murderous doctor, and the others..

its not whether they are men of action, or women
its what action the men or women take that matters.

  10. Artfuldgr says:

i will take that bet cause you think in pennies..

  11. SNuss says:

    Will history repeat itself?

  12. FeatherBlade says:

By realizing that even another healthcare crap sandwich isn’t the end of the world.

    First step: pray
Second step: Write to your congresscritter and tell him that you will not vote for him if he even thinks of passing a healthcare bill that is done behind closed doors, exactly the way Obamacare was, because if he votes in favor of something like that you will take it as a sign that he is no longer competent to hold public office, and may be too stupid to live.
Third: acknowledge that if this legislation passes it may spell the end of the nation. Thank God that the end of the nation is not the same as the end of the world.
Fourth: get you affairs in order such that you have supplies to weather a collapse of the nation and prepare to rebuild.

  13. Mack says:

Both parties have failed the people. The people have failed the Republic by not voting.

  14. Auburn Rapunzel says:

Well, since you’re clearly in a position to judge others for “wrong action”, please tell us what you’re doing.

  15. Artfuldgr says:

you OBVIOUSLY haven’t read my stuff around the net… though usually the moniker doesn’t have the extra U… tons of stuff on history, poly sci, and stuff the vast majority of people don’t know, but can look up if they did.

and as far as judging wrong action, my family is from Latvia, you might find that history interesting from the red rifle men to the just, to the heroes, to the purges, the conscription’s, the special dispensation, DP (displaced persons) camps, and all manner of stuff the yutes believe is exaggerated, but actually the other way around (it was worse).

by the way, the crazy Austrian was Hitler, the Georgian was Stalin, and the Argentinian was Che Guevara…

  16. Auburn Rapunzel says:

So you don’t actually go and confront people. You write stuff on the Internet, and that gives you the moral high ground.

    All right, then.

20,000 – Obamacare: Seven Feet of Job-Killing Regulations or rather 20,000 pages of treason that US citizens will never see and if they did the pages are riddled with legalese.. 1000s of pages within this law is treason in itself….

  18. Spiny Norman says:

The Dems and the GOPe are both scared shitless of the American people.

  19. Dan Northrup says:

Get appendicitis with no insurance and that is what you will be left with, pennies. Bare minimum 50k if you pay as a patient. Of course insurance companies can negotiate it down to 6k but you can’t. I saw it first hand and it isn’t right. Just google Martin Shkreli and you will start to get an idea of why healthcare is so effed.

  21. 762x51 says:

Gee, it’s almost as if the Retardlicans are R flavored Progressives and not at all dissimilar to the D flavored Demhroid Progressive side of the UniParty. I sure wish someone would have identified this problem sooner . . .

  22. 762x51 says:

“Establishment GOP has worked with Dems to bypass conservatives before.” They have been doing it for decades. That is why no matter which side of the UniParty “wins” nothing ever gets better. Both are controlled by Progressives.

As long as the control features aren’t changed and the Progressives can maintain control over you, they will likely piss and moan about it to appease their base but will ultimately go along with it.

You have been sold out again by the Retardlican Progressives.

  23. 762x51 says:

    Yes, Civil War II on your doorstep in 3 . . 2 . . 1 . .

  24. 762x51 says:

Apparently not or they would following the agenda those people voted for. As you see, they are once again doing the opposite. Promise A Result B. Their agenda is not ours and ours is not theirs.

The defining characteristic of a “republic” is representation, you have none, you have only liars who deceive you with empty promises then go do what they want once you vote for them.

  25. 762x51 says:

Retardlicans control both houses of Congress and the White House which is why the Demhiroids are flipping out. The Dems cannot stop any legislation the R flavored Progressives want to pass so there would be no reason to hide it unless it is just more totalitarian BS which is the most likely case given the Progressives who run what used to be the GOP.

Bottom line, even if what you say is true, which it is not, they are still servants of the people and have no business hiding ANYTHING from us. Constitutionally, they are our REPRESENTATIVES and there is no constitutional authority for them to hide legislation from us, much less from our other elected representatives. Cutting out Rand Paul cuts out his constituents and negates their representation, that is flatly unconstitutional and no amount of excuses is going make it all better.

Power has changed in DC, the game, the agenda and the power elite have not because there is only one party with two sides. The problem is not R or D it is PROGRESSIVES. If what I say isn’t true, why have the Retardlicans FAILED to have a plan in place once they were back in power? They have had six years since OBlowMeCare was passed, did their dog eat their homework?

  26. 762x51 says:

    First step: pray
Second step: Arm, equip and train for the conflict ahead – it is inevitable now.
Third: Tell them that if this legislation passes it WILL spell the end of their existence. This nation and its Constitution have survived civil war before and will do so again.
Fourth: Kill until no Progressive breaths American air.

Obamacare = Slavery, period. A line in the sand must be drawn somewhere, there is no better place for it than Obamacare. “Tweaking” it isn’t good enough.

“By realizing that even another healthcare crap sandwich isn’t the end of the world.”

No, not the end of the world but it is the end of liberty and condemns future generations to servitude. I will not consign my progeny to the darkness. You have a moral responsibility to pass freedom to the next generation as it was passed to you. As Reagan said, “freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction”.

  27. SNuss says:

Time to stock up on food and ammo, I guess.

  28. Publius says:

The fact that Rand Paul and Ted Cruz are co-enemy No. 1 of the establishment should be enough to convince conservatives Rand is a key ally in the advancement of constitutional conservatism, but some are still under the spell of the GOP establishment’s propaganda. There’s a reason Trump referred to Cruz and Rubio as ‘Lyin’ Ted’ and ‘Little Marco’ during the Republican primaries. Personal attacks create a more effective impression of the candidates than their actual voting records. People are too lazy to learn the truth, but they’re willing to believe anyone who pretends to be dispensing the truth in the simplest form.

  29. 762x51 says:

    I wouldn’t wait any longer.

This is my approach, FWIW – Water, shelter, food, comms, medical supplies, weapons, ammo, alternative currency, alternative power.

I tried to prioritize them in order of importance but with an eye toward cost so as to be able to do as many as possible in as short a time as possible. There are literally hundreds of other categories beyond these but I think these are the most essential. Hopefully this list will help some others get started on trying to survive.

  30. FeatherBlade says:

Pretty sure people who got tarred, feathered, and ridden out of town on a rail were not dismembered first.

    Just sayin’.

  31. FeatherBlade says:

    … you stopped stocking up?

  32. Artfuldgr says:

I grew up around the east tremont, fordham rd, grand concourse are of the bronx at the height of the 70s malaise and tensions… your going to be a bigot and lecture me under an assumption about health without any knowlege of me? (if you dont know why i used the term then you havent read the definition).

healthcare got screwed when the politicos first got the idea that they could control prices like the soviet union but use different levers, and sold the public on the idea that a new layer of a multibillion dollar company called an HMO would be inserted into this mix and they would make prices go down AND somehow have salaries, advertising, insurance, and all that for the company in the middle…

do you see the problem here?
if doc says, the bill is 50, and i say its too high, it makes no sense to insert a third party that tells the doc to take 30, bills the customer for 40. then the doctor raises it to 70, so the now the third party tells the doc to take 45, bills the customer for 65, pockets the difference…

    that process was made mandatory…

the rest shall i say was a fait accompli that someone would have to step in and not get rid of that process or the HMOs but somehow shift that to the state through peoples being forced to pay (again, that old soviet means of production thing), and somehow with a redistributionist and a treatment limiting state payer, we would bring those prices down, and bend that curve, tote that barge and lift that bale too..

notice that in this game, layering fix on top of fix that causes a problem is the modern political rube goldberg creation machine.

  33. Artfuldgr says:

i have no moral high ground silly… it was a way of saying “you dont know me”, which you obviously think otherwise… and i dont even have an icon image to go by and artfldgr refers to what a photographer could do in a darkroom to improve a photo… artfully dodge the image, but its a pun on the other person used by fagen to accomplish the goals of fagen.

  34. Artfuldgr says:

take a minute and think of what i am saying about the situation. deep breath. i am describing what in school today would be called a double standard… now, do you think a double standard is good? you obviously have problems with writing that requires the reader to thing and hasn’t spoon fed the answer to them.

there are more than just explicit means to communicate, which is why Shakespeare didn’t say things directly or many other authors in various canons.

  35. Auburn Rapunzel says:

Your inability to communicate your position clearly is not my fault.

  36. Auburn Rapunzel says:

No, I don’t know you. And surprise, I don’t see why I should want to.

So yep, I’m just going to ignore your attempt to draw a parallel between Sen. Paul and Hitler, and move right along.
