Armored Vehicle Used to Collect Zoning Violation Judgment From 75-Year-Old Man

The term heavy handed hardly does justice to Big Government in the fundamentally transformed former Land of the Free:

When officials in the tiny Town of Stettin in Marathon County [Wisconsin] went to collect a civil judgment from 75-year-old Roger Hoeppner this month, they sent 24 armed officers.

And an armored military vehicle.

Overkill? Not at all, say the authorities.

Marathon County sheriff’s officials aren’t apologizing for their tactics. Sheriff’s Capt. Greg Bean said officials expected to have to seize and remove tractors and wooden pallets to pay the judgment — hence the cadre of deputies. He also said what while Hoeppner was never considered dangerous, he was known to be argumentative.

Here’s how Big Government teaches us not to be argumentative:

Hoeppner said when he noticed deputies outside his house, he called his attorney, Ryan Lister of Wausau. Lister said he quickly left for Hoeppner’s house but was stopped by a roadblock that was kept up until after his client had been taken away in handcuffs. “Rather than provide Mr. Hoeppner or his counsel notice…and attempt to collect without spending thousands of taxpayer dollars on the military-style maneuvers, the town unilaterally decided to enforce its civil judgment” with a show of force, Lister said.

Bean said deputies had to handcuff Hoeppner because he was not following all their instructions, but did eventually agree to pay the $80,000 judgment after a visit to a bank — accompanied by deputies.

Kind of reminds you of the stories of people being accompanied at knifepoint to the nearest ATM to make a big cash withdrawal, doesn’t it?

The massive judgment resulted from Hoeppner’s attempt to run a business in violation of zoning regulations. He says that the town later agreed to $6,000, but that the entire conflict has cost him $200,000, wiping out his retirement fund. Getting stamped on by the boot of Big Government isn’t cheap.

Idiots, just a bunch of idiots. Do you think they knew he had 80k in the bank before the raided him? Between this crap, civil forfeiture, and zero interest rates, I think i’m going to convert my money to gold and bury it like a dog with a bone.

A simple cease and desist order followed by a summary judgment and a lien on the property until paid. The militarized police just needed a reason to hall out their new toy

Apparently I’m the only who has a problem with civilian police departments possessing vehicles with gun turrets. That was something the Soviet Union did, not America.

The bigger problem here is that there are men so lacking in moral character that they think that what they did to this old man is morally right. If the police choose to support tyranny, such as they did in this case, the casualties in the coming civil war will be massive.

Convert it to toilet paper, you cannot eat or wipe with gold and food spoils. In the NWO, toilet paper and paper currency will change places.

Unarmed, 75yo men scare more easily than those of us who are younger and more heavily armed.

Now, who still thinks that this does not end in a gunfight?

If only there was some universal item that I could turn into either bullets or toilet paper. Going back to bartering is really going to suck.

I would think the cops wouldn’t last long in a civil war making themselves that big of a target.

Actually that turret looks like the Active denial system, not that it makes it any better but those ADS units are very pricey.

Sending police to collect a judgement rather than just sending him an invoice first is very heavy handed and shows how the government is thinking.

Go for the heavy duty extra thick stuff. If your forced to eat government gruel it will play havoc with your internals and when the runs start being a common occurrence you’ll be glad you have the extra heavy duty stuff.

You’re not alone. Didn’t I once suggest a “peaceful demonstration” through Washington DC by a couple of hundred thousand armed citizens? I have also advised my Governor to call out the Guard and civilian volunteers when the Washington mob got pushy.

You know I love my 22 plinker. Only thing about 22’s is that you can’t reload them. So post SHTF, yeah they’re great, until the ammo runs out. Ultimately, the best long term SHTF skill for hunting and protection is Archery.
