As Economy Falters, EPA to Shut Down a Staggering 28 Gigawatts of Energy Production

Remember before the 2008 election, when Barack Hussein Obama said this?

“We can’t drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times … and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK. That’s not leadership. That’s not going to happen.”

…and this?

“Under my plan … electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket.”

People must have thought he didn’t mean it. But he did, and he is delivering on his threats with the help of the unaccountable Environmental Protection Agency — which has been granted authority over every aspect of our existence by the wildly irresponsible Supreme Court. From the Institute on Energy Research:

EPA modeling and power-plant operator announcements show that EPA regulations will close at least 28 gigawatts (GW) of American generating capacity, the equivalent of closing every power plant in the state of North Carolina or Indiana. Also, 28 GW is 8.9 percent of our total coal generating capacity.

This will mean Third World-style rolling blackouts and skyrocketing energy prices. Forcing up energy prices correspondingly forces down our standard of living by driving up the price of literally everything, and by throwing people out of work as the economy is made to contract.

Those who think Obama is not destroying the country on purpose, but is merely a bumbling idiot, are invited to explain why he told his supporters in advance that he would do this to us.

Voting for him once despite his long list of associates who wish this country harm was stupid. Voting for him twice would be treason.

Well As Winston Churchill said: “…the whole world, including the United States, including all that we have known and cared for, will sink into the abyss of a new Dark Age, made more sinister, and perhaps more protracted, by the lights of perverted science. Let us therefore brace ourselves to our duties, and so bear ourselves that, if the British Empire and its Commonwealth last for a thousand years, men will say, “This was their finest hour.”

Obama IS a bumbling idiot, all he does is golf, vacation and make speeches. His puppet master however has done this to many countries. USA isn’t the first.

And speaking of energy, another Green energy boondoggle bites the dust.

After incredible expense, shutdown after shutdown, a major explosion, and a whole lot of scandal, a biomass energy generation scheme dies a horrible death – its carcass to be turned into something that will actually produce electricity:

I can’t remember which troll said we voted for this and the EPA is accountable. But since they are so supportive of this action I have to ask if the troll(s) are willing to pick up the additional 25% increase in prices my electric bill has gone up over the last 4 months (with an actual decrease in usage kwh over the same time span)?

  7. You can be sure Obama an his minions have all the power they need. As for the Proles? They can party like its 1984.

  9. Heltau says:

This might turn out for the best for mexifornia. the high speed rail will rund on electricity. Maybe now since there will not be enough electric power to push the train along it will be abandoned and the money can go some where else to be wasted.

OK regressives, how will you recharge all those ELECTRIC CARS that were going to “save the planet”?

  12. Kevin R. says:

KHarn, that’s the good part. See people won’t have much use for cars when people are reduced to subsistence living. Most people will have their hands full just trying to survive and boy oh boy, something like a car will soon be a luxury only the party elites will have.

    Thanks a lot, democrats.

” and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK ”

That’s directly from his father. It’s based on the Great Lie that Africa (and elsewhere) is dirt poor and in a constant state of tribal warfare because of Teh White Colonists. And, America and Western Europe are rich because we stole it all.

I’m still trying to figure out who America stole it from. All we got from Africa was a load of slaves turned into indolent welfare leeches who I’d like to exercise a Lemon Law on and make the Arab and African slave traders take back.

If I have air conditioning and a Town Car I can afford to drive anywhere, any time why would I give a crap what some losers in other countries have to say…??? Phook ’em Dano! I’m tired of this BS.

America is great because of Americans. The rest of ya can crap in your hats and eat it.

  15. I'm A Lasagna Hog says:

Don’t worry, guys, we can just follow Spain’s example and use heliostat power plants for the low, low cost of only about $20,000,000 per 1 MW.

  16. Right Reason says:

But I mean, it’s not like we have billions upon billions of barrels of oil and trillions of cubic feet of natural gas that are accessible today, with present technology, in the lower 48.

And billions more barrels of oil and trillions more cubic feet of natural gas in ANWAR.

Is it …. ???? I mean, what U.S. President would shut down energy production based on a proven lie (global warming, err, cooling, uhhh, the-temperature-seems-to-have-changed-and-my-phony-computer-model-blames-the-puny-CO2-emissions-from-cars-and-power-plants)?

Seriously, a U.S. President refusing to develop domestic energy sources that produce very high-paying jobs and billions of dollars in tax revenues.

No President would do that … right??

  17. Ghost of FA Hayek says:

And that 8.9 percent less capacity DIRECTLY translates into LESS economic growth potential.
Anyone, and I mean anyone who still attempts to claim that THIS administration is pro-growth is a damn liar.
Nothing says hire more workers and lower consumer costs than commercial electric rates rising through the stratosphere.

If it’s what the commies want then okay, we prepped proletariat will survive it just so the bleating sheople will necessarily suffer. If that’s what it takes to get the point across Marxism = destruction. Our job is to make sure everyone knows it’s the Demonicrats who did it.

  22. Bob Roberts says:

Is there any possible doubt that Obama wants to destroy America? Any?

If so, you really need to seek help if you can’t see this.

The left has no idea what they’ve done. Pretty soon there will be no wealth to redistribute.

One can only hope they’ve seen the error of their ways.

Polls suggest it is so, but the one that matters is still just over a year away.

On all that oil and gas… you haven’t been paying attention! Hasn’t the left been telling you, for the past 20-30 years, that it won’t do any good because it will take at least 5-10 years to bring on line?

    Wait a minute… what’s 30 – 5?

I’d love to see this broken down as to red state/blue state distribution: who got punished and who got rewarded.

A lot of states that went for Obama are taking a hit – and they deserve it most. Some that are traditionally red (Texas) are also taking hits. This is more of a Democrat “we are miserable so you have to be too” moment.

They don’t care on this one – they don’t care who gets hurt. Even if it’s their own.

  26. Just sayin' says:

Obama has targeted states like Arizona, Texas, and Louisiana. He hates Arizona because of John McCain, SB1070, and because we didn’t vote for him. He called for boycotts, which resulted in additional unemployment. He hates Texas, because of the Bushes and the fact that he didn’t win Texas. Obama did very little to help Louisiana during the oil spill. He has also attacked Nevada several times.

  33. Whitehall says:

The obama Administration is going after operating nuclear power plants too. The EPA is trying to require expensive or unfeasible backfits on cooling water sources.

Already one nuke (Oyster Creek in NJ) has announced shutdown plans due to the proposed EPA rule. The four big reactors in California that supply 20% of its electricity are also at risk since they do not have the physical room for the new cooling towers required.
