Ballyhooed Study on Gay Marriage Attitudes Retracted Because Data Was Fake

One technique information gatekeepers use to change what we think is to tell us what we think. This works because most people are herd animals, who feel deep in their guts that to be parted from the herd is certain doom, and who will therefore believe any lie no matter how depraved so long as you convince them that everyone else believes it (except of course the bad people who have strayed from the herd). But sometimes social engineers get carried away with this technique and it has to be acknowledged that their data is fake:

A study claiming that gay people advocating same-sex marriage can change voters’ minds has been retracted due to fraud.

What’s more, the funding agencies credited with supporting the study deny having any involvement.

The study was published last December in Science, and received lots of media attention (including from BuzzFeed News). It found that a 20-minute, one-on-one conversation with a gay political canvasser could steer voters in favor of same-sex marriage. Not only that, but these changed opinions lasted for at least a year and influenced other people in the voter’s household, the study found.

Donald Green, the senior author on the study, retracted it on Tuesday shortly after learning that his co-author, UCLA graduate student Michael LaCour, had faked the results. Science posted an official “editorial expression of concern” — a very big deal in the science world — on Wednesday afternoon.

“I am deeply embarrassed by this turn of events and apologize to the editors, reviewers, and readers of Science,” Green, a professor of political science at Columbia University, said in his retraction letter to the journal, as posted on the Retraction Watch blog.

This after the media made hay with the study:

The study received widespread coverage from The New York Times, Vox, The Huffington Post, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal and others when it was released in December.

Any journalists who would take a study by a political science professor at notoriously ultra-left Columbia University at face value deserve guffaws as they wipe the egg from their sheepish faces.

Congratulations to Michael LaCour on his promising young career in academia.

The entire push for ‘gay rights’ is based on lies. Gay gene? 10% of the population? Just as good at raising kids? All proven wrong by the data, and the activists know it.

Michael Mann and Phil Jones say they’ve replicated the study; that it’s not fake, it’s just misinterpreted by ignorant people who are not climate scientists.

Pegon and Nifty have it about right.

“The study was faked. It was a lie. They manipulated the results.” The point is “the media ran with it”.

    Mission accomplished.

The narrative they wanted out is OUT, and just because it’s not true means nothing. The little germ of what they wanted to convince people of is out there, in the heads of low info voters. No matter the (barely covered) retractions, the poison is out of the bottle.

The left learned well: just SAY it. No matter how outrageous (think “climate change”), just get it out there. People will remember the original statement. The media, even if they are forced to cover a retraction, will (a) do it as low key as possible and (b) will cleverly still use the original lie whenever possible.

Heads they win. Tails we lose.

Let’s make the libs put their money where the filthy mouth is. If they are truly not “Islamophobic” then lets ship all our homos to Iraq and see what a “warm” welcome ISIS has in store.

there is not ONE thing in the last 40 years these liberals have crusaded for that wasn’t based on cooked data or wholly made up ‘studies’. Not one.

The polar bears is a classic. Four dead bears were reported floating in the sea. From that they made up an entire end of the world scenario for polar bears, all caused of course by AGW. In point of fact when the real nose counters were brought in on the discussion it turns out the bears have been steadily increasing for over 50 years. Of thirteen herds, only one was somewhat degraded. But then all population groups have their ups and downs. It’s the long term trend that counts.

The ENTIRE AGW scam is based on cooked numbers.

The actual number of practicing homosexuals published was a cooked number.

The alar scare, DDT, wind power, etc., etc., etc. All made up or cooked “data”.

The last six years’ economic numbers are a good example. ALWAYS downgraded later when no one is watching and the LSM never publish the change with any of the hoorah of the original broadcast.

The reason this sounds strangely familiar is because it is the same scam run by the global warming hoaxers. The left always starts with a desired outcome, say, absolute control of your daily life, then engineers a scam to advance that agenda. Falsifying data is now a common method they employ to perpetuate those scams.

Cultural Marxism is a house of cards built on deceit.
