Brad Thor’s #NeverTrump Stand

Author Brad Thor does a fine job of explaining why as a conservative who treasures liberty, he will not be voting for Donald Trump. A few highlights:

As an American, my greatest allegiance is to liberty. As long as there is liberty, no task is insurmountable, no challenge too overwhelming. As long as there is liberty, anything is possible.

The true north of my compass has been, and always will be, liberty. I owe it to those who have come before me and those who will come after. I will act to safeguard liberty no matter what personal price I may be forced to bear.

Spoken like an American in the full sense of the word.

Liberty is my litmus test. I weigh all actions of my government and those who seek office, against it. … When I apply my litmus test of liberty to Donald Trump, he fails – completely.

In fact, he has not only failed to ever stand for liberty, he has repeatedly worked to undermine it. From supporting an assault weapons ban, the seizure of private property via eminent domain, the restructuring of libel laws, and socialized medicine (just to name a few) – throughout his entire adult life, Donald Trump has repeatedly championed the power of the state.

Thor notes that Trump conspicuously lacks crucial character traits, such as strength, compassion, and humility.

My greatest concern about Donald Trump, though, isn’t a trait he lacks, but a dangerous one he possesses – in spades. Authoritarianism. …

Donald Trump has told us to just wait and see what he does to Jeff Bezos once he gets into the White House. He has told us the American military will do whatever he tells them to do no matter what their reservations. He has promised to prevent American companies from moving outside the United States, regardless of what they believe is best for their businesses.

In other words, Donald Trump has clearly told all of us that he will use the power of the presidency to force people to bend to his will. This is not liberty.

Nor is it anything a true American will sign onto. In the end you can only have one ultimate allegiance. Trump forces us to choose between party and liberty. The weak, the shallow, and the misguided will chose party. The strong and the principled will understand that to endorse tyranny at any level is to become enlisted in its army — an army at war with everything America stands for.

As for Trump supporters who think they have boxed conservatives into a corner, and can compel their obedience by brandishing the word “Hillary,”

Let me be clear that I don’t want to vote for Hillary Clinton. I also don’t want to vote for Donald Trump. My preference is to write-in or vote third party. I think they are both terrible for our future.

But between a big government progressive and a potential despot – every American must ask themselves where liberty has the greatest chance to survive over the next four years.

As a Constitutional conservative, I take solace in, and guidance from the words of Alexander Hamilton, who in the election of 1800 said, “If we must have an enemy at the head of government, let it be one whom we can oppose, and for whom we are not responsible.”

Voting for Hillary Clinton is unthinkable. But as noted months ago, she would likely do less damage than Trump. This makes the argument that not voting for Trump equates to voting for Hillary doubly absurd. If not voting for Hillary equated to voting for Trump, it would be the only argument in favor of voting for either of them.

Conservatives didn’t create this situation; Trump supporters did. They and those who sell out to them bear all responsibility for the outcome.

If we keep our integrity, we live to fight another day. If we don’t, the war is over and the bad guys win.

Thor proves Americans aren’t extinct yet.

On a tip from Torcer.

That’s just crazy talk. No way Trump will do more damage than Hilary. No way. Is Trump promising to shut down coal plants? Is Trump promising to allow the suing of gun manufacturers?

Half of what Trump says is just bluster. Everyone knows it, except the #NeverTrump crowd. It’s what Trump *does*. He prides himself on being unpredictable. Even he openly admits that tariffs are nothing but a threat to start trade negotiations. The other half must be approved by Congress.

I say worst case scenario, Trump ends up behaving like just another RINO. Status quo remains.

I’ll keep my integrity, too. I’ll do everything humanly possible to stop what’s 100% certain to be the most leftist Supreme Court our country has ever known. Kiss whatever is left of the Constitution goodbye forever.

  2. Willard J Clinton says:

“…As a Constitutional conservative, I take solace in, and guidance from the words of Alexander Hamilton …”

Hamilton was pro big government and a Rothschild loyalist, dumbass.

  3. Cold57 says:

great another special snowflake that if it doesnt go his way he is going to pout!
Trump is the Tar baby of the RNC. For years they have been obeying the DNC. If they would have put as much energy into stopping obama as they have in bitching crying and telling everyone how EVIL trump is perhaps they would be listened to. but then again maybe not we are holding $ 127 Trillion in debt because the RINOS didnt have the balls to STOP SPENDING! but they didnt , now deal with what YOU have done!

  4. Mr_Galt says:

Brad Thor – another one of Glenn Beck’s cult bitches.

  5. daPenguin says:

He prides himself on being unpredictable. — and you want him with the nuclear football in his hand?

  6. Nobama says:

You still don’t get it, do you. It’s all part of his ploy. Ironically he even specifically mentioned the possibility of using nukes precisely to demonstrate his desire to be viewed as unpredictable. And I agree with him. What’s the point of having nukes if all your enemies don’t think you will never use them? Where’s the deterrent in that?

You really believe that Trump is gonna randomly nuke some country on a whim? Gimme a break.

  7. sophiepeaches says:

Yeah, cause Hillary will make America great again. Grow the hell up.

  8. 762x51 says:

    Said the Trumpanzee cult bitch.

  9. JayMS says:

I am no fan of Mr. Trump, but having Shrillary Rotten Cankles as president is a true nightmare scenario. Can you see Trump trying to shut down coal mining industries, forcing states to cave on gay rights issues, wanting to ban private firearm ownership, allowing illegal immigration to continue unfettered, or appointing some commie kook to SCOTUS?

  10. 762x51 says:

For over a year, the Trumpanzees have hooted and hollered about how great their boy is and he can beat us Conservatives and on and on ad nauseum. MB has been choked nearly to death with their intellectual feces flung at passersby who dare to disagree with them and their fascist cult leader.

Now, if they lose, it will be our fault for not supporting them and their mistake. You intellectual midgets made this bed, not us. We are not responsible for your mistakes, though as Progressives, I dare say you cannot see it any other way. Personal responsibility is clearly not in your lexicon.

You believed a pathological liar, you decided to pass the bill before you could see what was in it. We tried to warn you and were ridiculed for our efforts and for holding to our principles. A strategy which exposed your totalitarian ideology for all to see. I was not originally completely opposed to tRumps candidacy until I learned more about him. What has put me off from ever considering voting for him in a hold your nose vote, as I have done in past election cycles, is the verbal bile excreted here and elsewhere against Conservatives and Constitutional principles.

As it turns out, the guy who used to fund Hillary is every bit as bad and probably even worse than she is. His fascism is clearly visible in you, his adoring supporters and your “obey and support us or else”, mentality.

To that I say, go fuck yourselves. I will see you on the battlefield.

The official logo of the Trumpanzee Voter.

  11. 762x51 says:

So you hate the GOPee for promising to do one thing and then doing the opposite, which is true, Then you tun around and say half of what tRump says is bluster, meaning he is lying about what he says, and that’s somehow OK?

    Wow, . . . . just . . . wow.

  12. 762x51 says:

tRump is a narcissistic sociopath beyond even what Obama suffers from, so YES, he could easily go wild and nuke some random country for some perceived slight. He is completely unstable.

Your point about America’s nuclear arsenal use is completely invalid as we are the only country on Earth that actually HAS nuked another country. They have to believe it because we have done it.

Giving a wild-eyed maniac control of that power does not make things better.

Riddle me this, how will you know when he isn’t jerking you off?

  13. Occam's Stubble says:

Agreed. Trump is too stupid to be a tyrant. Hillary has been dreaming of her tyranny for decades.

  14. Nobama says:

No. It’s not ok. Like I said, worst case scenario with Trump will be that the GOPe status quo remains.

Unfortunately Trump is our only option now to stop the Hildebeast.

  15. MAS says:

You are projecting what you want Trump to do. You really don’t KNOW what he will do based on any evidence other than his chatter. To do this you must purposely ignore his massive N/E progressive past…some quite recent.

That is unless you have ESP and can read his inner thoughts…

  16. Nobama says:

Is Trump a narcissist? Absolutely. Is he a sociopath? Not likely, judging by stories from some of his former employees. They’d be the first to know. I also look at his well-behaved kids who seem to love and adore him. He dotes on them as well. This isn’t something sociopaths do (believe me I know sociopaths well). Also I also judge him by many charitable things he’s done for strangers that few people even know about.

Many say the Donald behind the scenes isn’t the Donald in public. I tend to believe it’s mostly true. Which goes back to my point about all his bluster. Judging his life as a whole, I’d say he’s mostly bark and little bite (no stories of horrible abuses of employees, children, etc). It’s the persona he’s cultivated and it’s worked for him.

Finally, how do we know when he’s jerking us? We don’t. But if you were to forced to choose between playing 2 different poker hands– one 100% guaranteed to lose, the other with a 10% chance of winning– which one would you bet on? Unfortunately those are the cards we’ve been dealt.

  17. Nobama says:

I’m not projecting anything. You’re right. I don’t know what he’ll do. But I do know what Hitlery will do and it’s all bad. Very bad. With Trump at least there’s a chance he’ll get something right. I wouldn’t call projecting. Simply reality. Unfortunately one are the cards we’ve been dealt.

  18. Tom says:

Yes, because “wild-eyed maniacs” often have multi-decade successful careers in the world of business and real estate.
The only wild-eyed maniacs I see these days are you Cruzers who can’t seem to get over the fact that your candidate ran and was rejected by the primary voters.
If the Romney/Rockefeller folks could support Nixon, and the GHW Bush folks could support Reagan and the McCain folks could support W – after their preferred candidate was defeated – what makes you bunch of also-ran-supporters so special? What makes you SO belligerent and arrogant and downright nasty in comparison to those GOPers from the past half-century or so?
If there’s anyone who is narcissistic, it’s you folks who decided that you are just too good and too smart for those millions of GOP voters who – in their FOOLISH BLINDNESS! – did not vote for your nasally scold for president.
Get over your loss, and get over yourselves…

  19. Tom says:

“We tried to warn you and were ridiculed for our efforts…”

Yes, you heroic oracles of Conservatism tried – oh, how you tried – to warn us lesser mortals of the folly of our ways….But dammit, we just didn’t listen to your wisdom, your learned analysis, your superior (in your mind and nowhere else) intellect, and your keen perceptions. We have failed you…

Now go put on “Man in the Wilderness”, crank it up, and sob in self-indulgent frustration as you sing along with Styx:

“Sometimes I feel like a man in the wilderness
I’m a lonely soldier off to war
Sent away to die, never quite knowing why
Sometimes it makes no sense at all”

  20. CTsOpinion says:

    Thank you, my thoughts exactly.

  21. CTsOpinion says:

You prove the point that it is a fools errand to argue with an asshat, especially one supporting an ASSCLOWN like Trump.

  22. CTsOpinion says:

All true but Trump is still an ASSCLOWN I cannot vote for.

  23. CavalierX says:

Want a nightmare scenario? Trump has already told South Korea and Japan that they ought to build themselves some nukes and take on North Korea by themselves, because if he’s President their asses will be hanging out to dry. He’s probably completely unaware that Russia and China have a military alliance with North Korea, and would be forced to get involved… and then, so would the rest of the world.
Nuclear war. Is Hillary going to “top” that?

  24. bob says:

great lecture! except that we haven’t been free since abe Lincoln. Maybe good ole Brad is free since he’s rich enough to live above the laws and regulations that are strangling normal people, the one’s that have to live paycheck to paycheck. For years the elites have told the voters to just hold your nose vote for McCain, Romney, dole and whomever the elites picked “for the good of the party” so that a liberal won’t win. Now that the voters have decided for themselves the elites can’t handle it. they want to all of a sudden become “real” Americans who stand for liberty. I wonder if ole Brad has thought about what will happen to liberty when Hillary is president?

  25. bob says:

Apparently he must have some talent. To be stupid and yet make billions of dollars and put millions of people to work. He must be a magician.

  26. CavalierX says:

I would hazard a guess that Trump suffers from Narcisistic Personality Disorder, if anything. A short description from the Mayo Clinic web site:

Narcissistic personality disorder is a mental disorder in which people have an inflated sense of their own importance, a deep need for admiration and a lack of empathy for others. But behind this mask of ultraconfidence lies a fragile self-esteem that’s vulnerable to the slightest criticism.
A narcissistic personality disorder causes problems in many areas of life, such as relationships, work, school or financial affairs. You may be generally unhappy and disappointed when you’re not given the special favors or admiration you believe you deserve. Others may not enjoy being around you, and you may find your relationships unfulfilling.

  27. bob says:

so you’ll let Hillary be president. not voting for the lesser of 2 evils but allowing the greater of 2 evils.

  28. genesis123 says:

Feels like Trump is the 2016 version of hope and change.
    black (50%?) – outsider (0%?)
eloquent (teleprompter reading) – tells it like it is (scripted “reality” show)
he’s like sort of god – Daddy’s going to win

    This is post-Christian America, friends.

  29. Tom says:

Your candidate(s) lost in the primaries, just like Rockefeller and Romney, Nixon in ’68, just like George H.W Bush to Ronald Reagan in 1980, and just like John McCain to George W. Bush in 2000.

These other folks whose candidates were rejected by the GOP primary voters managed to put aside their differences and support the nominee.

They didn’t pule about how “we tried to WARN you!” or loudly and publicly – for months and months – bitch and complain about the nominee and threaten to by God just STAY HOME!, simply because their candidate(s) lost.

My questions to you and all the other Moaners and Groaners are these:

What makes you NoNeverTrump folks so special and different from the millions upon millions of folks whose candidate lost in the primaries but who went on to fully support the nominee?

You’re telling me that NE liberal financial whiz, the son of a failed candidate for POTUS, and the freakin’ inventor of Obamacare was a staunch Republican that met your standards of “conservatism”, but Trump is just so far beyond the pale that your conservative conscience will not allow yourself to vote for him?

Will you do the right and mature thing and support Trump or will you continue to wallow in juvenile frustration and not vote, thereby assuring President Hillary?

  30. ThisObamaNation says:
Have you seen this story? The blogger who broke the story about Ted Cruz’s father’s connection to Lee Harvey Oswald and the JFK Assassination has been found DEAD in an apparent suicide.

  31. Tom says:

In case you are too dense to figure it out, I wasn’t arguing with you…I was mocking your overwrought and nearly hysterical denunciations of Trump as the Liberal Satan of the GOP.

  32. Mike says:

It would seem to me that Trump is not perfect, no one would argue that he is
However he has spoke of issues that America does need to address that none of the
    Other candidates would even approach
I am from Canada and do not fully understand your system, but it does seem to me that the progressive rot is deep in both parties and none of the other candidates were doing anything to upset that apple cart. It is difficult for those within an organization to make effective and real changes because the natural tendency is to try to change by minor degrees.
Of course any real change means that someone you know and like may have to loose their job and that thought tends to stop the whole process.
Coming in from the outside means that I have fewer sacred cows that I feel the need to keep in existence.

  33. Greywolf125 says:

Are there yet any possibly effective ways for write in campaigns?
The name calling and accusations on comments now on rightblogs is despairing.
Was nothing learned from the election and RE-election of a spoiled brat and grade school playground bully full of himself?

  34. Gene says:

The trouble is that Trump hasn’t explained why he’s a conservative. Until he does something to convince the thinking population, many conservatives will not vote for him. He could convince me to vote for him if he would simply publish a list of Supreme Court nominees who are true conservative judges and who will stand by the Constitution. But I haven’t seen anything to convince me he will be any better than Clinton (other that the stop Muslim immigration thing).

I don’t find the argument that “we don’t know what Trump would do, but he can’t be worse than Hillary” as very persuasive campaign slogan.

  35. Occam's Stubble says:

I meant stupid in the political sense.

  36. Cold57 says:

so whats your solution. you are not going to vote?
because your candidate didnt win? Those of us that vote in every election have had to vote for Mclaim then Romney, Bush. DIdnt like doing it but we did it. Time to let the will of the people be heard. Again Trump is the tar baby of the RNC. perhaps if he is elected they will start listening to the people.

  37. Nobama says:

Once again you people still don’t get it. Its nothing but a bargaining chip to start making some of these extremely wealthy allies start paying their own weight for national defense. He’s practically even said this! Not necessarily a bad idea either given we are $20T in debt. Unlike Obama, Trump not gonna hang any allies out to dry.

  38. CavalierX says:

Sure; just like when he said he’s going to “remain neutral” in the Israeli-Palestinian+everyone else conflict. Just stuff he says; pay no attention. You never know WHAT he might do! And you people think that’s some kind of PLUS? You ever hear the expression “pig in a poke?”

  39. Nobama says:

My thoughts exactly at this point. I’d rather roll the dice with Trump than vote for another Romneymccainbushdole. Let the chips fall where they may. Country is almost finished anyway.

  40. Nobama says:

He’s supposed to release a list of possible justices soon. He just saud it again last night. Hopefully it will set some minds at

  41. Mike says:

Politics is a blood sport, always has been
Wishing it otherwise will change nothing
And all this bemoaning that he is not a conservative is silly
I could not consider any of the other candidates conservative
At least he is a businessman and reasonably successful at it
He has had to meet a payroll and seems reasonably good at
not getting hit by the feces thrown at him

  42. Dan Kas says:

Trump will be the next great President. TRUMP 2016 !

  43. 762x51 says:

Well ass face, one good mocking deserves another. Let’s see, where to start, the Trumpanzee level of stupid offers so many opportunities.

I know, let’s start with your response, brownshirt. You douchebags are whining about us not supporting your boy yet you persist in the same behavior that created that animosity in the first place. Essentially doing the same thing over and over, expecting different results. Insane.

Next we can look at your reading comprehension, it sucks. If “self indulgent” is what you got out of my original post, you are a low grade moron with a nearly single digit IQ. That would explain why you cannot see the obvious evil of a man like tRump and why you would support a narcissistic sociopath and pathological liar, which is exactly the opposite of what we needed to climb out of the pit Obama has led us into. Instead, you want four more years of Progressive horsefuckery.

In short, Progtard, I have survived far worse than you or your fascist fucktard leader could ever hope to dish out against me. I am not afraid of the existing enemy government, I am not afraid of the Islamo-Nazi head choppers so there is absolutely no possible way you can make me afraid of you or der Furher, tRump.

You assholes wanted a war, you got one.

  44. 762x51 says:

You ever ask a Trumpanzee this question. Trump has been a Democrat all his life, he has belonged to their party, voted for their candidates and funded their agenda. If tRump was so sure he could beat Hillary Clinton, why didn’t he just run as a Democrat?

Just stand back if you do ask, it makes them foam at the mouth.

  45. 762x51 says:

There is no question that the GOPee sellouts will make a deal with your boy. The reason they hated Cruz is he wouldn’t have made a deal with them, he would have insisted they follow the Constitution and obey the law, can’t have that.

Stopping Hillary is irrelevant when the person you replace her with is her former fund raiser. HE is Hillary, the difference is he can pee standing up. Probably won’t make a difference in how the country is run.

  46. 762x51 says:

He only treats people who do exactly what wants, well. Otherwise, he treats them like dirt. There are plenty of stories of him turning on people who have gone against his wishes, you need to find them. He is, at best, a prick, and he is absolutely no leader. You are mistaking his business “career” where he was the ruler, with what America needs which is a leader. The two are not the same, in fact, they are mutually exclusive.

So follow your ruler, be careful though, dissent is not tolerated by fascist dictators. I will take my chances on the battlefield, upholding my oath to defend the Constitution from all enemies, foreign and domestic.

I prefer that my children remember me as someone who defended their liberty rather than the cowering subject of a fascist ruler. Some of us would rather die on our feet and others prefer to live on their knees. It’s the last free choice you will ever get to make, choose wisely.

  47. 762x51 says:

His narcissism is far worse than Obama’s who has been diagnosed as a pathological narcissist, waaaay beyond NPD. People with NPD will gravitate to those who will enable their disorder by providing the adoration they need and shun those who don’t. Pathological Narcissists will strike out at those who dare to disagree much less denigrate them. tRump has done that for decades and even during this campaign.

  48. Tom says:

“…you persist in the same behavior that created that animosity in the first place. ”
What animosity is that? Not voting for Cruz? It’s not Trump supporters who are antagonistic and name-calling-nasty and all pissed off…Hell, Trump won.

Compare your post to mine…the only “name” I called you was “heroic oracles of Conservatism”…you, on the other hand, have labeled me (and all Trump supporters, basically) as: brownshirts, douchebags, and low-grade morons, fascist Progtard / fucktard assholes who “wanted a war”!

Seriously…who sounds angry and antagonistic? It sure ain’t me…
All this because I mocked your overwrought assessment of Trump?

  49. Nobama says:

My ruler, huh? Now that’s funny. You clearly haven’t paid much attention to anything I’ve said.

I’ve been a Cruz supporter going back to his first Senate run against the GOPe-backed RINO candidate David Dewhurst in the Republican primaries. I’ve voted for him every I’ve chance I’ve had.

Why is it I’ve yet to hear any real fear and hatred hurled towards Hillary by all you #NeverTrumpers? She’s the one who’s almost certain to win in November. Perhaps Hillary is your ruler.

  50. 762x51 says:

Yet you support a man who knows only dictatorship, that will make him your ruler if he gains power, that’s how fascism works. Unless you plan to stand and fight.

Hillary is no more my ruler than tRump will ever be. I’ve explained to you repeatedly how he is the exactly the same as she is, your denial of that reality does not make it less true.

You know to old saying that freedom isn’t free? Well the bill is about to come due again. The reason you don’t “hear any fear or hatred hurled toward Hillary” is that no one here is pushing her as a candidate. I don’t fear her anymore than I fear tRump or Obama or Islam. I despised them all equally and will fight them all for the evil they represent.

If you have ever lived with death tugging at your elbow on a daily basis for any amount of time you would know that there are things worse than death. I value my principles and my children’s freedom over my own life. Settling for a perceived lesser amount of enslavement is a mark of cowardice. You make that decision to settle today but it will affect members of your family for generations to come. How fortunate you are that your ancestors made a similar decision that placed them in great peril or even cost them their lives so you could live in comfort with no concern for future generations. While you may feel freed of the responsibility to pass liberty to the next generation just as it was handed to you, the judgement of history may be so kind.

  51. Nobama says:

Once again, where’s your vitriol for Hillary? She’s the one who’s far more likely to win.

  52. 762x51 says:

Start pushing her as a candidate, I’ll be happy to show you my vitriol for her.

  53. HookLineandStinker says:

If Hillary is elected the courts will be lost for at least a generation. Imagine all the irreversible damage. Not voting for Trump guarantees Hillary. Voting some “third” party guarantees Hillary. (I was a Cruz supporter.)

  54. Alborn says:

I will write in Cruz or vote Libertarian.

  55. Timely Manner says:

Uh, he did not run as a Democrat because he was not one. Facts and documentation have overruled the Media spin.

  56. Timely Manner says:

Looking at Cruz during the election process I stopped believing he was outside Establishment and ceased believing he would stand strong and not make deals with them because almost his entire campaign was one deal after another with Establishment. Well actually I do not know if they were “deals” or him jumping through their hoops and doing their bidding for some reason unbeknownst to us. Also, I stopped supporting him when I realized his following the Constitution is with the “letter of the law” mindset (Ted is master of GOOT, Get Off On Technicality) and not the “spirit of the law”. (like when he went to Supreme Court to keep a man serving an excessive sentence of sixteen years when the maximum for the shoplifting was two years). A study of Ted’s cases shows he pushes the letter of the law over the spirit of the law (the intent or purpose of the law) just to win. Sadly, most of the times peoples lives and liberties or due process has been seriously impacted by the “Standing of the Constitution” Some of the SC justices had some not so nice things to say about this about Ted. (If interested use google to get to the actual court docs; you know the actual source)

Over the course of the primary it became apparent Ted was to play the “faux outsider” for the party.

So, we see things through different lenses. The unifying spirit or common ground is we both actually want what is going to have at least a morsel of a chance of saving our grand country and know that is not Hillary.

  57. 762x51 says:

What a load of bullshit. Go back and read the Trumpanzee posts for the last year. It was all you scum that were stinking up MB with your fascist crap, name calling, denigration, bullying, all are the well known calling cards of Trumpanzee intellectual feces.

tRump hasn’t won shit, yet. He was a plurality candidate in a handful of 12 way races, big fucking deal. Over 60% of Republicans didn’t vote for him, about the same number he can expect in the general election. You can’t win with those numbers so what have you really accomplished? He’s playing ball with the republican establishment right now, making a “deal” in which he gets what he wants, they get what they want and we get fucked over again, good job, dumbass.

You Trumpettes are all of the things I described you as, and less. Angry doesn’t begin to describe how I feel about you assholes, you are despicable and have earned the browbeating I intend to administer every time your boy sells us down the river which will be often. We had one last chance to save America and you filth have handed it to the Progressives. When civil war begins, soon, I will hunt Progressives as I have hunted other enemies of the Unites States, on the battlefield. The difference is, this time, I’m going to enjoy it.

  58. 762x51 says:

It’s Cruz, with a z. You apparently were studying someone else. Either that or you are the only one who has discovered that Cruz is an “insider”. The Establishment hate because he would force them to follow the law, they don’t want that, laws are for the little people, not the elite, in their world. Cruz would have made them our equal and that they couldn’t have.

I call bullshit on Cruz getting someone held in prison for 16 years when the max sentence was 2 years. Of course he follows the letter of the law. That is the only way to ensure it is applied equally to everyone. You start playing with subjective readings of the law, “following the spirit of the law”, you have judges legislating from the bench. What you interpret the “spirit of the law” to be would be different than what some else would see it as. It would be far easier to abuse such a system, it is ripe for corruption.

I have a more than a morsel of a chance. You believe you can make a deal with evil, you believe that in so doing the alligator will eat you last. You trust in your “deals”, I trust my rifle. We will see which lasts longer on the battlefield.

  59. Jill says:

Trump’s default instincts are both progressive and totalitarian. Sadly, there will likely be little difference between the two with respect to policy or Supreme Court nominations.

  60. Jill says:

Shoebat would be more appropriately named ‘Moonbat’ these days. This story was so laughably false that even the most ardent cheerleaders dismissed it. If he killed himself, it was likely due to embarrassment and to eulogize his dying credibility and not the actions of the ‘establishment’ strawmen.

  61. Jill says:

Do you have to support either candidate, simply because you are bullied into being a party member in ‘good standing’?

  62. Tom says:

Certainly not…you can support whomever you like but history has shown that, no matter how far-apart the candidates are in the primaries, traditionally the supporters of the losing candidates have ended up supporting the nominee.

But the NOTrump! folks seem to think they are special and that their extended temper tantrum is different and somehow unique…it seems to boil down to a kind of a narcissistic feeling that “I’m right and righteous and you millions and millions of fellow citizens who support Trump are blind and stupid!”

  63. Jill says:

My state will give Trump their electoral nod, so my conscience is clear where not supporting him is concerned. I’ve endeavored to be introspective and question whether my non-support was borne of a ‘temper tantrum’ or had merit. I believe that I fall into the latter category. Trump is far too progressive and too ill equipped to respond to a weakening economy with anything other than Keynesian solutions. That doesn’t mean that I support Hillary; I simply support ‘none of the above’

  64. HookLineandStinker says:

He, at least, says he will appoint constitutionalist judges. We know for sure that Hillary will appoint far left wing judges. I’ll take a chance.

  65. ThisObamaNation says:

How many people do you know of who shoot themselves twice in the head. One of the gun shots was to the back of the head. The only thing that is “laughable” is that idiots, like yourself, seem willing to believe it was a suicide.

  66. Jill says:

Bullets never fracture and splinter, resulting in two exit wounds? Would that not be more reasonable than a grand, mysterious plot?

  67. auntieang69 says:

Damn! Not Only is Brad Thor Sexy, but he is also Smart!!

  68. auntieang69 says:

Hey Hook: He threw that List out the freaking Next Day!!
HILLARY IS TRUMP… She is just Sneakier & Quieter about it!

  69. auntieang69 says:

Then YOU Obviously Haven’t been Fact Checking this CHEATING LIAR!!

    The ONLY Difference..

  70. auntieang69 says:

Have You Not been Listening to Trump CONSTANTLY Changing his Stance on ALMOST ALL ISSUES!! After all,, as he said, he is Merely Making suggestions, he doesn’t Know exactly What he will do if he is Elected..

Now,, THAT is Not a Person that I would even Consider Voting for.

When people run on Certain Issues,,, You DON’T Change your Stance in the Middle of the game!!

Plus he is nothing but a LIAR!

He Accuses EVERYONE ELSE of either being a LIAR or he just Calls them Names Period.. He acts like a 5 yr old kid..

I will stick with the Person who NEVER Flip Flopped on His/My Issues that worry Me and Most Americans
