Britain’s Socialized Medicine Is Close to Collapse

Both major party presidential candidates are to the left of Obama on healthcare and are likely to move us quickly toward socialized medicine like they have in Britain. The U.K.’s left-wing Guardian shows us what we have to look forward to:

The body that represents hospitals across England has issued a startling warning that the NHS is close to breaking point because of its escalating cash crisis.

Years of underfunding have left the service facing such “impossible” demands that without urgent extra investment in November’s autumn statement it will have to cut staff, bring in charges or introduce “draconian rationing” of treatment – all options that will provoke public disquiet, it says.

In an unprecedentedly bleak assessment of the NHS’s own health, NHS Providers, which speaks for hospital trust chairs and chief executives, tells ministers that widespread breaches of performance targets, chronic understaffing and huge overspends by hospitals mean that it is heading back to the visible decline it last experienced in the 1990s.

As Poor Richard’s News points out, when profit and competition no longer play a role, spending goes up and quality goes down. Availability goes down too. Eventually total dysfunction sets in. This is sixth grade level economics. But it looks like we will have to learn the hard way, by losing our healthcare system.

EVERYONE EXPECTED IT except of course the LEFT, STUPID IS!

“Years of underfunding” or continuous, uncontrolled growth of the bureaucracy? How many thousands of “administrators” have been hired during those “years of underfunding”?

This is the way the governments are dealing with the aging baby boomer generation. Cut Medicare, make healthcare more expensive, ration it….presto, enough die off to balance Social Security budget. Works well in reducing the inner city populations that have been becoming too expensive to support.

You can add Sweden to the list of countries are collapsing under the weight of free stuff for foreigners doled out by their cultural Marxist governments. The nation of mostly neutral pacifists is teetering on the brink of civil war, now where have I heard that before? You can find them in the back of Karl Marx storage shed stacked next to France, Germany, UK, and Venezuela as the latest examples of why America is headed in the wrong direction.

But then Brits are too busy disarming to be worried about their MArxist healthcare system collapsing.

What is happening in those lightly armed to mostly disarmed societies is going to look like a pillow fight compared to what is about happen here.

As with all things “big government”, lack of funding, expertise or manpower is no excuse not to go ahead and do it anyway. After all, the resulting train wreck will only justify even bigger government. Case in point, Obamacare and healthcare.gov. A billion dollars to build a website, seriously? All Google will feed you about is a page or more of excuse makers like Salon and Slate. The truth is out there . . . . buried next to Vince Foster.

And yet The Donald says the government will pay for all of our health care and it will be teriffic.

    *sigh*

Whoever does these memes, should learn about widows and orphans.

“In typography you want to avoid single words as the last line of a paragraph and single lines of text at the beginning or end of a column or page. Why? A lonely single word at the end of a paragraph creates a visual interruption in the flow that breaks the reader’s focus.”

    Drives me nuts…
