California Bill to Criminalize Pronouns Moves Forward

What do you get when you cross depravity with tyranny? California:

A bill that passed the California state Senate and is now moving through the Assembly would threaten jail time for anyone that refuses to use a transgender person’s preferred pronoun.

The law is currently limited in its effects to nursing homes and intermediate-care facilities, but if passed, those who “willfully and repeatedly” refuse “to use a transgender resident’s preferred name or pronouns” could be slapped with a $1,000 fine and up to one year in prison, National Review reported Friday. The Senate passed the bill 26-12 at the end of May. Since then, the Assembly Judiciary committee recommended the bill unanimously and the General Assembly held its first hearing on the legislation Wednesday.

This isn’t intended to stop at nursing homes, which are hardly prone to large transgender populations.

[I]t is “pretty unlikely that, if this law is enacted, such prohibitions would be limited just to this [nursing home] scenario,” UCLA First Amendment scholar Eugene Volokh told National Review.

Sexual deviants are so sacred in California — and so much more equal than the other animals on the Animal Farm — that they will be able to command others how to refer to them, under full force of criminal law.

Imagine trying to square that with the First Amendment. No worries, the Constitution is now void where prohibited, as we have learned from the War on Guns. This applies to states completely dominated by liberal authoritarians, like New York, Illinois, and California.

The purpose of SB-219 is to compel people to betray the truth. When you refer to Bruce Jenner or Bradley Manning as “her,” you have succumbed a lie. Having rejected objective reality, you have no ground to stand on, and can be more easily manipulated into participating in further outrages against verity. This is why Winston Smith is tortured into saying what he can see with his own eyes is not true. The transgender pronoun push is similar to the Muslim practice of forcing infidels to recite the Shahada.

I believe that I will move there temporarily and demand that my pronoun be “The Great And Wonderful” (then my name).

I shall stay long enough to be properly insulted by several people and capital rich institutions, then sue them for all they have, or as much as the lawyers can get for me.

    Isn’t PERVERT a correct pronoun?

Let’s go together. I’ll split the gas and lodging with you.

  4. Frank says:

    It’s a proper noun when it’s capitalized.

  5. JeffersonSpinningInGrave says:

A private nursing home should be able to fire someone for not agreeing to play pretend along with clients, if that is the policy. Just like Disneyland could fire Goofy for breaking character. But to introduce criminal penalties is a clear violation of the 1st Amendment, and it cannot be allowed to stand. This is a hill worth dying on.

Luckily, this law, if instituted, will never pass muster with the courts. What are the lawmakers in California thinking? People who don’t know if they’re boys or girls can’t be any more than .001 of the population. That’s not much of a voting block.

  7. Frank says:

Language control isn’t about LANGUAGE any more than GUN CONTROL is about GUNS. They’re about CONTROL.

  8. JeffersonSpinningInGrave says:

The 9th circus court will probably uphold it. My guess is this goes all the way to SCOTUS if it’s passed.

What you say about the percentage in the population is true. At least relatively few people will suffer while this works it’s way through the courts. I’m not much of a Trump fan, but consider how fortunately we are not to have a Clinton appointee in there.

  9. JeffersonSpinningInGrave says:

No argument there. Language control is about thought control.

  10. Abesurd says:

So does this include Hispanics that can’t speak English but break the law also? Or is it only for the English language?

  11. Frank says:

The law only applies to straight, Christian, middle class, conservative Caucasian males.

  12. Anonymous says:

Blancos only. Stopping folk from saying “puto” will be racist, you know.

  13. Stosh says:

We already have pronouns to cover the different genders recognized by science….he, she, and it.

    “Lawmakers in California *thinking*”?

  16. Mike says:

Freedom of speech…unless you don’t say what we want you to say, then you’ll have to pay a fine, or maybe we’ll just slap your ass in jail!

  17. Ferd Berfel says:

this does NOT pass Constitutional muster and they know it. They just want to waste huge amounts of time and money on anything but really fixing things, seeking the psycho vote.

I’ll call you whatever I feel like, so shove it Mexifornia.

Being a native of Illinois i must state that in the context of politics (and most everything else) a distinction must be made from “Illinois” and “Chicago” or “Crook County”. Remove Crook County from Illinois and Illinois instantly becomes one of the most if not the most conservative states in the country. It is not fair for the vast majority of the citizens in the remaining 101 counties to be lumped together with the sh!tstain know as Chicago. Most of us “downstaters” in fly over country would gladly and instantly expel Crook County from the state if possible. Of course that will never happen as the a-holes in Chicago need hosts in which it suck from.

One may ask “why do you care” now that i fled to GOD’s greatest country on Earth in Texas. Just like a soviet fleeing communist Russia, it doesnt mean i do not love and care for my former state and the good people imprisoned in her borders.

Free speech is a civil right. Those who conspire together to infringe upon a civil right should be charged and prosecuted with violating 18 USC 241 Conspiracy to Deny Rights.

After all, how is this different from attempting to deny voting rights to certain people?
